Regular clientele. Pleasant place, with 2 very large screens to broadcast sporting events. Young, friendly and dynamic servers. Nickel!

Very nice, authentic pub, attentive & really friendly staff and "normal" prices (in relation to Edinburgh). A stroke of luck within the rather expensive tourist shops in the area. P.S. the nachos are sooo delicious and an Innis & Gunn with them, I was happy, my friend was too thanks to the great whiskey selection... We'll be back!😉

Great local bar in the city centre. Limited food but the Nachos are a great deal. Very pleasant staff. A few great malts. This place is great to watch sports on one of the many televisions. Usually a good few regulars who have been going for years. So it must be doing something right.

Nice corner bar on Rose Street, quiet relaxed atmosphere to have a drink and get away from the more touristy areas. The whisky tasting flight was great choices and nice price. Also, a great hell beer! Outdoor seating area with awning to cover from the rain and quaint indoor area. Very friendly service.

Staff were very rude after being served a flat drink. Told at 10.18pm to drink up, bar was closing - on a Thursday night!!!. Spoke to two patrons that have been regular drinkers there for 6 years and never been treated in this terrible manor before. Will not be back!!!

Stopped for a visit to try somewhere different but £6.90 for a Guinness is getting a bit too much these days to be honest, place itself is fine with normal customer service. Didn't stay for food .

Lovely little bar with a great “local” feel service was speedy we were served by John and Kirsten who had a great rapport with each other. Many laughs and great music choices. Prices overall were a little high but the service more than made up for it will definitely return on our next venture to Edinburgh! Thanks guys.

Ich hatte kürzlich das Vergnügen, den Pub in der Innenstadt zu besuchen und ich muss sagen, dass ich von dem Erlebnis sehr beeindruckt war. Der Pub ist sehr gemütlich eingerichtet und hat eine tolle Atmosphäre. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und aufmerksam, was meinen Besuch noch angenehmer machte. Ich hatte die Gelegenheit, einige der Gerichte auf der Speisekarte zu probieren, und ich war begeistert von der Qualität und dem Geschmack des Essens. Der Pub bietet eine breite Auswahl an Bieren und Getränken, einschließlich einiger lokaler Brauereien. Die Preise waren angemessen und erschwinglich. Das Highlight meines Besuchs war jedoch die Live-Musik, die im Hintergrund gespielt wurde. Die Musiker waren unglaublich talentiert und die Stimmung war fantastisch. Ich konnte das Gefühl der Gemeinschaft und des Zusammenhalts unter den Gästen spüren, was das Erlebnis noch unvergesslicher machte. Insgesamt kann ich den Pub wärmstens empfehlen. Ich werde auf jeden Fall wiederkommen, wenn ich das nächste Mal in der Stadt bin.

One of my favourite bars in Edinburgh Great 80 shillings, great atmosphere.

Pubs ok but underwhelmed by the service (evening of 22nd Feb 2023). As a lone traveller I tend to keep myself to myself in strange bars but would expect a degree of friendliness from the staff. Always considered the Scotch to be as friendly as my fellow Northerners but not these two serving tonight, even my thank you and good evening with a smile was met with a frostiness that made a Siberian winter seem subtropical. They probably don’t care, but shall not be venturing back n their next time in Edinburgh. If surliness and staff with a chip on their shoulder is your thing go for it, if not probably best avoided.

Quiet but light ice place for a drink

A central bar in Rose St behind the famous Princes St more traditional than most which is one of many in this pedestrianised location full of eateries of all kinds The bar area is narrow and easily fills up with a mixture of locals and tourists Quiet when we visited on a freezing late morning and the two bar staff were joking and playing with a bat and ball !!

As we were staying at the hotel opposite it would be rude not to call in, boy what a great choice. Lovely cozy pub - we even stayed and watched the World Cup 2022 Englands first game against Iran. Great atmosphere. A must was for the panini and soup of the day. Great for soup and a panini snack too. Fast and friendly service all round.

1st and definitely last time grubby pub and grubby barman charged £4 for a g and t gave him £5 got 10p back mate came in got charged £5 for a pint when quizzed barman said regulars get cheaper just a scam

Grim. Scruffy, unwelcoming. Disinterested and rude staff; tried to fob us off with plastic glasses as 'glasswasher wasn't working'. When we suggested they washed the glasses by hand (it wasn't busy) they said 'We're not paid enough to do that'. Other regulars had real glasses though. Some poor unsupecting foreign tourists wandered in and sat down - if I'd known their language I'd have warned them off. Some kind of gruel was being served from one of those grimy electric cauldrons behind the bar by a very grubby and unsanitary looking person in a big bobble hat, the racing was (loudly) on the TV, and the 2 barmen were totally engrossed in a laptop - clearly not in the customer service. We passed again at night and the 'clientele' sat outside and the antisocial activity we saw confirmed our belief that this is what can confidently be referred to as 'a dive'. AVOID.

