A little too early for Christmas decorations in my opinion, but apart from that, the room was clean and the bed was very comfy. The food was really good, all of the staff were great and willing to help if you needed anything. The quiz and bingo guy was really entertaining, how he holds so much knowledge in his brain is beyond me.

Had an amazing week here. We slept very well in the most loveliest beds . Fab hot spacious showers. Clean rooms. The way to the too. S are a little here there and everywhere. But once you get used to this it's fine. Also a lift. Lovely swimming pool although the floor around the pool could have been cleaned. The food was amazing and plentiful with a carvery type setting which was beautiful everytime and a large choice to choose from both breakfast and evening meal. Staff are lovely and the entertainment was great too. . I would happily stay here again. 👌

I've never experienced anything like that. First we had to pay €50.00 for 4 days for a larger room with WiFi. Other rooms had free WiFi. The breakfast only consisted of sticky white bread, no fresh fruit and at 7:45 a.m. we German holidaymakers were no longer given any cheese or sausage because apparently the English guests had everything on it would. The coffee is as thin as tea. They stuck to the tables because the glaze came off🤮. Dinner wasn't much better either. In any case, the hotel cannot be recommended to anyone.

I would give this hotel 0 stars for myself.I am a local guide, so this review is genuine, so here we go hope you have a lot off time to read this review as it will save you a lot off money in the long run, in fact run as fast as you can away from this hotel. Me and my partner went here for a four day break with Caledonian bus tours too Torquay that is another story too but we will get there. We got picked up in Edinburgh at Hermiston gate about 6.30am put our suitcases on the bus took our seats and got ready for the journey down to Torquay or so we thought. But little did we know we were just starting a long journey south because of all the stops on the way down and then we stopped at southwaite service station to swap buses which we never knew about so then we had to swap the suitcases on to another bus as one was going to weston supermare and one was going to Torquay which no one explained what was happening until later on in the journey and you could tell not everyone was happy with this arrangement as there is no communication to advise you off this until you are later into the journey. So you have to look through everyone's cases to get to yours and make sure you don't take the wrong oneas it would be an easy mistake too make. so when we eventually arrived at this hotel you better make yourself cup of tea or coffee if you want to read this review to the end as we were not happy customers. So here goes we eventually arrived at the hotel after all the pick ups and all the stops on the way down we were all advises to stay in the lounge at reception and everyone is very tired after all the travelling and then you are asked if you would like to upgrade too a refurbished room with a walk in shower it is five pounds a person or ten pound per person per night to upgrade,so if you don't upgrade don't expect to get a decent room as we didn't upgrade as i think we have paid our money and we should get a room but not for more money as in my eyes you are paying for the refurbishment with your money. so the first morning we got breakfast but when we went to the dining room we weren't told anything where to go our what you do etc, so we went the wrong way round and then after this we just followed the crowd remember you need a wrist band to eat and it is waterproof, so at dinner i read the menu prices it said it was 1.50 each for a can of coke ,pepsi, orange, etc but when i went to get this i was told it was 4.00 pounds for two cans of juice, but i said it was 1.50 on the menu and the girls in the dining room said to me it is 1.50 at the reception but this is the bar i had to have a chuckle to myself as this is the same hotel so you would think it should be the same price in my honest opinion. On the next couple of nights the entertainment was second to none but one night was not as good as the rest and there is bingo every night and a wee quiz. Our room left a lot too be desired before we got too our room after asking if we wanted to upgrade there is a lot off stairs to negotiate. if you have mobility problems go to another hotel, so once we arrived at our room it had a double bed and two single beds but the shower is one that runs off the taps as this part off the hotel is not upgraded so the first night was fine but we noticed in the morning in the bathroom little beasties on the floor that can fly they were coming from the floor through the cracks in the tiles and they were flying into the room and flying around and crawling all over the tea making facilities but the couple we met there was the same as us so i think all rooms must have these but the cleaners must clean the rooms in the morning and get rid off them but they come back in the morning again. so as i say pick another hotel probably cheaper and less hassle imho. so good luck if you don't upgrade and stay in this hotel as for basil faulty lol. As for caledonian travel we had a reference number which you check on the notice board if it is up we spoke to the driver Gordon and he told us there was too many and tours ran out of space.

