Awful service, attitude of the staff was vile, amenities basic at best. McDonalds kids fish bites… where was the fish!! Child couldn’t even eat them! It was hard batter. Would avoid at all costs

Came here to charge up, but the charger had been turned off by the staff, so I was stranded and had to call the AA out to take me to another service station.

This is a modern and clean service area with ample parking . Its a lovely setting being built overlooking the lake. The wall to floor windows in the service area offer the view to diners; there is also some seating outside , on a small terrace which has a telescope to enjoy the distant views. There is also ample grassland to wander and picnic on too. Inside Costa coffee provide excellent coffee and the staff a warm welcome. Toilets are clean and looked after well

We have been meaning to stop here for sometime having been told of the views over the reservoir. Disabled parking was hard to find as there appeared to be only five bays. The views were are good as we had been led to believe, however, the standard of the outlets left a lot to be desired for patrons of the older generation, two paper cups of machine (help yourself) coffee and two sandwiches from Smiths cost well over £13. I will look elsewhere in future.

I drive the M6 a couple of times each year and invariably stop at Killington Lake services on the way south (as it’s not accessible going north). The setting is great with picturesque views across the lake. However the food offering is limited - basically it’s McDonald or Costa. Both over-priced.

Ample parking space with a short distance to walk to the main entrance. An attractive spot by a lake. The front facade looked un-kempt with cigarette buts lying all over a bin area. I found the male toilet sign hard to see because of the surrounding clutter. The toilets were being well looked after by a member of staff. My wife had queued for sometime at McDonald's for ice-cream (it was a very hot day). Once she was served and ask asked for the said items she was told "we're completely out of ice-cream". Placing a sign up saying so would help all concerned!

The BP filling station was expensive. I understand that service stations are more expensive. But with fuel currently about £1.22 for diesel to charge £1.419, 20p a litre more is just too much

I suppose it depends what time of day you go (we visited at 1.30pm on a saturday) but there were no available disabled parking slots and 2 out of the 4 available wouldn't have been usable to us anyway as there was no room for a wheelchair at the side of a car even if you used a travel wheelchair I unfortunately have to use a Powerchair so trying to get out of the car was a chore for my poor hubby as my wheelchair has to be got out with a ramp lol but brave hubby braved the passing cars and got it out so I could get into the building and Use The Facilities ...Difficult to get Powerchair even into the turning towards the disabled loo and then it's at the end of the corridor and sharp left turn into the loo itself. Lock on door dodgy but hubby was stood guard outside. Transferring from Powerchair to loo was a scary effort as I was half way across and set off the hand drier as it's right by the loo photo attached. Avoid the scary hand drier Loo wasn't flushed and floor was wet, but seriously, a lot of people leave them in that state I find general cleanliness was better than I usually see in a disabled loo I'd probably not come back here though as it was a chore getting parked, out and into the loo but as I say I'm in a Powerchair which is larger than most people's light travel ones so not so bad for most people...just bring a guard for outside the door in case you don't have the dexterity to lock it yourself either

Always been our stop of choice but there is now so little food to choose from. Not one single meal choice tonight for my vegan passenger. Won't stop here again unless this changes.

I love COSTA and choose them wherever I am as I am usually assured of a decent cappuccino in a fair sized cup (small) Unfortunately the COSTA at this roadchef have decided to add a 35% fee on top of the usual COSTA charge. They don't even give you points! Apparently they are just a franchise. I must remember never to visit Killington Lake again.

Tuvimos una corta parada aquí, como siempre fuimos para una costa, lo que un lugar caro! Mucho más caras que las costas ordinarios. Nosotros no vamos a volver.

ave had to stay at the Days Inn here for a couple of nights which itself isn't too bad. The Costa Coffee here is very expensive as is the McDonalds.BP here keeps uits fuel prices high (i understand it is a service station on the M6 but there are cheaper places on the M6 to by fuel). The one great redeeming feature: the location above Killington Lake and the spectacular views across the lake towards the fells and Tebay.Avoid if you can

COFFEE at COSTA - £14.36 for 4 large coffees on the M6, £12.36 for 4 small coffees - please explain Roadchef, how on earth can this be justified? McDonalds on the same site, same seating area and also your responsibility only £1.69 a cup (granted, not as nice, but a vast improvement these days). UNLESS WE PROTEST WITH OUR FEET IT WILL SOON BE £4:00 FOR A BASIC SMALL COFFEE. Do people not realise that if they have (say) 3 small coffees a day from your Costa its an outrageous £3,383 a year, that's one heck of a good family holiday! Look forward to receiving your justification, I haven't even bothered to include the price of basic food, but the total cost for a family of four is nothing short of disgusting exploitation.

