Wonderful gem of a pub. After a walk pop I to the pub for selection of ales, larger plus a Sunday roast. Wonderful cats that live upstairs. Highly recommend.

Came here for Sunday lunch and had such a delicious roast, everything cooked so well, really tasty and a good sized portion. The crumble was amazing too! I love the cosy atmosphere of this pub, will be back very soon.

Absolutely delightful all round. Greeted with warmth and excellent service. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, with the perfect pub vibe — not too loud, but still lively enough. The roast beef was perfectly cooked, tender and juicy. The Yorkshire puddings were golden brown—just how they should be. The gravy had the right balance of richness and flavor, and the seasonal vegetables were fresh and well-seasoned. What stood out was the attention to detail — everything was well-balanced, and nothing felt rushed. The staff were attentive without being overbearing, and the food arrived hot and exactly as ordered. Fantastic spot for a classic Sunday roast. I’ll definitely be returning soon & recommending !

Beautiful old pub. Excellent food. Took part in the monthly quiz night. Owners/managers are very friendly and welcoming. Plenty of parking spaces available. Clean and tidy facilities.

Excellent place, good food, great service

This has quickly become our favourite pub which we are very happy to travel half an hour in the car to. The food is really good, from the roasts to the sharing starters everything is super tasty and plentiful. The service is exceptional, with friendly, smily staff. The pub itself is super cosy, and full of atmosphere. Thank you Steph and team for making us feel welcome every time.

Have just had the roast and I have to say, this the best roast meal I've had! Had the chocolate ganache for dessert and highly recommend it. Will be back for more 🙂

We held a Christmas Party here yesterday and it was fab. We were a large mixed group with lots of small children. We were so well looked after, and really appreciated how welcoming the staff were with the kids. Food was totally delish too. Thank you Rose and Crown!!!

Went with hubby for Sunday lunch, it’s a lovely little pub with lots of history but that’s where it ended for us. The waitress who served (if you can call it that) I think had had a personality bypass, no uniform like the other waitresses just a tatty long cardigan, appeared at the table said “you ready” . When she returned with the food it was almost thrown on the table as she was walking past. I ordered a coffee to finish she plonked a mug on the table I asked if I could have some sugar which she brought but then I had to ask her for a spoon. Disappointing.

Edit. Back again in Nov. Yearly tradition of getting a Christmas Tree and a pub lunch. This Saturday the team were welcoming and food still great! Its an old small pub so menu is not massive but all done well. Edit. Went back again in July. Still one of my favourite roasts in London. Also took advantage of the lovely walks in the area. The addition of the burger on the menu was well-received by one of our party. Look foward to coming back! Went with kids for last min Sunday lunch. Great service, food and drinks. Definitely the best place for a roast in Enfield and up there with much more expensive places in central London. Will be back!

Lovely Sunday Lunch here on 24/11/24 , six adults and one child, food excellent and well looked after by the staff. So glad we live local to this establishment, Good parking, lovely setting .

Visited yesterday for the Sunday roast. By far the best in Enfield. All of our group were impressed. The staff were very friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. The portions were generous and the quality was to a high standard

This is without a doubt the best pub in Enfield, the food is fantastic, the Guinness is perfect and the staff are second to none. Well worth a visit. Your dogs will love it to from the free treats at the bar.

Great lunch stop on the way back to the airport. We were looking for a country pub for lunch and this one didn’t disappoint as a wonderful historical place to stop. Food was great. Plentiful, delicious and filling. Service was a little slow but friendly, it’s a big place and I think they need more servers! Wife loved the halloumi and corn ‘ribs’… my fish and chips were just right, great fish and normal British chips.

Superb Sunday Lunch, reasonably priced and well presented. Friendly staff and dog friendly. Great walks locally too.

A beautiful old pub which has been revived by the new owners and staff. The best pint of Landlord south of the M62. If you gave up on it six years ago, give it a try now.

Sadly have to lower my review. Not as nice when last in. Its the 3rd time we have eaten here. Roast was sloppy and service was below par. Wouldn't go back to eat. But for drinks it's nice after a dog walk.

Came in tonight for a drink and left transformed. Nothing short of first class service from Ariana. Wow.

Just outside the fabulously re-wilded, White Webbs Golf Course. Full of people who had just walked (many with lovely dogs) in one of the most magical areas of Forty Hall Estate. Long may it remain!

We went here for a family and friends gathering after a funeral. The staff were really friendly and helpful, service and food was really good. A lovely tradition pub.

Cracking Sunday lunch. We both had the roast beef and it was top quality, well cooked and tasty with a generous portion of meat, and the same for the vegetables. Warm welcome at the bar and from the server made for a very pleasant lunchtime experience. Good range of beers and dog friendly. Well worth a visit.

