Rose and Crown in Stratford-on-Avon

Came with my partner for a nice night away.. but Manchester City was playing and he needed to find somewhere to watch it, of course 😂 .. me being an Arsenal supporter would rather have just stayed in the hotel, relaxing 😂 Found this pub and we knew it would be the place straight away. The man we spoke to was very friendly and my partner got chatting to him straight away. The man placed us right infront of the TV and we had a great view for the football match - we also had great company from an older couple who was seated next to us! We ordered food - a burger and a fish sandwich. Both were very much enjoyed. We found that there wasn't much choice to choose from and the prices were a bit much but we did enjoy it - can't complain about price when we're on 'holiday'. Would definitely recommend! Didn't catch the man's name but thank you for making us feel welcome!

Great staff and food. Went for a roast and football on Sunday. Did great despite it being so busy. A credit to the community.

Perfect spot for sport, great staff and food alot cheaper than nearby. Huge inside, with big beer garden and lots of TVs. Very noisy when busy.

We have loved to visit here at Christmas on our way up north for several years and have always found it friendly and vibrant We called at lunchtime and it was busy and service at the bar was good. However tonight was completely opposite. It was quiet. The barman was stood at the far end of the bar out of sight. He shouted from behind a pillar down to me with his arms folded "can't you see the sign" I looked fir the sign it was not very visible it said "please use the other end of the bar" It was not busy he could have shown good customer service and taken a few steps to take my order but instead I had to walk down to the end of the bar to order. We will not return.

My friend and I had part of the Christmas menu it had to be the best food we've had in the Rose and crown thank you we will be back

Fish and chips with curry sauce was awesome, as was the sticky toffee pudding with custard. Selling Fireball was an added bonus. The staff were friendly and the food was ready in about 10 minutes. The pub was clean and tidy. I will definitely be eating there again.

We found the service very slow and some of the staff clearly struggled to use the fairly basic till ( over charged twice).

Went to the bar in the rose and crown I'm local and normally in the dirty duck I'm writing this as I thought Anand was very polite and his hospitality was great that's why I asked his name , all staff should adhere to his tendency and nature of custom .

The service was spot on nothing to much trouble. Anand and staff did a great job Food was ample and enjoyed by all. Would recommend a visit

Good deals on food, ale(cask) fairly well kept for a Greene king. Bit smoky and uncomfortable seating outside but large outdoor area with screens. They did stop the (very good) music for football on Friday night though and it was a bit kiddy tastic!

Great spot for sunny beer garden drinks and small plates. Often live music out in garden. Some interesting fruity ales and a great Aperol Spritz.

Should have gone to Wetherspoons. Cold food dumped down on our table the lady who brought it didn’t even ask how it was. Was not worth the money.

Visited the Rose & Crown while staying in Straford Upon Avon. This is a lively sports bar serving a decent range of ales. An oldy worldly pub with screens to watch sports. A good atamosphere and a good place to enjoy.

Came to Stratford for the day and had dinner in here. It was amazing. Food was very tasty and cooked to perfection! We will certainly be back again soon!

My self and family Visited here for dinner , never been before , must say the steak was beautifully cooked just as I like it ,and the side salad very nicely presented , will definitely be going again , and would certainly recommend the food to anyone , well done to the staff thank you .

What a beautiful old building! The food and service were second to none, and we can definitely recommend the steaks! The pub had a great atmosphere and is in a handy central location.

Spent a few hours in here drinking before checking into our hotel and all was good. Went back for a drink to decide where to eat and decided to stay for sharers, main meals and sandwiches but except the chicken sharers all was average at best tbh. It is a Greene King but they are normally ok but the food here was not the best. More of an old fashioned pub than a restaurant.

I’ve been to many Greene Kings over the years and this one too but never had food. This was the first time The building itself must be a listed building of some kind. It’s actually quite dark inside but it’s very feature like and unique. They have a big beer garden at the back as well We went in on a Sunday, table booked. We were shown to our table which was a big one by a fire place. Actually lots of space which was useful as I had my son’s pushchair with me. The menu is limited compared to others but still a good selection. Prices I’d say they are competitive to other similar places. Ordering was no problem, food was delivered in a reasonable time. We all had the roast dinners. I had the chicken, the meat was nice it was cooked well not dry or overdone. The Yorkie was really tasty. The veg was incredibly soft, almost mushy and the roast spuds were disappointing too. The stuffing ball was very nice. Gravy had lots of flavour. As roast dinners go it was actually ok but could be improved with little tweaks. The beef I’m told was ok. My daughter had the nuggets children’s meal, they looked nice and she ate most of the chips, good portion size. Puddings, we ordered a selection of puddings, no vanilla ice cream but was substituted. The puddings were very nice I enjoyed my brownie. Overall I’d say it’s ok in there. I’d prefer other Greene Kings nearby but if they were not available I’d still come here.

