Since ownership change it’s gone down hill. Won’t be going again. Food not as good as it was & it’s lost its class. Ordered a smoked salmon pain I as bagels had finished & got a cheap hot dog roll which wasn’t even toasted to be a panini. Panini rolls are different but was told that’s what they use. I sent it back for something else. Attitude not good from guy who preps food & no apology

Visited Market Square venue today and sat on the sunny terrace with a friend. Fantastic attentive service by very friendly staff. Ordered tea which came in a huge pot with tea strainer. They use real tea, non of the tea bag in a cup rubbish. Sandwiches delicious, really packed with the filling, with large salad garnish and Homemade coleslaw. Staff super. Have been many times and best place in Bishops Stortford for a lunch. Cannot fault a thing hence 5 star.

I visited with my daughter who has life threatening allergies and asked the waitress about food she could eat. She was very casual and unconcerned and gave us no confidence in what she was saying. I asked another waitress if we could have a chat with the person making the food to make sure they understood about cross contamination and the severity of her allergies etc. The original waitress returned and made us feel really awkward, stating again that the food was fine. I explained that someone with severe allergies would need to be fully reassured before eating out but she wasn't interested. My daughter began to cry and started to have a panic attack. When the food arrived, I said she wouldn't be able to eat it now as she was so distressed. I was offered a box to take it home and asked if we wanted to speak to the cook now. We declined as she was too embarrassed and it would have made no difference as she had no faith in them and was too upset. I ate my sandwich quickly and we left hers in the box on the table which I let the waitress know as she would not be able to eat it. I went to pay and any decent business would have deducted it from the bill, but nothing was done even when asked how the meal was for us and I explained. We were not taken seriously, the customer service was appalling. There was no offer to order an alternative, no one cared. I paid the £25 for the two 2 sandwiches and 2 drinks and left. I will never go there again, it used to be a lovely relaxing experience with great food, what has happened?

Popped in for coffee with couple of friends.Needed to sit outside due to guidelines.(I do wonder how many inside were following them!). On the plus side the coffee was excellent and piping hot as requested and service was excellent. However, indoors, looked like the ‘set up’ was the same as before Covid-19. There was not enough distance between tables and although two members of staff were wearing masks, one was not wearing one at all and continued to walk between the counter area to where customers were, to outside! I had to go indoors to pay and couldn’t get out of there fast enough due to the noise, amount of people and very poor ventilation.

Went for brunch on Saturday, had an English Breakfast, although a little pricey for a full English (just over £9 I think) was delicious! Also had a pot of tea. Great selection on the menu looking forward to coming back and trying more. Place was a little hard to find I was meeting friends there, down a road which made you think “this doesn’t look right am I going the right way?” But a lot of building works going on with the housing estate so I’m sure will eventually be easier to find. Staff were friendly and helpful, and food and drinks came quickly. Covid restrictions - tables seemed pretty spread out, all staff in masks and hand sanitizer at the door.

Visited Rosy Lea for Saturday Brunch. It’s tucked a little bit out the way, but this means it’s not overly busy and there is plenty of free parking. I had a breakfast tea and an English Breakfast and both were absolutely delicious. The tea was loose leaf and in a huge pot. The breakfast was freshly cooked to perfection and very tasty. I also ordered coffee and walnut cake to takeaway because it looked to nice not to! The menu is massive and as well as a great selection of breakfast choices there are bagels, pancakes, sandwiches, baguettes, jacket potatoes, cakes, afternoon tea and more! We were also impressed with the coronavirus measures in place and felt very safe visiting. There was hand sanitiser at the door, numbers taken for track and trace, waiters/waitresses wore facemasks and all condiments were in individual packets and given to each person. I would definitely revisit, especially as there are a lot more things on the menu that I’d like to try!

