We visited Bingham for a few days and were delighted to find this wonderful little bistro. The outdoor seating area is beautiful with flowers and herbs. The menu is varied with an emphasis on local food. The owner spoke to us about the local cheeses, cured meats, ham and bread. We had a delicious ham and mustard baguette which was freshly made and one of the best we have eaten. The shop inside is packed full of local and handmade produce such as beer, cider, chutney, preserves, oils, vinegars etc etc all from a few miles away. The owner and staff were all engaging and very pleasant. A real must for visitors to Bingham.

Before I repost my original review, which was removed because the owner falsely told trip advisor my review was in breach of its rules, which it is not, I didn’t see the email from trip advisor sent in the 4th as I work as a nurse in the NHS and work unsociable hours, I can’t believe the sheer petulance of an owner trying to silence someone’s personal opinion. Flagging my review won’t make your coffee less tasteless, your waiter less scruffy, your shop more interesting, all feedback is good feedback if you take it in the manner it’s intended, which is to make you improve. We visited the wonderful market town of Bingham visiting family for a fortnight in the vale of belvoir. We stumbled across the courtyard which was a hidden gem of shops containing boutiques health shops hairdressers and a wooden toy shop, we actually visited the courtyard twice on our stay to pick up gifts for home. When we arrived in the courtyard the waiter was stood round the back smoking and talking to another person, after a brief stroll around we decided to get coffee and asked the waiter if we could sit anywhere, there was no one else about and he said we could sit wherever. He returned a few moments later with a menu which contained a very basic selection of offerings, although hungry there was very little on the menu that took my fancy, I asked what they had on the menu that was local and was told the bread was from a local bakery, we just had coffee, it was overly bitter and quite weak, and even with Extra sugar was still unpalatable. When paying I had a browse around the inside which is fitted out to be a shop with a tiny almost pointless deli counter fridge containing products covered over in paper, the waiter who had served us was also the person who makes the food and drink, it was at this point I became aware of how over bearing the smell of cigar smoke was on his person, which as a food handler I think you need to take care in your appearance and hygiene, I was actually quite put off by his general scruffy appearance and overbearing smell of cigar and even though I had only had a coffee it made me feel quite sick. I was personally surprised by how highly rated this business was, perhaps my experience was unlucky, perhaps the scruffy food handler was having an off day, but my consensus was it lacked identity, lacked local menu options, and lacked direction.

Whether you want a hearty lunch (or bistro meal available on Friday evenings), a sandwich made with locally sourced bread or just a coffee, from local roaster, then Rose & May has it all. Loose leaf teas, served in pots with strainers are also served (supplied by another local, small business). The marvels that are produced in the small but perfectly kitted out galley kitchen are very tempting. Don't get me started on the cakes!!! Throughout lock-down, Ian & his fabulously friendly team have worked above & beyond to keep everyone safe & supplied with all manner of foods & drinks. If you venture for a lunch or bistro evening, be sure to check out the varied drinks (alcohol in/out) as there will definitely be something to complement your food.

We had a wonderfully tasty meal, as a chilled take away option, from the talented chef, Ian, at R&M. Beef Bourgignon, with 2 sides, generously portioned & beef so tender (locally sourced). It was suitably adapted to our particular diet (Gluten & dairy free). We had a bottle of wine with it too...the fab red, called Flic. We made a night of it & watched a film too. Cheers, enjoy. We shall be back, again!

Good quality food at a reasonable price. A wide and varied menu . Due to lockdown we had a delivery from the bistro menu. It came to us chilled. Warmed up in the microwave in the containers they came in. Then I served on plates. Delicious

This is a hidden gem in Bingham. We go there in the daytime for snacks, cakes and coffee. It’s great to sit outside after a long walk with our dog. Seating outside in the daytime is in a pleasant courtyard with several independent stores. We have also been to the bistro nights where the food is excellent quality at a reasonable price. There is always a friendly welcome from Ian and his staff. Cakes, jams etc are all homemade and we can’t recommend it highly enough. We try to go at least once a week.

Lucky Bingham for having such a lovely Cafe/Bistro. Classic dishes with TOP quality ingredients and great prices to boot. I visited mid morning and had a pot of tea and a very light not too sweet Victoria sponge cake - both tea and cake heavenly.Later on I met up with my sister and God-daughter for lunch. I had Smoked salmon and mackerel salad and L had tuna Melt my sister had the smoked salmon salad we hardly spoke as we enjoyed our lunch. Looking forward to my next visit.Thank you Rose and May you deserve a Michelin star.⭐️

I have visited Rose and May on many occasions for lunch or a lovely cup of freshly brewed tea and always enjoyed it.They are now branching out into evening meals on certain Fridays called bistro nights. Based on the quality of their lunches myself and a friend decided to go last night. It was excellent. The menu was small consisting of a choice of two starters mains and desserts. We had the pork terrine followed by the carbonnade of beef. Both were excellent. Before the starter we were treated to an amuse bouche of cauliflower soup which was very tastyThere was a lovely choice of wine and we chose the les petite recoltes which suited the food and fitted in with the french theme of the evening. There was french music playing in the background which was apt and made a wonderful change from modern pop music. Although not on the menu my friend fancied some cheese which caused Ian no problem and for a small additional cost we were provided with a lovely plate of cheese.I followed the cheese with a creme brûlée which was just the right texture. We then had coffee. All this came in at a tad over £70 for two people which is excellent value for money. The set menu is £24 eachI write this review because they deserve credit however the venue is small and I worry that when word gets out how good it is i will find it hard to get a table as it will be booked up . Therefore I have already booked for two more visits.

