We have been to the Rose quite a few times now and love the atmosphere. It is a very welcoming pub and the staff are great. This visit was a cheese and wine night which was amazing with lots of variety and very appetising. Our previous visit had been afternoon tea which was equally as good. I wish we were nearer as we would visit a lot more often.

Had some lovely roasts delivered from the Rose a couple of Sundays ago and have collected a couple of roasts since. Both times really tasty. Visited the pub for lunch this week for the first time. Sat outside on the terrace which is part inside but with one end open so fresh air surrounding us. All tables a fair space apart. Meals were excellent and plentiful. We had steak and ale pie, cod and chips and chicken burger and chips - all delicious. Crumble and profiteroles for dessert and then coffee - topped it off very nicely! Will definitely eat in again, and when we can't will have the roast as a takeaway on a Sunday. Thanks again to the Rose for some lovely meals.

Well went to visit The Rose Inn this morning for breakfast, website says opening times 9:30 am - 22:00pm. Turned up at 10:00am no sign of life all blinds down no signs anywhere to explain why. I think website needs to be reviewed

Looks like it’s only recently been taken over and it’s been refit and decorated really nicely. Very welcoming new landlords, lovely beer garden and great Pinot Grigio.

We've been to the Rose a couple of times since the change of management and I'm happy to say it's still a friendly little country pub , just as it was before the changes. Food is still available , and still at a great price . For us its a 50 mile round trip to visit the Rose - and it's still worth it.

Recently visited for evening meal and didn’t disappoint. Great food, great service and pleasant surroundings. Should be no 1 in Southminster in my opinion!

We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at the Rose in Southminster. It’s not huge but has a wide menu of meals, sandwiches and kids’ meals. Veggie chilli and scampi were particularly good. Seven of us ate meals and drinks for under £60 and kids were entertained by table football and darts. We are planning to return for music bingo night!

Went here the other Friday with my partner, found very good reviews online especially about the portions sizes and it didn’t disappoint! Nachos and the jalapeño poppers were good followed by Scampi & Fish and Chips. The other reviews don’t lie, the chips are huge! Could barely even finish half of them they were that big. Would definitely recommend if you are in the Burnham area and want both good food and value for money.

The Rose Inn is a quaint, typically English-style pub with a very friendly staff and great pub-style food. I even tried and liked the mushy peas! Others in our group had the Tuna Panini which came with a large salad. It was also very surprising to see the large area out the back of the pub which hosts bands and dart flights.

Known as one of the best places to eat for Lunch in the Dengie and they are not wrong. I have been to the Rose Inn for lunch a few times and enjoy each visit. It's nice and secluded from the nearby towns located between Southminster and Burnham-on-Crouch. In and outdoor seating available.

If you fancy visiting a quaint old pub a little off the beaten track, then you will like the Rose Inn. The staff there are very friendly, there is a nice atmosphere there, which makes it a good place for a nice pint. They can also provide you you with some food if you wish, all for a very reasonable price.

Our first visit to the Rose was for Sunday breakfast , small and compact, but an extensive menu, quickly taken order by pleasant staff, local radio playing and a mixture of clients from all ages made for a relaxing Sunday breakfast, this place must be good because people arriving were certainly known by the staff and greeted as friends. The food was super, plenty and well cooked the price was unbelievable such good value to the point I queried the bill , we will be returning for breakfast the next Sunday I have off .

Visited Tuesday for lunch brilliant. Clean good food and good service, so booked for the Saturday evening....apalling! ! It's small inside approx 5 tables, we waited for over half an hour for our order to be taken, we did receive an apology. We waited for over an hour for our dinner. We ordered 4 main courses they only cooked 3. We had almost finished our meal when the last meal arrived. Again we received an apology and a bottle of wine. We then had to chase the waitress to place our dessert order. During the meal a guy with three dogs came into the restaurant sat and had a drink. Further inside there was another couple with their dog. Later on another big dog was brought in and put behind the bar! Can't help but think this is not right but you can make your own mind up on this one.

Staff haven't got a clue. Took ages to take order and still got it wrong. I had chicken and my brother had steak pie which he gave up on as pastry was like trying to eat a brick, chips pale as pale can be. Tea and coffee just about OK. Don't waste your money or time.

Looked inviting from the outside so decided to give this establishment a try. Spotless interior , big menu with many tempting options. Our coffee was spot on , just how we like it "proper coffee." Wifey had bacon, brie and cranberry panini which she said was delicious. Myself chicken , bacon and pesto sandwich with granary bread. Thick slices of gorgeous bread with a well packed filling , it was very satisfying. Very good service and highly recommend.

Visited The Queens Head last night with my fiancée to try their new carvery all you can eat roast dinner. The food was outstanding, when they say all you can eat they really mean it, and it includes meat unlike any other I’ve been too. The meat was cooked to perfection, the gammon was the best I’ve had and there was 4 meats to choose from. The chef was previously a butcher and knows how to cook and carve, it was so yummy. There was a good selection of potato’s, yorkies and veg, also all really yummy. The potatoes were crispy outside and fluffy inside and the gravy was a good thickness and also very tasty as it’s made from the meat juices. I was hesitant trying an all you can eat carvery, however this blew other roasts I have tried in Essex out the water. It was as good as an expensive roast that you would find in a bistro pub. My fiancée and I are making our way round local pubs trying their roast dinners and this flew straight to the top of our list! Also - the homemade icecream is outstanding and i’d urge that people try it. It’s really creamy and they have lots of options. Thank you for a lovely dinner!
