Leaving the hotel without a breakfast, I was searching for a establishment which will serve me a hearty breakfast. Struggling to find a restaurant or cafe that would do so at 10am, was proving to be a challenge. As a friend suggested to try this Cafe out, as soon as i seen the menu I wasn't excited as I have a big appetite. I was completely wrong! I was served a healthy, organic, flavoursome and delicious breakfast. I fell in love with their savoury muffins. Friendly staff, laid back atmosphere and great fresh food.

Service is great here! They make the effort to listen to and actually make your coffee to your specifications. They even remembered how I liked it from yesterday! Their feta and veg muffin is really tasty. I just came back today and had the same! Might try some of the other good-looking baked goods tomorrow! Time to finish munching on my muffin!

Just because you are in South Kensington and across from the museums does NOT make it right to charge NINE POUNDS for a salmon and cream cheese bagel. You read that correctly, folks. 9 bloody pounds for an average plain bagel, cream cheese, a few pieces of smoked salmon, and a spoonful of some cucumber salad underneath. Is this little "salad" their justification for the ridiculous price of £9? Smoothies aren't the greatest value, either. Customer service: nothing special. Smiles and thank yous would help. Taste: very good flavour, but still not £9. I checked this place out as their website gave me the impression that they had fresh juices. They had freshly pressed orange juice, not much else. Disappointing to say the least. For the record and helpful comparison, Harrod's food hall charges half the price of this place's salmon bagel. HARRODs. When you are charging double the price of Harrod's, something is truly wrong. Oh wait, Harrod's bagel doesn't come with the tablespoon of cucumber salad. That must be why you charge NINE POUNDS for the damn bagel. I will never go here again, despite working locally.

This is an okay place to sit and have an overpriced Panini if going to one of the nearby museums. I didn't particularly notice any cleanliness problems as others have. I might have given a better rating if the staff hadn't all been standing around laughing and joking with each other while my Panini was getting cold downstairs. Had to ask them to go get it for me.

Lovely decor and rustic seating outdoors. We only ordered one of their shakes which were very good. Want to come back to try the food. Little on the pricey side but still a nice place to grab something to eat.

We visited Roots & Bulbs based on an online review we saw. It was quite busy when we arrived, however, a table just opened up as we went in. The cafe latte and bagel with chicken I had were tasty, and the small cafe itself is nice and modern. It's also closely located to various museums in the neighborhood (i.e. Victoria & Albert Museum). Recommended for a simple lunch on your way to the museums.

This cafe is located on a pedestrian area just outside south Kensington tube,on the way to Exhibition road and it's famous museums.Given it's location, expect places that cater to tourists, namely a relatively small number of repeat clientele.Viewed in this context, the food and drinks are good and prices typical for the area.Better option that places like Brindisa,Comptoir Libanaise nearby, although with fewer choices.

When I commented on this to the waitress she confirmed that they know about them and that they are trying to eliminate them as best they can and that all the other cafes have flies on their food.....well have you tried a good cleaning, and maybe covering your food and btw just in case you didn't realise reputable cafes across the road do not have flies on their food!

The service was friendly and the food was as expected, if a little pricey. What disappointed me was the need for a good deep clean throughout. Floors needed sweeping and washing and the church chairs all need a freshen up, mine had rice cakes in the back. The toilet area also need cleaning.

In the heart of South Kensington. Ok for a quick drop in coffee, but sandwiches and paninis very expensive for what you get, as was the other lunch food. My single egg sandwich was £5 and bread was so dry it was crispy! Paninis £7.50! Very little room to sit on ground floor although apparently further seating down stairs.

I was here back in September 2015 for a weekend lunch with my brother and was impressed by the freshness of the food! I ordered the avocado, smoked salmon and poached eggs on toast, which came with a side salad. I thought the avocado was especially good because it was actually mixed with seasoning and hard-boiled egg! That was a surprise when I tasted it but a good one. It gave the overall dish more depth, as avocado toast can sometimes be quite ordinary. It was a good, light and healthy option for lunch and would also be perfect as brunch!

Yesterday was a mild sunny Sunday morning and we chose this very inviting looking cafe to have coffee and one of the fantastic looking almond croissants. When I bit into it, the croissant was literally hard so much that when I tapped it onto the wooden table, it made a thud sound. My husband brought it back indoors and the unhelpful male staff member with a beard told him it was "impossible" as it was only just delivered that morning. My husbands very gentlemanly reply was that although it had been "delivered" that morning it certainly had not been freshly baked that morning. I would have understood but A refund was not offered and my husband did not argue . Perhaps it was divine intervention because these treats have about a zillion calories in them, but the next time I'm feeling self indulgent I can assure you I wont be returning here.