Parents stayed recently. Don't be surprised if your able to upgrade to a better room (at your cost) that's this hotels business model. Our parents first room was below average in cleanliness, the shower area had cracked tiles and the shower head wasnt even fitted, the door was broken by way of a split all the way down the face. They did get 'upgraded' for an additional £30...so this was the correct price for an average stay here.

We stayed for 2 nights and were fortunate to upgrade to a super king room in the refurbished area of the hotel. You can see the potential of the hotel following the current refurbishments. The room was very clean and comfortable to stay in. Our only little personal niggle was that the overhead bed lighting was too bright. The food was good. The breakfast was toast, cereals, fruit and full English buffet. A continental breakfast option would be a nice addition too. The evening meal was a buffet option of 3 or 4 choices with a small selection of vegetables. The evening entertainment was excellent including bingo and tribute acts. We loved Tina Turner and Elvis. We would happily revisit. The hotel is a close walk to the beach.

We stayed in this hotel during a week long trip with Caledonian Travel. This was a nice, clean hotel with lovely staff who were very welcoming and helpful, particularly Tom and the ladies behind the Reception desk. The young staff in the restaurant had a bad attitude and often made mistakes so could do with more training. The hotel was undergoing building work during our stay, so it was both busy and noisy day and night, which was a shame.

I have asthma so upgraded for a room with a patio for an extra £80 for 4 nights so no stairs they said. However they didn't tell me it was at the other end of hotel and had to walk uphill to get to main entrance and dining room which is chaotic. Queue up to get every course. Worse than school dinners. No choice of starters soup or nothing. Managed 3 nights couldn't face 4th. Ate out. Only had wi-fi near reception not in rooms. The entertainment every night was very good.

From the outside the hotel looks dirty and carelessly run. Old-fashioned and unfortunately dirty inside. Thick lint in the new stairwell, the tables in the restaurant are sticky. Some coffee edges in the cups. Mass processing, the buffet is too small for so many people. Only 2 toasters for about 120 guests at the same time!!! Cheese and 1 type of cold meat only from 7 a.m. to a maximum of 7.30 a.m., fresh fruit or vegetables are non-existent. Everything from cans. No German television program. WiFi only in the renovated rooms, for an additional charge. But these rooms are nice and were also clean. Location is great, just a few steps to the harbor. Evening entertainment ok. Nevertheless, we wouldn't book there again.

Great place to stay. Lots of entertainment. Everyone was so helpful. I would give 5 stars if it wasn't for the food on offer. Yes it is included in the price but it let's the place down in my opinion. It is a buffet, however being someone who doesn't eat pork but wants a vegetarian English breakfast having vegetarian sausages ect would have gone a long way. Dinner is a different issue. We stayed when it was roast turkey and it was dry rubbery and had no taste what so ever gravy was like brown water and rice was just bleh. Seasonings would bring the menu up to par with the services on offer.

Older style hotel in process of upgrading rooms. 190 ! Bedrooms I believe. A warren of a place to get from one end -reception to the far end where there are some Balcony rooms you have to go up then down then up again it is well signed I must say, and in places a stair lift is available. There are also lifts but not to all floors or location of rooms - due to the nature of the building. Staff are more than helpful and accommodating. It mainly caters for coach parties from UK and abroad on a 4/5 night accommodation bed breakfast + evening meal. The decor in the eating area is bland with a poor colour choice and a mash of Brass wall lights bulb only and chrome ceiling light. Grey and white wall. It could easily be improved! Given the budget!! It has a large entertainment hall well kitted out with live entertainers and Bingo. I had a twin refurbed balcony room 3rd floor. Beds pillows sheets and duvets all good furniture although functional lowers the tone of the refurb. Tea/coffee provided and replenished daily. Extra large walk on shower - glass side and door gave a good hot shower. The table and chair setup has no light by it. New UK power sockets with 2 USB port useful centre lighting control by bed- nice. Remote wall mounted TV. Not on swivel mount. Balcony has new outdoor chairs a table. Smoking permitted. Just needs budget to bring up the flooring and sort out the wall and ceiling good spot for morning sun Sea view (just) through the tree foliage. Room a great size but the squeaky floor boards from room above very irritating (old building ) it would be very expensive to sort old flooring out. Pay and display car parking on site adjacent to Coach parking. The is a swimming pool with a cover charge for hotel towel of £10.

