Had run out of soup at 12.15 so just had coffee and cake. Was assured lemon drizzle cake was properly drizzled - it wasn't it might have had some lemon juice in the sugary icing but there was no lemon in the cake - very disappointing. Coffee was drinkable but that's all. I'd recommend this place for coffee and cake on a sunny day when you can sit outside with pleasant views across the Dane Valley - the indoor seating is very dinghy imho...

While the teenage staff might try hard, they know nothing about food, nor customer service. I opted for an 'ice-cream' milkshake, chose a flavour, then watched from a distance how a small scoop of ice-cream became blended with a pint of milk, producing a watery sweet drink that comes no-where close!! For £5.50 please tell your young staff that a proper milkshake should support the straw vertically in the middle of your glass!! I also had a bacon/brie Panini... which was about as tasty as the napkin. My short conversation with the kitchen staff was met by a quizzical look... as if I was speaking German. What needs to happen to get tasty well-prepared food in this country, with bright confident staff delivering great customer service!!!

Myself and another fellow childminder arrived here last Tuesday. We often come to this farm with the children we mind. They enjoy seeing the animals and having a play. We will always buy ourselves a coffee from the cafe and sometimes we’ll buy the children toast and a bacon bap each for ourselves. On this particular day, we’d arrived at the farm and after looking at the animals, we took the children into the enclosed play area for them to play and with the intentions of buying a couple of coffees. We’d not been sat there long when we were approached by an older man in a blue boiler suit. He asked if we were buying something, to which we replied “Yes”. He carried on mumbling about it being a bargain and how unfair it was that we were using their business for our business. We both felt very intimidated by this man, who had no intention of walking away, but instead he stood there arguing with us and accusing us of not spending money at the farm, making us feel extremely uncomfortable. Apart from us, there was one other lady sat at another table who was watching her son play. So it wasn’t even busy? In the end we said we’d leave because we obviously weren’t welcome. He told us to “Do that”!! We definitely won’t be going back here!! And we definitely won’t be recommending it again to anyone!! What ever happened to small businesses supporting small businesses?? We would always tell the parents of the children we looked after about Riverside Organic, saying it was a lovely place to visit for both children and adults!!! Well now none of the parents will be coming here again after they heard how we were treated!!!

Dangerous Male intimidating Women and children! The farther of the owner approached my wife and her friend to complain that they hadn't purchased anything yet and were using the Free play area! My wife explained that they were planning to use the cafe. The male continued to intimidate my wife and her friend and refused to leave there personal space when asked to do so. would think twice visiting this farm and plan to take this further, aggression towards anyone is unacceptable but for a Male to display such aggression towards women and children is disgusting. The Owner should take immediate action towards his farther as he has a duty of care for his customers.

Needs improving! We are local to the farm and it's a shame to see it isn't being maintained. Both times like others have mentioned have been disappointing. Its been nearly 6 months since our last visit and still there's broken tractor toys left out. Toys need sorting and throwing if not fit for purpose. My 22month old son even commented today how dirty the chairs were in the little outdoor playhouse. No grass for the guinea pigs. We have been twice now for the advertised 'tractor ride' yes no timings are ever listed. Today we arrived at 9am the tractor wasn't till 11 by this time we'd left as not alot to do and forecast rain. Need more staff on the till in the cafe as long queues. Expensive breakfast for what it is. Also carparking needs to be looked at ie gravel placed down instead of mud track field.

Had many visit’s here but have to say this visit was rather disappointing! Lovely breakfast the egg was burnt so we have to eat with wooden knives and forks now which was quite impossible try to cut through thick bacon. What I found rather distressing was the condition of the chickens and Guinea pig areas. Poor things had no food or grass to nibble, I was horrified to see their filthy drinking water containers covered in green algae.

The location is fabulous and the childrens play area is a great safe space. Coffee was poor quality and wait time of half an hour was ridiculous for a brew! Food is overpriced over 5 pounds for two slice of bacon on a brioche roll. Top it off, bringing out cakes clearly bought from Costco and then fitting it to the farm shop narrative is galling. There are some home made cakes there but may be worth asking which is which first!

We used to love going here for a hot chocolate while out with our dog. We liked sitting outside admiring the amazing views. Since lockdown, they have changed it all, unfortunately NOT for the better. The first time, our chunky chips were so full of grease, we sent them back, they couldn't explain why. I spoke to the manager, he offered a refund, I declined, he was missing the point of poor quality/service, it took over 20 minutes to get our order. We thought we would give it another chance, today. We had hot chocolate, the first one, wasn't even luke warm, the second was slightly better but no where near as nice as it used to be before lockdown. Such a shame but we won't be going back or recommending it to anyone. I get the feeling the staff are not trained & are given inadequate/sub standard resources to use.

