Lovely space, great food and excellent service (good service being unfortunately rare in St Andrews)

Excellent. 1st time here. Food was fantastic. Not local, but we will be back.

It's a really cozy, quite and cool place to drink and eat. Menu and wines are delicious. They have tasty pasteries. I visited the place to celebrate my friend birthday and they treat us very well. I will definitely visit the place soon.

This restaurant literally deep fries everything in the same old stale and used oil. £15 for a tiny scallops that only tasted like the oil they were deep fried in. Same for beef balls; very small portions and deep fried… so basically everything in this restaurant tastes the same because of the deep frying of all dishes. Not boutique at all. Save yourself £135 and just get cheap Chinese takeout for £20 instead. Literally no difference in quantity and in fact the £20 Chinese takeout might even taste better.

Been to Rogue twice and both times it was great. The steak is so flavourful, I've tried a few of their cuts and all were very good. They have a nice sear and are well seasoned. It is more expensive than other places in st andrews but for the quality of steak you get I would say it's very reasonably priced. I've tried the oysters and some of the cocktails too and they were very good as well.

My wife had heard really good things about Rogue, so when we were on holiday in the area we would treat ourselves to lunch. We wish we hadn’t as the service was mediocre and the food below par - And had a nicer pint and toasty in the Railway in at Lower Largo, and the barmaid was funny and friendly. My burger, which came in a two day old morning roll, was unseasoned and my wives chicken burger was bland - also served in a stale morning roll. I did email the Rogue team to feed this back to them, but still not heard anything. NEVER AGAIN will I visit this overpriced restaurant.

Absolutely loved this place, I had their oysters and they are amazing, the service quality was perfect and our server was very nice and smiley, I throughly enjoyed my time there, very nice bathrooms, good wine selection as well as food. Very nice vibe all the food is fresh and for a fair price I 100% recommend this restaurant to anyone who comes to St Andrews

Food was of an extremely high standard, the portions were generous. I had a steak which was cooked perfectly and my wife went for the half lobster which was reasonably priced given its size and tasted fantastic They had a good selection of drinks and their alcohol free cocktails were surprisingly good Would definitely go back

We were there yesterday , the smell of raw meat near the fridge was really disgusting , our table was exactly close to it . The atmosphere and smell was terrible, the service wasn't good. I asked for trufe for side he didn't even know about it and one of the customer said mushroom with cheese but he brought chips with cheese , he did really confused me, i never asked for chips , unfortunately the restaurant near the beach was closed so we found this by accidentally I told my husband we shouldn't go there , we were really unhappy the quality of food wasn't good .I would never go back there again at all 🤮🤮😧😵‍💫

Good food and drink - fab service. Went with friends and had a variety of dishes, all excellent but special praise for my monkfish Thai curry. On a hot, muggy day this place was cool inside in every sense 👍

Was initially sat out in a back space away from main restaurant dingy and depressing and was re seated after complaining . Meals VERY AVERAGE . White wine we asked for NOT available. Red wine we ordered NOT available STEAK. over cooked BURGER basic LOBSTER okay however was advertised on menu with sanfire and salad but arrived without any in at all . Staff failed to even mention it. And told it wasn't available ( pattern here) Waitress was very pleasant but a little embarrassed . On the whole NOT A GREAT EXPERIENCE. in what was a much anticipated friendship reunion after 21 years Managment needs to manage .

A really classy dining experience for a surprisingly low price. Go for the steak and get the olives starter which is fabulous. Not sure how much some of the sauces added to the steak though. Cocktails were also nice and staff were all lovely. Would highly recommend.

Superb not cheap but excellent quality food fresh and an expansive menu could have eaten the lot. Chateau Briand cooked rare by a chef who knows how to cook and rest such fine quality meat. The cheese platter was also superb. Thankyou for such an excellent evening.

Had a very nice time here for a family meal. The food was delicious, we had steak burgers, sirloin steak and haddock, all cooked beautifully and cleaned plates. Desserts were also tasty. A couple of negative points - we ordered ale which was off, then a bottled beer which was also not available. And the server was very overworked - plates weren’t cleared between courses, had to ask for cutlery and napkins. General ambience was buzzy and comfortable. Would definitely go again.

Dined here last night for on of our honeymoon meals whilst in St Andrews over the weekend. We were sat at a lovely booth table at the front of the restaurant. We enjoyed oysters, beef skewers, burger and fish and chips. All absolutely superb. The nicest batter I have ever had. My husband really enjoyed his burger. Great cocktails and the waiting staff were superb. Would definitely return.