This was my first visit since Covid-19 was a thing. When we first arrived it was about 12 o’clock on a Tuesday and they had a queue at the door. We waited and got seated in the corner and the place hasn’t changed any of their seating so you are within 2m of the next table. I was disappointed to see 90% of staff wearing masks on their chin! In fact I could only see one member of staff in the whole place wearing their mask correctly. They were either hanging off their chins or they had their nose sticking out. The person who was preparing the food kept touching his mask taking it off and then hanging it round his chin and in doing so kept touching his face and didn’t wash his hands. The menu was sitting at our table when we arrived but I watched it get taken to the counter then handed to another customer without being cleaned. Now I get it these masks aren’t comfortable to wear (I know as I wear one at work for eight hours a day) but don’t wear them hanging off your chin! If there is a second wave then restaurants like this are going to be the reason why it spreads.

Have been coming to Rosey Lea for years. You know what you are getting, a little pricey but used to be a nice place to go. Wickham hall although had a refurb felt dirty and disorganised today. Such a shame. Waited ages to be served for drinks, one drink came but the other two had to chase and chase. They eventually came after the food!! About 25 mins after order being taken was told no eggs (it was a weekend and brunch time). Order changed, again asked for drinks. No apologies other than they were really busy. It wa but no where near what it used to be, and about 70% of tables taken. Tables were left dirty for some time ( I had no drink so could observe!) Staff weren't organised, and seemed to be stressed - but there were a lot running around. Food was average - I feel like the quality has gone down hill. Unfortunately the toilets weren't pleasant - I don't think they are checked on during the day. I hate to be down on somewhere I used to love but really think they can't keep putting prices up without improving.

This was my second visit.First time with a friend and Second time with my Wife. First impression was good at it was a really nice coffee house with beautiful decor and friendly staff .When I first looked at the Menu I did find everything to be over priced by atleast 20% .A full English Breakfast at almost £10 you would expect slightly more food on there. Both visit they had about 5-6 tables of customers , the only thing that lets this place down is the waiting time for food .We ordered Two full English breakfasts at 11:30am and it arrived at 12:18pm .48 minutes wait from ordering . If it was a complicated fish I can ‘maybe’ understand , but it was only an English Breakfast . And like I said for £10 a breakfast , you would expect atleast Two full slices of toast.I asked the staff to check on my order twice, the staff seemed very apologetic but there wasn’t much they can do because there was only one person actually cooking the food .They should really employ an extra person helping out in the kitchen . It’s simply not realistic to just have one person cooking everything . My order should not have taken more than 20mins with the few tables they had at that time . My wife ordered an Earl grey tea and she really loved the teapot and cup set .I had an Americano and the coffee beans they used were really good quality and had a rich aroma taste. Overall experience was a little disappointing due to the waiting time and I don’t think I would be returning unless you are prepared to wait an hour for food . However saying that , the breakfast was good and we really enjoyed their Earl Grey tea and coffee . Today had a terrible experience trying to get a simple sandwich, promised and forgotten 3 times. Had to leave because would be late for an appointment and spent already 40 mins.Told them it was poor I’m leaving and also left a half finished drink. The issue is the manager then used the number I had supplied for track and trace to basically threaten me if I didn’t return and pay for the coke! Having spent thousands in three over the year and signing off my staffs expenses for lunches there this idiot has cost the business my patronage and others as I will not sanction any expenses there again. There are now other great options on the high st and better value.Shame....

We’ve had lunch at Rosey Lea several times now but are unlikely to go again. The place was not full and yet we waited at least 45 minutes after placing our order for our meal. The food was okay, but not brilliant. There was a much smaller choice of cake than before. One suggestion I’d make would be for some sort of blind for the high windows - at this time of year the lovely sun stays very low so anyone facing the window is blinded. The lack of soft furnishings in the high-ceiling barn-like building makes for a very noisy atmosphere. An extractor fan clearly wasn’t working yesterday because the whole place was shrouded inside by a grey haze. Or maybe there isn’t one? Finally, is it really necessary for waiting staff to sit in the restaurant to have their meal? Why isn’t there a staff room? It seemed a bit incongruous to watch a waitress tuck into a full plate while we were waiting so long for our food.

