Lovely cafe for a catch-up with friends. We enjoyed lovely home cooked food and delicious cake, there really is something for everyone. We saw others enjoying the afternoon tea, which looked impressive. They catered really well to my requirements as a vegan, and we had brilliant friendly service from all members of staff.

I've been going to Room No 9 almost since it first opened, round about the turn of the century. I go because I like the staff, I like the food and I like browsing in the shop afterwards. And I enjoy the company of people eating there: quite often I run into ones I haven't seen for a while. Sometimes I take along my newspaper to read, too. It's a place where I can just relax. Long may it be so.

We went here today on a friend's advice and definitely were not disappointed. It was only to be for a coffee and a chat, but one look at the cakes and our willpower disappeared! The staff were welcoming and friendly, but not intrusive, giving us plenty of time to study the menu Indeed, if I hadn't got a lunchtime work meeting to go to we'd have been induced to have that too.The cakes themselves were soft and delicious (you need to try the Victoria Sponge) and we will most certainly be back when we have more time.

This little cafe is a favourite of mine for lunches. I work nearby so it's easy to pop in there but that's not the only reason I do. I meet my friends in there for lunch, we do have to book a table as it's very small and the food takes a while because it's all wholesome freshly cooked food. They have a regular menu and also a specials board and a soup board. Everything is homemade and totally delicious. You get great sized portions too. The staff are friendly and helpful and it is a real treat to visit there.

I have been here on several occasions and each time the food has been wonderful, it is often very busy and has a lovely down to earth, home-made feel about it. It is reasonably priced and has a good selection of food, the reason I am marking it down is purely the service. Every time I have been here it has taken at least five or ten minutes for someone to bring over a menu, let alone take an order. When we have asked to order having been left for some time we have been told (albeit, politely) to wait just a second (while they finish what they are doing, usually cleaning a table). The priorities are slightly in the wrong place here. But like I say, excellent food!

I'm not from Leighton Buzzard and found room 9 online after looking at pricier afternoon teas in Hertfordshire. The table was set up beautifully for when we arrived and tea was served quickly. We were able to select any hot drink from the menu and they accommodated my 5 month old without any fuss. The selection of homemade sandwiches, scones and cakes were delicious and we took home what we didn't eat. They also accommodated our 2 food allergies wonderfully. The price is so cheap for the quality you get it's unbelievable. I'm a regular afternoon tea goer and would expect to be spending £20-25 a head I will definitely be making another trip here! I've already told all of my friends about it.

Room No.9 is my favourite place to visit for breakfast lunch or afternoon tea in town. It is the perfect place to catch up with friends or for me a great way to treat my staff whilst catching up with work. A particular favourite is the 'Room No.9 Breakfast' which is a treat on a saturday when hubby and I escape for a break. Lyn's special pate is gorgeous and I always have it when its on the specials board. The staff are friendly, attentive and always so helpful. I love to shop downstairs too, theres always wonderful gifts for all occasions, stationery, clothes and accessories galore. This time around I went with my grandfather who has been going since it opened I found out (over our delicious lunch). For dessert we shared a slice of coffee cake and a slice of bread pudding which were excellent (as always).I honestly can't rave about this cafe enough, as everyone I take with me is just as smitten with it as I am.When you go (I say when as this cafe should never be an if) I highly recommend the minted pea and feta soup followed by the coffee and walnut cake!

I was shocked and horrified when three of us lunched in here today. We booked a table for 1pm and arrived 12.50. We ordered a chicken and avocado salad, omelette and salmon sandwich. When the chicken meal eventually arrived 20 minutes later it was just lettuce and a few sprigs of cress as the salad part and at over £8 I thought it rather underwhelming.I mentioned this to the waitress. Next, the cook came storming out asking what the problem was. She said she was busy as it was just herself working and had a very arrogant and crass attitude. I said I was leaving and not paying. On the way out she came out again, waving a kitchen utensil saying I was rude and shouted at me to 'fxxx off' in full view of the restaurant. The owner tried to apologise and asked the cook to apologise but she refused!Needless to say, I certainly won't be setting foot in that establishment again!Enter at your peril!!

Leighton buzzard has lots of little cafes but this is a personal favourite. Upstairs from a shop of the same name, it's smallish, about 9 tables, but worth a wait if they're busy. Do take bookings as well. The menu isn't huge, breakfast until 11.30, then sandwiches, jackets, omelettes, salads, Welsh rarebit etc. And very nice looking cakes though I haven't tried them. Specials are often a good bet, had a sublime Cullen skink last winter - best I've ever tasted. Why three quirky ratings, because room number 9 is worth it. We keep coming back, we always enjoy the experience, the atmosphere and the service. After a while, staff remember you and treat you with friendly courtesy.Everything is worth eating, meals, breakfast and cakes. The coffee is exceptional and by the far some of the best coffee we can find in any cafe. Nearby is a famous chain cafe which we do use when we are not in the area. A realistic comparison is the coffee at Room No.9 is far superior and worth trying. They do have some little oddities, some of the young staff can be confused by simple instructions. But if you get over this you can see why we like to return most Saturdays and occasionally bring friends.

