Rogue in Fife

Lovely bar/restaurant. Service let it down. We went in only for drinks & was placed at a table across from the bar. But felt invisible, took quite a while for our drinks order to be taken and then even longer for them to arrive. I had to go to the twice to ask for service. Would go back but was quite disheartened by the experience. The waitresses were all polite.

I am leaving the comment as I finished my dish. It was absolutely delicious (the belly pork that I ordered). We also ordered burgers that were really tasty. We were quite in a rush and we got served quite quickly ! I recommend the meat 100% !

Food was great as was the service. Very friendly and accomodating. Bone Marrow and Ox Cheek starter was tremendous. 36 ounce Porterhouse cooked ti perfection. Is pricey but down to location. Definately be back.

Food was very good although the crushed mash was only warm ..The poor quality of wine by the glass. let the whole experience down ..We met three service staff and the service was mixed . The chap was chatty and pleasant whilst the women directing operations was a little short

Unfortunately I asked for my steak medium-rare, not bloody but not brown. The steak I received was brown all the way through. I then had to wait for them to cook another steak meaning I wasn't eating until an hour after arriving (it was a 2030 booking and relatively quiet). It also looked liked they had re-fried the chips to reheat them resulting in really crunchy chips. When I had finished it took some time for the staff to come over and clear my table as they were behind the bar having audible personal conversations. I was not compensated for the delay with my food due to cooking the steak incorrectly. Overall it was an overpriced and underwhelming Fillet. I wouldn't recommend the customer service here or the quality of the food as you can get better for cheaper elsewhere in St Andrews.

Rogue is a high quality meat-based restaurant right in town. I’ve been twice now and both times impressed by the food, both seafood and meats. There is a high price tag attached as a result of the location and food, though my issue with this is the service. The staff wear hoodies and tights, coming in with a just rolled out of bed look and attitude. It does not match the rest of the restaurant, which is a real shame and thus undeserving of the 20% service charge.

Wonderful oysters to start. Lamb rump and sea bass were both wonderful.

Service was friendly and attentive. Food was amazing. The big porterhouse was perfectly prepared. Highly recommended.

This was the meal I had been hoping for all week. I noticed this restaurant while I was visiting Munch next door for the 5th day on the bounce. It didn't disappoint. The oysters were amazing. The bread and salted butter tasted delish. The steak for 2 with chips and broccoli was exquisite. My daughter had a half lobster for the 1st time ever and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our waitress was excellent as was the pace of the experience. 100% recommend this place. For me it was the best fine dining experience in town

The DOORS came off (the oven) but they still upsold sharing steaks A restaurant with great potential, just nobody with the sense to stop selling items they could not deliver!! A great start with my favourite cocktail, nicely served but there was an early hint of troubles in the kitchen. We were told croquettes were off the list of starters due to unspecified problems in the kitchen but the board of sharing steaks was strongly pushed. Not wanting to have meat and meat we shared nice olives & passable corn ribs. Our chateaubriand (ordered medium/rare) was delivered with staff making a rapid exit. Was this a ploy to get away with serving grossly overcooked steak? I expect it was. We were served overcooked but cold meat as were our sauces and sides! As soon as I questioned the awful fare delivered the senior server claimed she'd just been told about the problem. That's curious as I knew an hour before when we were given the menu & limitations in the kitchen. Also to be told there would be significant wait for alternative steak just compounded the lack of agility when the wheels(doors) had come off service! I don't want to be comped for cold, over cooked average fare, I'd really like to be paying £200+ for a rated experience. I'm also angry 1) at my time being wasted, why not say sharing plates are off when taking the order 2) dropping off poor fare and hoping the customer would not query

The customer service was excellent, 10/10, and the food was very filling—we couldn't even finish it! 😍 However, the margarita hoodlum cocktail was disappointing. We ordered the same thing twice, but the taste was different each time. The last margarita hoodlum cocktail was too peppery. They need to be consistent with their cocktail recipes.

absolut fabulous dinner! very nice location, super friendly staff, excellent food+drinks. the absolute highlight: the beef carpaccio! had a lot of them, but never better than the one at Rogue! highly recommended!