Since its opening I've been a loyal customer and went there almost daily. Not anymore. Why? In the South Ken area Roots & Bulbs had a unique offering: great tasting cold pressed juices, homemade superfoods (like energy balls) and nicely seasoned organic food from a buffet during lunchtime. After a holiday break I came back. Most of the old staff, really friendly folks, had left. Where the former juice fridge, a central piece of R&B was, were now 3 misplaced tables. The food buffet was gone. The reason for all this? Management decided on redirecting the strategic course. To where, may people ask? What stays if you strip off the core values of an identity? A replaceable and undifferentiated service with weak customer retention. I hope the management reads. After all, R&B still has loyalists that believe in the greatness of the business model and are more than willing to spend.

I love fresh juices and I frequently buy them around town. Today I was walking past Roots and Bulbs with my son and I thought I would stop in to get a juice and a salad or something healthy to take away. I struggled to get the buggy into the door (being pregnant as well). Finally inside, I walked up to the counter of food to take a look. The young man who was working there never asked if I needed help and stayed to the side. I eventually just grabbed a juice and went to pay. It was a small juice and I was surprised to be charged 5 pounds. The women who took my payment were friendly with myself and my son. As we left I again really struggled to get out of the door and I noticed the young man who worked there just watching us without offering to help. Finally another customer helped to hold the door. It is really upsetting that staff would watch a customer in need and do nothing. I would pay 5 pounds for a small juice if I liked a place enough but this one definitely not.

I've been here twice and both times it's been great! The bagel with chicken and avocado is just superb! The walnut brownie is so moist and delicious- and not overly sweet which I loved! Very generous portions and at such reasonable prices for fresh organic products. Both times I've been, the customer service has been fantastic too, very minor errors/ easyily made mistakes were dealt with very professionally and as a previously a waitress, I completely understood and couldn't have dealt with it better myself. This cafe is small and cramped, although there is 'additional seating downstairs'. Despite families and children being present, there was no children's menu. The menu is limited. You're meant to order and pay at the counter, so service at the table is minimal. When our food was served, we were asked if we needed anything else, so I requested water. It never arrived, so one of us had to trudge back upstairs to get water.

Went into the South Kensington store today and got a Mocha Rice Cake to takeaway for my friend. She went to take a bite of it and realised it had nuts in. As being allergic to nuts she asked me to try some to see if she was right. It had a very strong smell and taste of peanut butter. I went to take it back to the shop and ask to exchange it for something else which the staff was perfectly fine with but there was NO allergy information written on the any of the cake labels which is actually with new EHO regulations, against the law. The labels need this information on so the customer is aware of what they are buying and for their own health and safety especially as being allergic to nuts is very common. Also the gentleman who served me was very sure there was no nuts in the mocha rice cake until he looked at the allergy booklet from behind the counter. Staff need to be made more aware of what is in products or atleast have it written on the back of the labels so they know (and obviously the front for the customer)And for that reason I will rate the Cafe 2 out of 5 stars.

A convenient and friendly place for a snack and to catch up on emails. The coffee is good and the free WiFi works well with instant, fuss-free connection. It's a small place but the space is used efficiently, and ordering at the counter combined with delivery to your table makes good use of time. It's good value, especially for an up-market area like South Ken, and makes a pleasant change from the identical multi-national chains.

I don't know why I do this to myself. The awful name.. The place was SCREAMING AT ME, "Don't sit down, it's tedious, its going to be SOOOO bland..." ... just like the super-bland middle-class customers craving their quinoa, peppery rocket (arugula), "superfoods" and chai lattes...And it was even blander than I expected - awful.Oh - and it took them 15 minutes to make and serve the coffee - which arrived COLD, bitter and burnt. Filthy. If you're lower middle-class, bland and credulous, it's all yours... otherwise avoid this place like it's got visible pustules.Lesson: TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS...

For many years I used Greenfields where I received consistently outstanding courteous, friendly, and swift service. Now where are they? Food quality was always the highest and prices reasonable but creeping up forced upon them by rapacious landlord happy to cede their territory to the growing French / Belgian community. Was it not Bonaparte who referred to the English as a "nation of shopkeepers"? Is it not ironic, therefore, that where he could not win at Waterloo his descendants could in South Ken....
