We got here at 9.30 and it was closed. We came back half an hour later and it still wasn't open. supposedly opens at 9pm everyday according to the massive sign outside

Best bar!!! I’ve always loved eastside and have booked it twice now for my own birthday and my boyfriends. Slight issue with the bouncer but that was someone from our parties fault and the manager who is so so lovely resolved it very easily. Amazing drinks and service and fab music.

The service was amazing. All the bartenders especially Cairo, Carlos and Jamie have been very accommodating. Making all the drinks we desire, amazing service and a must be the to come bar.. If you are looking for drinks, eastside is the the go to bar. Everyone here is friendly and welcoming.

Went here for a karaoke night after a different place cancelled last minute. They were super accommodating and got us set up in five minutes!! Great vibes and super fun night

Great spot for cheap drinks on a Monday - Wednesday (£2 singles £4 doubles) definitely recommend! Weekends even better great vibes and music I’ll definitely be back!!

Cairo was the perfect host at our cocktail making class, nothing was a bother, accomodated all our requests and had the patience of a saint being asked the same questions over and over again. Even helped us complete our dare challenges. karaoke room was fab lots of song choices. Highly recommended for a group looking to have a laugh and sing their hearts out. (Deducted a star because the toilet cubicles were awkward to get in and out if you are blessed with larger bottom and breasts) otherwise fabulous night.

Booked Eastside's Karaoke room for my birthday. Incredibly easy to book, the staff were very helpful and relaxed. Wonderful atmosphere and, most importantly, well priced drinks. Would definitely recommend Eastside!

A good place to chill with friends. DJ vibing was cool and warming.

Really nice place with a warm atmosphere with banging tunes. However, some of the bartender seems to be incompetent as it can take you up to half hour before being served.

Bar staff were quick and efficient, large selection of drinks. Love the interior designs. However got an inappropriate comment from one of the bouncers which ruined our night.

I've been coming here for years and it's really sad to see it going so far down hill. Used to be a nice place you could go for drinks after work and hang out with your friends. Now it's over priced, the wait time on drinks is awful, literally stood at the bar for 30 minutes everytime you want a pint, the pool tables are gone, and the music/dj is awful, can never even hear what people are saying over the obnoxiously loud hip hop

We had the most amazing time at eastside. The atmosphere was buzzin, people were friendly and the music was great. The bouncers were very friendly especially Casper he was so lovely and kind!! Thanks for a wonderful night

The staff is really welcoming and helpful, and the environment is great. The only downside is that for a place where you are supposed to be sitting while having drinks or food, the music is too loud. I was in with friends, and we left after 20 minutes because we could not listen to each other. Definitely won't be a place I'll think to come back to.

I have been to Eastside a few times now, and will continue to return again and again. The atmosphere is great, and the service is even better. Chris makes some of the best cocktails I've had in my life - he will even change up the recipes based on my preferences of whisky and other flavours. He was even able to create the perfect drink for some of the pickiest drinkers I know! The overall drink selection is great - it seems like the bar is continuously adding and improving the brands and liquors they offer. Additionally the menu is growing and changing... Continuous improvement is definitely a focus here. Really cannot think of a better place or bartender to spend an evening at. And I haven't even mentioned how the DJ is always on point. I will be back at Eastside very soon!

Unfortunately however upon entrance and declaring the wine in my bag and happy for the bouncer to keep a hold as he said would hold onto it for me. upon leaving I'm told oh yeah someone's been drinking it, someone drank it", yeah. that was a nice end to my after shift. What on god's green earth have you done to the outside of the club!!? That black with the yellow NewYork cab mural looks AWFUL! - I say this as a friend, honestly it looked far better before, now it looks like a cheap cafe. I felt really welcome for a first time visitor. I was actually beginning to think Edinburgh was unfriendly, then I came to Eastside !! I was speaking to strangers, another stranger graciously offered a shot of tequila with him and a friend. Good place...and it's really comfortable for a club, it's not trashy, or dirty, or grimy, it's very decent. They have a good range of nonalcoholic drinks too.