We were recommended Rogue by a friend and what a great choice it was Reservation online was easy and we were warmly welcomed when we arrived and shown to a great table The choice of dishes was very good and our server Ella was on hand to answer any questions Both of our steaks were lovely and accompanied by great sauces and sides The whole evening was great and we look forward to returning

Lovely restaurant with delicious food. Mains of steak, lobster and pork belly all enjoyed by the family. Will visit again the next time we’re in St Andrews.

Ate here for the first time and would definitely go back. Nice atmosphere, good service, great menu choice and the food was excellent. The wine list was decent too and all in all a great find!

This restaurant could be v good but needs to get things right. Staff are friendly ina superficial way it are not genuinely happy to serve you,, a couple stand out as being particularly poor although the local girl is very good. Starters were very good, but the mains were not great. They price themselves as high end - £28 for a pretty average curry, £28 for sea bass that was okay but under- whelming and the fillet steak was good, but nothing special for £42. I don’t mind paying but the produce should sing. The wine list is okay but lacks depth and isn’t particularly interesting- there is a lot of v cheap wine. That is out of kilter with the food pricing. Lastly, but not least, we were seated right next to the front door on a cold wet evening. Thankfully. We had jumpers. But it did detract from the evening particularly when people were waiting with the door open waiting for taxis. Overall, we had an okay evening- just over £210 for 3 people without dessert and only a £36 bottle of wine. I could have given 2 stars but think it has potential, but needs a lot of work.

A really nice restaurant with very friendly and helpful staff. The food we ordered was somewhat pricy though was well prepared and cooked, but no Wow factor! An adequate wine list, perhaps a little overpriced for what was listed, however the atmosphere was pleasant and we enjoyed our evening.

This place is lovely. Warm and welcoming. Staff are very attentive. However, it is the food that beckons our return. I had the crispy pork, which was delicious and cooked to perfection. My family opted for sirloin and filet steaks, again cooked well, and to their liking. A bit on the pricey side for lunch, but well worth it.

Another visit, another amazing meal !we nipped up to St Andrews ,for a late lunch and after our previous visit we decided that rogue would be perfect , the service is top class -non pretentious , friendly and on point , the food is absolutely increadable , I had the beef dumplings for starter my missus had the scallops she said the best she’s ever tasted , we both tried the burger for main which was awesome , and a hearty plate , we shared a pudding and yes as again beautiful plate of food , I won the coin toss for designated driver so I had a few pint of beer too -great line up at bar btw the prices are very reasonably . To sum it up and it’s only my opinion I think this place is up there with the best in Fife if not wider and I don’t say that lightly , we will return yet again rogue thank you!

A thoroughly enjoyable meal. Staff were attentive and helpful and knew about the dishes on the menu. My husband had the beef carpaccio and it was delicious! The monkfish curry was full of clean flavours and the fish cooked beautifully. My husbands steak was cooked exactly as ordered - the whole meal was just delicious!

Third visit to Rogue and yet to disappoint. Lovely ambience, good service and excellent food all combine for a first class experience. One of the best (if not the best) in St Andrews.

Excellent food. The steaks were absolutely superb, which were complemented with a good bottle of wine. Despite the restaurant being very busy, the waiting staff were excellent and attentive. Would recommend a visit.

The food was good (especially the scallops) although the crispy pork was not crispy and quite fatty. The cocktails were a complete disappointment (even after one was remade), and we were wondering whether there was any alcohol (or any of the advertised ingredients) in them.

Excellent evening, lovely meal and service was excellent. My RibEye steak was cooked to perfection and the Oysters to start were fantastic. All in all a very pleasant evening in great surroundings.

Me and my partner went for her birthday, food everything was excellent, however sadly the scallops made her very ill , these things can happen and overall was an excellent restaurant and would go agsin

The huge helping of Cullen Skink was creamy and crammed full of fresh smoked fish. We shared aged Cotes de beauf - very tender and tasty. Our friendly, knowledgeable host provided perfect service. The young staff are setting a high standard.

It's a really cozy, quite and cool place to drink and eat. Menu and wines are delicious. They have tasty pasteries. I visited the place to celebrate my friend birthday and they treat us very well. I will definitely visit the place soon.

