Route 66 Diner in Great Yarmouth

There were three of us for Sunday roast, meat was dried out and vegetables over cooked. If I had gone to the loo before I sat down to eat we would have walked out the toilet was disgusting Sandra Daventry

Had a lovely roast dinner veg cooked lovely.nice staff. Good value for money. Had a choice of meats .and plenty of gravy.

Proper food!!! all Home cook and prepared meals descent size portions all very friendly have been back a few times

I took my family of 7 for breakfast. I had a Goliath breakfast and the rest of my family had a big boy breakfast. The food was amazing and the staff were very friendly. The food was cooked fresh to order and we highly recommend.

Came in not knowing it was still closed and she allowed us in and made us a coffee amazing service here having dinner later can't wait

Went here for breakfast on Sunday, staff were very friendly, food was freshly cooked, search it out it is worth it.

Stopped in here for lunch, 3 adults, 2 kids and a baby. No one was in the restaurant so we put the pushchair under the route 66 sign shown in the picture. We told the young girl that we'd move it when we'd got sat down and ordered or before if anyone else came in. Within a minute a snotty lady came from the kitchen and very rudely told us to move the pushchair as it was blocking two tables. We were the only people there and if she'd have asked instead of coming out for a fight we'd have explained, moved the chair and had our meal. Instead we left and went to a cafe down the road. No excuse for rudeness.

The route 66 diner is a great place to eat, it is located a little off the beaten track located between yhe Seadell club and an arcade. the food was great, freshly cooked and lots of it. A good range of options on the menu, we went for breakfast and had the all day breakfast. The staff were friendly and chatty, Elaine the chef was lovely and nothing was too much trouble when ordering, the prices were good compared to some of the cafes around the hemsby area. Definitely recommend Route 66 diner as a great place to eat.

We have been going on holiday to Hemsby for several years, holiday makers and several locals in the Hemsby area have always told us about and highly recommended the Route 66 restaurant/cafe. My wife and I headed straight for the cafe as soon as we arrived in Hemsby on the Monday morning, and orderd two full traditional breakfasts, one of which was a 'big boy'. The breakfasts were served (by the lovely lady who owns and runs the cafe) piping hot, we both were very impressed by the fresh tasty ingredients, all of which were far fresher and tastier than any other cafe we had visted before. We were so impressed by the service and breakfasts that we spoke to the lady owner and booked two beef roast dinners for the following Sunday. Yet again the beef roasts were served piping hot, they were unbelievably tasty and plentiful, absolutely 'of the charts' 11 out of 10, well done! Both breakfast and roasts were great value for the plentiful fresh ingredients that were served. Needless to say we cannot wait to visit the Route 66 cafe several times on our next trip to Hemsby.

We had breakfast at Route 66 and it was amazing, the owner was lovely and made us feel very welcome, we were a family of 8, everyone in our party thoroughly enjoyed the food, will definitely go back when we visit again

Lovely staff food cooked well all good but could have been bit hotter clean toilets and lots of outside seats and inside seats. very good value for portion size if the food was hotter would have been a 5 everything was great would recommend and will be back next time we come on holiday near here as this was a day trip well done guys.

The owner very helpful made us very welcome nothing was to much trouble even welcomed us in before she opened & was very concerned about my health. We will be going again next year when we come back for a holiday

Went here for breakfast.after two way cafe late opening..what a lovely lady we meet there .cooks every thing fresh (nothing pre-cooked and kept warm) good price for great food .she was very helpful. Even looked up trains for us..10 out of 10..will use every day now .and the coming years too

Went to the diner this morning and it was lush! Lots of drink choices which was a plus as we don’t have hot drinks. The service was quick and everyone was friendly. Generous portions and cannot wait to come back again

We’ve been coming to this area for the last 6 years or so but never found this before. It’s behind all the arcades. First impressions were it’s a little drab but the owner lady was great. The portions were great and it didn’t cost the earth. Most importantly the food was good! The lady owner doesn’t take any crap at all though so be wary. Personally I loved it though. Also saw a lot of locals coming here which is always a good sign.

Came here today for some food. I had burger, chips, other had a beef roast and 2 lasagnes. All came super hot with big portions and super yummy. Very good price for the plate full's we had. 4 full tummys. Will be back for more...

Loverly little hidden away gem down hemsby beach! Owner lady was friendly and most helpful and went above an beyond to create the largest breakfast for my oversized appetite that's not even on the menu anymore. I always come visit when I'm back home...proper proper...

Come to this little cafe every Sunday and sometime other days. The food is always great and tasty. The staff are all friendly and always willing to help with anything. Would definitely recommend if in hemsby.

