Akasaka in Milton Keynes

Beautiful authentic Japanese food, first time that we visited so it will become our new local. Good choice for vegans too.

My daughter is in love with this place. And I'm impressed by the food and the service quality.

Came in today for dinner with my 10yo. He is the sushi lover not myself so the following is his review. The taste was amazing, the wait time was fast , the designs were pretty, the food looked nice when first impression, the music was calm, my honest opinion is amazing, have a great time!!

We have eaten in the restaurant, but most recently it has been a take away experience. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful, very striking, with attention to detail. Space between tables is good and table sizes allow for all dishes to be put out. My personal favourite is tempura prawns - vegetable noodles and the starters are perfect for getting you ready for the main. Portions are plentiful. This is a gem of a restaurant.

Really nice place with excellent food. We had spicy seafood ramen, beef yaki udon, and prawn yaki udon. Top drawer, and good value too. We're here for a gig at the Crauford Arms so we're not really local, but we'll be back again next time were here. Thanks.

The food is amazing! I love their Ramen and Gyozas a lot. It's a bit expensive but you get what you pay for here, and the atmosphere is great! My favourite Japanese restaurant!

Loved it don't have it to often and prefer to sit in. My dad took me for a meal here first week it opened so have memories to cherish as he passed away 7years ago. But absolutely loved it then and still love it now. A real Treat : )

Small restaurant but fabulous food

Just perfect . Ten of us went for a birthday celebration and each meal was delicious and enjoyed ( we all rated this place so much - had to write a review ) . Service was brilliant , will definitely go back !

I ordered a take away for collection. I was told it would be 20 minute wait but it was only 10 minutes. I sat and waited as I did not mind. It was empty in the restaurant, only one couple arrived for dinner. It was very cold and I would not have wanted to dined in. The food was tasty. Unfortunately by the time I had got home with my take away I noticed my side salad missing and no salt on the edamame. Great food overall, but items shouldn’t be missing for a simple one person order.

Best sushi in Milton Keynes, food is really good, sushi rolls are excellent and the treat can not be better, akasaka is always a good choice if you want to enjoy good food!

My favourite place for sushi in Milton Keynes. Service is attentive and polite. Bit pricey but the quality is present and you really can taste the difference compared to other sushi places in the area. The sashimi are amazing, just melt in the mouth. Fresh ingredients and food preparation mean that there's a little wait, especially when the place is busy. It's quite a small restaurant, so booking is advised, especially on weekends.

Celebrate birthday with my wife. The food was delicious and service was fantastic. We had Eel Teriyaki rice and assorted sushi which were excellent. Can’t wait to visit again.

I have lived in MK for 9 years and this time I come back to visit with my wife and daughter. Japanese restaurant is a good substitute for fish and chips. We found this small restaurant in Wolverton opposite Lidl. We had the appetizers Korean Kimchi and Chinese seaweed, both are of great standards. Then we had the crispy fried dumplings and sushi rolls . My wife took the eels rice, my daughter had the beef Yaki udon, and I took the eel teriyaki. Finally we had the Japanese ice-cream. The shop is not big so we had a quiet and cosy evening. The next Sunday evening we came back with my friend Andrew's family and this time we had a birthday celebration in the next table. It was warm and lively. Didn't expect such a place in this old area.

Food quality has been lowered a lot. Sushi rice it's not what suppose to be. It's s shame as we used to enjoy having dinner there. The service charge they add to the bill it's something that apparently they think will help to the business 😅

If you love Sushi/Sashimi, definitely this place is right for you. Small, great service and food. A bit expensive but worth it, they make it to order, so it does take time to arrive on the table, the fish are so thick but soft, melts on your tongue. My advice is to book, if you what to go, as they only have 30 seatings. My boyfriend and daughter have been here a few times but this was my first time and will not be my last.

The restaurant itself is quite small but nice, sits about 30 covers. It's was fully booked today. Great service, amazing food. Sashimi are to die for, the fish were so soft, literally melts in your mouth. As everything is made fresh to order, it does take a while for the food to arrive. This is definitely one of our favourite places to go and eat. So please make sure you book if you want to try and I think you should😉

The origin of Aksaka, still serving amazing food, that is a cut above other restaurants! Really nothing to fault in service or food. It was very quiet when we were in, so this is only reason to take 1x star off.

I was really excited to try this place. It's one of only Japanese restaurants in the area so I thought it would be a nice evening out but it was disappointing. The rice was gluey, the yakitori was deep fried, the tempura was not freshly made. Bibimbap really needed seasoning and we could hear the microwave being used a lot. We hadn't eaten all day so we did eat most of our meal but we were so disappointed in the quality compared to the price. It's too bad because there aren't many other similar options around.

Very cosy environment with great service and food.

Really surprised this place has such good reviews. Very small amounts of fish in the tuna avocado roll and they told another guest they had to wait 30mins as they were defrosting it.