This restaurant literally deep fries everything in the same old stale and used oil. £15 for a tiny scallops that only tasted like the oil they were deep fried in. Same for beef balls; very small portions and deep fried… so basically everything in this restaurant tastes the same because of the deep frying of all dishes. Not boutique at all. Save yourself £135 and just get cheap Chinese takeout for £20 instead. Literally no difference in quantity and in fact the £20 Chinese takeout might even taste better.

We go to Rouge often and have always have a great meal, this was no different…except my husband’s order was never put in and he ended up eating his dinner as we finished. Rouge did the right thing and didn’t charge us for his meal....

Been to Rogue twice and both times it was great. The steak is so flavourful, I've tried a few of their cuts and all were very good. They have a nice sear and are well seasoned. It is more expensive than other places in st andrews but for the quality of steak you get I would say it's very reasonably priced. I've tried the oysters and some of the cocktails too and they were very good as well.

My wife had heard really good things about Rogue, so when we were on holiday in the area we would treat ourselves to lunch. We wish we hadn’t as the service was mediocre and the food below par - And had a nicer pint and toasty in the Railway in at Lower Largo, and the barmaid was funny and friendly. My burger, which came in a two day old morning roll, was unseasoned and my wives chicken burger was bland - also served in a stale morning roll. I did email the Rogue team to feed this back to them, but still not heard anything. NEVER AGAIN will I visit this overpriced restaurant.

Absolutely loved this place, I had their oysters and they are amazing, the service quality was perfect and our server was very nice and smiley, I throughly enjoyed my time there, very nice bathrooms, good wine selection as well as food. Very nice vibe all the food is fresh and for a fair price I 100% recommend this restaurant to anyone who comes to St Andrews

Food was of an extremely high standard, the portions were generous. I had a steak which was cooked perfectly and my wife went for the half lobster which was reasonably priced given its size and tasted fantastic They had a good selection of drinks and their alcohol free cocktails were surprisingly good Would definitely go back

We were there yesterday , the smell of raw meat near the fridge was really disgusting , our table was exactly close to it . The atmosphere and smell was terrible, the service wasn't good. I asked for trufe for side he didn't even know about it and one of the customer said mushroom with cheese but he brought chips with cheese , he did really confused me, i never asked for chips , unfortunately the restaurant near the beach was closed so we found this by accidentally I told my husband we shouldn't go there , we were really unhappy the quality of food wasn't good .I would never go back there again at all 🤮🤮😧😵‍💫

Good food and drink - fab service. Went with friends and had a variety of dishes, all excellent but special praise for my monkfish Thai curry. On a hot, muggy day this place was cool inside in every sense 👍

Was initially sat out in a back space away from main restaurant dingy and depressing and was re seated after complaining . Meals VERY AVERAGE . White wine we asked for NOT available. Red wine we ordered NOT available STEAK. over cooked BURGER basic LOBSTER okay however was advertised on menu with sanfire and salad but arrived without any in at all . Staff failed to even mention it. And told it wasn't available ( pattern here) Waitress was very pleasant but a little embarrassed . On the whole NOT A GREAT EXPERIENCE. in what was a much anticipated friendship reunion after 21 years Managment needs to manage .

A really classy dining experience for a surprisingly low price. Go for the steak and get the olives starter which is fabulous. Not sure how much some of the sauces added to the steak though. Cocktails were also nice and staff were all lovely. Would highly recommend.

Superb not cheap but excellent quality food fresh and an expansive menu could have eaten the lot. Chateau Briand cooked rare by a chef who knows how to cook and rest such fine quality meat. The cheese platter was also superb. Thankyou for such an excellent evening.

Had a very nice time here for a family meal. The food was delicious, we had steak burgers, sirloin steak and haddock, all cooked beautifully and cleaned plates. Desserts were also tasty. A couple of negative points - we ordered ale which was off, then a bottled beer which was also not available. And the server was very overworked - plates weren’t cleared between courses, had to ask for cutlery and napkins. General ambience was buzzy and comfortable. Would definitely go again.

