Service not their fault. One cook and one server. Probably about 20 customers and uber eats. They just could not handle demand

Great place to eat, the selctions of drinks are great and the service is brilliant. The manager has great chat so have a word with her. 😉

On 10th Feb we booked Montery Jacks, Dunfermline for a table on Sun 11th Feb at 5.30pm. We arrived at 5.25pm and went straight to the bar area. A lady was inputting an order into the till and told us she would be with us in 2 secs. We waited about 3mins! Once shown to our table we were advised by the waitress that she was on her own and that she had to do everything. She also stated that she had asked for extra staff but couldn't get anyone! Really?? Customers need to know this?? No. We waited 50mins before getting our drinks order taken and then we decided to give her our food order too due to the wait. Customers came in, sat and waited but after a long time without any interaction, waiting to be served, then left. Lots of money lost!! We eventually got our food which was ok but we definitely won't be back. Considering you are a restaurant/bar right next door to a Theatre, your business must be or should be thriving but unfortunately you've got it all wrong. Customer service is disgusting, food is ok but the location of your restaurant is bang on!! Get a grip or someone will steal your business. Ps... the girl serving.... who was also taking drink orders, making cocktails, dealing with Just Eat, taking food orders, helping in the kitchen with the one & only cook, taking payments, cleaning up tables, dealing with food being rejected by customers.etc...... I've never experienced anything like it in my life! We won't be back and definitely don't recommend this restaurant. Even though we're 4mile away, won't be here again!

Didnt get in they said they were fully booked snd yet had been told we could go for just a drink so never got in

Been here in the past and was great. Since the menu change the food is no where near the same quality. Microwaved and re heat burgers in oven, chips tasted oven cooked and cheap. Was not worth the £75 we paid and will not be back

In for after show dinner, took over an hour to take our order, diners that came in same time as us had eaten and left and still our order had not been taken, we had to ask, our kids were fed up waiting as were we, food was okay once it arrived almost 2 hours after arriving, money taken off bill, but unfortunately first visit, last visit!

It has a really nice choice of burgers and the loaded fries are excellent!

Well what can I say, ordered Chilli Nachos for pick up, went to collect 5 minutes after slotted time as app was not updating, was greeted with a member of staff and she said "is that all you have ordered" in a downward tone and told app not working and to come back in 10 mins (I appreciated that they were busy). Went back 10 mins later, order was stone cold and smothered in barbecue sauce 🤮, this is not on the menu. Meal ruined - never again.

We booked a table for two in advance. We had tickets to a show later in the evening, so we gave ourselves 1.5 hours for a main and a drink to ensure we had the time we needed. We expected the place to be very busy, so we looked up the menu the morning of our visit to ensure we were prepared and could be quick. We arrived in time and were quickly seated. The restaurant itself was very cramped so much so that I could hear the chewing of the gentleman at the table next to me. We were advised that they were short staffed and there were only two people in front-of house. We were then handed an A4 sheet of paper, also advising that they were understaffed and advising that they were operating on a limited menu. Also, they were changing wine suppliers. Therefore, they had a very limited supply. Also, their draft machine was broken, so any beer would be in bottles. None of this information was conveyed to us on the day of the booking or on the website so we could make alternative plans or be prepared. The menu was less than a quarter of what was showing on the website, and none of the items we had planned on ordering were now being served, so that was a waste of time. The members of staff who seated us never offered to take our drink order, so we were unsure if it was table service or order at the bar. After 15 minutes or waiting, we asked a passing staff member if we should order at the bar. She again told us they were short staffed and someone would be with us soon. (We didn't complain or act rudely. We actually wanted to make sure WE weren't making a mistake) After then seeing another couple arrive, be seated, have their drink AND food order taken, we were concerned about being finished in time for our show. One of our party had to approach the bar and ask if we could order as we had a finite amount of time. We were then allowed to order our 2 pepsis, cheese pizza and chicken, and chips. We received our drink orders very quickly after we ordered... then another staff member arrived with the same drinks order as it seemed that it had not been communicated which of the two staff members were fulfilling drink orders. We received our food 50 minutes after arriving. The fried chicken and sweet potato fries were delicious and great sized portion. The undercooked margarita pizza that cost approx £14 was reminiscent of most supermarket fridge pizzas. The whole time we were waiting on our meals, the tables on either side of us were trying to find someone to ask for the bill. After one table decided to give in and approach the bar to pay so they could leave, we decided to grab a passing staff member (a different one) and asked if we could have the bill when our food arrived. She responded by saying, "Oh please don't dine and dash! We've been short staffed" still unsure if this was a joke or a very real issue they had been having that night. When the bill arrived, the other table that had been trying to pay for about 15 minutes and was already eating when we arrived was able to request the bill. At this point, we only had 10 minutes before our show, so we just walked up to the bar and asked to pay as we could not afford to wait. We were once again advised that they were short staffed.