The scallops sushi surprised me a lot! I’ve never thought of eating something comparable to the foods I had in Japan! Really fresh & tasty, even without any soy sauce nor wasabi! I like the freshly made udon as well. Chewy and the saltness was just-right. The crispy dumplings with rich fillings are also recommended. Great food, celebrating a birthday, so we went all out on the sushi. Fantastic food made fresh to order so expect a wait and order some tempura prawns to eat while you wait.

Take-away (Tofu Teriyaki) probably the worst meal in the world. No stars preferably. Only fit for the bin

We visited the restaurant with friends for a birthday treat.we had sharing platter of each and a main dish ,the was freshly prepared and was excellent .the staff was very courteous and professional.

The restaurant has this musky smell. Their soft shell crab looked like they scrapped the bottom of the ocean to put it together. No straws provided.

We booked, and then read the last couple of reviews here and wondered what our night would be like.. Well, we can happily say that any issues with cold or service were invisible to us. The restaurant appeared to have taken note of the previous reviews and had made sure there was heating and the restaurant was warm. We were able to choose where we would like to sit and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. The food we ordered was excellent, the telling pont was my partner ponting out I was attempting to eat every tiny iota from my plate with chopsticks. - I was just focused on trying to make sure I didn't miss out on a single tasty morsel! Service was cheerful, knowledgable and attentive during the meal but not overbearing at all, and responsive when needed - no haplessly trying to catch anyones eye, they were discretely paying attention and responded immediately when we wanted anything. Overall a very enjoyable, unrushed and relaxed experience. Will definitely be going again!

We have been regular diners here for some years. Never had an issue but, unfortunately, tonight has put us off going back again. We booked but were seated right by the door. I was a bit apprehensive as it's a very cold night but thought we would be looked after and maybe it would be OK. I was wrong. The restaurant was so cold I and my husband had to eat in our coats and still, I was shivering all the way through our meal. I asked the waitress if we could be moved as there were a few empty tables . We were told no and told maybe sitting side by side would help! I used the ladies facilities and it was absolutely freezing in there. This is not good enough frankly. My husband ordered a second beer and had to ask again 15 minutes later and they weren't busy enough to warrant the delay. Our last course we waited 30 minutes (30 very cold minutes that is) I have come home not only cold to the core but extremely disappointed at the decline in service and ambiance we experienced today. Can we please have the old service back because unless it is returned we won't be. Came home and saw another review about the cold so thus isn't a one off.

Just wow. I’m admittedly highly critical of a lot of the food I’ve had since relocating to the UK from the States, but I could find no fault in Akasaka Wolverine. Booked for 6:30 PM on a Saturday. Cozy and quiet, looked like a date night for most of us except for the family that sat next to us. Service was prompt at first but I feared it began to lag a bit until we received our first courses. I have to say there was no real discernible order to our food when it arrived. At first I was a bit annoyed, then I realized the chef was preparing our food in such a way as it was fresh. We ordered: spicy tuna roll, salmon roll, yakitori skewers, miso soup, edamame, and beef bulgogi. The hot dishes arrived sizzling hot and full of flavor. The sushi was fresh and lovely, the edamame was, well, edamame. The beef bulgogi came on a bed or rice and pepper slices and was the best I’ve had. One of the best dinners we e had in the past few years. Get the yakitori!!

Nice and decent place. Can't remember the servers name but she was excellent she was from Zimbabwe and very friendly. Food was a major disappointment though we still paid for it and didn't make a fuss fuss as it was closing time and they politely told us they will be closing soon. Would I go back for the food... no. Expensive and poor presentation and flavour. It was just a bunch of food mixed and tossed on a plate

I went to Akasaka many years ago, what can I say, amazing food , great service and an all in all great night. However I returned this evening with much excitement..what can I say? ..freezing cold temperature inside. We had to eat our 'not cheap' food in scarfs and a coat and all of the other tables had coats on too. We mentioned this to staff who made a pointless attempt to turn the heating up. At one point I had to pull my jumper sleeves over my hands to warm them up. The food was great but obviously went cold in seconds...such a shame that the sheer coldness of this establishment ruined the entire experience. Upon paying the bill I commented to the waitress about how cold it was in there...reply; " yes it is cold this time of year." Yes outside for sure, hence why we fork out to go and eat in what should be nicely heated establishments..What a tiny error that could have made the experience soo much better

We went here last night and the food was amazing, three of us went my husband daughter and my self, we tried the Yakisoba and sashimi, the staff were very helpful and so friendly in a professional way. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone and will definitely go back

The sushi here is top notch. You'll leave full up with a starter and a combi meal. Don't though. Try something like the octopus and scallop sashimi. The octopus, tough and fullsome of flavour and texture, then the scallop, which melts in one bite. Two great different types of sashimi. The service is incredible. Need help? You won't wait longer than seconds to be served. One bit of feedback! Add in tipping on your card system. Cash only in this climate might mean people skipping out. We wanted to tip!