We thought we were in for a treat within such a beautiful setting and location. With only a small appetite we ordered the Chips served on a brioche but we asked for it on bread because being brought up in Manchester with the best chips and chip barms for miles, we didn't think a brioche would be suitable. When they arrived and opening the box, to our dismay they were served on a Brioche. So we alerted the member of staff and she said she will deal with it and then said she would get some bread and butter brought out to us. When it arrived my Daughter stopped it from being put on the table as the bread had green mould on all the slices. The member of staff apologised with a dismissive air and then brought another plate with more bread. It clearly was not fresh bread and possibly came out of the same loaf with the mould on it, so we decided to just eat the chips. They were more like potato wedges and would not pass for being described as chips !! Disgusting food, unhelpful staff made the whole experience miserable. We definitely will not darken it's door again. Don't waste your money. It is worse that the one star rating I have given it but the review could not be posted without giving it a star rating.

Beautiful countryside setting for this delightful hidden gem of a place. We came today for lunch and we’re seated in a gazebo type area with transparent plastic sides which let us sit in the sun without feeling the chilly February breeze. Nicely planned ! We loved the organic shop, which stocks a nice range of products. The food was served in takeaway style, with disposable cups and wrappings. This made it easy for us to clear away after ourselves and I think is a very sensible way of doing things in view of the current pandemic. I had a lovely bacon, Brie and cranberry panini, and my daughter had a very generously proportioned vegetarian breakfast bap, crammed full of delicious goodies and mum had lovely vegetable soup with nice fresh cheese and tomato sandwich. Food was reasonably priced and nice and fresh. Nice tea too! I had a very fragrant Earl grey that was a higher standard than most. A pager type device alerts you to when your food is ready to collect from the hatch, and service was very prompt indeed. A delightful first visit. Next time I would like to try the delicious looking cakes and if it ever gets warm enough, the fabulous looking ice creams! Wonderful place for kiddies, with play area and various animals to see.

I found a lovely member of staff who I had to ask to bring my order around to the front! We found this place almost by accident, and what a find! Read the reviews and a couple of them had said it was expensive, ignore these! My friend and I both had the full English breakfasts, which are priced at £7.95. All the ingredients are fresh and organic (and you can tell!). So for that price, I thought it was brilliant! You walk through a little shop to get to tables, everything is really ‘country’/rustic which I loved. You order at the till (or we did) and everything is brought over to you. It’s quiet in the nicest way, really peaceful. We went just as it opened so I imagine it gets much busier later in the day. We also didn’t do anything but eat so can’t comment on animals or other things to do. Really would recommend this cafe for breakfast; great tasting, fresh, organic food that is reasonably priced. Excellent. Already told family who live in the area to visit - hope to be back in the future to try other things on offer.

I have visited three times now and each time I am struck anew by what a gorgeous spot it is. I am local and the views of the surrounding countryside make me appreciate where I live all over again. There was more for my little one to do last year than this year, he has slightly outgrown the toddler play area now, and isn't really any older play area except for one slide, and there are also less animals there for him to look at (although I understand a fox has had a hand in this), so he did get slightly bored after being there for about an hour and talking to the Guinea pigs and chickens. The organic shop is great, we've only ever had ice creams and tea and cake in the cafe, not full meals, so can't really comment on the food, but it is a brilliant spot to buy an ice cream and sit outside looking at the view.

The views are amazing, the welcome and service in the shop/cafe very good even thought the two young ladies were very busy. The tea, carrot cake and ice cream were very good. There are lots of things for toddlers to play on but not enough for 4 years or older, just one slide - very disappointing. The farm trail looked good but as it was a hot day, yes hot in April, our 4year old didn't fancy going for a walk. Another disappointing thing were the toilets - one wet on the floor, one dirty seat and one door would not shut properly. I don't think they had been cleaned for quite a while. To end on a positive note the shop produce looked good and reasonably priced.

