Rope & Anchor in Trafford

Once again, fantastic value lunch at £17 75 for three courses. The soup and prawn starters were delicious. Homemade steak pie, absolutely yummy. Large portions too. Desserts lovely. Staff friendly , pleasant and efficient. We always love coming here and can thoroughly recommend.

Went for a meal and were passed a 'Valentine's Day' menu. No problem, nice idea to put that option on. Three choices for starters, four main dishes. Quick glance down, nothing appealed, asked for the usual menu and was astonished to be told that it wasn't available. Picked a main course, pea and shallot ravioli which was rubbery and tasteless. What is the purpose of a restaurant only offering a quarter of its usual menu ? It just beggars belief.

Went here today for Sunday lunch, was delicious! Thank you to our server Jack who was very friendly as are all the staff who work here!

Superb food with a wide selection of drinks. Our server, Jack was polite and looked after us. We definitely recommend you pay a visit to the rope and anchor. We will return.

Had a lovely family buffet yesterday for my partner's birthday. The room upstairs is perfect for a celebration. Such a warm welcome and attentive service from all the staff. The food was really good, plentiful and well presented. Thank you to Paul and the team.

Delicious lunch today - Chef Tom prepared an excellent scallop, black pudding and pea starter, followed by perfectly roasted salmon with plenty of tasty green veg.

Absolute disgrace, paid £90 for Xmas dinner , it was terrible, cold vegetables, waiting 40 mins between courses , the staff were overwhelmed.. food was awful an absolute rip offf and my guests were very very disappointed..

Second visit here and just was impressed as we were the first time. Came on a Sunday and ordered off the main menu - Christmas turkey dinner was delicious and the pudding also top notch. My partner was delighted with his steak pie too. Excellent service throughout with a smile and also efficient. Couldn’t fault this place. Will be back!

Wow! If you want great food, cooked to perfection, presented beautifully and service out of this world, you need to try the Rope and Anchor in Dunham. All the staff were really lovely, Jack served us, he was great, he knew the menu and gave great recommendations too. Chefs don't tend to get a mention but I can't let David the chef go uncalled, his food was truly incredible and I would wholeheartedly recommend the Rope and Anchor for anything from a quick bite to a special occasion dinner.

Annoyed that when you pay by card, you need to determine a tip level on the machine before you can pay! Not helpful. Just popped in for a drink, so is a tip warranted?

We dropped in by chance after visiting Dunham Massey and the food was outstanding. Perfectly cooked salmon and delicious prawns. I would definitely return often if I lived closer.

Great proper country pub, very welcoming land lord and lady Paul and Nicole. We had a great meal here after visiting Dunham Massey: Stilton mushrooms and Duck spring rolls to start, very tasty. Large fish n chips and Steak and Ale pie mains, some of the best we’ve ever had! (I am a pie connoisseur). Generous portion sizes too. Compliments to chef Mike! Highly recommended.

We arrived well into Sunday lunch time hoping but not really expecting any tables to be left without a reservation. However the friendly and accommodating front of house team found us a table for two in a lovely cosy corner, next to a roaring log burner. There was a lovely ambience - lots of families enjoying a relaxing afternoon. The menu was reasonably priced and extensive. Our starters arrived (scallops and black pudding & calamari) piping hot and freshly made. They were both stunning. Our main courses - fish and chips & the most magnificent cheese and onion pie, were every bit as good as our starters. The whole experience was wonderful and we couldn't have asked for any more. I must mention Head Chef Tom Owen and his team who made the magic happen from his well organised kitchen. Thank you so much to all the staff who made our experience such a great one! Staff here are friendly, however the food wasn't great, the burger was over cooked this was rectified by the staff and they provide a free dessert.

Had a superb sunday lunch today after having a few meals at the rope and anchor on the two or three course specials we thought we would try the sunday lunch we had the roast beef and the whole meal was delicous, lovely staff, lively pub and lovely food, its our first go to now.