Food is delicious staff and presentation is absolutely awesome! Only small niggles are the restaurant is abit dark, and small and parking is a little hit and Miss advise parking in Lidl or Tesco carpark if driving! But this is such a minor thing compared to the delicious food

Amazing dinner birthday meal for my friend's 30th. Normally this place is really busy but we managed to get a nice corner table. The waitress was really friendly and gave us some excellent recommendations. They also decorated our table specially for the occasion

I will admit that the prices here have gone up reasonably significantly and the bill is markedly higher compared to pre-Covid, but this restaurant is one of the few places where I really don't mind - I'm happy to pay for the experience. We've been a few times since the rules were relaxed and it's still at the top of our list. I will admit to being completely biased because we all love Japanese stuff generally in our house, but even so I don't think I'm over-stating anything by saying this place is fantastic. The service is always lovely, despite the menu not changing very much there's still a difficulty in choosing what to have, we always have a good time and the kids (well, 16 and 19 now...) love it. It's become their go-to (when dad offers to pay!). One of the best things about the place is the consistency. It was a tiny bit shaky when the Covid rules were finally relaxed, but it's back to the well-oiled kitchen that we knew pre-pandemic - you always know what you're getting.

Have been several time now to this restaurant along with there other restaurant in CMK. Every time has been great food and service. Sushi is always fantastic and is reasonably priced. Parking if the main road is busy, you can use Tesco car park.

The food is really good, very fresh and delicious, good presentation, one of the best I've ever been to, good quality of food it's comparable to the best sushi restaurants in London, service is excellent, staff are friendly and smiley. I'll definitely come back. We've a very enjoyable, happy and relax evening dinner there.

Definitely the best sushi in town and good service. I come from a city where there is the biggest Japanese colony outside of Japan, São Paulo Brazil, I learned to eat Japanese food since I was a kid and I'm a big fan. This restaurant have high quality seafood and the rice is very tasty as for good sushi rice is 90% more important than fish and they know it very well there.

Visited on Saturday night and the sushi was amazing especially the tuna belly and the drinks were delicious. Loved the friendly and relaxed non rushed atmosphere. Met the manager and he was so welcoming, sweet and hospitable.

This is a quaint restaurant, not too many tables. Highly recommend booking a table. Service is excellent and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is fresh and delicious. Not too many vegetarian options for sushi but there are starters and other dishes. We’ve been here a few times and it never disappoints. It’s quite a drive about 40 mins from is but it’s worth it. This is my go to place for Japanese food.

Always good, but decided to review just to add that the young waitress with blonde hair who served us just before Christmas was very friendly and helpful and made the experience that little bit better. Good waiting staff are worth their weight in gold. Don't need to mention the food it's always spot on.

Had some lovely food. I went with katsu curry as I'm not massively adventurous, which is a shame as the menu was very different and impressive. Service was lovely, polite and friendly, there was no feeling rushed by them. Great place =)

We have been here before, quite a few times, but have not been for a couple of years. We went this evening and were really impressed. The food was incredible, and the service outstanding; it seems like this place has really stepped up a notch! We were even offered some tasters of Korean wine which was really interesting. We ended up having a few rounds of sushi and then finishing with some tempura. Fantastic! Cannot wait to return.

Ordered 4 appetisers and a bottle of wine, each was extremely overpriced, burnt, tasteless or had paper stuck to it and the house wine was terrible. We ordered a main that we cancelled after having the appetisers. Wouldn’t recommend

This place is so good I should tell you not to go here so I can have it to myself! The food is incredible. I mean they did not miss a beat on a single dish. It's a relatively small restaurant perfect for close friends or family. There is a larger Akasaka in central MK probably better for larger parties. Although for me this place is a gem in a sea of mediocrity.

Been to a few Japanese restaurants and this is utterly genius. Soft shell crab is better than Nobu FACT. Customer service is amazing. A fabulous experience.

An excellent venue! Truly delightful, ticking all the boxes. Wonderful food, friendly helpful staff, all at a great price. 2 of us with drinks spent under £60 and had several dishes each. Servers were super friendly and helpful, I've missed service like this. But the food. Delightful! I will admit, my first sushi post lockdown (1-3) but, this really was of a great standard. Tuna belly sashimi, spicy California roll, tuna rolls, endamame, Tori Karaage and a beef yaki soba. Where to start...? The noodles in yaki Siva were excellent, not overcooked with a little bite to them. Loads of veggies and generous with the beef strips in there too. The sushi rolls were really good, fresh, a little bit of chew but just holding the fresh delicate fish inside. The tuna sashimi was fresh, soft melt in the mouth morsels that disappeared too soon. Yes I'm going back, yes I'll recommend it and I'll order more next time as well. Loved it.

Second visit to Akasaka and it was so good - again! Tasty starters, incredible mains and the mochi ice cream balls were so good! The server was fantastic and we felt very COVID safe x
