Went here just before closing on sat 17/08, went with my boy got chips and savaloy, tasted great the staff member kindly gave a few extras as was closing, and the girl that wrapped and took payment was gorgeous so was a win win in my book

Great little spot round the corner from my work. Offered me peas and gravy for no extra cost with my pie which was appreciated. Only thing I would say is that the online menu is larger than the one in-store so would be nice to see all the options in store definitely- not a problem though.

Fish was nice, best I have had in a while. I like thicker chips these are slightly bigger than french fries but ok if you like that sort of thing.

This chippy has gone from the best ever to the absolute worst. Loved this chippy for years but over the last year price’s have increased and quality has gone down. The latest visit was just diabolical, for quality, wet oily fish with half cooked batter, We will not be returning.

Just serve what I ask for. Not something I don't want.

A very traditional chippy the food is spot on I can't fault it. The service is very good and choose how big the que is they have it down in no time. The best I've been to in quite a while.

I always see the qué and traffic so I thought I would try on my way home, never again, Over priced and tiny portions London prices for for a goldfish and burnt chips very disappointed I don't understand why people qué outside they're much better choice for the money even wetherspoons !!

This fish shop used to be really good but last couple of times we've been the food hasn't been very good. Went today having ordered 2 mixed kebabs to find out when we got home they were just donner kebabs so over charged for what we got. The food was also cold and just not up to standard.

Sadly this was the worst "chippy" meal we've ever had and that's bad. Were do we start we ordered half hour in advance and when we collected it was not busy, the chips were white as ghosts and pale, some were rubbery types and others hard from the lack of cooking UNCOOKED. Who serves someone this? Could the staff not see the condition or do they not time food? The horrors don't stop there sadly 😔 the fish was undercooked and we wouldn't even talk about it for a few days as we kept Gipping at the thought, how would they ever consider this acceptable? A skilled vet could have brought that fish back to life it was wrong. And curry what curry? It was so small I belive we got a spoonful at best, the only part edible was scraps, we chucked 95% in the bin after initially trying some, £20 gone down the drain, we debated talking it back but at that time of night coupled with the journey we just said never again will we order from this house of horrors, we've had nice food here before but nothing could ever tempt us back, Uncooked food that had glanced at the fryer at best, now since then we've tried Lynns chippy just down the road and that was amazing 5 star Lynn cooks everything when you enter the shop and the food is well cooked and cheap compared to Romans, the banter and staff plus taste are far superior, she has been around 20 of years just struggles with being out of sight on a backstreet, DO NOT GO TO ROMANS UNLESS YOU WANT RAW FISH AND HARD chips, try Lynn instead :) see images for yourself.

Fancied a scollop fish cake buttie but nobody seems to sell them anymore found that Roman's fish bar did scollop fish cakes and ordered online couldn't order a fish cake buttie as option not available so ordered a chip buttie and fish cake aswell as my family's bits and bobs . Order was spot on paid on collection food was perfect chips are cut thinner than other chip shops but all cooked to perfection. Will use again Thankyou

I’ve not had any type of kebab from a chippy for years. Due to the way, certain manufacturers season their meat. I went for kebab meat and chips. Little bit peeved that it’s £6.80 at date of purchase would’ve been a bit better to swallow at £6.00 😳😂😂 300g of Kebab meat and around 264g of Chips Garlic Mayonnaise obviously had to be on it. The Chips tasted fantastic. The Meat was seasoned right. But not very warm and I only live 2 minutes if that by Car. Nice tasty Food, just let down by lack of temperature of the “meat” Would go again (if I’m allowed 😂😂) Bread cake (Bap) was my own, Not purchased from the Chippy

I use this place like 3 times a week. Lately i feel Very rushed. Like, serve pay and out as fast as possible. Fish was a bit dry and chewy and the roman fish bar used to do awesome chips. But not a fan anymore I know this is a personal preference but I do want to kinda enjoy my food. All I can say about their fish specials for £6-50 is it keeps u alive. Its been a while since I sat back after and thought " wow , I enjoyed that " thinking of trying somewhere else.

The vinegar really is just water in a bottle. I'll not use them again. Proper ruined my dinner

One of the best chip shops around staff lovely the food is excellent what ever you order and the value is great to specially the specials they do. Please try there mixed kebabs lovely. All in all very good what more can you ask for. The only down side is no delivery which is a shame.