14 double double vodka and red bull came to £266 how can that be justified

Honestly fantastic, we were looking for a fab bar all night and this was it. Drinks weren’t priced OTT. the staff were amazing and made things off menu, absolutely loved both the vibes and the staff here and would 100% recommend a visit here. Don’t do yourself an injustice and visit here. It’s next on our place to come for drinks in our next trip to Edinburgh. Thank you for the brilliant night honestly

Late night Cocktail bar, with pool table and leather sofa and high tables for those one on one conversations. This cocktail bar plays recorded music and has a dj set. You can get table service or order from the bar. Nice vibes.

This bar has such a great feeling! Little hidden gem on the popular George Street. The staff are very welcoming and attentive. The cocktails alone are enough to warrant another trip to Edinburgh.

It's a nice pop with good food and nice drinks

I always enjoy a visit to eastside. They have good cocktails, free pool tables and darts and generally a very chilled vibe. On Wednesdays they have a good pub quiz. I only knocked a star off because it always feels just a little bit sticky and the bathrooms are in need of a bit of TLC

First time here and so glad never had good after reading previous reviews. Other people in our group did and I can honestly say the burgers looked very average came wrapped in tin foil and the plastic basket you get in American diners. Cheap enough for drinks but for a Montpeliers bar the worst out of them all. Go to any other much nicer food, bigger selection of drinks oh and the toilets need upgraded no hand soap!!

If you like wine give this place a very wide birth. They only serve 'Box Wine' in bulk and pour it from industrial bag into 'Hooch Bottles' with plastic rubber lids! No for the feint hearted and not even for the weekend warrior noisy, dirty, inferior basement place.Toilets were filthy and vomit in 2 cubicles.I asked the bar staff member (young man) why he had to go outside a rear yard to get the wine? he replied (paraphrase) we pour it from the box-bags into recycled hooch bottles and sell it for £25 a bottle. Is that legal I asked? 'No one else is complaining'... he offered. I surmised no one complained because no one else seemed to be drinking wine (we had stumbled into a young persons bar). I then asked a more senior chap to verify - He claimed also that pouring industrial bulk wine from box-bags into used hooch bottles and selling ot for £25 was normal. He added that I could get a half bottle (small hooch bottle) for £15 or a 175 ml glass for £6! I pointed out that it tasted like rancid retina and may not be wine at all. He said there were other places all over that sold proper bottles but their policy was box-bag poured to hooch bottle £25 or leave.I noted that this is probably the most expensive inferior wine in Edinburgh - given that leading chain bars only seconds away retail proper bottles of certified, quality controlled, customs and excised wine from £11/bottle.Dirty, noisy, rancid and expensive place.

We had a private party here which took over the entire venue until late. It was an incredible night. The atmosphere of the bar was welcoming, the staff were friendly and fun. Plenty of places to sit and chat. Located on George Street, it's bound to get busy at peak times, but I'd recommend checking it out anyway. Nice place!

Excellent bar, great atmosphere and drinks. One bar staff member in particular, Douglas made the whole experience for us! Nothing was too much and hes an asset to the bar! KARAOKE ROOM is excellent!!! We spent at least 3 hours in here and loved it so much we are going back tonight!

This is a nice bar. We came on early evening do it wasn’t busy which was ideal. Plenty of seating. Staff were very friendly and chatty. The food menu is small but it’s ideal and some of the food sounded really nice. Drinks were strong and very nice. I would certainly come in later in the evening next time and stay for longer.

We came across here with a spare hour and the main attraction was empty seats! However once in the decor was student/warehouse and there was plenty of seating and space. We ordered cocktails (the pornstar was outstanding, and the extra slushy) and had some chicken wings. Everything was fresh and tasty. I believe they make all the cordials that go into the drinks in house. The staff were friendly and happy to offer suggestions on drinks. There are pool tables that are free to play on, so we had a game of pool while we had our drinks. It’s very chilled and doesn’t have the George street pretentiousness that some of the other places have. It also doesn’t have the George street price tag! We would definitely come back.