Dined here last night for on of our honeymoon meals whilst in St Andrews over the weekend. We were sat at a lovely booth table at the front of the restaurant. We enjoyed oysters, beef skewers, burger and fish and chips. All absolutely superb. The nicest batter I have ever had. My husband really enjoyed his burger. Great cocktails and the waiting staff were superb. Would definitely return.

Food was great. Feel that the “Lobster Risotto” was a bit of false advertising thus the three stars. It was instead a Lobster Bisque Risotto with pieces of crayfish (crawfish). The menu description doesn’t mention the crawfish and certainly no mention that it’s lobster bisque vs lobster.

Amazing! Best steak burger I ever had, so tender, juicy and crispy. You have to try it! The mussels in white sauce are absolutely fantastic, make sure you order a spoon to enjoy the sauce unless you prefer to use the shells. The Ayrshire Pork Tomahawk was fab too. Wine selection, service and ambiance was lovely too. This gem deserves 5 stars! Thanks for the love! Hope I can come back.

If your skin colour is slightly different than them then please don’t go there. Staff was not at all helpful and there was discrimination throughout. I regret going there for my birthday party. We were given the corner table near the door, it was so cold no heater nothing the door was opening so many times. Not comfortable at all. Although we asked them thrice for table change but the staff was least interested and really very rude and discriminated us. I felt really uncomfortable and NEVER ever gonna visit that place again. Although the 1 star is for Chef and the food. The food was really good but the staff sadly really not expected. I had spent £186 for the table but the experience given was really pathetic.

Service - ⭐ Food - ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Atmosphere - ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Waited just over an hour for food after ordering despite the restaurant being mostly quiet. Sat in a seat just across from the plating area of the kitchen, so had a direct view of the plating process. As someone with a nut allergy (this was previously mentioned to the waitress and on our booking notes), it is expected that extra precautions will be taken in the kitchen to avoid cross-contamination where possible as this is a possibly life-threatening situation. From my viewpoint, I could see the chef handling raw ingredients with his bare hands (including peanuts) and not washing hands for the entire time. This is a potentially deadly and incredibly lazy workplace practice and I hope that this changes going forward - LIVES ARE AT RISK IF THIS CONTINUES. Ordered flat iron with beef dripping cooked chips and peppercorn sauce, steak burger and buttered greens. Burger was satisfactory, greens were simple but done well and flat iron was slightly under seasoned and unevenly cooked. Wine was an excellent pairing with the steak. Decor and general atmosphere was cozy and relaxed - a job well done. Overall, a mixed experience with the potential to be something great.

Popped in without a reservation while in the area and they were able to fit me in. Great service and great food. Highly recommend and look forward to returning when next in the area.

Granted we were a party of 8 but it was a slow sunday afternoon and only 2 other tables with guests are there, we had to wait for an hour to get our food ready.

Lovely restaurant in St Andrews. Had a delicious fillet steak main and partner said the fish was equally delicious. Great wine selection and a lovely Balvenie malt to finish. Staff were lovely and very attentive. Recommend Rogue 👍

Fun place on a Saturday night. Food was very tasty. Service on a busy night was slightly haphazard but we were catching up with friends so conversation flowed during the gaps. Friendly staff.

Stopped in for early Saturday dinner after lovely walk around the town of St Andrews. Prompt and friendly service. Delicious food, very reasonably priced. Battered haddock was so fresh. Steak burger excellent, as were dirty fries. Tomogawk pork chop was thoroughly enjoyed. Nice choice of beers, wines and spirits. Well worth a visit, may need advance booking.

It’s hard to put three stars as the food tasted so good, but eating at many a steak specialty restaurant, the quantity just wasn’t there. Staff were incredible, but the 16oz chateaubriand was not the “large front cut filet of tenderloin grilled between two lesser pieces of meat which are discarded after cooking. In fact it came more like an 7/10oz steak cut up, which left us feeling overcharged and lacking in volumes. We left still rather hungry. Great staff, great taste, very quantity, that included the starter which was also unsubstantial.. £75 for a steak for one person that should of been for two.. Will not be going back as tasty as it was.