We are back here again, one tries to avoid posting to often about somewhere. But sometimes you just have to do it. I suppose we come for the entertainment as much as the ambience. The male waiter in question from our last post still struggles with the basics. But once you get over the fact that he cannot remember that you come here nearly every week and make the same reservation in the same name. Then you are onto a winner. The coffee remains outstanding and my wife and I like playing poached egg roulette. Some weeks we get luscious yolky yummy joy. Other weeks the poached egg is masquerading as its near boiled cousin. We like it here, its great value and in our lives it has become an island of sanity and routine in our otherwise demanding existences. The shop is worth a mooch and the owner knows who you are. Maybe some of the waiting staff will realise that we also play the 'do you want milk' game, as we always ask for our coffee black.

My Mum, two sons and I went to Leighton Buzzard this weekend for a look around and came upon Room No 9. The shop downstairs had lots of lovely items (clothes, gifts, cards, hats, etc) and we were very impressed with the art shop at the back of the store. The tea room was fantastic and the staff made us very welcome. Just stopped for a cuppa and some cake, but we'll definitely be back!

The cakes, tea and coffee are exceptional. The Welsh rarebit is made from a very bland cheese and is a bit disappointing. Some of the staff order you to "enjoy" when they deliver your food which is a bit annoying. Generally though it's all good.

Yes, this is a quirky little café. It is above a gift shop come art shop. We found it by accident and noticed there was a café above the shop. Definitely worth a look as the generous serving of goats cheese on the salad I had was lovely. The cakes look good to.

Over the last few years this place has become a regular Saturday haunt. A little island of quirky sanity in this mad world. The coffee is better than any costabucks and the food whilst sometimes hit and miss is pleasant. So long as you dont confuse the male waiters with complex instructions (like wanting no milk with coffee) you are onto a winner here.

Quite liked it as a peaceful friendly upstairs room for a snack lunch. Tasty and reasonable value. Makes a change to find a town centre snack/tea shop type place where you are not behind plate glass at street level feeling like you're in a goldfish bowl.

Stumbled in here this afternoon for a late snack lunch. Half full and light open predominantly white setting. A few specials and predictable regulars. No pressure and thank heavens no musak. About £14 for one course including a drink, total for the two of us. Fairly bland rare giftie shoppie downstairs lifted slightly by some art supplies. Beware steep stairs and downstairs wc.

Lots of people don't realise there is a tea room upstairs at Room No9 - it is a well kept secret but do pop along. They do coffee, lunch and tea with a range of home cooked dishes all in a quaint little upstairs room.

I have been to Room No 9 a few times for lunch. The baked potatoes at £4.50 are expensive and the cheese that is used is tasteless. My husband had the welsh rarebit which was equally as bland. The service is good but the food just does not inspire.

I visit this cafe regularly and its a great place to meet friends. A lovely menu is complimented by friendly staff and wonderful cakes. They also do half size cakes - a great idea if you are watching your waistline or your budget!

Browse around the gift and art shop and take a trip upstairs for a home cooked breakfast or meal, light snack or just tea and a piece of cake. Food is home made, good value, good quality and the staff are friendly. Tables are available to book in advance, very popular locally with shoppers.

Sadly shut forever unless someone comes up with extortionate price Fullers want. Could be such a great destination pub with right chef

A very welcoming experience thanks to the excellent heritage centre guides who knew their stuff and pointed us in the right direction. The Centre is a must visit not just for aged train spotters but for every one. The line has a new future with East West Rail which needs all our support to get locals back on trains. Great coffee and cake made the day.

It started well with a good selection on the menu. When we came to order our breakfast sandwiches my friend asked how much it would be to add an egg to her bacon sandwich, at which point the waitress advised that the prices on the menu had increased so weren't correct & could only say they had gone up by about 50p. On asking for a sparkling water she advised that had also gone up by 20p maybe 30p, these increases were due to the cost of living increase. When we questioned why the menus hadn't been updated she advised there were new owners & it hadn't been done yet but that there was a sign on the wall inside the shop advising of the price increase, we were sat outside but to be honest anyone entering the shop wouldn't have seen it as it would have been behind them. She then brought out the A4 sign. She also tried to find an updated menu which she couldn't find. Firstly I am sure this must be illegal to advertise one price & charge another & secondly a hand written note could have been added to the menu or a copy of the price increase attached to the menu which everyone would have seen. Maybe the new owners should hold fire on the price increase until new menus are available as it may save their reputation. The breakfast sandwiches were very tasty, however the 'glass' that accompanied the sparkling water was in fact a jar with a thread for a screw top. Some might call it funky but not to everyone's taste. Needless to say it wasn't used. There are standards which have to be met & the clear advertising of correct pricing is one of them. We are all effected by the cost of living crisis & on occasions when we do our bit to support local businesses we might be watching the pennies too.

First time in this local pub for a Sunday roast and didn’t disappoint Friendly welcome and lovely service from all the ladies in the pub All of us had roasts and best roast had for some time went large all the meats and decent portion and selection of veg Finished off with lovely creamy ice cream and can recommend the sticky toffee pudding Good pint London pride and nice hot floater coffees Will take some beating for friendly staff and decent food
