Robinsons Fish & Chips in Poole

Long winded service never anything ready . The man and wife are stuck in the past . Then when you get the foid the portions are like kids sizes never known any chippy to be this slow . Our hole site avoid the place for this reason

Brand new to the area, went looking for a decent fish and chip shop. I went in, explained that I always judge a place on their chips. I love a light crisp to the outside and soft and fluffy in the middle. To their credit, they let me try one which was nice of them. But the lady serving told me that all chip shop chips are soggy and if they are crispy then they are French fries. I explained that I really liked Harry Ramsdens chips which are fluffy on the inside and crisp on the outside but I was told this wasn't possible? I took a bite and the tips were nice and crisp but the inside was soggy, dense and oily/greasy. I was told that their chips are not oily because they drain them. (Basically told that I was lying about what I was tasting). Then she said no chips shop chips are crisp and fluffy. I replied, well you say that but there's a chip shop... and before I could finish my sentence, she said sarcastically "well perhaps you should go there then hey." I then finished my sentence and said in LONDON, where I'm originally from. I said that his secret was ground nut oil. To which she replied " we can't use that because a lot of customers have nut allergies." Which is fair enough. But I couldn't get past the "perhaps you should go there then hey," comment. Based on the service alone, I'll never be back there again. Shame because its now my local. The chip wasn't terrible, but the service was.

The best fish and chips 🍟 in the area.

I'm fairly new to the area, so have been visiting various fish and chip places looking for my new regular. Had a medium fish and chips, which were lovely, hot and of good quality; but let down by the chip portion size. Medium chips here are closer to a small elsewhere. Weird to scrimp on the cheaper part of the meal. If you want a normal medium meal, I recommend trying a large chips with the medium cod; otherwise the portion doesn't really cut it.

The worst chips I've had in a long time, they were soggy and pale probably not cooked in hot enough fat. The fish portion was tiny and expensive

Great food a bit slow with the service a lot of mucking around and not getting on with the work forgetting the people waiting can see and hear everything while being made to wait but worth the wait

Scrummy food and lovely service. Warm welcome when arrived, asked about our baby (which was very sweet) and was so nice to hear they knew regulars names and care about there customers. First time going today and will go again.

First fish & chips bought here this evening, pleasant staff, fish cooked in eight minutes precisely as informed when ordered, delicious food. Medium chips and medium fish, plenty of chips for one, could have shared and made two portions and the fish was a very healthy size - both very tasty. Had a tub of curry sauce too, delish ! All for under a tenner, excellent value for money. Will be going back, who needs Chez F.’s

I had cod and medium chips today and I was very disappointed. Although fish was OK, medium portion of chips was really small, chips were undercooked, dry and tasteless. I had some bad chips in my life but they were definitely worse. I heard they won some award but now they are really below any standards.

I have been told that the food here is not that good, but I like to support local businesses, as a result I have just eaten the worst portion of chips I have ever eaten and it cost me £3. From now on I will stick to Anchor Road chippy.

My grand daughters and I treated ourselves to the fish basket - really good; no complaints. My only gripe is that, when I usually come home on Friday, after church choir practice, at around 2000, they are closed. I know - you can't please all of the people all of the time, and expecting them to stay open just in case I popped in, is unreasonable! Great dinner tonight - thank you. XX

The Saveloy was lovely but very let down by the chips and fish cake! The chip portion sizes are not true to other chip shops in Dorset and very pricey for a large literally small bag of chips. The fish cake was extremely disappointing. Photo attached - there is no fish what so ever! The odd flake. It is just mashed potato - how can you sell it as a fish cake? Potato cake would be more suited. Will give this a wide birth moving forward

Got recommended by someone to try and certainly wasn't disappointed,the fish and chips were lovely and the grandchildren were filled up after eating theirs. Coming from Northampton it certainly filled us up for the journey home. I can see now why they have been going for a number of years and hopefully alot more to come. WELL WORTH A VISIT

We picked up order tonight , the cod, roe and fish cakes were excellent with lovely light batter. However, the chips really let the order down, they were luke warm, dry and shrivelled. Surely the server can see the state of the chips when packaged?

We tried this place after recently moving to the area. Best fish and chips I’ve ever had. Mushy peas and curry sauce were perfect too and I even had a sneaky saveloy which was individually wrapped, love the attention to detail. We even had lemon and tartar sauce, I will definitely be ordering from here again.

Fantastic quality fish and chips, cooked to perfection. We travel 10 miles every week as it is the best chip shop in the area. It is cooked to order and piping hot when we eat it, delicious.

Worst fish and chips I have ever had. Food wasn’t hot, wasn’t even warm. When I arrived at the shop the girls were too busy chatting round the back before coming to the counter to take an order. Also over priced. Went to another fish and chip shop for a decent meal and it was £3.60 cheaper.