The staff are friendly and helpful, Owen recommended the food that my wife had never tried before and she loved it, Owen even recommended the perfect Ales that was amazing as I only try larger. They even catered for our dog with water bowls and water. This is definitely a great place to visit, the staff are amazing and polite. Keep up the great work.

We came over the Easter weekend so it was very busy. There was a long wait for food, which frankly was no better than ok, but the lad serving us was attentive and friendly and made the wait almost worthwhile. Thank you staff at Rose and Crown.

Turned up just after 11 but shut so had to wait until til 1130 but it is advertised as 11. Anyway nice spacious place with lots of tables. Chairs were a little uncomfortable. Ordered on the app. We had some starters and fries which was fine. The chicken was good. Service was good and we would return if in the area.

Staff were polite and helpful, however the food was well below acceptable. We ordered 2 Sunday roast dinners, a burger meal and a child's nugget meal. The kids meals were ok...but both the roast dinners were cold when placed infront of us, so we sent them back and 2 fresh meals arrived hot. Unfortunately the roasters were anemic and all the veg, was that over cooked, it was mush with no flavour. We accepted a refund for the roast dinners and went to McDonald's. Using the toilets, the doors were that close to the toilet that you either climb over the toilet seat to close the door (not able to do with a toddler in tow) or wee with the door open so you can keep an eye on toddler. Not ideal.

Four of us stopped by for lunch this week and really enjoyed it. Really large portions and very tasty. On such a cold day the pub was nice and warm although for some reason, almost empty! Also, a couple of screens showing sports and we particularly liked some screens showing constant trivia questions and answers.

I've never been in a Pub, in fact I've never been anywhere, where I've been spoken to with such contempt and vile manner. For our small group to be told " you have 4 minutes left before we close, and whether you've finished your drinks or not you're leaving" We are all local people 40 plus age group. We were not the only ones that this nasty individual was rude to. I hope that the Rose and Crown condems this type of unnecessary behaviour from their staff

We were a large group of 12 and we got a table OK. Food was very average and ran out of drought ales eg IPA. Not enough bar staff for a busy pub. Good for watching footy etc but not much else!

The drinks are ok, the service is mediocre at best. They walk past you and ignore you at the bar twice. Dont acknowledge you. There is a reason the pub across the road is rammed and this one is not

This is a great spot in the heart of Stratford, serving a wide range of food all day, great selection of drinks and sports tv’s around the pub. Also fantastic live music often outside in the courtyard. Great when the weather is nice

Don't use the App for drinks in this pub, the staff ignore them to serve people at the bar. No apology after 35 minute wait. Terrible experience and a birthday treat ruined. Pub was not busy just bad serving staff.

A typical busy pub.  I was desperate for somewhere to watch the football and this was one of the only ones in town with it on.  For football fans it is perfect.  Screens everywhere and 3 different games being shown in different areas of the pub at the same time.Unfortunately I couldn’t find a suitable seat to start with where I can sit comfortably and watch the game I wanted.  With the pub being large it didn’t take long for me to find a decent seat with help from the waitress.  Although many tables were being cleaned, I was unfortunate to sit on one that wasn’t clean.  The plates and glasses were removed as I sat down but the table was not wiped.  I am aware I could have asked for it to be wiped but I shouldn’t have to and during the current covid position we are in, this should have been done before I even made way to the table.I will say, they were very busy and with table service in operation, the staff were run of their feet. The service was pretty good, the food was basic but as expected so no complaints there.A friendly atmosphere, very central to the town.  Highly recommended for anyone wanting to watch football.

Well couldn’t get a drink along with one or 2 pubs near by as you needed a mobile phone to do track and trace and order your drinks. What a load of crap! We live in a busy sea side resort you give you phone number and your in ! Staff then serve you. Omg can’t believe how crap this was on a lovely hot day. Never mind we did however find a pub with a garden and spent a fortune !!!!

Last time we visited the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Not so today. We booked as required. However as I have a discount card we aren’t able to order food on the app. We were told to grab a member of staff when we wanted to order. However no one came near us. The restaurant was not busy and the staff were clearing tables. The person at the door who told us that a member of staff would take our order saw us sitting waiting but did nothing. After about 30 mins we walked out. She saw us go and didn’t even apologise or offer to get someone to take our order. What a shambles! Greene King - your app sorted out so we can order on it. Rose & Crown - learn some customer service.

LOVE the terrace area now that it’s been given some TLC. Staff are always so friendly. Nothing is too much hassle (really appreciate this as I have food intolerances & the blonde lady at the entrance was really accommodating). Only thing I would say is the bathrooms need a little renovating as they seem a little dated, but otherwise, a brilliant place for some drinks in the English sun!

Having visited more than once and being a favourite of ours in Stratford-upon-Avon, we visited again for what we expected to be a nice visit as has always been the case in the past, what we found however was people, 2 guys, sat inside drinking, we were under the impression that no one was to be inside drinking until May 17th, however I will apologise if I have got this wrong.
