What a delightful place to eat. The food is superb, the staff are friendly and attentive and the ambience is perfect. Not the cheapest place to eat, but you won't be disappointed.

Superb date night location but generally speaking top notch too. We had the steaks and they were gorgeous. The service was great and very accommodating (they seated us despite being about 40 minutes late). Only complaint would be that the second batch of chips weren’t as good/ cooked as the first.

Visited Rowley’s on Valentine’s Day. On arrival the restaurant was quite empty, the waiter was polite but there was quite a long wait for him to come back and take our order. It became apparent that service was slow but we couldn’t make sense of it because the restaurant was not full and there were 3/4 waiters plus a manager on the floor. The food arrived in good time. Food was very tasty. Small menu, all good options. It again took a very long time for someone to clear the table, and then again to give us dessert menus and take our orders. This took about 30 minutes. I ordered a crème brûlée but the waiter brought me a chocolate ganache. When I explained that I didn’t order that, his first reaction was one of disbelief, as if his colleague could not have gotten the order wrong. I explained again what I ordered and even that wasn’t enough so I looked at my partner who had to say yes I remember her ordering the crème brûlée, only at that point did the waiter say I’ll put the order in. In my opinion, a mistake like that should be met with an apology and an offer to either take the item off the bill or to leave the incorrect item whilst waiting for the correct item (I would have preferred the later as I do not want to take money from the service industry that’s already struggling). Neither were offered and instead I faced another 20 minute wait for dessert. After dessert, and with full awareness of how painfully slow service was, I went to the loo and hoped that the bill would have been settle by the time I got back. It wasn’t. We both had our coats on. My partner then also went to the loo. I turned to face into the restaurant and tried to catch a waiters attention. I saw a waiter standing there and he looked at the guy on the table next to me and asked if he was okay, he nodded yes, I was sat inches away from him and there is no doubt that the waiters naturally peripheral view meant that he did see me. He awkwardly turned and did not look at me. I felt very embarrassed at this snub and even the guy next to me turned bright red at how awkward this was. It was very unprofessional and felt so violent and targeted. When I did get someone’s attention, it was the manager. She asked me how the meal was. I said the food was great, the service not so great. She said yes service is slow, would you like the service charge removed (lack of accountability on the restaurants part and again I don’t believe in taking money from restaurant staff, even when service is bad). I said no, I’m quite unhappy and I explained to her what had happened. She said she would speak to him but didn’t ask who it was so I’m very doubtful that a conversation took place or that there was any concern that a member of staff could be so unpleasant and unprofessional.

Small menu of meat based dishes but excellent quality especially the simple chicken dish with its Parisian butter sauce. Definitely a good pre theatre location with friendly service and tasty food.

Wonderful service and a simple but fulfilling menu. The medium-rare fillet was spot on. Unlimited fries. House salad was refreshing between bites of steak.

Went for dinner at Rowleys for a friend’s birthday on Tuesday following very good previous experiences. Whilst the food was still good, the service was very poor. The main waitress that we had was incredibly rude and generally disinterested at serving us, with the service of the other waiters similarly lacklustre and more focussed on what I can only assume were regulars. At the end of the meal our waitress even had the audacity to insult the person whose birthday it was. A great restaurant that needs to hire new waiting staff quickly that are polite or risk losing the great reputation they have cultivated over many years.

Rowleys is not as good value as it once was compared to other restaurants but the steak is really delicious and all the staff are great. My favourite place for a steak this year

I’ve been going to Rowley’s for many years but it feels like it’s changed and not in a good way. Another reviewer said that it has lost its USP under new management. Let’s hope it recovers again soon. My experience today was good/ average but not exceptional as I believe it used to be.

Rowley's situated in Jermyn street is a fine restaurant and worth a visit. The menu is not extensive but sufficient, shame there is not a set menu at the lunch sitting. The sirloin was on the tough side so would suggest the Fillet which was excellent as was the Sea Bass. Four Gin and tonics, two bottles of wine + four starters, four main courses and three puddings with service -£426.80, so not cheap but to be fair, service and ambience, very good (coffees were poor quality). As one of our group was celebrating a birthday, a birthday treat was promised but not forthcoming. Would I go again?…Yes, I would.

Lovely place to eat . Tables spaced nicely , high ceilings, really well thought out. Service was great.

Unfortunately, we had to leave as they only serve fish and chips for lunch, which is not stated on the menu on OpenTable. As we are not able to have meat on a Friday, this left us with very limited options. We have been before and love the restaurant so will definitely go back, just not on a Friday!

Having had very good experience and meals at Rowley’s many times, unfortunately on this occasion (06-12-24), my order of a “rare” although “fatty”entrecôte steak arrived perfectly cooked only then to be burnt by the slow table burner as I ate my meal ! Due to having half eaten the steak I chose not to complain at the time; not until I was paying and leaving the restaurant. In “hindsight” clearly this was a mistake as on reflection both the experience and the meal was “spoilt” ; the meal was paid in full, as this was not about the invoice. For the price paid I feel that this was not good value and feel very disappointed.

We had items missing from our meal and the service was very hit and miss. The waiter went off to get one of our missing items and just never came back leaving a meal incomplete. Maybe through embarrassment no one came near us. We piled up our plates and asked for the bill. Won't be going back, seemed to be run by inexperienced staff...