We had a fabulous Sunday roast at the Rose & Crown today for my 40th birthday. It was one of the very best roast dinners I've ever had in a pub and it was a sentiment shared by the rest of the family too. From the service, to the atmosphere, and most importantly the food - I couldn't fault it. Updated 02/06/2024 and reducing from 5 to 4 stars - Came for the second time for Sunday lunch and unfortunately it didn't quite live up to expectations from the first time. The roast potatoes were not as crispy (as if they had been reheated), the gravy was thin and less flavourful and the beef cheek was bland and under seasoned. Service and atmosphere etc. still great and still a lot better than most Sunday roasts, but definitely not as good as the first time.

Great place to visit, especially after a walk in Hilly Fields. Very good food, especially the desserts. Friendly atmosphere.

Lovely, beautiful location with nature

Just accidentally found this pub today while walking. Loved the atmosphere! It made me feel I was in old England. It reminded me of Shakespeare birth house in Stratford-upon-avon with a difference that I could sit and have a nice drink :) Will definitely come back for food. Lovely place!

I have been looking forward to going into this pub for ages, passed it loads of times, and after reading the reviews, we went for lunch today. Menu is very basic, which didn't put me off, as food done well is all I'm looking for. Food was well below what I would expect in a place that charges these prices for a basic burger and chips.... Frozen chips and scampi (called a burger).... The cheese burger was okay, but that's all it was. No presentation, no garnish..... Went to a similar country pub a few weeks ago and this is most definitely a very very poor comparison. Sorry but we would not recommend for food, waitress lovely as was the actual pub.

Sign on door says regulars only. Not much of a welcome. So didn’t bother!

Had a brilliant time would come again

Having had a nice lunch several months ago we were excited to eat a lovely evening meal. Unfortunately this was not the case. Of the 7 main courses presented on just one menu shared between us, because they didn't have enough, 2 of the main courses were OFF, our table was for 7pm!!, which was very unfortunate as they were the two dishes we were going to order. Both side dishes of Chips and Sweet Potato, no vegetables, were both also OFF, crossed out on the menu. We therefore ordered Pan fried Haddock with a herb crumb, potato terrine and pea puree. The portion was small, the terrine was okay but only warm, not hot, the Haddock was fine but had an overly salty crumb which had not been grilled to crisp and therefore was soft and not what was expected. The pea puree was not pea puree but just boiled peas and hard at that, not like the lovely looking pea puree on the website.The young staff who waited on us, although not unpleasant in any way, were not trained, tried to serve our food to the wrong table and did not understand the menu. Dogs were allowed in the eating area which we did not appreciate.Really cannot believe the owners worked under Heston Blumenthal. If they did as stated on their website, then they have surely lost their love of cooking food, which is a shame. The menu and cooking of the food are just poor. Unfortunately, with great regret, as we live locally and are always looking for good local food and cooking, we cannot recommend as a place to eat. Sorry.

Can’t thank this pub enough for looking after us on Sunday for lunch when we were let down. They were so accommodating for our family group with 2 little ones and a dog, just a delicious roast lunch and the kindest service. Always a lovely and welcoming place to go, very reasonable. Thank you so much.

Visited today for Mother’s Day - the roast dinner was phenomenal. This place is a must visit, we’ll definitely be back.

I have never seen so many staff behind a bar not serving . Every time we come here there’s a massive queue, a load of people behind the bar but not one if them attempts to serve. It’s just rude.

The food was amazing however, the waitress had an attitude and tried to rush us through our meal. At one point, she actually wanted to take my plate, while I was eating. Lovely food wouldn’t go back!!!

Such a lovely pub! The staff are great, the food is really good and there's such a nice/cosy atmosphere in the pub. It's a very old pub sloping floors but so much character.

Limited choice of craft/IPA beers. A bit expensive and closing times are a bit dependent on how busy it is but a nice historic, cozy pub.

Lovely roast dinner in a relaxed and historic pub. Friendly young staff and the owners on hand making sure everyone was getting well looked after. Dog friendly. A great place, probably wise to book for a Sunday lunch.

Went for lunch with friends. Very poor selection of food, nothing like advertised lunches. They can fry frozen skinny chips well however. Little effort to make customer feel welcome.

This is a lovely place to come for a meal. The building was an old inn and owned by the grandfather of Dick Turpin. The food is superb with fresh ingredients which are expertly cooked

We came as a group of friends. Unfortunately, majority of the place was reserved and there wasn’t much space left. However, staff worked around it by rearranging tables and creating a space for us. Food was great after a long walk. Dog friendly. Thanks!

Absolutely amazing! Came as a group of 8 with no booking and the manager was very helpful at helping us find a table despite being quite full. We ended up with a cozy table and delicious food. Would love to come back again. Thanks a lot for the hospitality!

