Literally one of my top 2 Mediterranean restaurants. Would definitely recommend the lamb ribs with rice 😋 and they have nice cocktails too

Fantastic authentic Mediterranean food in a wonderfully vibrant setting! La Rocca was buzzing when we visited, creating a really lively and enjoyable atmosphere. We started with the Meat Grill Tasting Platter, and it was absolutely superb. Genuinely substantial, packed with a varied selection of quality hot and cold meats, vegetables, salads and more – very nice indeed and perfect for sharing! Service was friendly and efficient too. A great find in East Grinstead, highly recommended!

So, I have been here many times since it first opened. The first time I went here I would have given a rating of 5+ if I could. The food was excellent quality, the service outstanding and the ambience on point. While it isn't a cheap place, it has always been affordable and the quality was typically consistent. It was easy to see how this place is always pretty busy. However, over the last 6-12 months in particular I have noticed the high standards slip. Whether this is complacency, due to shortcuts, or whether I have been unlucky I am not sure. In either case, I have walked away more often than not a little disappointed. I have found the previous superb lamb shish to be horrendously tough (more than once). I have had to ask for cutlery. I have had to ask for chilli sauce, which hasn't arrived on the second time of asking. The music has been too loud to make it easy to converse. The manager has always been outstanding, and still is. However, some of the staff (not all) clearly look like they would rather be somewhere else. I feel a little reluctant to write a negative review, as on the whole over the entire period it has been in East Grinstead, Rocca has been a fantastic addition and what was needed when Nizam vacated the premises; a prime site in the historic part of town. Yet it hasn't been an isolated incident and talking to other people from town, it isn't just me that has noticed the standards slipping. Hopefully, it is a blip and it improves, as it has always been my first choice when considering a meal out. Therefore, my rating at present is average.

Went to ROCCA for my wife’s 50th Birthday as she lives the place, the food was impeccable as always and the service was second to none! When booking I noted it was my wife’s birthday and they brought out complimentary desert with a candle and sang Happy Birthday. This was the perfect and to a great meal, highly recommend visiting.

We just ordered mains as we were going to see a show giving us lots of time. However after many chasing on the food it took 50 minutes to reach our table which meant we had to rush our food. Very poor. Food was ok nothing special not worth the wait!!

What a lovely lunch we had at Roccas... We chose the lunchtime special 2 course £13.95. 1st time I'd chosen off the menu I had the halloumi starter and veg moussaka, and my friend had white bait and sea bass fillet All were cooked very well, incredibly tasty and to the same level as my times coming in for evening service The staff were attentive and polite, and the atmosphere was really pleasurable Looking forward to seeing you soon (table booked in readiness) All the best Kevin 😊

Wonderful foof and non alcholic cocktail.

This is one of our favourites now . We've had three evenings out here now and there will be plenty more in the future. The meat is cooked perfectly and along with the other dishes , makes for a delicious meal . The restaurant has a great vibe to it , makes you feel like you're away on holiday.

Excellent service, excellent food great value for money

Superb! From location to ambience to food to servers, I enjoyed everything. Set within the historic area, I had a quick tutorial from my excellent server; this went well with my plethora of food: vegetarian moussaka with rice and salad. I had enough leftovers for another two meals. All in all a delightful visit!

Frustrating. The food is very good and reasonably priced, no complaint there. However, the music was sufficiently loud that it made conversation difficult; and the lighting so poor - "atmosphere", I guess - that nobody could read the menu. I ordered sea bass - there are a lot of bones in sea bass. You can guess how that went. Pro tips: Take a torch - seriously; and think twice about ordering the delicious sea bass.

Had a great meal with friends , food was fantastic and service was really good , Everybody were friendly and happy in their work. But, the music was too loud and it was a real struggle to have a conversation.

I cannot believe I’ve never had the pleasure of dining here before when it was just up the road this whole time! We ordered the Mixed grill and it was absolutely delicious. It was a Saturday so was packed but this did not effect the quality of service, which I found impressive. Friendly and efficient service did not go unnoticed. Lovely atmosphere in an old Tudor style building with great vibes. Also I need to note that my kids are adamantly against eating lamb but they devoured the lamb and barely left any for me - it was grilled to perfection. We will definitely be back. Thank you Rocca!

It is, or was on a Saturday night, crowded and noisy. Not the place for a romantic dinner or much conversation. The emphasis is on quantity with big portions but the quality us also fairly good.

A welcoming, friendly atmosphere with amazing helpful staff and a first class service. The food was plentiful, well presented and tasted amazing along with a great selection of wines (reasonably priced too). A superb evening, will definitely be returning and trying the cocktails next time...

Dining in is always very pleasant at Rocco so I tried a takeaway for just one. What a joy it was. Fresh, hot and tasty. Really enjoyable.

Harrison a young waiter just starting out was very attractive to my gluten free needs, always awkward to fuss about my dietary requirements, Harrison make sure I had everything I needed. The manager was also great and there when we needed him.