Been to Monterey Jacks many times. Food is always amazing and hot. Portions are huge and full of flavour. Burgers and amazing and the chicken and Mac is a great dish, saw a lot of people order that when I was in also. Great place to go before a show too, but booking is a must to guarantee a table. Staff are amazing, friendly and reliable and do absolutely anything for you. Would 100% recommend!

We have waited an hour 1/2 for food and still nothing. We had to leave as had a show Hungry

I had a very frustrating experience with this restaurant. Their Facebook page said they were closed for done in, but open for collection. I ordered and my money was taken, but when we arrived to collect the food it was completely closed and no one was answering the phone. We'd provided a number and email with the order but it took me messaging them on Facebook before they got in touch with us to say their chef was ill and they would refund us the food. The person on the phone was very apologetic that we'd travelled some distance for collection and promised he'd send a £20 voucher as compensation - this seemed reasonable and stuff happens so I accepted that. However, despite following up with the restaurant no voucher has ever been sent to me, this was clearly just said to fob me off. We did get our money for the food refunded but I'm pretty unimpressed by the customer service and the fact that they continued taking order that they couldn't fulfill.

Excellent customer service, great vegan options

If I could score this place zero stars I would. Service was a joke. No beer either on draft or bottles and we then waited over 40 minutes for our food at which point no drinks had arrived. We then left. The staff had no clue what they were doing. This place needs shut down!!

Pretty good, Fairly expensive for its distance from edinburgh. Burgers were smaller than expected :)

Really rude service because we hadn't booked and turned two families away despite the website saying they didn't take bookings but then seated a couple as we were leaving. Guy on the bar looked stressed and grumpy. So disappointed and spoiled a nice day at Braemar.

Very bad food, worst service, a real nightmare

Not as good as Glasgow. Bit tight for wheelchair access. Was not able to order salad which disrupted one of our meal choices. Child menu is great for small eaters. Found benches to be too high for comfort even after removing foam cushion, music was loud (with swearing) which meant some of our group struggled to hear each other / waitress

Flies went into my wine, so many of them. Was waiting for my main food for ages and food prices are ripped off. However staffs who service foods are lovely and can tell they are working hard.

Burgers are an absolute treat no matter which one you order and the service is really nice too. No issues with the place only good things !!!

I’ve been here a couple of times and it has always been a pleasant experience but not this time. I ordered a Korean BBQ and Kimchi chicken bagel. I don’t know why restaurants insist on using chicken strips when serving a sandwich, it’s futile and nonsensical. Anyways, the bagel came through smothered in sauce, chicken and lettuce. First bite and I could tell that something is wrong with this place. That’s when I realised I paid 20 quid for a chicken bagel that was just “okay”. I even told the guy who served me, and he said “at least I’m glad it was okay”. It’s been 10 minutes since I left and now I’m writing this review, thinking about my life choices.

We went there (group of 5) on Saturday afternoon, and there was one person who served food,made and served drinks. 5* for waitress (Pat) very welcoming and friendly. The place was busy,but she managed very well,we didn't wait long for our orders. Food and cocktails were delicious.

Can't comment on how the food was as its was never made for us. Ordered £90 worth of food for collection on Sunday 23rd. Went to collect to be told that they 'can't make the order as run out of beef and they can't do refunds' have contacted customer services and the form online with no response. Take the money and no goods.

Not cheap but quite good ! We had a good time

Food was okay, but not nothing to write home about. I had a chicken burger, missus had vegan nachos, they were pretty poor for the price.