Stopped in for a bit to eat on the way home from an appointment in the area. Easy and convenient parking in a well maintained car park. I stopped in around 18:30 on a Friday night, so I was not surprised to see a queue out of the door - if anything this reassured me that people thought it was worth waiting for. However, they had a good number of staff on, and things moved along quickly, and I soon got to place my order. Plenty of food was available with a good choice on the menu. Prices were average, and certainly what I was expecting. The portion size was good though, and I think they're very good value for money. Staff were pleasant and efficient, and I soon had my box meal of sausage in batter, chips and beans and headed back to the car to tuck in. Food was hot, fresh and tasty, with no problems at all. The chips here are slightly thinner than what I would think of as a traditional chippy, but they were perfectly cooked, and it made no difference to the taste. Overall a very good meal that recharged the batteries for the drive home, and I would certainly visit again and recommend.

Only had chips but they were absolutely gorgeous and reasonably priced. Will visit again in the future .

Scary place as soon as you enter this chippy all you can hear is the women shouting if you want a kebab they say loudly do you want salad. Yes please what sauce you want as if your a mind reader. Then as your food is been wrapped at the speed of sound you feel that after handing over your money it's not a pleasant feeling. It's like been in a stock market with the shouting plus the large chip in a box is a small.one in a bag. No one smiles at Romans WHY

Great service from the girls.. about 6 or more in store at any time. Unfortunately food is not great. Worst fish n chips iv had.. not worth half the prices they charge.. too much emphasise on fast service and obviously no love in cooking/making and or poor produce.

Just collected a large order and the general consensus was positive. Donner wrap and chips was lovely and you get chips with it so don't order separately. Chicken kebab good too! The fried food i.e. fish and sausage were a bit too greasy to properly enjoy. Chips were good! I'd have again but stick to the kebab!

Portion size for dinner/lunchbox meal was very adequate. Was too much food for me personally but tasted good and worth the money. Probably the only good one in the area that open Monday after 1 and before 4 too.

Really unimpressed. The most soggy chips I EVER had from any type of takeaway, really bad. Fish also dry, soggy and a bit chewy even. Only giving one star up cos the service was polite. Sadly though worst fish and chips I ever had from a takeaway and I wish I was joking here. I really can't see how they got such high reviews, cos the food is 100% absolutely not worth it, won't be coming back. It's edible, but nothing is the right texture here and really blant.

I originally awarded this Fish & Chip shop 2 stars. However, things have improved tremendously since then, so I wanted to raise that to 5 stars. Excellent fish, cooked to perfection, and the staff are friendly despite being incredibly busy. They also have a convenient, large car park. The only drawback now is when you have to queue, but that is simply a sign of how good and popular Roman Fish Bar has become! Recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Excellent food great polite staff well priced great portions

Used this fish shop numerous times and never had a problem always good tasty and well ooked fish. As I have allergies and cannot have batter we always ask for either just flour or slightly battered they always just dip on flour in and out so it doesn't collapse In fryer. But today my husband went and came back with a 2 battered fish battered fish. One with batter for him.The batter wasn't even cooked. The chips were very pale and I had to pop them in a frying pan to make them how a chip should be. The fyrer obviously didn't know how to do my fish and should have asked and if couldnt do it I would not have wasted over 14 pounds for fishand chips. Very upset and disappointed

I've been a customer for years at Roman Fish Bar, its my number 1 fish n chip shop with great food and with great staff members who's works there.

Passing visit, had fish, chips and peas all excellent quality and at just over a tenner was great value for a large serving.

Always cooked well , never greasy, but always tasty

Very disappointed with portion sizes. Had pie and chips last week and only got a very small handful of chips. Thought it was a kids portion! Gave benefit of the doubt and tried again next week. Had chicken curry and chips special this week and got less than 8 small thimble sized pieces of chicken no onion and not even enough sauce to cover all the chips. Both weeks I was still hungry and had to find something else to eat. This is all ashame because they used to be good. I understand that costs are going up but you still want a decent portion for your money. Unfortunately we will be looking else where for a better meal even if we have to pay a little more.