The food was excellent and the staff (two young ladies) were very friendly and attentive. However, our only criticism is that we were a little disappointed to find that you are not a dog friendly cafe! This is surprising especially as you market yourself as a farm shop cafe - the majority of which today are welcoming to dog owners. People only tend to take their dogs to cafes or pubs if they are good around people and well behaved. This won't necessarily put us off from returning again, but it would be beneficial for the owners of this delightful business to consider allowing dogs. Nevertheless, your staff and products are great :) Keep doing what you're doing. It is lovely to see businesses like this thriving!

The food is absolutely delicious, the lamb burgers and paninis are truly gorgeous! We've bought our Xmas tree the last couple of years and had their free range goose for Christmas dinner! The reason why I have not given 5 stars is because it lacks organisation and the staff albeit friendly don't really understand about customer service. Today there were no menus on the table, nobody came to serve us so my partner had to go into the shop to get assistance. We both wanted paninis but they didn't have any in and didn't suggest an alternative in fact gave off the impression that they didn't care whether we ate there or not! It does appear quite chaotic sometimes, a bit like the blind leading the blind and I really think with the right training and direction this little gem could be truly amazing!

Didn't realise that this place even existed. We spotted a sign as my Dad and I were out for a drive in the country. It's in a great location with fantastic views and the interior decor of the cafe has been done very tastefully keeping the character of the original building, yet promoting clean lines and a fresh look. A real shame about the coffee though, it was like tar, way too strong and really tasted like it had been in the pot since breakfast resulting in it being virtually undrinkable.

My wife an myself really like it here! We live local and is only a short drive for us. The Cafe really is in the middle of the countryside with beautiful views from the outside area. Inside is small but has a lovely relaxed feel. The food is good and reasonably priced, and a lot of the relishes etc. served with the food are available to purchase in the well stocked shop, so you can literally try before you buy!Everytime we go they seem to be making improvements, they have an outdoor area to the back now, so people can get out of the wind, if need be.Great to see a family run business do well, and we even get our Chrsitmas tree from here now too as the prices are good! Perfect!

Very nice lunch, lovely place. We had burgers and a bacon sandwich with a side order of hand cut chips. Drinks were a bit expensive, but food was good quality and worth it.

Riverside Organics is ever evolving!. They have recently renovated the shop and introduced a beautiful cafe with courtyard seating when the sun shines or plush seating indoors for the coming colder months when crusty bread and soup or bacon butties are order of the day. They have an extensive menu of local produce on offer so give it a try. There is also a secure children's play area and facilities to feed small animals which the children enjoy. And for mum, dad, gamp's and Granny a nice cup of tea and cake whilst taking in one of the best views in Cheshire.Disability Notice: due to cobbles on this old farm yard it may be difficult using a wheelchair and you need to ask for the level access door to be unlocked.

Went for breakfast and sat outside on the grass area with our dog! The breakfast was lovely.... Cooked fresh and service was quick! This place was a good find and we will certainly go again! Excellent for young children with a small play area!! This place does children's parties in a separate barn too.

We went with our 4 year old grandson and would have had an even better time if it hadn't been raining. There is lots to do, see and play with, but after getting soaking wet going down the slide, we had to try and entice grandson back indoors again. The food is good but fairly basic. We had a child's beans and sausage on toast, 2 burgers and chips, 1 veggie burger and chips, a ham salad and a bowl of soup. With drinks and 2 Ice creams, the bill came to £50. Quite reasonable, I thought.I would rate this even higher, as a trip out, but because of the rain we were unable to experience it all fully.

I've been here with my family and I would recommend it to every family with toddlers . The have a amazing play area, very good products and friendly service. The only reason why I only rate with 4 stars is because I think the restaurant needs improvement. Food was not so good as all the other things.

Visited today , for open farm sunday and had a great day out. Travelled from blackpool. Arrived around 12. Was really busy but the car park was well manned and the staff were super friendly . On arrival at the farm gates we were greeted by a tall nice gent who gave us our scavenger hunt sheets and pens and off we went. First we saw the lambs. They were really cute, we then went on to sit on the tractors, baring in mind it was free entry , we just paid for the animal food, the bouncy castle was also free. The children had great fun holding the guniea pigs and chicks. The baby tortoise was cute too. There were also craft events on and bought some lovely jam! Wed brought a picnic but the food looked and smelt delicious. You feel very welcome. We then bottle fed the lambs and everyone got to have ago. We also had a ride in a tractor. There is also a play area for kids and pigs geese goats. Plenty to do. Food reasonably priced. Great day out!