We stopped in Bingham on our way to a short break in Lincolnshire and found this little tea room/cafe. Very small interior but lots of outside seating in a lovely courtyard. We had a lovely lunch of Croque Monsieur and my partner had smoked mackeral salad. We shared a taste of each and both were excellent. The gentleman who runs it was very friendly and gave us lots of ideas for places to visit on our break which was very much appreciated. He and his wife make everything themselves and grow a substantial amount of what is on offer. Definitely worth visiting for a super lunch and a friendly welcome. Thank you very much to the owners.

Fab little gem, only came across this by accident a couple of weeks ago. I popped in today for a quick coffee & cake. The 2 girls serving was lovely and polite, made me feel very welcome. I had the courgette & lemon cake, it was soooo yummy. I was a little put off with the courgette in the title of the cake but decided to give it ago and so glad it did. I sat outside in the sun and it was just perfect. I will defo be going again, 10 out of 10 :)

My wife and I drove over to Bingham from Nottingham to go to Rose & May after buying some of its produce ( Preserves and Mustard ) at the Taste of Rushcliffe Market as we were SO impressed by the gentleman who owns it and his attitude and passion of what he sold and we were NOT disappointed and well worth the trip we had a delicious Smoked Salmon and Crayfish salad for lunch that had wonderful fresh tomatoes and salad leafs and olives in it and a wonderful home made salad dressing and freak that day bread from Hambleton Bakery and had some freshly made coffee ☕️ the whole thing was delightful and we were able to sit outside in the sunshine ☀️ and afterwards we bought some more things from the shop like a rough French Pate and an amazing Horseradish Mustard and some of Rose and Mays Summer Fruits Preserve , although the Deli / Cafe is not very big there are lots of things to buy and the gentlemen who owns it is SO charming and helpful explaining all about everything that Rose & May produce , we would highly recommended it and if you are ever in Bingham go and enjoy it and we will definitely be going back and telling family and friends all about it and hope that Rose & May continue their success.

We popped in for Afternoon Tea, and it was brilliant! The staff/owner couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. They even offered a choice of pescatarian sandwiches and switched the tea for a hot chocolate. Every bit of it was tasty from the crab sarnies to the scone - which was the best bit in my eyes - and the macarons. It's a bit off the beaten track but make sure you find it if you're in Bingham, you won't be disappointed!

Sat out in the courtyard in beautiful sunshine, we both had delicious Croque Monsieurs made with sourdough bread, home cooked ham, local cheese and grain mustard. The side salad was just as good made with mixed leaves, sun blushed tomatoes, black olives and a very good dressing. This is such a lovely place to visit in the old post office yard regardless of weather or time of day. I often visit with a book and have several coffees and a sandwich or wrap. In summer the owner stays open a little later so we visit for a glass of wine outside on the lovely outside seating which seems a bit of a novelty in Bingham! We will continue to be regular customers here!!!

A charming little family run café and deli with a smashing range of dishes and drinks. Rose & May features items from many local producers (the Belvoir Ridge and Lincolnshire Poacher cheeses are a must!) along with carefully chosen quality suppliers. Service is warm, knowledgeable and friendly. The coffee is a winner. Rose & May has a lovely unfussy 'French' character to it. Highly recommended.

I met friends here today for lunch. It's a small cafe/deli specialising in French and Italian food and wine. I enjoyed artichoke hearts, stuffed peppers with tuna, balsamic infused onions and a variety of delicious dips. As soon as I mentioned I was gluten free the owner (and cook) was excited to get creative and provide me with a tasty platter. It was refreshing to be served by an establishment so keen to accommodate my needs. The wine was imported and absolutely delicious. A lovely place to sit out in the sunshine and it has a shop so that you can purchase some of the foods and wines on offer.

We had an amazing brunch at Sustainable Kitchen on Sunday. Easy booking on line, but I'm sure walk in would also have been fine. Lovely friendly atmosphere. REALLY good coffee, I had the Leek & Cheese tart, which was delicious and Mart had the Reuben - very generous size sandwich and, again, delicious. I finished with the Spiked Signature Hot Chocolate ......seriously good! All in all, a great way to pass the time on a cold Sunday. Looking forward to returning for an evening visit soon.