For many years we visited RL’s once or twice a week when we lived in Stortford. Always tasty, good quality food and excellent service. We returned recently after a two year absence to see friends and paid a couple of nostalgic visits to the coffee shop. Sadly things have changed and the quality has suffered. On both occasions the signature baguette dishes were poor. Brie, bacon and cranberry consisted of the skin of the brie and not enough cranberry to cover a .....cranberry. The stilton toastie consisted of a chunk of cold, chewy, unmelted stilton. Coffee was weak and service was slow. As for the toilets, let’s just say they need some attention. Sad that what was the top coffee shop in Stortford has gone downhill. I can’t speak for the sister establishment in town but sadly we definitely will not be returning to Wickham Hall.

It took 30 minutes to order our food, and that was only because i went inside and said we had been waiting and no one had come out to take our order. We ordered different drinks to the tea as we both don’t drink tea and we were told we had to pay the difference, which was fine. We were waiting a long time for our drinks and food to come out. When we asked one of the servers where our food and drinks were, she said that one of her colleagues should have informed us that it was an hour wait for food, which we were not told. I visited Rosey Lees today for a regular catch up with my two work colleagues. Been countless times before for an afternoon tea but has always been on weekdays. Always had an amazing, friendly service but wow, I won’t be returning. First of all, it took an hour to get our drinks. I had a latte and my friend had a hot chocolate. Both were cold. Had to return but got a Luke warm replacement. My other friend had asked for a large latte, the waitress brought over a regular. Was made aware of the problem and just said sorry and walked off. Next the food came, another 40 minuets later ... (no jacket potato’s?!) had luke warm food. It was all goats cheese in a baguette with one piece of chicken and a scraping of carmalised onion and a bunch of leaves!!

Popped in on Monday, place was quite busy, but not rammed. After waiting at table for about 15 minutes a waitress appeared and took order for 2 soya cappuccinos. They duly arrived after approx 15 mins, without any chocolate sprinkles, when telling the waitress/coffee maker she stated that you don't have chocolate sprinkles on a Cappacinno??? Well that's a new one! 5 minutes later yet another waitress, take note! That's the 3rd one! came to take our food order, one Canadian Baguette and one Gluten Free toasted Holummi Sandwich. After 30 minutes the food still had not arrived! We caught the eye of yet another waitress, yep that's the 4th! and complained about the wait and that we would be leaving. Upon which she, the 4th, said she would go to check. She came back and informed us that it was very very busy and that our food was on its way. Funny that. After a couple of minutes our food arrived. We asked the waitress, the 3rd, if it was always like this on a Monday after 2pm to which she replied "oh yes always" my other half ordered a mint tea as her cappuccino was finished, 20 minutes back. I suggested that perhaps the management should cater, staff wise, better for their customers. 10 minutes later the mint tea arrived. One wonders how difficult it must be to pour boiling water into a teapot followed by a couple of spoonfuls of loose tea? We most certainly will not be visiting again and recommend that you don't either. There is a perfectly good motorway services just up the road, Starbucks for cappuccinos made properly with chocolate sprinkles! And cake!

Rosey Lea is a good place to meet for breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea. It’s a pretty, large room with vintage cups and plates - it’s very popular and busy. The cake is very good and of home-made quality, the tea is made with leaf tea and is delicious. My scone was served warm and was perfect, I said I wondered whether it might have been the best one I’d ever had.

My partner & I decided to go to the Rosie Lea in Hadam Road & not the one in town on bank holiday Monday, we got table straight away, we decided wot we wanted to eat I had 1 slice of toast, scrambled eggs & asked for few beans & we both had small cappcino, I did say to the waitress please don't put no milk, cream or butter when making my scrambled egg which they never, my partner had the same as me but 2 slices of toast, there was hardly any scrambled egg on my plate it looked like they used just 1 egg & it was watery, when the bill came we where shocked to see we got charged £24.50 for our breakfast I wouldn't mind but it was the worst breakfast we had, I asked why it was so high & she said it was because we had beans, but I only had 1 slice of toast I said, but still charged us £24.50, I payed the bill as didn't want to make fuss but will not return there for breakfast the one in Market square is better & not so noisy as well.

I’ve visited many times for coffee, but this was our first visit at lunchtime. The food was delicious and the service friendly. Sadly it was marred by the noise level. The acoustics are terrible and screaming babies didn’t help. One of our elderly friends couldn’t participate in the conversation as the noise level was so loud, which was a shame as otherwise it is perfect.