I am on a coach holiday, Monday to Friday with Caledonian travel. My room is £239 + £35 single supliment. I have often paid the supliment when only a twin or double room are available to cover loss of potential revenue on that room. On arrival we were all offered upgrades to the best rooms in the hotel for an extra £10 per night. I didn’t take the offer then discovered that the extra £35 that I had paid was for a small room with only a single bed. Have I paid the extra money to have a single bed without sharing? Others are in the best rooms for only an extra £5! Also, I am so high up that I can hear the heavy rain slamming down on the hotel roof and someone snoring in the next room.

I recently returned from a few days at the hotel 10/11/2023 to 14/11/2023. My wife and I were inn Room 248. This was a very small room more like a single room rather than a double. It is a good thing that we are not 2 large people otherwise we would have had a problem moving around in the room. The television in the room had a mind of its own. Firstly it changed over when I was watching the BBC news it changed to ITV coronation Street a programme I never watch. We went for dinner and then the show on our return to our room the TV had switched its self on. We went to bed and I watched the news again it turned its self over to an other station. I accused my wife of turning the TV over which see denied. We switched it off and went to sleep. At 3 o clock my wife woke me up and asked me why I had turned the TV on. I hadn't turned the TV on again we turned the thing off and returned to our slumber. When we came back on Saturday afternoon again the TV was on. Saturday evening we had dinner and went to the show. At about 10.00PM my wife asked me to get something from our room. When I opened the door the TV was off. I went into the bathroom and then I heard a woman's voice. I quickly looked to see if any one else was in our room but again the TV had turned its self on. This happened again on Sunday but by now we were used to it and just laughed at the issue. Hotel was good food was good and the Tribute acts were very good. all staff were very pleasant and helpful. All except our TV.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We upgraded to one of the recently renovated rooms with a balcony and thought it very good for the price. Food was good and staff excellent. No complaints and will certainly visit again

Not a bad hotel, but everything seems to require an upgrade over the standard to get better. We upgraded to the newest building and comparing it to others we were travelling with I'm really glad we did but at a £80 expense. The restaurant had various good choices each night. Entertainment was on every night with a quiz and cash win bingo. There are two bars to choose from, sports bar and the entertainment bar both were decent.

Had a 4 day stay at this hotel, asked your operator for a walk in shower like others on the tour had asked for, only to be told it's £10 each per night to upgrade to the new build annex or £5.00 pp per night for a room with a walk on shower one lady on crutches with two children stood crying, just ignored,so be careful if you book a stay with a coach firm it seems they tell you one thing then you get there you are put in a dilapidated dirty room curtains threadbare wall dirty not even a grab rail on wall to hold onto if you have mobility issues ,I'm told the new rooms are lovely, but if you end up in these outdated rooms good luck. And before the management replies to this and tell me I'm not welcome back, rest assured I won't be back!!!

On arrival we had to take our own luggage to our rooms. One of my party quests had a medical issue, which the manager (Sonia) delta with professionaly. The rooms where always clean on return, food and catering staff I will give 9/10. As there is always room for improvement. We didn't use the pool but understand that it was perfect?. Sports and show bars welcoming bar staff 8/10. Entertainment very good. Would highly recommend this hotel. If you don't like steps, there are steps everywhere you go. Can I finish by saying a big thank you to Sonia, from us all.

Bedienung sehr unfreundlich.

I brought 35 clients to the Abbey Lawn from 17th to 21st September. We couldn't fault it, the food was excellent and plenty of it with a varied menu. Rooms, spotless, pool perfect, entertainment was very good. Would definitely bring people again. Thank you so much Julie Weller

We had a lovely dining experience on the night of Saturday the 26th of October 2024. All staff were very friendly but special mention goes to Emma who went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our meal. She is a real star.

Was nice, hard to finds a member of staff to get a drink though. Oh and the door to the pool kept closing and locking which didn't feel safe with children in the pool. Tried to contact them a few months later to book the pool and couldn't get hold of anyone. Booked elsewhere.
