Rose's Caribbean Cuisine in Watford

Had the jerk chicken, good quality ingredients, friendly staff, clean. But for me the jerk was way too mild I am used to it being spicy. Also imo a good jerk spot should always have some proper Caribbean mustard scotch bonnet hot sauce like baron, aunt May’s etc but none was available. Will return and give the curried goat a shot.

Most of our order wasn't delivered so our Saturday night meal was ruined. We weren't told of the missing items until the delivery driver informed us upon giving us our order. We've requested a refund. I'd rather have been phoned to be told then could have cancelled and ordered from elsewhere.

Ordered a delivery from here for my wife and I (jerk chicken and oxtail). Was slow to arrive and when it did, it had a note saying 'sorry no oxtail, put curry goat instead,hope its ok.' And the biggest problem; they didn't even put any goat in the bag!? So we only recieved the jerk. We could only get a refund for the food that didn't come so only one of us got dinner. Poor.

Ordered two mains and a side. Side and meal was cold and we didn’t receive the other main. Called the restaurant and they claimed to have tried to contact me to tell me the oxtail wasn’t available but I had no missed calls. Also, why was there the option to order the oxtail is they didn’t have any? They just told me to get a refund through Uber eats. Poor customer service, poor food (or lack of)

I’m sorry to say I ordered some food from kelly’s Caribbean cuisine and they forgot one of my order now when i rang the person on the phone was very rude and disrespectful to me kept saying sorry a hundred times then cut me off then i rang back the she kept saying lawwd god lawwd god, I’m sorry you have my money then you dare talk to your customer like that you need to reflect and learn your peoples skills we are the reason you have a business so show some respect. All this happen at 5:30pm 23/09/2023.

The food was nasty the rice was hard and I asked the lady on the front is it goat or mutton she lied and said it’s goat I bought some fish and asked what fish it was she lied about that too I would stay away worst carriebean food ever I have tried curry goat taste like it come out of a tin

Yes big man. I pass by Saturday and had the van on the road, was in a rushing. The food was well nice. Fried chicken, rice n peas wid curry gravy!! Next time mek sure two peace a curry meat deh pon the chicken. Rice n peas top notch! Patty was decent and flaky, one of the better ones I had. Soon reach back again. Bless! The food as u see in pictures and the rice it’s big separate but they combine all into one small box very little rice and peace of chicken, so ignore the pictures if you order beside in the picture u will get disappointed. It was supposed to be chicken separate and one separate rice alone plus gravy , u see it u will lough scammed. I will never buy it gain .

DEFINITELY coming back here again! Tried the jerk chicken and ate it in the van then went straight back in to order more! Portions are great and the taste is better! Maybe even the best I've had?!

Over an hour and half to say delivered then nothing is delivered to my door. Honestly I’ve sent an email already before it said delivered because nothing has come still

Tasty enough food but the inconsistency of service, portions and ratio of meat/rice means you only get looked after by the man that works the front. If the women are up front forget it. They are unnecessarily rude, meeting customers with put-out expressions like they don’t want to be there or you’re interrupting their chitchat in the back. For the amount of money they’re asking for they consistently give poor portions by bulking out with rice or bones. I remember when Roses was around with much nicer service and consistent portions. Being Afro-Caribbean myself it’s sad to see that trying to support the only Caribbean food shop on this high street is met with this kind of treatment. I wouldn’t recommend going in unless you see the guy up front and make sure he dishes your food.

I am sorry but this is not the usual Kelly’s / Rose. Curry goat - I can’t eat it taste nothing like curry goat had to spit the first mouthful out. I can’t eat it. The seasoning and meat is not curry goat.

The best dumplings I’ve ever had. The callaloo is always seasoned to perfection. Chickpea curry is hella tasty and the veggie patty is just the best flavor and perfect level of flaky.