3 times I've had chips from here, they aren't very warm and very soggy and undercooked. My homemade fishcake was ok but soggy and undercooked. My family and I won't get fish and chips from here again, never very hot and need more cooking.

We had fish and chips here last week, and they were nice. Bought some chips tonight and they are the worst i have ever had. Greasy, soggy and soft and only mildly warm. Despite asking for no salt and vinegar, and the server getting it wrong and doing them again , upon getting home we found she had put salt and vinegar on them again. And charged for large

Must be a lot of money in Fish and Chips as they can afford to only open an hour a week and random times. Given up with trying to go there which is a shame as I used to love it and be a regular.

Absolutely awful, possibly the worst we've ever had and won't be returning, fish and chicken was dry even though supposedly freshly cooked, I have withheld complaining before but this really was the final straw..

Went along at 1935 and they were closed...despite the fact I could still see food and the person behind the counter was obviously trying to ignore me trying to get in the locked door!

Best fish and chips around and the home made fish cakes are delicious. Staff are always friendly and ready to help. Wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Highly recommended! Been going since it opened and it's never failed to deliver delicious fish and chips! Fish is always fresh and batter not too greasy! Chicken nuggets are also a favourite with my kids! Staff are always friendly and helpful. Great all round!

This post is in reply to the last review left by Chelsee I think the review you left was outrageous Firstly they never give 6 onion rings only 8 The bags are always folded over so how your sausage fell out in your drive is a joke The sausage are a good quality meat not cheap like some shops The chip portion size are ample for any person/family Maybe it wasn’t to your liking but really don’t think it warrants a review like this AND NO I AM NOT A MEMBER OF STAFF OR HAVE I EVER WORKED THERE but I do use the chip shop 5 star food 5 star staff 5 star cleanliness

Best fish and chips in Bournemouth! They have made it very easy to order online and collect at your allocated time, making us feel safe in these hard times. Food is always delicious and very generous portions, the staff are always polite and friendly. I will only ever use Robinsons when in Bournemouth!

It was as tasty as the first time we went, many years ago now. The food was perfect and freshly cooked as always. Pre order as it can get busy as it's that good.

Can honestly say we have always enjoyed quality fish and chips from Robinsons. Non greasy batter, well seasoned peas in the pea fritters, crispy onion rings and tasty fish and chips. Service is always friendly and efficient too. Will continue to go back again and again.

I hope this was just a "bad day" for the shop. I am not a Fish & Chips person too much but fancied a change today. I popped in and only ordered chips and curry sauce. The lady who took my order was nice and polite but there was another member of staff who thought that making cups of tea is more important than serving customers. I was quite shocked when she started telling the rest of the staff some story from "what happened in the neighbourhood" when there were another three people waiting to be served. I waited for 15 minutes for my order despite the chips being already cooked. I really wasn't impressed and definitely won't be returning.

Food is great however I am dissatisfied with regards to the food handling of the staff by the till. I noticed that the staff managing the till was wearing gloves accepting money and at the same time wearing the same gloves when opening the paper bag and inserting her gloved hand inside the paper bag where she will put the food. We all know how dirty the notes and the coins are. This is terribly disgusting. This is a violation of the food hygiene policy. In the first place gloves should not be worn when accepting money. My question is this: have you ever seen this kind of practice in other food establishments? So how sure can we be that the food being cooked is clean and not contaminated? Because now I doubt I will buy food in the future because what I saw did not correspond with the food hygiene policy.

Been here a few times, but our most recent visit, we found the fish to be excessively greasy and they wouldn't allow a substitution of mushy peas for a pea fritter on the meal deal, despite the two costing exactly the same. Seemed odd, but apparently it's just not possible...

Lovely fish and chips. Highly recommend the steak burgers with all the trimmings - best burgers around! And the friendliest staff. But don't mention how badly the Saints are doing this season as you're likely to upset Mr Robinson!!! (good place for football banter). The best batter served with the best banter!!

It was ok I've had better fish and chips

Unhygienic, staff smoking outside then serving without washing hands, same with handling money then serving food. To be asked if I'd like half the menu when I've said 'that's it thank you' is really grating. Knowing half the female staffs business on who had an affair, who left who is not what I need to hear. The old lady who works there attitude is disgusting so we go out of our way to Babers up the road. Having to pay to enter best fish and chip shop and becoming runner up isn't the way forward either, at least let customers decide not buy your way in. Personally we avoid just because of the stinky attitude the staff have and the cooking times. At least have a few of each on on your busiest times, you know they're going to sell, few cod, few sausages, it's not rocket science. We don't appreciate waiting upwards of 20/25 minutes for food

Not good, greasy batter on the fish, tasteless chips and grey mushy peas, £13 and most if it went in the bin .

We were staying in Dorset with our Scout Troop, and the staff at Robinson's sorted out 43 lots of chips, fish, pies and sausages at 6pm on a Friday - they are the nicest and friendliest chippy we've ever used, and we're really accommodating with our order - superb.