Fantastic day spent with the family, tractor ride, feeding the baby lambs, milking a cow, sitting on tractors and generally just having fun. What a brilliant day, nice to see happy smiling faces and the people who run the place should be praised for their efforts - outstanding.Even the two guys parking cars were jolly and helpful. You must visit this farm, it's a must for young families

There are 5 sections to this farm - 1. The farm shop - small but the produce is fantastic.2. The cafe - The food is gorgeous, but it does tend to take a while to get your food. The service is always very friendly though and it's reasonably priced.3. The free play area - well stocked with a variety of ride on toys and slides and some tables to watch the kids from whilst enjoying a cuppa.4. The farm - There's a barn with some goats and (at the moment) lambs in it, which our 2 year old loves. Also some guinea pigs in a hutch. Aside from the view of cows, sheep and horses in the neighbouring fields, that's pretty much it.5. The toddler farm tots classes. We haven't done these yet but have signed up on everyone's recommendations.Overall a really lovely place to take a toddler for 2-3 hours.

Visited after recommendation by a friend and so glad we did. Much more than I expected, three lovely impeccable rooms with lovely attentive waitresses. Considering the food (all organic free range) was cooked to order didn't have to wait long. Wonderful free range organic chicken burgers on lovely lightly toasted buns and fabulous home made fat chips with fluffy centres. Will definitely be visiting this venue on a regular basis.

We have visited twice in the last couple of weeks with our two girls age 6&7 for breakfast which is well cooked quality food with plenty of choice, the menu looks good for lunch and snacks too. The cakes look amazing and I can tell you the chocolate one is lovely! We also visited in the summer for ice cream and a play for the girls as they have a little area for children where they can see the rabbits and ride round on plastic cars and things! We shall be visiting more often also staff are friendly and helpful.

We visited here for some breakfast and were not disappointed at all. The food was delicious and fresh, the service was very good and the place itself was just a little dream. The menu was really varied considering the size of the place and the were a wide range of drinks on offer too. The little shop next door was full of organic produce, yet it was very affordable too. I'd definitely recommend a visit here!

unfortunately I did not get to sample any of the delights of this café - as listed by other visitors-as I had my little, quiet dog with me. in spite of the café seating area being away from foodstuffs, , I was not allowed in with her on a freezing cold day. the café was empty so I could have gone in and then left if someone came in 'frightened of dogs'. as there are absolutely NO health and safety rules regarding dogs in cafes as long as they are not in food prep areas-I have to assume the OWNER is not dog friendly. it seems a bit odd when the area is right out in the country. I was staying in the area for a month and would have loved to walk to the café every day and had lunch there-obviously it is doing so well, it doesn't need customers like me!

A tiny space but watch this space. The cafe has seating for around 6 or 8 at a push, but some nice treats. Lots of tea in a pot, and no rush. Take time to see some animals and browse the nice range of foodstuffs for sale. This little business is growing and changing all the time, so keep an eye on it.

The Riverside is located close to the River Dane with extensive view across the valley, Davenham Village and Church. It has recently had a facelift and I have to say its very classy now with lots to offer in the way of the usual organic meat and veg but now has an array of wonderful goods and nice gifts including books by local authorsand a delightful cafe area serving light refreshments.

The Woodland is close to Ellemere Port Hospital and serves for much of the day. Usual "Stonehouse" fayre. Very pleasant member of staff who checked for allergies and carried our drinks to our table as I am dodgy on my feet. We took advantage of the offer of two meals for £11.75 from a reduced menu. Pleasant food, but nothing special, except the price.

My wife and I are regular customers when we visit the retail outlet. When we were there on Wednesday 23rd October the coffee and cake was very nice but there was a cold draught coming from some of the air conditioning units. I had to move seats 3 times to get out of the cold draught. Also 3 other customers had the same problem.

My friend and I stayed here on Friday 18th October. A brilliant location just perfect, unfortunately that is the only good thing i can say about. From springs sticking out of the mattress, to faulty lights, not central light so room appears dark. However the worst is the noise, although we were told on arrival it would be a quiet night and finish early. It didn't and at 2am when the music ended the staff then made a lot of noise moving the furniture under a canopy which lasted nearly an hour. I can't believe they think people of any age would be able to sleep through such noise

Stayed here a few times. Staff very friendly. The building outside is looking a bit tired and paths and carpark could do with a clean. A few huge holes in the car park need filling as very deep. Regular free WiFi is rubbish but you can upgrade your WiFi at an extra charge but for what you pay for your room this is a bit expensive. If staying a few nights you have to request at reception if you require room service.