Ordered octopus, it was over cooked so I didn’t eat half of it. Waiter asked me why I wasn’t eating it and I politely said that it was a bit over cooked, they behaved like it was my fault. I didn’t ask for any refund or concession as this should have been automatic. Instead Rocco gets this bad review.

First time at Rocca. So friendly. Food was excellent. The fish sharer was beautifully presented which included the starter. Chicken was very tender with no dryness. Creamy mushroom starter was really good. All in all a good experience. The bill was very reasonable at £35 a head which included 4 beers, a shot of lemon liqueur, glass of red and 4 cokes.

Went for a meal with my husband,we had the shared hot starter which was £18 ,we felt this was not value for money. One prawn and on calamari ring each and a pile of the cheapest ingredient ,whitebait. Main was just ok pretty underwhelming, due to the menu having very small print and the restaurant being quite dark couldn’t really see the menu so ordered what we could read. Service good and nice atmosphere.

What a magnificent spot! We were referred to this delightful and vibey restaurant, and it was fabulous. Great welcome, superb service, great atmosphere and the food is just the best. Perfectly grilled salmon, and crispy, tasty lamb ribs all grilled on the open fire. The sides were also great and the baklava…… yoh! Congratulations though the lovely team at Rocca!

Always a pleasure popping in for a bite to eat or a drink at this stylish restaurant. staff always a delight and friendly and a great looking team. I’ve never had a bad dish highly recommend this establishment for lunch evening meals with friends and family they do a great lunch menu too and I recommend calamari and the liver very Tasty. Great chefs to!

I figured I may as well start this while I’m still sat at the table since we’ve been waiting over an hour for food, not a great start. Not to mention we stood waiting for 10 min to even be noticed let alone seated. So we’re back home after that shocking ordeal, let me start by saying I’ve been here numerous times before & it’s always been mediocre, but decent enough to return. This time was terrible, wait times were insane, there was an issue with the order apparently which meant the kitchen never even started the food, but we weren’t made aware of this until we mentioned the wait time at the end. Atmosphere is okay, music is very repetitive, almost like elevator music & a little too loud, plus it is definitely far too dark in some parts of the restaurant. The food is okay, but portions certainly lack & now that the prices have gone up, it’s without a doubt over priced, in comparison to the quality. The attentiveness & quality of staff seems to depend on whether they’re having a good day or a bad day, but for the most part they’re pretty cold, blunt & autonomous. They offer a cocktail menu which has good choice, but god forbid you ask to change a spirit or mixer in the cocktail, the “mixologist” is incapable, as in his words “that sounds very difficult” All in all, if you don’t really care about where you spend your money & just want to fill a void in your gut then pop in, but I recommend going at an off peak time where you’re likely to have a better experience.

A chaotic mess! Having had our order taken by one waitress, our starters arrived. After 5-10 minutes we then had 3 different waitresses coming to the table within 60 seconds to clear our starters because "our mains are ready". This was despite us clearly still eating the starters and them being half eaten. This made us feel very rushed. We wanted to eat the food we're paying for and not have it taken away because you've messed up the timing! Once the starters were cleared we were waiting for about 10 minutes for the mains to arrive...? Most of the meals were fine however one of our party ordered the grilled octopus and it was inedible. It was like a piece of tough rubber and it was not even possible to cut it. Having informed one of the waitresses to this, the solution to this was for the 4th waitress of the evening to bring a steak knife! Unbelievable! Having finally been informed of what was going on the manager came over to apologise and ask if there was something else we wanted, but we declined. The octopus was removed from the bill with a small discount and a free desert was sent to our table. This gesture made me give 2 stars instead of 1. What a mess and chaotic operation that is being run. I felt that if we had one dedicated waitress then most of our experience would have been better.

Such a mess! After ordering drinks the starters arrived pretty quickly, within 15 minutes of starting to eat 3 different waitresses came to ask whether they could take the plates away, while we were clearly still eating the food. We felt so rushed by different waiting staff hovering around the whole time. The waitresses were even touching up their make up behind the bar. Such a stressful experience! I then ordered the grilled octopus but it was so chewy it was impossible to cut with the knife and inedible. Will definitely not be going back!

Beautiful building, full of history I bet! The food was amazing. Although we’re vegetarian the selection was good and there was plenty to choose from. Baclava was crusty and fresh! Efes beer never disappoints! The staff were professional and friendly. Nothing was an issue. It’s a shame we’re not local!

We've been here over seven times, and each time has been a fantastic experience in terms of food, service, and atmosphere. The cuisine is fresh, and you can select from a range of dishes.