I used to regularly order from here but this last order is my last. I received masses of rice and a few bones in sauce - instead of oxtail stew. Terrible - I wouldn’t feed it to a dog. It all went in the bin, and I won’t ever order from here again.

The food was average even after telling them to make it spicy they did not. As well as my food being 1 hr late- when I called the restaurant no apology was offered.

Delicious food. This is my second time ordering from them. Last time I had oxtail that was so delicious, was unavailable this time but the goat curry and curry chicken did not disappoint. Loved it. Every time I’m down in Watford I will order from them.

The food was nice but prices were expensive in my opinion. Service was fine but there was no real atmosphere.... I don't remember seeing any tables or areas to sit & eat a meal.

Ordered large curry goat, got small portion with 5 big bits of bone,hardly any meat and it was cold on arrival. First order here, disappointed.

Delicious food but not much meat at all, very rice heavy. More meat and sauce needed next time, ended up being quite dry.

The food is not hot, nearly warm and I do not own a microwave :( How does a large meal come in one container which is not even full with four little pieces of chicken like they baby chicken. Less than half the container with rice. This is some joke business. Not ordering here again.

70% rice in each "large" box. Disappointed as paid over 30 quid which is way more than I normally pay for other takeaways. I suppose this is why people stick to their favourites.

I had the Curry chicken and rice and peas. The aroma of the shop is delightful and the food is delicious it's the perfect spiciness for the first time eating it, definitely recommended! Definitely the best places I've ever eaten from.

Was a little cold, but once heated was beautiful the oxtail was lovely and soft

My steam veg was missing . Today I attempted to call the restaurant to state an item was missing however, I was hung up on. Tried calling back and was ignored. This was an expensive order and I am disappointed how I was treated. RIP Auntie Rose you would NEVER treat people this way. You are missed.

Again another superb experience at Kelly's . I had the most delicious oxtails ever. The meat was so tender and succulent that I could have eaten another portion! As for the jerk chicken it was marinated with authenticity and cooked to perfection . Whenever I feel the need to eat some ' homefood' Kelly's is the best place.

Food was delicious, and arrived earlier than anticipated. Will definitely order from here again. It's going to become my go to place to order from!

Asked for plain rice got rice an peas

2 out of 3 items ordered were wrong. 1 tub was open on arrival so spilled everywhere.

Ordered large curry chicken rice and peas, wanted both components of the food to be large. Instead I have got extra large rice and peas and extra small meat and curry sauce

There were items missing. In my order was 3 x salt fish patties I only received 1. Require a refund for those two items please.

The rice & peas and the fried dumpling were nice, but the curry chicken had no flavour to it at all. Very bland, no spice and the chicken didnt seem cooked. Have been suffering with stomach pain ever since. I wont be going there again.

May as well have ordered rice with bones as even though I ordered a large there was no meat on the bones!! Expect more meat instead of just rice when I order a dish for the amount I paid

Trust me I am Jamaican and know my food 😁 We have tried all the dishes on the menu and I must say each time we weren't disappointed. Every meals are prepared with passion & love - no rush. The curry goat/ mutton is tender and the spices just right...Escovitch fish is a must! You can taste the Carribbean in each spoonful ...The fish is nicely flavoured, spicy but not too hot and quite meaty. Needless to mention the 'festival' a sweet & fried dough which is a great accompagnement for this succulent dish. We washed it down with homemade juice ( carrot juice, fruit punch etc). You cannot beat this natural taste. I could go on and on....We cannot get enough of it! As for the staffs, they are pleasant, polite and always there with a smile to welcome you. All in all, Kelly's tick all the boxes, this gem is highly recommended❤️❤️❤️

Have driven past this place so many times and have said we have to try it, and today I’m so glad we finally did. We were so so happy with the food. We had jerk chicken, fried chicken, curry chicken, plantains, dumplings & rice and peas. Food was lovely, staff were lovely too. Honestly cannot fault the experience at all. If you’re in the area I highly recommend you give Kelly’s kitchen a try 👍