Pretty speechless by the time I left, this place feels like a hidden gem within St. Andrews. I can only comment on the perfect evening with my girlfriend! It started with lovely drinks followed by the tastiest scallops with a tomato salsa which arrived with smiles from the very friendly staff. Steaks next - They were truly incredible, with a glass of red I felt like I’d landed in culinary heaven!! A massive thank you to the staff & Ricky the manager who made it even more special by recommending some after dinner whiskey, which I throughly indulged in.

Really mixed bag last night at Rogue. I’ve now been twice- the first time was fantastic. This made it an easy choice for my 30th birthday last night. However, it wasn’t quite as expected. No music playing where we were sitting which created a weird, stifled atmosphere and confused/slow service (cutlery not on the table 10 mins after our reservation time, steak knives arriving after our fillets creating an uncomfortable wait, my birthday cake came with candle unlit and no cutlery- just a ‘where do you want it’ uttered by staff) and my bearnaise was stone cold and clumpy on arrival rather than warm, smooth and buttery. The staff said it had been a long night and I wanted my guests to enjoy themselves, so I decided not to add to the stress and remained quiet about these issues. The steaks were great as normal, but the experience really lacked.

Best steak in St Andrews, the best steaks I ever had across multiple restaurants in multiple cities. -1 star for being inconsistent, occasionally (especially after busy periods of time) they would have below subpar steaks. I am not sure if this is because they ran out of meat is using less aged beef than usual or if it is because their usual chief is taking a break or something else.

Had the steak plater consisting of rump, sirloin and ribeye with 3 veg and sauces. Nice meal but spoilt being seated too close the door. Cold with customer traffic coming and going. Avoid this table if you can.

Probably one of the best surprises we had for dinner. We were staying two minutes from Rogue made a reservation and had one of the best dinners on our 10 day trip. The steak was better than Chef Gordon's Bread Street, the seafood really was prepared excellent, and the deserts are a must. Not to mention, they make a great old fashioned. If you get a chance, go back and look at their kitchen... It's as basic as it could be and they are cranking out gems.

She says: So this place was friendly, the food was good and we had a nice time. I wanted to give a good review for our 22oz Porterhouse despite still feeling hungry at the end of it....there was nothing wrong with it but we should have ordered more for two big eaters that like their grub. It was £70 for the Porterhouse, 2 sides and 2 sauces. Cheeseboard was amazing as a desert, and a great portion. Saw other customers asking to see the meat options before choosing .. .should have done that! He says, food was OK. Sides were average, red wine jus was more beef than red wine. Porterhouse beef was cooked to order (medium rare) and really tasty. Was it worth the £70? Probably not. Been to other restaurants that offer more for less.

Reservation for dinner. Was really fantastic and enjoyed it thoroughly.

Good food, Good Service, Great libations and an extremely accommodating staff made this a wonderful evening. Their menu had something for each of the 12 tastes in our group and no-one went home hungry! Well worth the effort to get yourself here!

Excellent! We had the flat iron steak, dry-aged steak burger, and a plate of bread and olives (the whipped blue cheese was absolutely divine!) to share. Every bite of food was a mindblowing burst of flavour, combined with a nice ambience and friendly service. Would definitely come back.

My advice BOOK TABLE EARLY . they might not have basics after 8pm. Curtailed menu because of graduation menu . Looked fine but when we ordered starter of walnut, feta and pear salad it was not available. staple ingredients Yes/No Main course to be fair was very good good. Choice of dessert was reduced to two. Mixed ice cream . Offering Vanilla ,Strawberry and Chocolate. Alas no chocolate . Another staple lacking. The remaining choice was mille-feuille with fresh fruit. Or maybe as is fashionable "deconstructed" mille-feuille. Two piles of unappetising filo pastry surrounded by the fruit with the tiniest portion of "creme patisserie". Most disappointing. The splendid drinks menu failed to supply the lady's choice of rose ( nero d'avola). Whilst recognising that staff shortages abound in the catering industry I must also mention that basic serving skills were sadly lacking. Plates served diagonally across tables relying on customers to reach to serve themselves despite plenty of room to serve from beside the customer.