Food was great. Feel that the “Lobster Risotto” was a bit of false advertising thus the three stars. It was instead a Lobster Bisque Risotto with pieces of crayfish (crawfish). The menu description doesn’t mention the crawfish and certainly no mention that it’s lobster bisque vs lobster.

Amazing! Best steak burger I ever had, so tender, juicy and crispy. You have to try it! The mussels in white sauce are absolutely fantastic, make sure you order a spoon to enjoy the sauce unless you prefer to use the shells. The Ayrshire Pork Tomahawk was fab too. Wine selection, service and ambiance was lovely too. This gem deserves 5 stars! Thanks for the love! Hope I can come back.

If your skin colour is slightly different than them then please don’t go there. Staff was not at all helpful and there was discrimination throughout. I regret going there for my birthday party. We were given the corner table near the door, it was so cold no heater nothing the door was opening so many times. Not comfortable at all. Although we asked them thrice for table change but the staff was least interested and really very rude and discriminated us. I felt really uncomfortable and NEVER ever gonna visit that place again. Although the 1 star is for Chef and the food. The food was really good but the staff sadly really not expected. I had spent £186 for the table but the experience given was really pathetic.

Service - ⭐ Food - ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Atmosphere - ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Waited just over an hour for food after ordering despite the restaurant being mostly quiet. Sat in a seat just across from the plating area of the kitchen, so had a direct view of the plating process. As someone with a nut allergy (this was previously mentioned to the waitress and on our booking notes), it is expected that extra precautions will be taken in the kitchen to avoid cross-contamination where possible as this is a possibly life-threatening situation. From my viewpoint, I could see the chef handling raw ingredients with his bare hands (including peanuts) and not washing hands for the entire time. This is a potentially deadly and incredibly lazy workplace practice and I hope that this changes going forward - LIVES ARE AT RISK IF THIS CONTINUES. Ordered flat iron with beef dripping cooked chips and peppercorn sauce, steak burger and buttered greens. Burger was satisfactory, greens were simple but done well and flat iron was slightly under seasoned and unevenly cooked. Wine was an excellent pairing with the steak. Decor and general atmosphere was cozy and relaxed - a job well done. Overall, a mixed experience with the potential to be something great.

Popped in without a reservation while in the area and they were able to fit me in. Great service and great food. Highly recommend and look forward to returning when next in the area.

Granted we were a party of 8 but it was a slow sunday afternoon and only 2 other tables with guests are there, we had to wait for an hour to get our food ready.

Lovely restaurant in St Andrews. Had a delicious fillet steak main and partner said the fish was equally delicious. Great wine selection and a lovely Balvenie malt to finish. Staff were lovely and very attentive. Recommend Rogue 👍

Fun place on a Saturday night. Food was very tasty. Service on a busy night was slightly haphazard but we were catching up with friends so conversation flowed during the gaps. Friendly staff.

Stopped in for early Saturday dinner after lovely walk around the town of St Andrews. Prompt and friendly service. Delicious food, very reasonably priced. Battered haddock was so fresh. Steak burger excellent, as were dirty fries. Tomogawk pork chop was thoroughly enjoyed. Nice choice of beers, wines and spirits. Well worth a visit, may need advance booking.

It’s hard to put three stars as the food tasted so good, but eating at many a steak specialty restaurant, the quantity just wasn’t there. Staff were incredible, but the 16oz chateaubriand was not the “large front cut filet of tenderloin grilled between two lesser pieces of meat which are discarded after cooking. In fact it came more like an 7/10oz steak cut up, which left us feeling overcharged and lacking in volumes. We left still rather hungry. Great staff, great taste, very quantity, that included the starter which was also unsubstantial.. £75 for a steak for one person that should of been for two.. Will not be going back as tasty as it was.

Pretty speechless by the time I left, this place feels like a hidden gem within St. Andrews. I can only comment on the perfect evening with my girlfriend! It started with lovely drinks followed by the tastiest scallops with a tomato salsa which arrived with smiles from the very friendly staff. Steaks next - They were truly incredible, with a glass of red I felt like I’d landed in culinary heaven!! A massive thank you to the staff & Ricky the manager who made it even more special by recommending some after dinner whiskey, which I throughly indulged in.

