Great location, OK food but awful service. But for a great cause! We were a group of 12 meeting for Sunday lunch. Lovely location with harbour view in a very modern attractive building. Despite giving pre-orders we had to order again and had to add all drinks to a single bill - which should have rung some alarm bells. Starter was nicely presented but sadly not a lot of flavour. Main course was excellent with wonderful nicely cooked veg. My dessert - Apple & Rhubarb crumble - lacked any flavour. But so in all, good food. What let everything down was the appalling service that spoilt the day. And when it came to settling the bill, it became clear that there were too many staff involved at the till, resulting in us having to pay more than we had eaten! Absolute farce. We paid the extra - after all, the RNLI is a great charity. But it did leave a sour taste in our mouths.

The atmosphere is always nice..this time the chicken Girish.....was very bland. Definitely needs some extra spices. The chicken was dry., nothing special. The salad bar is great , but no dressing availability! Strange....even a nice bottle of dressing would be acceptable..Lemon drizzle cake is nice... slightly dry. Service is lovely. We will still come back.

Feel a little guilty as this is my first review of the RNLI Riggers Restaurant. Dined there a few times and it's always been 5 star for the price. Unfortunately, today wasn't a great day for the beef! The fish was fab. Asked for a consideration on the aforementioned beef (steak) as only approximately half was edible. 20% off was all the staff were able to offer. Considerate, but not commensurate, in my humble opinion.

Poor selection on Lunch Buffet, unappealing dishes, food lukewarm. Not happy with the server not using tongs to handle my wrap and used his hands with no gloves on. Also saw a member of staff in the kitchen breaking cooked mince up with his hands, no gloves again.

We went to Sunday lunch with 2 friends. We were all of the same opinion. Roast potatoes were poor Cauliflower cheese watery, cheese sauce non existent. The carrots and other were fine, but in general the food was warm, not hot The roast beef under cooked. I cook at home, cooking needs a little imagination, this was not present. Very disappointed

I don't like to complain but sometimes I believe is a good thing to do to help the place improves. In this occasion the complaint is about the food, chicken pie was bad it didn't have any chicken in there,. We have to made many complaints with the waiter to be able to speak to the manager. We have to pay the bill anyway.

We had breakfast here as part of our stay at the RNLI. The breakfast buffet was a typical English breakfast with limited choice for the health conscious eater. Food was processed and fried. Only clean eating options were fruit, with around 30% of fruit rotten in the bowl. We had to look through the bowls carefully to find fresh and unspoiled fruit. Passed by the lunch buffet also to see ultra processed and fried food. I would not recommend this restaurant to the clean eating and health conscious clientele.

Booked lunch as a birthday present for a friend. Didn’t realise it was a self service cafeteria. Ordered Prosecco which was plonked on the table unopened? 3 glasses came all different sizes, one covered in lipstick. Not very friendly when I asked for a new one. Ice bucket eventually arrived, filled to the brim with ice, no room for the bottle? Got our own food, cheap but small portions. Not a great choice. My beetroot wellington was crushed into my plate.

Went for my mothers birthday. Sunday evening carvery. Parked on the road just outside for free, but understand you have to pay £1.50 if you use their car park. Lovely staff, who were attentive. We sat upstairs for the view, which is the bar area, but they reserved us a table, as we had nine in our party. Food was okay, nothing overly speical, and it was pretty cheap, i think £10 for one course, £14 for two, and £18 for three. A pretty chilled atmosphere, and I can imagien on a warmer day, it would be a lovely place to eat.

A lovely restaurant, with a lovely atmosphere, view over the marina, and the inside is exquisitely decorated. The burger was juicy and tasty, the chips nice and fluffy inside, and the burger sauce delicious. The chocolate fudge cake, off of the specials menu for today (Saturday) was also nice. The only note I have is the glasses were a bit streaky, maybe due to how the dishwasher works, so maybe a change in how they are cleaned is needed. Other than that, I would definitely go back and recommend all to go and try out the Riggers Restaurant, not least to help support the RNLI, the charity that saves lives at sea.

Wanted to eat out somewhere a bit different for mums birthday. She loved the fact that you could sit out and overlook the lifeboats and also thoroughly enjoyed a mooch in the onsite souvenir shop. We ate in the Riggers restaurant, which is also used as the canteen for all the RNLI staff. This meant that the prices were incredibly reasonable. Just £6.95 for a main meal such as jacket potato with sausage casserole and salad or a chicken tikka masala curry and rice. Lovely range of desserts, cakes, cookies, etc. from just £1.50. The restaurant manager was jovial and welcoming and explained how to get served and showed us to our table. Limited paid for parking on site also was a bonus as mum can't walk far.

I am a regular at the riggers with our party monthly Sunday lunch normally with no problems. This time it was bad from the start as we booked in by phone no booking when we got there so had to wait while a table was sorted, food was not hot, and a bit mean on the portions. While having our table sorted another party turned up with there booking not down. This needs to be sorted you can book by phone or on line it is causing problems for the staff on the day having to apologise and trying to fit people in.

Took my family who had Sunday lunch but found the chefs rude... I wasn't being difficult but did happen to announce that I don't eat meat (it was kind of necessary) and received one of those reactions...🙄. There was basically nothing for vegans apart from a reproachful glare, vegetarians got gravy that resembled some browney coloured water.. .it was all a pretty poor effort with attitude, not really what you go out to eat for... a little customer service goes a long way. I recommend they try it. It really doesn't hurt that much.

Brand new to the area, went looking for a decent fish and chip shop. I went in, explained that I always judge a place on their chips. I love a light crisp to the outside and soft and fluffy in the middle. To their credit, they let me try one which was nice of them. But the lady serving told me that all chip shop chips are soggy and if they are crispy then they are French fries. I explained that I really liked Harry Ramsdens chips which are fluffy on the inside and crisp on the outside but I was told this wasn't possible? I took a bite and the tips were nice and crisp but the inside was soggy, dense and oily/greasy. I was told that their chips are not oily because they drain them. (Basically told that I was lying about what I was tasting). Then she said no chips shop chips are crisp and fluffy. I replied, well you say that but there's a chip shop... and before I could finish my sentence, she said sarcastically "well perhaps you should go there then hey." I then finished my sentence and said in LONDON, where I'm originally from. I said that his secret was ground nut oil. To which she replied " we can't use that because a lot of customers have nut allergies." Which is fair enough. But I couldn't get past the "perhaps you should go there then hey," comment. Based on the service alone, I'll never be back there again. Shame because its now my local. The chip wasn't terrible, but the service was. I didn't expect my honest feedback to be met with sarcasm and patronising defensiveness. My complaint is about the sarcastic remarks, yet their response is more sarcasm. Yeah, I'll definitely go elsewhere.

Utterly shocked that chips can take 30 minutes whilst I sat waiting as about 10 orders were collected for delivery. No salt and vinegar offered which made for a very bland meal, tiny pea fritters and also the vegetarian options are a complete joke. This is the second time I've been disappointed by this place. Won't visit again.
