Picked Rosey Lea because it has kerb appeal and there was a pretty terrace to enjoy the last of the summer. Had a simple lunch of baked potato and a glass of wine which came to £17.45. The spud was OK and came with a decent amount of salad. However, for that money I want a big, fluffy and really hot potato where the cheese is happily melting in to the mix. The one I had was warmish and smallish. Service was friendly but on the slow side.

Today, we were served by Peter and a lady (I forgot to ask her name), but both have served us before, and like all the staff, they were great. Highly recommend this place. David and mum Janet

Very disappointing afternoon. Waited 1.5 hours for a toasted sandwich and some chips. Friend had a cream tea and was finished long before I got my meal. Checked I cd substitute chips for coleslaw and salad only for it to be insisted that I pay for both at the end despite abysmal service. Should have been more like another table and complained bitterly about my meal. We will not be returning despite being frequently in BS. A shame because the staff were lovely.

We went here on Saturday afternoon (21st Oct). It was quite busy but we were seated quickly. Unfortunately we then waited ages for someone to take our order. We understood it was busy so it did not bother us particularly, but the final straw was when the same waitress that seated us took the orders of two other tables who had arrived after us, and still did not take our order. We decided to leave and go elsewhere.

I don’t know what has happened to this place, the service is terrible now! I keep coming back hoping it would have improved but again was disappointed today. Sitting on the terrace we waited and waited for someone to take our order, eventually a young man took our order for drinks only after informing us that the kitchen was very busy ( Well yes it was lunchtime!) 15 mins later we are still waiting for drinks when he comes to take our food order, 10 minutes later still waiting ask again, then the food arrives still no drinks. The problem apparently was that the ticket had not been sent to the kitchen via I-pad, how long have they been using this system? Give up on it and use a pen and pad !!The last few times I have been here the same problems. The waiter had seen us waiting several times and not thought to check with the kitchen ? The staff are all very friendly but completely gormless the place wasn’t even busy! I think you had better send all the staff including the kitchen to Wickham hall for training!! You’ve had enough chances, won’t be going back!

We had a lovely lunch here for my daughter's birthday during a hot day in June, and very much enjoyed our meal. There was plenty of choice on the menu for both food and drink, and it was delightful to sit out on the terrace. The cafe is also well situated in the middle of Stortford, so easy to get to from the main high street. The staff are particularly nice, and nothing was too much effort for them when we asked for a highchair. Thank you Rosey Lea. We will be back.

This was one of many visits to Rosey Leas. Normally come with friends but today treated my son to afternoon tea. The decor is bright and fresh. I love that you get a wide choice of sandwiches. My son really enjoyed his milkshake. The food is always fresh and tasty and the scones warm and fluffy. Staff are very friendly and accomodating. This is our second time to this establishment and we were not disappointed, as regular chai tea drinkers you won't get a better refreshing tea. Cakes and food to die for , and today was breakfast , beautiful ingredients and friendly staff . The prices are reasonable in today's world , can I just say well done to both waitresses who dealt professionally with that lady over her cappuccino, she wasn't a cappuccino expert as she made out , but believe me she tested both our patients, so we'll done to you both , and we'll done to all the staff , good service all round , I'll be back definitely for my chai

Taking my friend out for the first time after being very poorly. I entered the cafe no queue was there and four tables were empty. We sat at a table for 2. The waitress came up and said next time we came in could we wait at the door, where there wasn’t a member of staff, she was quite aggressive in her manner and I explained my friend is very poorly and I wanted to sit her down as soon as possible. She talked over me and repeated what she had just said. I have been a customer for many years and didn’t like her attitude at all!!! If you are changing your policy maybe you should make customers aware. I was extremely upset with her attitude and will think twice before returning.

This is the second time in as many visits I have left because no one bothered to come and take our order. On both occasions I visited after the lunch time rush and at least one member of staff were aware that we were there. On the first occasion, we were sat indoors near the window in full view of staff, a member of staff cleared plates from a table next to ours but didn’t come over to take our order. When we got up to leave someone did start to come over towards us but this time we were fed up waiting so we left. On the second occasion, we asked a member of staff if we could sit outside, after confirming that this was ok, we sat ourselves outside. Once again no-one came to take our order so we left. There are plenty of other nice places to eat so don’t think I will bother returning again which is a shame as this used to be my favourite place going for lunch in Bishop’s Stortford.