Went for tea tonight taking a young man in his wheelchair, and his mum prior to the Dunn and Massey light show. The staff were very attentive could not do enough for all of us. Highly recommend this pub, it made a great start to our evening. Thank you

Booked a table reservation for my boyfriends birthday and rated the service extremely high - staff were really accommodating and friendly and the food was perfect (the presentation was lovely too). Our time was topped off lovely by a surprise birthday oreo cheesecake for dessert which tasted like heaven. Thanks again for such an enjoyable experience!

Had Sunday lunch there today with my two friends. The service and the food was excellent, definitely recommend dog friendly and great for the kids. The young girl that sorted are meals and served the food as well was excellent and very friendly. Will definitely be calling again, many thanks.

Ordered the tortellini, when it arrived in a small dish with only 3 tortellini I was a bit disappointed, tasted ok. The staff were excellent and lively atmosphere.

We were a large group and the service and food was fantastic. It is also a dog friendly pub with water and treats for the dogs.

They say that the hard part is making it look easy. Well The Rope unfailingly does .The welcome and ambience are consistently warm, the food and drink very good and the prices better than reasonable. We took Misty The Russell, who settled in with the other families' dogs after walking the disused railway line behind the pub,and enjoyed a beautiful Sunday Roast served by friendly and efficient staff. It's hard to say any more other than we, as always, left with full tums and smiles on our faces ,as did others.

A lovely countryside pub in a beautiful setting. My only setback was there was no JW Lees Smooth which is a lovely pint of beer.

As part of a birthday party we had everything pre-booked and we decorated the barn. Wonderful day, Nicole and her team looked after us and the food was excellent.

Went in for a wake and the staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The buffet prepared by Tom the chef was fantastic. I recommended the pub to my friend who was organising the funeral and would recommend it again to friends and family looking for a nice day out with good food, or for an event booking. We came here after visiting the ice cream farm pumpkin picking for a pub lunch. Without a booking the front of house was able to move tables around to accommodate us with highchairs. Unfortunately once we had ordered drinks we asked if we could be advised on what food doesn't have dairy in for my wife and friend and we were told everything on the menu contains dairy...(There were vegan options on the menu so doubt this was the case) We finished our drinks and found somewhere else to eat.

They do a lunch deal Mon-Fri of 3 courses for £18. Very good value. Enjoyed the meal enormously. Far superior to most pub grub, and at such a good price. The sea bass was cooked to perfection and my partner’s steak also well done, in both senses! The pub itself is also a really nice place to spend an hour or two and service was good. The only downside was a work group who were making a lot of noise and doing that weird thing when they laugh and joke too loudly to make a point of how much fun they’re having and how well they get on. In a place with wooden floors and furnishings, it made it uncomfortably loud. We will be going again without a doubt. I really like this place and they obviously have excellent chefs.

We visited with our Dog Monty as the website said it was dog friendly. We were made very welcome including Monty which was a bonus for me . Eating in the bar area was lovely and the food was delightful, we will definitely be returning soon.

Very cheerful and attentive staff. Food was absolutely delicious. One member of my party said it was the best fish and chips she has ever had. I was also very pleased with the attentive listening of the hostess when ordering as I had a slightly complicated order, resulting in it coming out of the kitchen correctly. I wish I would have been busier, I would have loved to see more people enjoying their service! Highly recommended.

Went here after visiting the delightful Dunham Massey Deer Park on a Timeout five great country pubs close to Manchester recommendation. All I can say is no idea how it got that! It’s all very clean and pleasant enough but very mediocre food and overall bland.

After being seated and waiting for some time we had to get own drinks from bar as it sermed noone was coming to take our order No menu on table had to get our own Finally placed our food order. Just short of an hour starters arrived. Half hour after starters finished mains arrived. Almost an hour and half for 2 courses to be served. Mains were burnt, just about edible. Would NOT recommend going here. Shocking service!!

