Rose of India in Milton Keynes

Venturing over the border into Buckinghamshire away from our usual Bedfordshire Curry Tour, we cam across this absolute gem! The restaurant is tucked away and not immediately easy to find, but we are glad we did! The restaurant itself was spotless and tastefully decorated. The food was simply outstanding and probably immediately into our top 3 Indian Restaurants that we have personally visited, ate at and reviewed. Poppadums and pickles were fine – although the pickle tray was a little dull compared to some of our recent visits elsewhere. Certainly, good enough to be enjoyed! Starters were excellent, the usual Onion Bhajis used as comparison test were fantastic and homemade. Not at all greasy as some are sadly found to be. My fellow reviewers also reported that the chicken puree and kebab were superb. Main courses were equally as good, if not even better. Full of taste, flavour and heat – special mention must be made of the cheese, saag (spinach) and garlic naan, which was probably the best naan bread we have had anywhere! The food cannot be faulted in any way – first class in every respect. Special mention must be made about the waiting staff. What a delight to have cheerful, pleasant and chatty waiters. Their customer service was again some of the best we have experienced everywhere and certainly a big factor of us wanting to return again soon! In summary, The Rose of India is without doubt worth travelling to (it took us 40 mins) but we’d happily travel even further as the quality at every level was outstanding. Look no further if you want a fantastic Indian, as you have found one of the very, very best!

Delivered on time * food hot But.....Naan bread was wafer thin& half the usual size!! Was also charged for onion salad which I usually get free of charge....no free poppadoms. Either.......All round pretty standard.

Food was nice but poppadoms were missing which is why I bought loads of sides for them. Over half hour early too.

Food was amazing best one we found while staying close by, delivery took way to long not sure if it was a busy night or not but 1hr 30 mins I felt was excessive go wait for 2 curries, apart from that I would eat from here again if I was visiting the food made up for the wait.

Always great taste. They take notice of and act on order notes/requests. Delivered hot, with care and by friendly people. My number one go to!

The lamb was delicious - so tender. Very very tasty meals - just unfortunate as there was no spice to it at all (and I did request extra spice for both lamb dishes) It lacked the heat really and made it slightly disappointing. But very tasty, quick, and good quality meat

This Indian meal was the best I have had in a long time. It was absolutely delicious. It arrived hot so no reheating was required. I would definitely recommend Rose Of India to anyone who wants a great quality, tasty Indian.

Food arrived on time and was piping hot. They make some of the best curry. I had chicken passanda, garlic rice and 2 garlic naan. Delivery guys are always friendly and polite as well. Recommended.

After deciding to try to find somewhere to eat out at the last minute on New Year's Eve we managed to get in at the Rose of India. We were so lucky. Despite fitting us in late the owner assured us that we would not be rushed to finish and he was true to his word. All the staff were friendly and helpful throughout our whole meal even when my daughter accidentally spilt her plate onto the floor. Nothing was too much trouble. All our food was tasty and beautifully cooked. My wife raved about her dansak, the lamb was tender and the sauce perfect. Prices are very reasonable and we will definitely be returning to eat there again. Thank you for making our New Year's eve so memorable.

Madras and onion bhajis very greasy tonight

Ordered as my usual Indian was closed. Won't order again. A tray of korma sauce and four tiny pieces of chicken and I mean tiny. Ordered four portions and they all four pieces in. Tasted ok but wouldn't order again.

This is the only place i order from when i want a good curry, it's always tasty. Usually delivered early. Delivery drivers are always polite and cheerful

I'm a repeat customer of the Rose of India, their food is consistently fresh and delicious. Delivery is always on time. I've tried most of the local Indian takeaways and I have no hesitation in recommending this one.

Negatives: Food was luke warm. Ordered a keema naan hardly any meat inside and the edge was quite thick and doughy. Not many pieces of chicken in the masala and overall colour and taste not very authentic. The onion bhajis were cold in the middle. 1 Positive: Had a quarter chicken tikka which was tasty and good size. Heard so many positives about this takeaway but disappointed with my meal. Very competitive in this area, really needs to do better.

I have used delivery from this restaurant before and found it was one of the best i had. The food eaten in the restaurant that i had tonight was spot on. The flavours in the curries were strong but not overbearing. The meats were cooked very tender and juicy, not dry. Friendly service and quick. Always my go to for indian curry!

We always order from rose of India and we're never disappointed! We've found the dishes we looove (pasanda and murgh makahni) and very rarely change, we also always order the onion bhajis as they are made gluten free, and to diiiiie for! Always come here for food and never disappointed, the flavour is authentic and service is always 100percent I would recommend this place for in restaurant dinning and takeaway and all food is reasonably priced

I ordered keema nan, I expect there to be a bit more meat inside, think that at nearly £4.00 there should be more than one little bit of meat

Yes I expected price increases but wasn’t expecting the flavours to change not sure what spices are put in Dhansak but whatever it was spoilt the whole curry will not be ordering again

I was amazed how quickly the food arrived but I think they forgot the king prawns on the puri. It tasted lovely and I was too hungry to do anything about it but definitely no king prawns, not even little prawns. A little disappointing as the speed of delivery was great and the food was piping hot and tasted delicious.

Delivery driver was polite and friendly but korma was very runny and prawn cocktail was watery and food all lacked flavour food was just warm when arrived

The food was not tasty lacked spices and was very bland. The lamb tikka was bright red. Peshwari naan was plain. Rice was okay. Recommend changing your chef I will stick with my usual Indian restaurant.

Ordered a lamb madras from here and other food was disappointed to find out that the lamb was not lamb but mutton witch to those who don't know this is old sheep. If there going to put lamb on the menu they need to make sure that it is lamb I won't be ordering from there again.

I recently moved back to mk, I used rose of India over 20 yrs ago and ordered from them 1st time since moving back! I was not disappointed, absolutely gorgeous food, arrived on time, piping hot and delicious I will certainly be ordering again

The food quality was pathetic. I had to throw all the food in the bin as it was not at all edible. I won't be recommending anyone to have food from here. The food taste was so horrible that it didn't went down the throat so it went to bin. Horrible experience

Delicious as always, and restaurant are happy to make gluten free which is fantastic! We've ordered here a lot in the last 4 months and we've never been disappointed!

Another amazing meal from rose of India

Both currys were a little watery and the chicken was stringy. Slightly made up for it as we seemed to have a few extra breads (could have been from someone elses order), but did help the disapointment. However, the restaurant did read the notes on the order and removed the bits we did not want in the food, so thumbs up for that.

The bombay aloo was so watery and not the usual colour. The chicken tikka masala was also very watery, hardly any chicken and didn't taste creamy. Also mixed kebab was burnt 😡
