We ordered through deliveroo. The thai green curry arrived like a tub of green water with a few pieces of chicken floating in it, and my noddle dish was extremely average. We had very high hopes for the place, but sadly it was so below par, they really need to up their game.

Just what has happened to my favourite delivery Thai restaurant? It has gone downhill rapidly over the last few months in quality and quantity. A chicken pannang which once contained aubergines, courgette, peppers and green beans has been reduced to a horrible thin sauce swimming in oil with a few slices of red chili and tough chicken. The Pad Thai is now two thirds of the portion and the sesame prawns are down from 5 to 4. I really hope it improves but in the meantime I'll be trying others in the locality. I would stress that I have not visited the restaurant and only ever had delivery from them.

We ordered lamb massaman and got beef. They thought this was funny and wouldn’t accept it was beef as we clearly don’t know the difference!!! Terrible customer service.

Rom Mai cooks really good food. The dishes are alway exploding with flavour. My favourite is the mushroom tum yum soup and Beef Penang. The staff is always welcoming and attentive. It is a great place to visit.

We have been to this restaurant several times now and have found the food excellent and the service equally good and friendly. We highly recommend coming here especially as it is so near to the cinema.

For a Thai take-away in SW London they don't come better than this. Utterly delicious panang and green curries, crispy paper-fried prawns, super pad thai. The other main Thai in these parts is the overrated Awesome Thai and this food is so much more authentic and tasty in our view. They are also very accommodating as they made a special vegan dish for my daughter. Yum!

I am obsessed with papaya salad so today I wanted to treat myself for a nice Thai. Having traveled Thailand for few months last year I had the chance to discover their cuisine and very authentic flavours. I ordered to take away Chicken satay Som tam (papaya salad with prawns) Khao kra-ti (coconut rice) I was absolutely excited with the smells and the look of it. starting to eat, delicious chicken and rice, the salad was nice to but then I went for a prawn and it just got me sick unable to finish my meal. It was raw inside and it tasted off I felt so disgusted and disappointed. I got me thinking that staff and manager should make sure every take away order is satisfying the standards as once the order is gone you cannot do anything to fix mistakes or make your costumer happy. In this case One expired prawn ruined my meal.

Decor needs a rethink unless the 70s are coming back. Service was good to very good. Dishes were plentiful and tasted good. Wine list is good value compared to some others. For some reason this place is never as busy as Awesome Thai - slightly worse location is the most likely reason, but probably nicer food just.

Rom Mai offers some of the best Thai in London, without question some of the most authentic and delicious we've had. And we're gradually making our way through the big menu. So i have to write a second review in the hope management might be reading! The quality, presentation and pricing of the food is without fault. Yet the decor and atmosphere need work. It feels cold. And so, more often than not, it is far from busy (putting it politely). It isnt inviting to sit down and so we tend to do take away as our dining room is more enticing. A shame as we'd rather eat out. London isnt exactly short of Thai restaurant websites for inspiration. The wine and beer list could do with improvement. Come on Rom Mai! Let alone a 5* TA rating, you should be packed!

The restaurant was nearly empty when we called in, but it was mid week between xmas and new year. The food was fresh and tasty. The waiter was helpful advising us in our menu choices. Will definitely go back.

I can't give a place that serves good food bad marks, but I have to say that there were three things I didn't like. Firstly, they offer two brands of beer, but actually only one because they sponsor the restaurant. Cute. Secondly, as the plates were cleared, there was a large and rather unmissable blob of curry on the mat. It never got cleaned. In the end I did it myself ! It was quiet, but we were never offered dessert. If I judge it just for the food, it was good. Just don't expect much else !

I read some mixed opinions, however please reach your conclusion after the visit. Maybe not the typical Thai restaurant as the interior (quite nice) but food was gorgeous, my wife applauded her chosen dish (ginger, oyster chicken) two days later. Chicken Panang may more on hot side than at other restaurants but full of flavour and very tasty. Staff very attentive but not disturbing. Well priced and definitely addition to our list. A++

Simply put, we've pretty much stopped going to Thai restaurants in the last year as bar a (very) few in town, if enjoyable, we just felt we were never hitting that point of 'will definitely be back'. Until now. If we still dont know what to make of the decor that's on the cusp of being better, the food was 'back in Thailand' exquisite. Som Tam delicious, and same for TYK soup, red duck salad and - yipee! - pomelo salad, that isn't easy to find! My partner often likes Pad Thai, which I am usually nonplussed about, but here it was fantastic. Rom Mai does not cut corners in portions, or in the inclusion of ingredients. All dishes had generous meat/ fish/ prawn/ other; not the measly token few sometimes found elsewhere. Service was friendly and efficient and the wine list perfectly fine though could perhaps be more bold to match the cuisine that surprised us in its level of quality. This is very fine indeed. Something unusual that I can't quite place but overall the food was possibly the most authentic since we came back from TH, yet has modern twists. So, for instance, if some dishes are gloriously, true Siam spicy, at the same time chilies are not thrown into everything; or sweetened to local taste. What marked out the food here really was the understanding of flavour purity, balance and combinations. This place is excellent and with a few tweaks (that have nothing to do with the food that is already there), it could become a south of the river reference!

Lovely friendly service, outstanding Thai food and a real sense of 'being in Thailand' right in Barnes (perhaps without quite so much humidity!). Extensive menu we've yet to exhaust - generous portions, exquisitely presented... Highlights so far being the green papapya salad - the best ive tasted, Tamarind roasted duck and the red/green curries. Any leftovers can kindly be wrapped up to take home and it's always happy-times with the prawn crackers and after-dinner mints thrown in! We have fast become md-week regulars - thoroughly recommend!