Booked a buffet here for after a funeral. Excellent food, plenty of choice, options for vegetarians and gluten-free available. Everyone enjoyed the food and it was good to have the private area just for us.

Came around 6pm with a group of 5 of us, we sat outside and ordered drinks and got a menu, bar staff were lovely and we ordered food too. The food was amazing, calamari and southern fried chicken strips were incredible too! Then we had brownies and they were amazing. Fabulous pints! 10/10 service and chef Dave was outstanding.

Unfortunately - thought the Sunday roast meal was disappointing and nothing very special. The price was excessive for the quality and portion size - and when requesting extra roast potatoes - there was an additional charge beyond the £40 charge for the 2 person meal platter - not the best experience and would find an alternative venue for any other visit - sorry !

Went for the first time yesterday. Food and everything was good. However, was really disappointed when the Sunday menu both online and in person clearly states the steak was available on Sundays but when it came to ordered was told it’s not available on a Sunday. If this is the case then no problem but your menus need updating, this is the only reason for the 4 stars overall. Will come on a Saturday next time.

Went specifically for the lunch time menu which is excellent value and really good food. Wine and service good too.

We are regulars and really love the place - the midweek lunch deal is superb but Sunday lunch has been hit and miss - roast beef’ish which the dog enjoyed - dessert was tiny and tasteless -we are saddened to write this because we love so many things about the place but the bottom line is that we are unlikely to return for Sunday lunch - if only the manager would respond to other than praise

Called today for lunch whilst just having a countryside ride out for the day. Not been before but we will return. From the moment my friend and I walked in we were treated so politely and welcoming to a table. The service was outstanding from all staff but especially Jonah our waiter. Food was served hot and very enjoyable. Plates were hot and also the chip basket, which was appreciated. Thank you for a lovely lunch and we will be back.

The title says it all really. We love coming here and would recommend it to anyone. You should absolutely get one of their roast dinners on a Sunday, but make sure you book for a take after 6. You'll get a free pudding if you do!!

Amazing experience and food was fantastic. Triple fried chips were excellent and lived the dog food for our canine Archie.

Went with my daughter and 2 grandchildren to celebrate my birthday. Food was okay but chicken was dry and my granddaughter's steak was tough. Very few vegetables which was disappointing. Bill was wrong at the end, being overcharged, but was sorted. Service was extremely slow. Will not be visiting again.

Out for lunch with a friend we got to the Rope and Anchor as it opened at lunchtime and seated with a smile by the manager. We ordered our food and drinks and the drinks were brought first followed about ten minutes later by our food. The food was gorgeous , also wanted Extra egg adding to my order as I got a lovely 10oz and Gammon the server said no problem . The food we had was at a very high standard and the service was wonderful. There is no service charge on the bill but you can leave a tip on the card machine if you wish. I will definatly go back because we really enjoyed it . All in all a great place lovely food at a good price. They also served me with a perfect pint of Guinness.

Empty restaurant so expected flawless service and food how can you not do a quick check back on your only table?.Three times a chance was offered up to ask us if everything was ok it’s no good asking when the bill is being paid.Took a while to take drinks order ask for no ice but got it anyway then waited for ages to take food order no offer of replenishing drinks at all had to go to bar and pay three staff stood at end of the bar busy discussing the music heaven knows what the service is like when it’s busy.Food was ok grilling a piece of gammon,throwing frozen chips in the fryer and heating up bought in steak pie isn’t difficult.

The beef noodle salad was phenomenal, the duck spring rolls ASTRONOMICAL, just fantastic all round.

Lovely 'country' pub only 5 minutes from a built up area. Peaceful setting with a big outdoor area for sitting out, children's play area far enough away from those who don't want to be disturbed. We didn't eat on this visit but intend on coming back and trying it. Staff were friendly, parking plentiful and an it was an enjoyable experience overall.