¡Fuimos a tomar algo con un amigo en diciembre para escapar de la lluvia y el viento de Edimburgo! Fuimos porque teníamos cupones para pulseras que nos daban 4 cócteles, sin embargo, el barman dijo que los menús aún no se habían impreso, por lo que no sabíamos qué pedir. Cuando finalmente encontramos un menú promocional, los cócteles eran agradables y había una buena selección.Pedimos comida pero no hay suficiente espacio en la mesa para comer, ya sea demasiado alto o demasiado bajo. Pedí sal, vinagre y salsa de tomate con mis papas fritas y me dijeron que no tenían sal y vinagre (¿qué tipo de lugar no tiene sal y vinagre para servir con papas fritas?) Y la salsa de tomate nunca llegó. Mi amigo pidió un tenedor para comer las papas fritas cargadas que tampoco llegaron. El bar estaba bastante frío, ¡me alegro de que usara un jersey de Navidad!Las mesas de billar son gratuitas y la música no es demasiado alta, por lo que es buena para tener conversaciones. La ubicación también es buena. La comida y la bebida son bastante buenas. En general, es un buen lugar con un ambiente estudiantil, pero no tendría prisa por volver.

Really relaxed vibe, nice atmosphere . Not much choice on tap. Some really heavy second hand smoke getting in from people smoking on lower steps next to the entrance, all clothes went to the laundry bag in the morning.

A strange atmosphere for George street, need to go back to try again before I can say for sure. Pool tables and a darts board for entertainment.

Floor staff took our drinks away. Having visited quite a lot of countries it has never occured to me to get my drink taken away. Here, overzealous staff collected my friend's drink whilst we were chatting and standing next to our table. Knowing this was a mistake, we politely pointed the fact out to the staff and to a floor manager. Basic hospitality rules would normally involve an apology and a free drink. Not here. We were quite rudely told to stop complaining, while the manager explained that we must watch our drinks: this is victim blaming at its finest. I can't possibly see a reason why a reseller would take a purchased good away from the buyer, but apparently this is common practice at the Eastside.

Good atmosphere and good mix of ages, not overly populated with 'youngsters'. You can order at the bar or your order can be taken at your table. Staff very pleasant and welcoming.

Gorgeous bar on George Street that we stumbled upon by accident. The decor and the music are great, the food was tasty and a great selection of drinks. We liked it so much that we went back for a second visit.

Great concept for a bar but apparently poor execution. Hope you like basic cocktails and Camden beer because that's your options. Food on offer, unless on a special night, is pretty sad as well. Admittedly wasn't in for the pool tables, which would have improved the night, but the bar would have remained less than impressive.

The concept of this bar is great. It’s quite casual (particularly given it sits on George Street) and has free pool tables and dart boards. Drinks are very reasonably priced, especially off their happy hour menu. Only downfall is the food: love the idea of street food but it felt very unorganised (unclear where to order, what food is available) and the food received wasn’t very good.

Really great venue. Large bar with indie board games, a good cocktail menu with a really good gin variety, a wide choice of snacks and toasts and three pool tables (free to play!). When I've been here first, it was for a gin workshop which I really enjoyed a lot. Definitely suggested for a night out with your friends.

Cocktails are lovely, cool concept, great music playlist. Sadly had to leave a lot faster than anticipated as the smoking area is directly outside and people did not go up the stairs, so second hand smoke was entering the bar. As an asthmatic I had to take my inhalers and leave. Ended up having to end our night overall early as I was wheezing badly. My asthma is well controlled, this doesn't normally cause an issue but it was bad.

Place is bigger than you think. Recommend the cheese toasties and folk tell the kebabs were good too.

It's a great atmosphere, very busy but super fun! Would recommend a visit, a bit of a hidden gem. Pool tables and friendly staff too.

The concept of the bar is awesome. Street food Amazing beer and awesome cocktails. Would of gave it 5 stars but there is a small problem with the smoking area. I have a girlfriend that suffers from asthma and half way through our drink we had to leave because the smoking area is pretty much at the front door so there smoke was coming in to the bar and she started to wheeze. I'm an ex smoker and even I was noticing the amount of smoke coming in. As much as the smokers are at the side of the door there was a few when it got crowded who where standing at the entrance. Feel if someone a had lung condition not as controlled as my girlfriend you could have a serious issue on your hand. Again the bar is great but if the smoking situation was sorted I would be back. Unfortunately when my girlfriend struggles to breath midway through a drink I can't return.
