This is a roadside travel stop cafe greasy spoon type establishment. Nothing more than that. A big uneven car park out front and inside this cafe is straight up. Plastic tables and chairs set out in rows. Open at 7am for those early workers who love a good fry up to get the day started. There is nothing spectacular here. Even the food isn’t spectacular but it’s alright. Friendly staff. All in all - not a groundbreaker but if you’re hungry you could do a lot worse.

Have eaten here lots of times and it's always good. Nice big breakfast served with bread and butter and a mug of tea or coffee for £9. Building can be a bit chilly in the winter and seating could do with updating, but cannot fault the food or staff. Parking outside. No frills good cafe.

Used by the motorcycle club I'm in as a general meeting point for ride outs. Car park isn't ideal for bikes. It's not the cleanest place I've been in.The food is expensive for what you get which isn't of the highest quality.. £9 for a breakfast in a greasy spoon is pushing it for two bits of previously cooked and reheated bacon, bubbles with not much squeak, a sausage made of cardboard, beans, two slices of bread some mushrooms and two eggs swimming in oil. I don't mind paying if the food is quality and not from a cash and carry discount warehouse. I also think it is really bad when you find 'Heinz' Tomato Sauce and 'HP' brown sauce bottles ones are filled with cheap imitations of the real thing (it is also slightly illegal!). It was my first visit and apart from the fact that I have to meet other people there it would be my last.

Good breakfast at a reasonable price, would recommend going if looking for a decent fry up. My son enjoys the hash browns.

The welcome was as expected warm and very friendly. The temperature in the cafe could have been a tad warmer, but the fare was served up in quick time. The steak and kidney pie came with chips that were freshly cooked and at £5.00 represented good value for money. My apple pie was served with loads of hot custard and that also tasted good. The tables were clean and tidy and there was a selection of daily newspapers to read if you so wished.

It's virtually impossible to find a decent fry up at a decent price in Chelmsford - but not here! The food is above average quality for a café with decent quality sausages. Prices are good. Only bad point is it can be a bit cold inside.

The cafe was welcoming, airy and warm considering that it was pouring with rain and for a summers day, cold. Space is limited and to get round this the tables and chairs are bolted in place. The chicken and mushroom pie and chips for £5, plus coffee at £1 is cheap for these days, even in a roadside cafe. The food was served in good time, with a smile. The plate was covered in freshly cooked crispy chips that were of good flavour. The chicken pie was very average, and the pot of gravy was worse. This didn't prevent us from having toffee pudding and custard that was a sure fire winner.

Mother’s Day lunch, warm welcome, great food and fantastic service from Hannah who is extremely attentive and helpful. Highly recommended venue for food and beverage. Compliments to all the staff involved for running a smooth operation.

My partner and I crossed wires, we both booked a table at the restaurant for Valentine's day! When we arrived the hostess didn't even greet us or look us in the eye, we tried to explain the mix up just to be told they would have to charge us a cancellation fee for the other table and add it to our bill... despite the restaurant being barely half full that night. My partner had booked the premium table and paid £30 in advance - add that to the cancellation fee of £30 they just told us they would charge and we're already £60 down for nothing... The hostess didn't know where to sit us! She seemed confused and just dumped us on a table. We were just seated on a table for 4... nothing special about it at all - complete con for £30 'Premium' table (which is not even deducted off your bill, by the way). It took a while for someone to take our drinks order. Then it took another long while for someone to take our food order. When we asked for the set menu, we were told it was not available. So we then needed more time to pick other dishes. Attempt number 2, the first dish we asked for we were told was also not available! Guests should be told when they are seated if something is not available to them on the menu - such a waste of time. As sushi does, it comes out whenever it's ready in the kitchen. We had order lots of small plates and the waiting staff would come over, hover over us waiting for my partner and I to move all the plates around on the table to make room while we were trying to eat - so unprofessional. When I asked the waiter what one of the dishes was, he looked confused, nervous and said "umm, I don't know, it's X I think" gave a small laugh and walked away. The sushi was OK, but the pork belly bites were hard and BURNT. The long waits and average food could be forgiven if the service was outstanding. But the staff are in desperate need of training, confidence and personable skills with guests. It's such a shame. It's a lovely venue and used to be great.

I had cod and chips curry sauce it was £13.10. The fish was terrible. I took the batter off the top of the fish and there wasn’t hardly any fish inside and the bottom of the batter was like rock cake. I will never ever go there again and I have pictures to prove it I reckon in six months Debbie shot, because people won’t stand or pay that sort of money for rubbish meal

Staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms leaving something to be desired, not a bad size, just not overly clean. Found a few stray hairs in the bathroom. And quite a few marks on the carpets in the corridors. Its worth paying the extra and just going to a Premier Inn.