I've been visiting this bar with my nephew on a regular basis over the last few months and have always been made to feel welcome by the staff, albeit they always have to ask to see his I.D.! I'm surprised, therefore, to read some of the negative comments on here so I'd advise people to ignore them and give Robertson's a go for themselves.

Popped in for a pint of Tennents and was charged £4.60. Boy next to me orders the same pint and is charged £3.80, when I asked the barman why he tells me that the other guy is a loyal customer…….that’ll be my last pint in there !

Horrified by one of the male members of staff’s attitude behind the bar. Extremely rude and rushed. No patience or customer service skills. Had asked for two pints of Guinness and before I could say anything else he was away pouring them. When I did order my next drink he was extremely annoyed and told me next time to order them all at once. Before I could explain that he had walked away, he had sheepishly walked away again. He was angry when I had ordered crisps as I did not specify the flavour and he then gave me the flavour I did not ask for. Not even a smile or “can I get you anything else”. Won’t be back!

Been going to this bar for several years when visiting Edinburgh but found this time staff were very rude and a female behind the bar didn't actually serve any customers even when bar was very busy

We visited this pub as it looked like a friendly place and it was. Great bar staff with equally great service. The guys behind the bar helped with charging my phone and gave great advice on how to visit Glasgow for the day, which we did and loved it. Lovely pub, I highly recommend it for a visit if you’re in Edinburgh. There are lots of places on Rose St but this one is the best.

Visited here recently. Not happy that one of the regulars was allowed to cough constantly without covering her mouth and sniffle in the small seating area outside . The staff said nothing to her.. Felt unsafe and left.

Watched some Euro football in here on the big screen. Good range of beers on tap. Whiskies too. Very convenient for the Hub hotel across the road, which where I was staying. Sit inside or outside.

Lovely to sit outside and have a drink, reasonably priced for being in city centre, and even given blankets when it started to get a bit chilly which was a very nice touch.

Popped in for a drink on the way back to the station. Hadn’t been in for many years and we were surprised how nice it was. As with lots of pubs in Rose Street the toilets are down steep stairs. Drinks were reasonable.

Quite busy Saturday afternoon. Still managed to get drinks and a table. Service was quick. Atmosphere lively and happy.

Came In here on a Friday night during Xmas time, so was very busy, we got a table for 8 despite the pub only being small. Really nice atmosphere, drinks are good value and nice.

It's a year since I last reviewed this bar and it's disappointing to report that the fly infestation continues unabated and he management obviously don't give a toss. Spending an evening in the seating area can be very unpleasant as you're constantly swatting fruit flies...

We enjoyed nice drinks on the front patio as we toasted Edinburgh farewell on our last night in the city. We had to walk inside the pub to order our drinks and carry them outside to the table. Table hadn't been cleaned in a while....

Robertsons was a good 'local' pub, with an ample range of drinks and helpful and friendly staff. It is certainly well worth popping in to, if you are in the Rose St area.

Went with a group of friends to Edinburgh and visited Rose Street, famous for its bars and restaurants. Had a soup and toasted sandwich at this pub and was appalled by the experience. Firstly on Health and safety grounds, the bartender did not use basic...

Bar snacks are well made. The staff are very pleasant, friendly and efficient and always have time to talk to the clients I visit every night I am in Edinburgh .Prices are VERY reasonable for the area it is in, and a good choice of draught beers and spirits.

This is a nice cosy pub with good service and I've visited several times over the past few months. But they have an issue with what I assume are fruit flies as the whole place is infested with them, seating areas, toilets, everywhere!. We eventually left as we got fed up swatting them away. This is not a new problem as I have noticed it every time we have visited this pub. The management desperately need to get some pest control experts in.

I don’t know what it’s wrong with the server (dark long hair). I’ve have done something probably I shouldn’t like put my sigaretta on the side of a plant vase safely placed just for few second to go to the toilet with my friend there outside look at my rolled up not even probably on and all of the sudden she start to having a go with me in such a rude way telling me this is not an has tray bla bla bla .I prompted apologies and felt very sorry but still she kept to be rude and disrespectful and didn’t give me a chance to very apologies about it(not even went to the toilet yet). After being in a toilet I went back to try to apologise and she treat me like a drunk man (I wasn’t ) and don’t even listen to me. I know I wasn’t right but she was the worse human I’ve have spoken to. I still feel bad about it just because I couldn’t say how bad I felt about my mistake. Never come back, promise! So maybe she got her point properly. Be careful guys, she’s aggressive!

Encontré este lugar en una lluviosa tarde de domingo y entré solo para secarme y calentar un poco! Afortunadamente, un partido de Liverpool estaba a punto de comenzar, así que nos quedamos para el partido y decidimos almorzar mientras estuvimos allí. Nous sommes rentrés par hasard dans ce pub et ce fut un agréable moment. le personnel était très sympathique et à su nous conseiller dans le choix de whisky selon nos préférences. Le grand choix de whisky nous a permis de faire des découvertes surprenantes ! L'ambiance y est vraiment top et cosy.