Really mixed bag last night at Rogue. I’ve now been twice- the first time was fantastic. This made it an easy choice for my 30th birthday last night. However, it wasn’t quite as expected. No music playing where we were sitting which created a weird, stifled atmosphere and confused/slow service (cutlery not on the table 10 mins after our reservation time, steak knives arriving after our fillets creating an uncomfortable wait, my birthday cake came with candle unlit and no cutlery- just a ‘where do you want it’ uttered by staff) and my bearnaise was stone cold and clumpy on arrival rather than warm, smooth and buttery. The staff said it had been a long night and I wanted my guests to enjoy themselves, so I decided not to add to the stress and remained quiet about these issues. The steaks were great as normal, but the experience really lacked.

Best steak in St Andrews, the best steaks I ever had across multiple restaurants in multiple cities. -1 star for being inconsistent, occasionally (especially after busy periods of time) they would have below subpar steaks. I am not sure if this is because they ran out of meat is using less aged beef than usual or if it is because their usual chief is taking a break or something else.

Had the steak plater consisting of rump, sirloin and ribeye with 3 veg and sauces. Nice meal but spoilt being seated too close the door. Cold with customer traffic coming and going. Avoid this table if you can.

Had a fantastic dinner here. Food was was very well prepared, tasty and all portions were adequate. Well worth the visit.

Probably one of the best surprises we had for dinner. We were staying two minutes from Rogue made a reservation and had one of the best dinners on our 10 day trip. The steak was better than Chef Gordon's Bread Street, the seafood really was prepared excellent, and the deserts are a must. Not to mention, they make a great old fashioned. If you get a chance, go back and look at their kitchen... It's as basic as it could be and they are cranking out gems.

She says: So this place was friendly, the food was good and we had a nice time. I wanted to give a good review for our 22oz Porterhouse despite still feeling hungry at the end of it....there was nothing wrong with it but we should have ordered more for two big eaters that like their grub. It was £70 for the Porterhouse, 2 sides and 2 sauces. Cheeseboard was amazing as a desert, and a great portion. Saw other customers asking to see the meat options before choosing .. .should have done that! He says, food was OK. Sides were average, red wine jus was more beef than red wine. Porterhouse beef was cooked to order (medium rare) and really tasty. Was it worth the £70? Probably not. Been to other restaurants that offer more for less.

Reservation for dinner. Was really fantastic and enjoyed it thoroughly.

Good food, Good Service, Great libations and an extremely accommodating staff made this a wonderful evening. Their menu had something for each of the 12 tastes in our group and no-one went home hungry! Well worth the effort to get yourself here!

Excellent! We had the flat iron steak, dry-aged steak burger, and a plate of bread and olives (the whipped blue cheese was absolutely divine!) to share. Every bite of food was a mindblowing burst of flavour, combined with a nice ambience and friendly service. Would definitely come back.

All I had was a soup, but it was excellent. Friendly waitstaff and nice atmosphere.

My advice BOOK TABLE EARLY . they might not have basics after 8pm. Curtailed menu because of graduation menu . Looked fine but when we ordered starter of walnut, feta and pear salad it was not available. staple ingredients Yes/No Main course to be fair was very good good. Choice of dessert was reduced to two. Mixed ice cream . Offering Vanilla ,Strawberry and Chocolate. Alas no chocolate . Another staple lacking. The remaining choice was mille-feuille with fresh fruit. Or maybe as is fashionable "deconstructed" mille-feuille. Two piles of unappetising filo pastry surrounded by the fruit with the tiniest portion of "creme patisserie". Most disappointing. The splendid drinks menu failed to supply the lady's choice of rose ( nero d'avola). Whilst recognising that staff shortages abound in the catering industry I must also mention that basic serving skills were sadly lacking. Plates served diagonally across tables relying on customers to reach to serve themselves despite plenty of room to serve from beside the customer.

Very good food and hospitable service. The restaurant was full of guests.

A very nice place for seafood with delicate decorations and environment. I love the mussels cooked in Thailand red curry and the Cullen skink as the starter. Recommended.

We had dinner here on a recent trip to the town. We had a gluten free starter and then delicous steaks for mains. One of our group had a lovely looking Cheesecake(obvs not gluten free) for desert. Nice feel to the restaurant and the staff were great. Thanks.

Fantastic Experience!! We visited Rogue as a party of 12 friends. We were given a table through the back of the restaurant which was perfect for 12 loud golfers! The service was first class as was the £1000 worth of food and drink. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed our visit and we will definitely be back in the very near future. Thanks again Rogue!