Just had my birthday lunch at the R&C. The food was cooked to perfection, friendly and professional staff, with a warm welcome. Dogs welcome. Good selection of draft beers. Highly recommended 5star

By far the best place I had dinner while visiting London. Staff was very friendly. Very comfortable setting. Will definitely visit again next time on holiday

Nice pub, decent guisness. BUT they over charge for crisps. Over £7 for 3 bags. The pub also closed at 8pm on a Sunday, even though the beer garden was packed?

It seems the good reviews on here are for Sunday lunch and as we came after 2pm on a Saturday I cannot comment about that. However on Saturday there is a few small plate offers, none of which we fancied and just four main choices. As the fish and chips was not available only three to choose from. Cheeseburger, pork cheek & cauli & mac cheese. A couple went for burgers which looked rather unappealing, soggy bun, small portion of fries. I went for pork cheek which was flavoursome, but unfortunately was luke warm which was a shame. Also very small amount of food so although it was rich I wanted more. Pudding of apple crumble was very crunchy topping so if you like it like that you’d enjoy. The staff were lovely especially the young man who served us, so the three stars go to him. I am impressed by the mark up they must have made on the pork cheek, it is just a shame it was not hot and came with either a larger potato rosti or roasted potatoes. Nice looking pub though but unfortunately wouldn’t return as I prefer more choice & hot food. Oh and I didn’t see any children’s options so don’t think it would be practical for a family.

Limited choice on menu, my first choice starter had run out so I needed to pick an alternative which I wasn't very keen on. Had a burger for main which was nice but not very large portion. We went on quiz night which was fun. Nice old pub which us laid out on split levels and quite quirky. Car park available for patrons and some scattered outdoor seating to enjoy the balmy summer evenings.

I am always wary of giving a review out of line withe majority and it seems as if the Sunday lunch here is a good offer. But I I arrived here yesterday lunch time with some fellow Barnet u3a walkers on the London Loop walk. None of wanted a main meal but the small plates were very limited. No sandwiches were available so two friends and I had a tomato salad, served with fluffy goats cheese and balsamic. Very tasty but at £10 it HAS to be accompanied by a slice of bread. I was told it had to be ordered separately. One of our number, who had ordered the calamari, ordered a portion of bread with dip and let me have a slice of her sour dough bread. We both agreed it did not taste fresh, as if it had been sliced and left open to the air. The portion of bread as I recall ( two slices of sourdough with balsamic dip) was about £5. To top it off, I asked for a coffee to be served with the food, not straightaway. It duly came with the food, but was lukewarm, as if it had been poured and then left standing until the food was ready. This defeats the object. Sorry Rose & Crown, I will not be visiting again.

Looks a really lovely old timer gastric pubu in beautiful surroundings. Sadly when we arrived they were unable to serve food due t apparently unforseen circumstances. I do hope to have the experience one day as there are mixed reviews on this and we always love to disprove the negative ones if possible and have a good mutual laugh over it. One day !

Was a photographer at the weekend at this venue, the staff where very good and doing everything they can to keep everything going smoothly (it did) The food was top tier though out and the hospitality was amazing.

Visited for a business meeting and had some lunch, the service was quick and polite and the food was amazing, the best calamari we have had in a long time. The homemade mayonnaise needs to be sold so we can take it home too. Lovely pub atmosphere and beautifully decorated

First visit to this pub, lovely old building with exposed timber beams. Had Sunday lunch for 3, a small menu but food was cooked really well and the beef and lamb were of good quality. So pleased to see the Yorkshire pudding did not take up all of the plate! 👍 £17 for a Sunday roast may seem a bit high but the quality and portion sizes were worth it. Will return :)

Sunday lunch today was superb! Tender beef and my partner had lamb, both cooked to perfection! We both appreciate good food and enjoy eating out, we both said this was a 10 out of 10 for everything. The staff were lovely too. Couldn't fault a thing. This is definitely our new 'go to local' for a Sunday lunch after a good dog walk.

It was pouring with rain so we were delighted to find this pub we both had a very nice cappuccino with a packet of crops.

Excellent service, really quaint familiar homely pub. The very rustic feel and very pleasant space for our booking. Food orders were taken and the staff we're easy and happy to accommodate. Special praise for Sophia who serviced amazing service and was at hand and made sure our table and messages to and from the chief were met. Hope to return one day!

A very lovely pub with a great interior, great food and excellent service. Stefanie, the owner, is incredibly understanding and accommodating - finding even space on a crowded Sunday for London Loop walkers yearning for a good lunch and a drink. Highly recommended!

We had the best roast dinner that I’ve ever eaten out. I had chicken and the other 3 had beef. It was all amazing with freshly cooked potatoes and vegetables. The staff are so friendly and service was great. Would definitely recommend this pub.

Excellent pub! The menu is relatively short but everything is top quality. Great service. Lot's of dogs which is always a plus in my books.