Ate here last night and as always very good quality food and service despite being busy with only 1 guy in kitchen and 1 girl front of house. Place looks better with refurb, new seating and decor. Just hope next time we go back the freezer had found it’s way back where it was before and not in lower mezzanine, looks awful. Will be back soon as long as you keep the lovely staff

Came in on a Saturday and the poor staff were run ragged. We had an awesome meal and incredible drinks. Service was great and all staff so friendly. Well done guys! Nachos are definitely for sharing! 🤣

Went there before a show at the theatre next door. Food was amazing and the cocktails were fab too. They were short staffed but made us aware when we arrived and despite this everything looked like it was running flawlessly! Great staff and amazing place to visit!

I really can’t recommend this place enough. The food and cocktails were stunning. All 6 of us will be back soon. Plus amazing customer service from our waitress and barman, they were a right laugh and made the night that bit better. Thanks again guys

Haven't been for a few years, and we were a bit underwhelmed. When you're paying £15 or so for a burger & and chips, you hope to be a bit "blown away." It was a wee bit like the pictures at McDonalds of big juicy burgers only to receive a flat object. These are all described well and came out a bit flat and uninspiring. We ordered 'atomic chips' which again sounded tasty with chilli and jalapeño. When brought out, we had the wrong chips. They were back with seconds however the 'atomic chips' difference appeared to be a shake of chilli powder and scattered jalapeño. Not the most inspiring. The staff servers were lovely and had no issues with how the place looks or is set up. Just an overall feeling it could do better.

A cosy little eatery with a really diverse range of grill style grub. Quirky menu and friendly staff, I was in love with the choice of ‘dawgs’. Plumped for the Indiana Jones and Raiders of the Lost Pork for some extra pig action, bacons and pulled pork. Really tasty and thoroughly filling. Thoroughly recommended.

Highly recommend! Just got home from intensive care. Had not eaten in some time. These guys especially the manager or whatever position he held went above and beyond to ensure l found something I could eat that was agreeing with the cocktail of meds. Apart from the food being to a high standard the staff caring ways was commendable to make a difference in a difficult position. Than you so much.

1st visit but it won't be my last. 4 friends out for lunch. Food was delicious, staff attentive and very clean. Prices were very reasonable as the portion size was more than adequate!

Went there for lunch with a work mate. I was abit underwhelmed at first hearing the radio advert. Makes the place sound so much bigger and better. The place could do with a wee refurb. The toilet situe wasn't the greatest being one single toilet. Especially with the seating inside and out can't imagine it being enough. The kitchen also looked abit crammed. But giving that the food made up for it all. We got two burgers and wow so tasty the chips where cooked to perfection. The side sauce was tasty. The staff were super friendly. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone but I would check if they are busy first Especially when the theater running show.

I visit MJ’s whenever I’m in Dunfermline and it is always a 5-star experience. The barman Callum is beyond attentive and we always feel very welcome. The food menu has lots of really good veggie / vegan options and the cocktails are amazing. I’ll definitely be back. Need to get that root beer aff the menu though 🤢

Not too shabby like. Decor is cool, I like the vibe. Food was a bit pish, not the cooking it's self that was class, just the products they get in could be better, not the chefs fault though is it. Our server was a lovely chap, Callum I think his name was. Great service and had a long chat about music which was very wholesome and welcoming and that alone would make me come back regularly. Pints were a bit steep too but that's what you get for buying a pint first thing in the morning! MON THE BIFF x

This place is brilliant. We ate here before seeing a show at the Alhambra theatre right next door. The burger I had was out of this world! The staff were friendly, and accommodating, and nothing was too much hassle. The decor inside feels rustic, but contemporary, and the hushed glow of the lighting lends itself to an intimate and cosy night in, but there is also a great sense of vibrancy that seems to just top the atmosphere off perfectly. The menu had something for everyone, and the cocktails went down an absolute treat. Without a doubt, this restaurant is something different and unique. The clientele was a very eclectic bag of patrons from all ages, and I liked that it had such a good mix of people who were clearly all enjoying themselves. Can't wait to go back next week before attending the Alhambra for yet another show. Seriously, you won't be disappointed! It's a win for me...😎