Excellent food If just a bit pricey

Had the most wonderful lunch there today. The soup was excellent and so was the seafood salad. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone. Staff very efficient and friendly.

A good friend booked us in here for an evening meal 6th February 2022 on arrival all seemed ok until we sat down and were told we were to be served no alcohol as they said we have all had to much this I find strange as my wife dosent drink . We were all hungry as been to other establishments the same day all of the others the jigger Inn Russaks and the old course made our stay very welcome but at Rogue this was not the case food ok but had much better table service very poor and there attitude was not acceptable hence the reason for there £2 tip our bill was in the excess of £300 girl with blonde hair and manager were both very rude even after leaving he was giving us all funny looks I'd not recommended this place as staff and manager very abrupt at least there name mages sense Rogue a whole bunch of Rogues here

2 starts because the food was as good as it could ever be! Excellent food! Unfortunately what spoiled the night was the service, lack of care, lack of friendliness, it was almost like the blonde girl with tattoos was angry with us, she struggled to even say goodbye after paying £130. The guy that was on never said anything, no thanks, have a nice night , nothing! Disgrace! Kinda thing you would expect leaving a midnight takeaway

Had the best dinner in St Andrews at this place. The staff is extra friendly and the food is exceptional. Would highly recommend the oysters for starters, steak for main and cheese plater for dessert. Portion size is great, you will not leave this place hungry :)

Had a meal here during our stay at St Andrews. Our other choice was booked so this was recommended. The staff were really friendly and looked after us very well even went as far as giving us some cheesecake as it was my girlfriend's birthday. My turbot starter and sea bass main were beautiful. My girlfriend's food wasn't quite as good but we thoroughly enjoyed our evening, we' happily go back.

Not cheap, but worth it. Scallops for starter were fabulous, and the burger is a properly top-notch thing, beautiful crumb and a fabulous smoky sear. Truffle fries for the win…

Disappointing. Food was consistently great but service standards are lacking. Booked 2 months ahead and yet were seated next to the service station. Oysters (wonderful) served with a spoon and no oyster fork. Poached cod, mussels and oyster veloute (delicious) delivered with no fork for the mussels or bowl for the shells. Finger bowl but no towel. I could go on. This place has a great chef but needs someone running front of house.

Very dissatisfied with our meal and the attitude of the staff .Was it my fault that my fish wasn’t cooked through or my steak and sauce were cold ?Absolutely not but the staff made myself and my dining companions feel that I was being unreasonable . Not one of our meals were warm never mind hot .Third time at Rogue and yet to have a great meal. Oh dear! Will never return .

It was such a memorable night. Although the service was slow, the staff more than made up for it. Mac and cheese, steak, tequila and ambiance. What more could you want!

Waiting staff very pleasant and helpful. Meal extremely disappointing. My husband had the smallest scallops and lobster we have ever seen. I had turbot to start, nicely cooked but no seasoning at all. My main was pork belly, the skin was like a wet floppy band aid and a thick layer of soft slimy fat under it, this was served in a bowl of tasteless broth with chillies and spring onions floating in it, needless to say I sent it back and ordered the safe bet of fish and chips, disappointingly the batter was very greasy and soggy and the chips were like soggy wedges, I removed the batter and ate the fish, the only decent thing on the plate was the tartare sauce, again nothing was seasoned.I complained about it, the waitress handled all of this very well and deducted 20% off the bill, but we feel we were still robbed of £80. Also the presentation was sloppy. We were really looking forward to going out but just feel like we’ve been fleeced.

Excellent service, tasty food in a gorgeous setting. It was quiet but that suited us perfectly. Will definitely return for dinner and want to try the gin as well.

The restaurant has lovely modern decor with a really relaxed atmosphere.We had the charcuterie board to start, there was a lovely selection of meats and IJ Mellis cheese.For the main we shared the chateaubriand from the specials board, it came with 2 sides and 2 sauces, £70 felt very reasonable for all that. It was absolutely delicious, meat cooked perfectly to our taste. Staff were great and very attentive, we will definitely be visiting again.

We visited Rogue last night to celebrate a 50th birthday. The restaurant had acknowledged our request for a more private table and we were sat in our own alcove which made the meal all the more special. We ordered 2x porterhouse steaks between the 4 of us and they were cooked to perfection. The sides and sauces were delicious and we had 4 empty plates at the end of our meal. The service was outstanding, the staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. It was a great meal out and we look forward to visiting again.
