Our first visit to the RAT. On a sunny Saturday, entering under an arch of roses set the tone. The garden is delightful, though we chose to eat in the cooler interior. Helpful service, excellent cooking and unfussy presentation of good food. Steak and kidney pudding and lemon posset were especially tasty items among our choices. By our standards a bit pricey for everyday eating but good value for a special treat. Overall, a very enjoyable lunchtime experience.

Not been here for many, many years since it was a “community pub” when frankly I didn’t enjoy the experience. I did not know it was now privately owned so was intrigued when invited by friends.

The Bat and Ball

05/01/2020: Family outings and our food was great. It was early Saturday night and sounded and felt like a creche with noisy uncontrolled kids everywhere. Might come later next time.
05/09/2019: Really interesting menu influenced by the South African chef. Standout was the Goats Cheese, Spinach & Cranberry Wellington but seafood platter was also lovely. Very generous helpings and friendly service.

Rosie Lea Tea House & Bakery

22/12/2019: We were just going in for a coffee then looked around though well maybe a cake but ended up having full cooked breakfast it was lovely big portion everything cooked beautifully , we had no room for cake we had a great big pot of tea and enjoyed it immensely. The owner who was acting as host was so friendly to his regulars and first timers like us, might have been our first visit won't be our last.
13/11/2019: Situated on the Main Street, visited on a Monday morning, quite small inside, friendly staff, extensive tea menu, v tasty looking cakes but they were all a little dry. Preferred the sister cafe.