Visited with friends for a Sunday morning refreshments. Not a nice ride to get here with all the speed bumps and development work but well worth it once here. Proper cup of tea with tea leaves and no complaints there but as we had sat outside maybe that was why the coffees were not very hot.

It had been a very long overnight flight to Stansted and I was really looking forward to cream tea (being from Canada, i on,y get this delicious, authentic treat when in England). I set out for the hunt as soon as I could and found Roses Lea quite by “accident”, not realizing it was so incredibly close to closing time. Olivia and Bella were amazing and promptly served me a pot of their delicious earl grey tea and THE most amazing scone I’ve ever had and all that, with a smile and incredible politeness. So if you find your self in the quaint town of Bishops Stortford or even in Stansted, it is well worth your time, especially if you are looking for an amazing cream tea or even afternoon tea.

Decent location although the entrance road will now have a lot of homes built next to it...I am sure the cafe will do well as a result. Although it was busy with a few people, I guess they are drawn to it as it looks cute.

Brought an elderly gentleman to have a cuppa this Monday just gone, around 2.15 pm … was pleased and actually surprised to find the Tea Room very busy - think it was just at the end of lunches, yet glad to see it so well filled for a Monday post Half Term! Maybe that was the reason actually! However the noise level was quite invasive - acoustics of the "barn" seem to amplify sound. It felt quite unrelaxing. We found a seat and decided to ask a waitress if it was counter service, since I felt unconvinced we'd be served otherwise. Waitress friendly and duly came and took our order. The tea itself was LOVELY - we had one pot of Gunpowder Green tea and one Breakfast. As seems typical these days, "ordinary" biscuits seem not to be on offer, yet to be fair I chose not to ask!

Came with some friends for lunch as had been many times before when living in the town. The food was nice but overpriced for what it was. Was supposed to come with salad and coleslaw but didnt and seeing as in this instance the waitress was so miserable I couldnt be bothered to chase it up with her. Went to pay and the two waitresses were stood chatting as if we werent there. Next time will go somewhere else when lunching in stortford.

This place has the potential to be really good. Unfortunately, every time I've been in there, the cups are dirty. It just turns my stomach. I asked the assistant to bring a new cup, but already the ambience is spoiled. Then there is the seating. If you're sitting in the wrong place, you have people constantly squeezing passed your chair, kicking the legs, banging into you. Mostly it is the waitresses, with no apology. The food is far too pricey for this kind of service. Having to queue at the end to pay for food is just about the limit, with the waitresses chatting between themselves as if you really are not there, standing for 7 minutes, waiting to pay and go. Not good. I do not recommend. Huge improvements needed.

Don't be put off by all the building work in the surrounding area, once inside the welcome is warm and attention to our afternoon faultless. We opted for the afternoon tea option where you get to choose not small delicate sandwiches and cakes, but a good size sandwich and a generous slice of cake. There are gluten free options also available in equally delicious flavours. The size of the scone is to behold. All was delicious and will definitely be returning.

Several visits to this tea room have always been enjoyable, service has always been good, as with most good food establishments expect it to be busy at peak times. Our last visit was to collect a pre-ordered number of scones (and enjoying another lunch there ) for a birthday celebration at home and were thoroughly enjoyed by all our guests next day. Good value for money. Plenty of parking close by and a few outdoor tables available.

I have been to this Cafe several times and have had a good experience, the staff are friendly and helpful and the food is delicious. But on this occasion it was so noisy it gave myself and my friends a headache, we saw another couple get up and walk out! The noise was coming from the many little children in the cafe, it was not just a normal sound of people chatting, there were toddlers running around, opening doors to the outside and screaming. We were there at 12pm on a Friday so I would avoid that time if you want a nice cup of tea and a chat. The food was excellent as usual and I must say it was lovely to see the lady making the cakes and scones on the premises, she is obviously very talented. I hope that this was just a one off, because otherwise it could spoil it for those looking to catch up with friends over an afternoon tea.