Yet again a fantastic fresh cooked meal. The place is as usual spotlessly clean. All goverment guidelines were in place, hand sanitizer and track and trace also HIGHLY RECOMMEND ROUTE 66 FOR FRESH COOKED FOOD AND CAKES TO DIE FOR

As previous visits to Route 66 we keep coming back food is always hot cooked fresh and always asked how we would like it. Lovely cakes coffee and tea. Brilliant communication with children with disability and always makes us feel welcome

Quite simply put, brilliant! Route 66 has been quite a very recent discovery. The food has been exceptional. The value is unbeaten in Hemsby! Elaine and her team offer old school customer service, they care deeply about the customer experience and take great care to deliver top quality food. Nothing is too much trouble. We had a very large family breakfast today of about 20 people, as part of a day of birthday celebrations, every person was served a hot, fresh and very generous breakfast very promptly. I am also disabled needing wheelchair access and this was absolutely no problem. If you want top drawer customer care, fresh and delicious food at the best prices in Hemsby, you must visit Route 66!

I've eaten here many times and the food is second to none. Tasty and proper potion sizes. Would highly recommend the ribs and roast dinner.

Fair prices and 'cool' atmosphere with records as place mats, red and white seats, a juke box and appropriate decor it re-creates a route 66 diner which offers lovely food and drinks - well worth experiencing. Recommended treat.

Went here with my husband and 3yr old daughter. Had the most delish freshly cooked breakie and coffee. Lovely staff and lovely atmosphere and very yummy food ! Thanks so much we will defo be back Sam, mike and Megan x x

Near to the beach, very friendly and good food. Dogs welcome too which is a plus as not many places do accept woofers!

Went here on Friday the 25th of August, with 8 of us, nice clean restaurant, nice friendly helpful staff but food just wasn't that nice for us, all the toast was burnt and very cold, and bacon and sausages weren't that nice

Called Here for a Roast Dinner On Sunday 13th August.Very quick service,Great value for money,Loads of meat on a lovely cooked dinner.All served in an American Themed Room with a Juke Box.Superb all round.Wll done to all the staff.

Popped in here for breakfast this morning after having a couple of bad meals elsewhere... and it was brilliant.

We never realised this diner was here until reading TripAdvisor as it is tucked off the main road. We weren't disappointed. If you want a posh restaurant this isn't the place. If you want real homecooked food, large portions and a reasonable price then this is your place. We enjoyed great meals, including burgers and a steak and kidney pudding and all was enjoyed. The staff were lovely and friendly, making us feel very welcome and not in a rush for us to leave, even though the doorway stated they were open until 7pm. In actual fact, they told us that they will stay open as long as clients wanted to eat. This is a great find.

Yet again fantastic food with fantastic service, staff always friendly and welcoming. The place is spotless and dinners are freshly cooked, had the homemade cottage pie, veg and homemade gravy a must if you eating in this wonderful place.

We came here for dinner on our last evening in hemsby having read the reviews on here. We were expecting a quaint dinner but it's more like a cafe (low end). The service was average at best and so was the place, dirty tables, filthy floors (so much food under our chairs!), cheap brand sauces as murky glasses. We didn't notice this till we had ordered at the tills, paid and found a table. I went back up to ask for a glass for my can of drink (murky) and the lady was emptying a bag of basic brand chips into the deep fat fryer, not what I was expecting. After being served our food the only other people in the place left and the 2 lady's behind the counter sat just outside from us and started smoking (again not what I'd expected). If this was advertised as a budget cafe, which is what it is, I wouldn't have been so bothered. If your looking for a diner experience avoid. If your happy with a budget cafe and prices to match - enjoy! Sorry for the negativity it was just a very disappointing last meal. The area however is very quaint and Browns fish and chips highly recommended (it does what it says on the tin).

Once we had discovered this place, hidden behind the main Beach Road attractions, we have returned every visit to Hemsby. We are a large family with 6 grandchildren and we always spend the school holidays together in the area. We especially like Route 66 Diner, because we always receive a lovely warm welcome there and the food is excellent. Everything is fresh and appetising, with huge portions and all at very reasonable prices. The chips are yummy and the salads served are amazing, with so much variety on the plate.There is always something to suit everyone, even me as a vegetarian. The tables inside are long enough to accommodate us all together and you can sit inside or out. The children always love it when the older gentleman comes out from the back to talk to them all and they always get given a lollipop before they leave too. Will be back soon!

A great find in Hemsby, travelled for the Bank Holiday weekend, found the staff friendly & the Menu reasonably priced. Ended up having a breakfast on Sunday Morning & returning for a fresh roast Dinner in the afternoon, well worth a visit !

This restaurant serves great food, with huge portions and not too expensive. Food served quickly. Lovely and clean and nice and clean loos too! comfortable and tables not on top of each other, so plenty of room. Good all round diner for families.