We stopped here for tea recently and whilst everything about the place itself is very nice, with friendly staff and good food and drinks, we all had sandwiches and unfortunately the bread was absolutely awful. It was the cheap processed rubbish you get from the supermarket. Why can't they just get some locally baked fresh bread, even from the nearby Sainsburys whose freshly baked loaves are actually very good. It was a real let down and whilst I would return, I wouldn't order sandwiches again.

Me and my mum decided to have a pit stop here, it looks charming and to be fair once you step inside, it is nice, the girls that serve are pleasant. We ordered two coffees, a toasted baguette and a slice of cake, the table was crumby, and when they didn’t wipe it, I wiped it myself on the floor (someone was walking round cleaning tables). Upon eating my baguette I noticed my fork was dirty, so I took it back and the girl exchanged it for clean cutlery, but it didn’t even look like it has been through the wash in the first place. The tea room was pricey and to be honest there are other places In bishops stortford, where you get better coffee and a clean table than this tea room.

Food is consistently good at this cafe. But the Wickham Hall one seems to be understaffed or maybe kitchen too small. Lovely young friendly lady welcomed us for breakfast. Mid Sunday morning, so more like brunch time! The tea room was busy - we ordered eggs (asked for poached but they dont do poached?!) and bacon and toast and jam. The butter that was served in little pre packed servings, as the weather is so warm, this was runny and not enough to spread for toast - but no-one really to ask for more without getting up and approaching the kitchen area (who had their heads down busy working away) so half the toast was left. A little tiny pot of jam served on the side - don't overdo it! Whilst the atmosphere is cosy and eclectic, the tables and chairs are tightly squeezed into a difficult shaped room so not overly comfortable. I feel I get better value for money with something a bit different down the road at Cote (which is unusual for me because I prefer non chains). It's a charming place, but I just didn't feel it!

Popped in on Sunday morning for a cuppa, lucky to get a table as it was very busy, friendly staff that cleared and cleaned tables promptly and not too long a wait for our order, which came together, unlike at other local places.......tea was very tasty, we'll be coming in more often!

Cosy litre tea shop. Decent portions. Think jacket potatoes or cream teas. Interior is quaint and kitsch. Can get busy so better to book.

Husband took his pancakes with maple syrup and bacon back as they was dry, waitress took them back and didn't hear anymore. We went to pay and the waitress said she had to check with the manager when I said to take it off the bill. This manager was the rudest woman I have ever met terrible all the staff are miserable and look down on everyone. She was refusing to take it off as she tasted them and they are fine, yes if you like dry dense pancakes and need a whole pot of tea to wash it down with, she didn't come over at the time he took them back to discuss it not even to apologise. Tea itself was nice but I wouldn't go back here as the staff are just so rude and unprofessional and it's them that let this place down

Love Rosey Lea's. The food is fresh and delicious and the service is friendly, helpful and efficient. The tea shop is clean and the china is pretty. The toasties are tasty and the coleslaw crunchy and saucy. The scones are home-baked and the cakes are wonderful.

This is a great place and mine and my friends and families 'to go' meeting point. Service may be a little slow to get your order but once the food is there it is great. Lovely food and a very relaxed atmosphere. Will always be back!

A great place for good coffee (and green tea on previous occasions) and a wonderful breakfast. A little quirky but so much better than those starmaking coastamongers down the road!

The Rose Lea is a very pleasant cafe to visit. The drinks and food are very good and so are their prices. They do a good selection of cooked food as well as snacks and cakes. They are located in the market square in the town. They also have bedrooms at the back so for any traveller needing accommodation as well this is ideal place. The only down side of the cafe is the steep steps going up to the door. Anyone with a babies buggy or someone disabled would not be able to get into the cafe.

Although my previous visit was some while ago, this beautifully-maintained venue has not changed. The environment, the service, and the food on my recent visit was as good as ever.

We are regulars here as we love the homemade pies. We meet regularly as a group of walkers and enjoy the food, wine and atmosphere. We bring our dog and sit in the snug dining area. We enjoy everything about this pub.