OK, so this is a Road Chef and the services are more or less what you would expect from that brand. However, there is one great redeeming feature: the location above Killington Lake and the spectacular views across the lake towards the fells and Tebay. Picnic tables are thoughtfully provided at raised viewpoints just off the car park to the left. We were lucky to stop here on a warm sunny day and thoroughly enjoyed eating our picnic lunch at one of these tables, followed by a coffee on the open terrace outside Costa (nice views again). So, we really enjoyed breaking our journey here. Note: accessible to southbound traffic only.

We stopped here in the way back from Scotland to the Midlands. For quickness we chose to get food at macdonalds. What a joke. We asked for a Big Mac meal and a quarter pounder meal with no cheese. Obviously as is normal we had to wait for the burger to be cooked. When it arrived despite saying no cheese on the box and the women who served us reiterating it it arrived with cheese. We took it back, they apologised and started it again. When it arrived this time it did have no cheese but it also had no pickles, no onion and no sauce. Just a plain, dry burger in a bun so we had to take it back again. Eventually on the third attempt they got it right but really it wasn't difficult. The toilets were clean there put the first three cubicles I tried wouldn't lock and the hand dryer I used just kept switching on and off every 10 seconds. We would never stop here again! It wasn't even busy.

The place was clean and the staff were great at a very quiet time. The food was cheap cafe food at a rediculous price. That combined with our experience at the adjoining Days Inn makes this a place to be avoided. Thats a pity because it is a super setting.

We ate in the "Rest-Bite" restuarant after our stay at Killington Lake for our breakfast. As a couple we both had a standard breakfast (which consisted of 1 bacon, 1 sausage, spoon of beans, 1 hash brown and 1 egg) and 1 cup of tea -- all of which came up to over £16.. . I couldn't believe it! I know service stations are expensive, but that was just ridiculous and the food was nearly cold when we got round to eating it after finding a table.I'd much travel to the next junction down and eat something rather than eat there again.

These services are conveniently located on the M6 Southbound near Kendal. They are set in beautiful surroundings with a superb view of Killington Lake with a range of boats and wildlife. However this is where the good times end. We had two cooked breakfasts and our bill came to £15.15. We would have been happy to pay this however the breakfasts were so small they would have fit on a tea plate, the food was freezing, the service was dreadful and we were left feeling like we'd need to make another stop off somewhere else. The toilet facilities were the worst we've experienced with only two usable cubicles in the female toilets due to awful sanitation and lack of loo roll and the male toilets were no better. A dismal experience and we will not stop off here again.

We arrived in lovely sunshine but were disappointed to find that contrary to the impression given in the advertisement by Lakeland Retreats of sitting on your decking enjoying the sun there is no sun as the Lawns is surrounded by high trees making the interior constantly dark. You have to put the lights on for your breakfast and if you eat in later in the day then also. My partner decided to have a bath the first night but unfortunately contrary to the management company's assertion that there's a constant supply of hot water the hot water ran out and the water turned cold. This happened twice as it did to our neighbours in the adjoining Lakeland Retreats property. We normally have a cooked breakfast on a Sunday but we were appalled to find that the two frying pans supplied were pitted with rust and unusable. Finally as the season turned from summer to autumn the evenings got a little nippy. We tried to turn up the storage radiators but found that the controls are blocked by wooden brackets screwed over the radiators so you can't use them. A beautiful area but we won't be using Lakeland Retreats again if this is the standard they aspire to!

Great service compliments the menu which always has a Sunday roast dinner on Sundays. You need to book in advance to ensure of a table at your chosen time as there is nothing worse than being turned away and having to wait for a table.