Cena frecuente con un grupo de viejos amigos - dos veces al año. Es casi seguro que será la última vez. Todos elegimos el menú de Navidad. Mi entrante era salmón ahumado - sin limón y con dos pequeños trozos de pan de masa agria (sin mantequilla). Apenas era adecuado y a 23 libras habría esperado algo mejor. El plato principal era entrecôte que parece ser cada vez más pequeño cada vez que visitamos - las patatas fritas eran buenas! Una vez más, en £ 43 para lo que se sentía como un filete de un minuto fue de nuevo un poco excesivo. La pieza de resistencia era el ganesh de chocolate que en efecto era una cucharada de Nutella con tres pedazos rotos de Caramac (recuérdelos) - que a £ 14 estaba más allá de la palidez ... ... La cuenta para nueve de nosotros era poco menos de £ 1500 - concedió cantidades considerables de vino estaban bebidos, pero aún así ... ... Lamentablemente - nuestra última vez allí, todos sentimos que la calidad de la comida era pobre y considerablemente caro.

Buenas noches y un gran servicio y bueno. Shane, ya no tienen las papas finas. La vieja fórmula funcionó tan bien, ¿por qué cambiarla?

This was our first time dining here at it won’t be our last. The steaks were delicious as were the fries. Good friendly service

They need to sought out the draughty door -which also doesn’t close properly. A semi-circular velvet curtain would also be an improvement. Failing this do not sit near the door - a shame because the back of the restaurant is not so inviting. The sides are overpriced at £8 for a few green beans. I had the daily special - a lemon sole which was delicious- if swimming in a bit too much butter. Considering this was £42 this should have come with chips as the steak dishes do.

We ordered 2 different types of steak, cooked two different ways. When they arrived, they looked exactly the same in every way. Sirloin v ribeye. I mentioned this to the waiter , who said they were different cuts, but that they were the wrong way round, so we switched identical steaks. The salad I ordered was wrong, so had to be changed. Service - nice lady server. Others a bit to chummy. Disappointing meal - I wouldn’t go back.

We ordered French onion soup and chateaubriand. The food was presented very well and tasted great. The service was prompt, and they were very friendly. The ambiance was elegant.

Found this hidden gem in Piccadilly and it did not disappoint! We started with calamari and chicken liver parfait, which was amazing and sticky toffee pudding to finish (the best I’ve ever had!) but the main attraction was the Steak!! We had the sharing plate and it was incredible with unlimited fries! The staff were so lovely and friendly and the atmosphere felt very cosy and tucked away from the chaos of Regent street!

Obviously great steak, but kind and warm service and good wines lead to a straightforwardly yummy steak and chips.

We met old friends for lunch -were served by a delightful young man Ben and a lovely young lady whose name I’m afraid I didn’t catch - calamari to share to start with snd 3 entrecote steaks and one burger - all delicious washed down with excellent reasonably priced wine

Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Rowleys. The service from the girls that work there was excellent. Our Cote de Beouf was sensational and cooked to perfection. Cannot wait to return soon!

We had a very good an happy lunch at Rowley's. But oh dear, the cost was exorbitant. The beef menu started at £42 (it says £38 on the web) so we went for the burger and fish & chips. For starters we had calamari. I am sure the burger was £24 (not £19 as on the web). With two glasses of wine each and coffee afterwards the bill came to £162. At these prices, my old familiar haunt has just become excessive and I would rather go somewhere more upmarket. The service was not that great either, with cutlery being dropped all around us. What a shame.

Arrived 5.30 said we needed to leave by 6.30, ordered immediately, two steaks. By five to six no sign of food so I asked what was happening. After a few minutes told that kitchen had not received the ticket for the order but would now cook the meal. Food arrived 6.05 so had about 20 minutes to scoff down very average steak. Unsatisfactory experience. And because there were no other diners while we waited we could not but hear staff conversations. Paid our bill (we should have left when we learnt the kitchen never got the order) minus the service charge. Avoid.

Best steak I have had in London for a while! Rowleys offers a truly unique and traditional dining experience. It has a great atmosphere and the staff are super friendly and offer great service. This is no doubt going to be my go to steak restaurant going forward!

Always delivers what's expected. I've been visiting for about 40 years and only had one disappointment when we took our godson and his sister there about 2 years ago.

Rowley's a bit of an institution. Everything is done proper and the place is neat. Their chips are unlimited and certainly worth having seconds of. I thought the service was impeccable and very friendly without being overbearing. The price/taste ratio left to be desired, although I had a wonderful meal.

If you like traditional values and value, this is a great place. Great food and attentive, discrete but attentive service in a timeless environment then try here.

The food didn't live up to expectations. Steak had no flavour. Sea bass was good but veg swimming in butter. Desserts were ridiculously small portions as well as bread basket. They had no sparkling water and couldn't make a Bloody Mary, in a Steak restaurant!!

Good restaurant in the heart of London. Specialty steak, set in building with beautiful tiling al around the room. Food is very good, staff very friendly , this is our 4th visit not in London often but usually try and get a table here.

I've visited this restaurant on and off for decades. Principaly for the entrecote steak and frites. Finished in gorgeous garlic butter at table. Still on the menu. Interesting interior (used to be a pie shop). Friendly welcome. Comfortable interior. I prefer the tiled front area. Not too large menu, excellent wines; many by glass. The steak was so-so this time. Not tender. Certainly a nice lunch restaurant when shopping or for pre theatre dinner

Staff and food were excellent. We had booked a table by the window, but when we arrived they were occupied. Staff came over and said one was nis empty and moved us. Delightful staff indeed. We use Rowley’s a lot and I had put down via Open Table that it was our wedding anniversary. We have always in the past been offered a free drink. Staff were obviously not made aware.

First visit Restaurant empty Lovely ambience Despite being empty service was slow. Annoying things like when main course arrived I ordered a glass of wine. Did not appear until meal almost finished. Food OK. Had steak (famous for). Overpriced undersized.

My first visit to Rowleys, lovely conveniently located restaurant. Service was perfect, meal was excellent, I had a burger and can honestly say that the meat was the best seasoned I have ever had! I will definitely return v shortly! 5*