We came after a funeral with 24 people itn attendance. We were outside in the glass barn which was perfect for our needs. The food and service were excellent so were all the staff. I can highly recommend this if you are thinking of holding any type of function like ours.

For those of you who have stopped going to the Rope & Anchor, we went back last night for the first time in a couple of years. It was a pleasant surprise. There is a completely new team (good). The service was great. The food was good pub grub. We live locally and have been bitterly dissappointed here in the past but Paul and his team are turning it round and we will be happy to support them doing it. Give it another try!

First visit to this establishment and a very good experience. The food menu was very interesting with just the right balance of choice. We had the olives & hummus as one of the starters and the quantity with 3 types of bread was generous. The mains choices were all tasty but the steak pie was a slice rather than an individual pie, plenty of meat but personally I would prefer the individual pie. Dessert menu was good and portion size very acceptable. I will definitely return,

First time as was looking for somewhere for lunch after visiting Dunham Massey. Welcomed by staff on arrival. Server was Jonah. Definitely deserves a mention as he couldn’t have been more polite and helpful. All staff very friendly. Food was delicious and very reasonably priced. Clean and bright surroundings.

The Sunday share platter was perfect for us. We had 2 for 4 adults and 2 children .

Came to this spot after a lovely walk with my fiancé on a sunny day a couple weeks ago. The food was absolutely delicious, had a cheese burger with some fries that just hit the spot after a long day of walking!! The actual pub is warm and the atmosphere is nice, however I will say that the service did let our experience down. Our waitress was a small blonde woman who was quite rude and seemed as if she had better things to do. Other then that I would return.

Welcoming friendly environment good value for money, food well presented and the overall ambience is relaxed.

We come here often for Sunday lunch. Today we were a bit disappointed - table was cold (don't sit near the doors if you can help it), food was lovely as ever but service was slow. Had to go queue at the bar to pay the bill. Will still come again but might ask for a table a bit further inside next time!

Third visit with older friends in 80s/ 90s. The access is good for disabled customers. The staff are very attentive and helpful. The menu is excellent and 'something for everyone' from the 2 menus at lunchtime.

Lovely country pub, great atmosphere and gorgeous food!

There was 8 in the party with three dogs. Lots of room and very attentive staff. Had starters and a meal. Sunday roast was good and plentiful. I had the cheese and onion pie which I enjoyed. One of our party had the belly pork which was good except for the crackling which was white. Personally I have never seen white pork crackling. All in all a good meal and a good day out.

Cafe where you can also eat, spacious terrace outside. Have ample parking space. Locally made beer is tapped.

Disappointed as we travelled from Urmston this evening for food and walked into a half empty pub for a meal to be told kitchen closed at 7:30pm. False advertisement as the website states 9pm for food. I would have thought after covid restaurants would be crying out for customers, obviously not!

Seems over years food quality has improved, but service is rolling down. We sat outside and made our orders inside. Which was very slow. Also not feeling so welcomed,as it used to be. And please 🙏 I'm begging you 🙏 Learn how to make a coffee! Not a rocket science. Smile more. Don't forget about customs sitting outside waiting over 40 mins for their order.

Fabulous food, crisp white wine and great staff made this an excellent meal. The food came really quickly too which was a blessing as we were both starving. Highly recommended.

Had an amazing 80th birthday celebration today for 37 people. The food was perfect, staff very efficient and friendly, and had a lovely room. Paul and his team went out of the way to make it a very special experience. I had a wonderful time.

We held a family wake here. The place, staff and food were exceptional. We would recommend to anyone.

Terrible pub, food was very poor. The manager was useless and his staff are just doing enough to get to the end of their shifts Re comment from Paul. The manager had the chance to resolve the issues when he came over and spoke to us but he did nothing (I did not get the managers name but he had a South Afican accent).

Always welcoming, Dog friendly, decent pub grub ( no sandwiches on Saturdays), kids playground, good beers. Consistently just what a pub should be.
