Went for morning coffee with a friend. Nothing too fancy, but pleasant, clean and everything you need. Drinks and cakes were very good prices. A range of gluten free cakes available - the classic brownie, carrot cake, flapjack and some kind of peanut thing. Friendly staff. Saw them bring meals (breakfast and sandwiches) out to other customers, which also looked good value.

Popped in for lunch on a busy Saturday after hearing good reviews and must say we were impressed. Rose Cottage is a lovely, welcoming traditional cafe, not trying to be anything its not which is so refreshing. At first glance the menu is a standard range of sandwiches, panini and jacket potatoes, but between us we tried all three and the standard really is excellent. Mum declared her panini the best she’s ever had, and my husband tucked into his hearty JP with chilli and cheese. Great quality ingredients and obviously prepared with much care. At around £8 per head including coffees we felt we’d had great value for money too. We’ll be back soon for a cream tea, several people were enjoying fresh scones and we just couldn’t quite find room. Thanks ever so much

A favourite is the cheese and onion toasted sandwich, but recently an open vegetable toasted sandwich has been added to the menu and maybe my new favourite. During the lockdowns ordered afternoon tea to be delivered. The ordinary one is great, but so is the cheese one. Had both together to give us a savoury and sweet treat. Wide range of teas offered, plus coffees and milkshakes. The staff will adapt the menu to any requests if they can.

We decided to try here for breakfast as we have tried a few other places around the area but not here. Due to Covid restrictions you order at the counter and the order is served to you. The food was fine. We had a breakfast wrap and a bacon and sausage roll. The service was fine and the food was good. We would probably try here again for another meal.

Lovely alternative to a cream tea. Rose Cottage tea rooms have superb friendly service with a cheese selection. Fresh cheese scones, crackers, bread, a soft cheese herb roulade.... best we have ever tasted, cheddar & Stilton too. Wise selection of herb, fruit, black & green teas to suit any taste.Wonderful way to enjoy time with a chum & celebrate with this treat.Andy & Jo’ Lees are super hosts & the tea room is a cosy gem in the Ashby crown ❣️ ☕️

Most tearooms in Ashby were packed out during Ashby Food Gusto, but we were lucky enough to find a corner spot. We ordered bacon, brie and cranberry paninis and coffee for two. The paninis were probably the best we've had in years. Well done to this tiny corner of food pleasures.

However we fed my friends baby shower here recently and it was absolutely brilliant, there were a few fussy eaters but as we pre ordered they catered to our every requirement. What a find! We went in for a sandwich and ended up ordering the afternoon tea as it looked so good. Everything was authentic, from the homemade scones with cream to the sandwiches and cake - all served on pretty bone china with a matching teapot! They even had a box for us to take away the cakes we couldn't eat. Now we're looking for an excuse to be in the area again so we can come back!

The skewers were delicious. Chocolate scones delightful. My daughter loved the Nutella sandwiches. We had a box of cakes to take home as we'd completely filled up. Can't say enough good things about the luxury hot chocolate too... Nothing is too much trouble for the owners who managed to squeeze my dad in last min for a wrap and a coffee with us. Stopped for a coffee and a baked potato. Coffee was really nice, not a cheap instant so we enjoyed these. The food was very average though hence the rating. I love a good spud with cheese but we also had tuna mayonnaise as well. Alas the mayonnaise was a bit grim so it spoilt the meal for me. I would guess it's a catering brand and not a well known make. I do want to stress the price was cheap, around £12 for the coffees and food so my 3 stars is not meant to cause offence, but I have had better for similar cash. The wifi works well but the interior is quite tired. I'd personal try other places before I came back but it was OK for a quick bite. Service was pleasant so no quibbles there.