Always a good choice for an absolutely delicious dinner. Atmosphere is on point as with the food and service. One thing however the steak was cooked to a medium not medium rare as we asked hence 4 star for food. Servers are an absolute gem though

Came here for a treat as the reviews were so good, but was left massively disappointed. The atmosphere of the restaurant was very lively, which was fine, however the restaurant was so packed and they had crammed so many tables in that when you needed to get to go yo the toilet you pretty much had to sit on the table next to you’s lap to get past and the amount of times we had the waiters or waitresses bums next to our faces so they could get to tables. The service was awful, where is was so busy drinks took ages to order a drink and get anyone’s attention, then forever to get a drink, our starters were left on our table for nearly half an hour before they were taken away, when we go our mains my chicken we do overdone I couldn’t cut it, no one came to check on us whilst we were eating for me to say something and when they finally came to collect our plates nothing was said as to why my main had hardly been touched, at that long we wanted to the bill and to go, it took us to ask 3 different people to get the bill. This restaurant is beautiful, but its style over substance, maybe on a quieter night the service and food is better, on a better note although we waited forever for them, the cocktails were very good.

Deserves to be higher up the East Grinstead list on TripAdvisor….the food was delicious (huge portions), the Turkish wine we tried - very drinkable, the service was excellent, the place was buzzing - obviously a hit with the locals. Dishes were eclectic, but very tasty.

Honestly this is the worst review I have ever had to write. I have visited Rocca 4/5 times now, and the service only gets worse. The first time was a quiet night so everything was fine, quick service and good food. From there on out I have only faced the most unfriendly rude staff, over hour wait times just for one course, and food I'd ordered being forgotten about. Every table in my area was asked how everything is, except us. Every table was brought extra bread without asking, except us. Then when we asked for the bread, it was never brought. Every table had finished their starter, main, and desert, before we'd ever got our mains. After 55 minutes we asked how long our food would take, and a rude waitress replied 'it's coming out', not even an apology for the huge wait time. One waitress before came over to say I'll check on your order now, and then never came back. I'm also certain the manager was avoiding us knowing it was terrible service, as he checked on everyone else and brought their cheques personally, but again not ours. We were given free drinks after complaining so I suppose that's a plus, but does not excuse treating regular customers as a burden. The delay and treatment is just unacceptable, especially as we hadn't even ordered starters. Besides, even if the fish does take 40 minutes to grill for 'health and safety', what about the extra half an hour we waited? A third time I experienced this wait was on the birthday of a friend, with four of us total. Though we had booked we had a long wait for the table, and instead of being offered a seat at the bar or the option of drinks, we just had to stand around. When complaining on this occasion the manager refused free drinks, and instead offered one slice of desert, which we didn't even get to choose, cut into four slices. Real shame as the food is good, and pina coladas excellent. If you go in the week on a non-busy night, I'm sure you'll have an ok experience. Otherwise just avoid.

Had a truly memorable evening the other day celebrating my 70th birthday with my family. The service, food and staff are all great. Good portions, reasonable prices and friendly staff. What more could you want. Highly recommended

Our first time visiting Rocca after raving reviews from friends. The restaurant is in the most historic part of EG situated in one of the oldest buildings. The inside is atmospheric and staff are attentive and very welcoming. The cocktail menu is on another level with so many to chose from. Under £10 for a cocktail and the quantity and strength of them is generous. The main meal of the mix grill is probably the best meal I have eaten in any restaurant in EG. The portion was immense and the quality of meats on the plate was first class. My other half had the swordfish and again the portion size was very generous. It was cooked to perfection and very tasty. We could not sample the desserts as the main meal was so filling. We will be back to Rocca for another visit and bring our friends and family. Thank you to management and staff at this must go to restaurant in our hometown.

We were told that our take away order would be ready in 30 min. We arrived after 35 min. They asked to wait 5-10 min more. As a result we got our food after 1 hour!

One of the best restaurants I have had the pleasure to visit. The staff are friendly and efficient. The food is plentiful and tasty. Large potions - excellent value for money. Our party all enjoyed their meals. Baklava for dessert which was delicious, and the evening ended off with coffee & cream. A delightful evening. Highly Recommend this restaurant 👍🏻

It was very busy little slow in picking up when Ur ready to order but then sometimes I find some places way to fast so it’s better to feel not rushed the food was very well cooked all together very nice

I went to Rocca for the first time for a friend's birthday lunch and the food was absolutely amazing and the staff were the friendliest I've ever experienced in a restaurant. I had the prawn Guvec and it was gorgeous! I have already told my husband we are going back for my birthday next month (we don't live in EG unfortunately).

Service was a bit slow, food is good,only lager available at the bar, good selection of wines, good selection of spirits and cocktails. Down side after waitress dropped a tomato salsa on floor and splashing it all over my trousers I had no apology, when I asked for a cloth she just gave me a souviette.

Outstanding food, the portion sizes are like your Nan trying to fill you up and the level of the food is quite astonishing.

My first time at Rocca, several of our group have been two or more times. All the meals were absolutely ' spot on' and really good portions. I/We will be back 👌