Having visited several cafes in Ashby de la Zouch over a long period of time, we were pleased to have the opportunity to visit this one, having walked past this one so many times. It is not easy to judge inside here from the paved walk way, which leads from a large car park to the the main street. Once inside however, a cottage in-house style becomes apparent. Sensitive refurbishment has retained key features of an older property, with several seating areas being available to the cafe. Table or counter service is not clear without enquiring, but you are welcomed well and a very extensive menu is offered. Many sandwiches, paninis and ciabattas are available with extensive tea and coffee variations presenting themselves too. Decaffeinated options are there also. Ordering is a bit of a chore due to the proprietor and customer having difficulty hearing each other it's all very well hearing the west coast summer of love through to The Small Faces, but audibility could be improved by the sound system being slightly further away from the counter: It is a single sound source in the cafe. Food appears quite quickly but table clearing is not fast. The table top and tray sizes mean that your order arrives, then used crockery makes its return on the same tray. No problem - until you find that the table top is not being wiped, so drips and debris from a previous customer remain. THe cafe may be very busy and this may explain the copious quantity of crumbs on the floor, at 11.40am. However, the food is the freshest we have come across for a very long time. Well filled, with a good side salad, only one of our two orders arrived with the menu-stated tortilla chips. Not a problem for us, but another customer may need to mention this to the proprietor on their visit. Decor is well thought out, pretty bunting, with local artists' work on sale around the walls. A useful book swap is offered with some reading becoming available on the stairway. Upstairs seating is available, rather near the toilets, with children's activities being available on this upper level too. Why they are here and not downstairs is rather a mystery, as those people who would need them may not actually find them. High chairs not over-evident. The toilets are basic but do the job. Basic changing facilities are available to mum or dad, with some bits and pieces being kindly provided there for emergencies. The approach from street level is difficult for those with push chairs, so other mobility issues may not be addressed here unless another doorway to the cafe is available. It is not a cafe I would rush back to but for the home made soup menu - it is so inviting and would take a few visits to make your way through it. A good but very mixed visit over all.

I've been meaning to check out Rose Cottage since its latest rebranding and my return to Ashby. Not sure what to expect, I was delighted by just how much space there was inside and my partner and I easily found a spot to plonk ourselves down in the big sofas near the window. The staff were friendly and attentive and came over to check we knew the ordering procedure - really we were just enjoying a chance to chat before ordering. The menu was slightly limited to the usual tea room fayre of sandwiches, soups and salads. We were opting for a late breakfast and with my usual 'go to brekkie' (eggs Benedict) not on the menu I went for the mushroom omelette instead. The food was fresh and hit the spot with a generous portion for each of us. The coffee was some of the best I've had in a while - nice and rich and strong, the only downside was they didn't have any honey (but I was assured they'd already been looking in to it!). The cakes all looked interesting and I'll definitely be back to sample some, there just wasn't enough room or time on this occasion!

Loved everything (choice, friendliness of the staff, the food etc...). A really nice quaint and warmly welcoming tea rooms. The only reason I've given it a 4 is that because the toilet cubicles aren't fully enclosed at ceiling height, if you are sat eating/drinking upstairs, you have to endure people's straining and splashing whilst trying to enjoy your food. Sit downstairs!

Came across this Tea Room in Ashby and was pleasantly surprised by the good value and tasty, well served food. We had tried some other tea rooms in Ashby in the past but would easily put this one first. Fresh cakes and scones, good coffee and tea,all well presented and very reasonably priced - more than can be said for all the other establishments. Definitely one to revisit!

Visited yesterday with a friend for the first time. Very nice, clean café with very friendly owner who was a bit frazzled after a major leak in her café yesterday but she was determined to stay open for customers despite the difficulties this presented. We ordered the scone with jam and cream and pot of tea. The scones were lovely and the tea was sufficient for 3 cups. Very reasonably priced too. Would like to return to sample the menu further.

Visited fro lunch. A good choice on the menu and prepared to adapt to your needs. Sandwiches and paninis are good. A range of teas and coffees. There look to be some yummy cakes on offer as well.

I have been on my own, with my partner, with friends, eating in and taking away. Every time the food and drinks are great, the atmosphere is lovely and relaxed and the staff are friendly. One of my favourite places in Ashby to waste an hour or so.

If you want a great cup of coffee, with good food made on site, then this is the perfect place to visit. The staff are really friendly and helpful. If you don't see something on the menu just ask, if they can make it for you they will. The new owner makes all the cakes. I have yet to have one but plan to very soon. You can even order a traditional English tea, served on China, with sandwiches, scones and homemade cakes. Yum yum. I will be a regular here I think.

Visited the "new and improved" tea room and was pleasantly surprised to find it was even better than it was under it's previous guise. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The sandwiches are well filled and the bread nice and fresh, even the tortillas are enjoyable (I am not normally a fan). The cream tea, although the scones are not on the large side they are very fruity, is very good.Well worth the visit!
