Riverside Garden Centre in Southville, Bristol, offers an impressive range of plants, shrubs and associated items. Everything was well displayed and cared for - the whole operation had an upmarket feel. There was plenty of car parking. It is a convenient location being so close to the city centre. Update - Just visited again and still inspirational, even though it's the middle of winter.

I've been a customer since the 90's. Great range of plants, well set out in a lovely setting by the river. Also pots, canes, compost, seeds, garden tools, cards and books etc Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Small play area and vegetarian Cafe with lovely cakes and light meals. City location with plenty of parking, including bike racks, though it can get rammed on first weekend of spring, Easter etc. Be aware it's inside the clear air zone.

Nice array of plants but experience ruined by arrogant and unhelpful staff. Novice gardener and asked the ‘outside plant’ lady with long hair and glasses questions. She mentioned plants I haven’t heard of and asked her if she could show me where they were. She couldn’t, and then as I was walking away I heard her say loudly ‘you keep asking the same question’ and other things under her breath. My questions were varied and you have a lot of plants please be kinder to members of the public who spend over £100 at your shop - they shouldn’t expect to receive insults. Your arrogance astounded me, and please train your staff on politeness and to help customers better.

I often buy plants, particularly in the Spring, from Riverside, but want to comment on their cafe. I have been visiting this for many years, with my wife and occasionally with my children. The cafe at Riverside is brilliant. The range of lunch options and cakes are superb. Everything is well cooked and tasty and the service always friendly. Whilst the toilets are outside they are always clean too. Whilst I visit for garden - related products, if I was in the area I would go just for the cafe. It is vegetarian - only, but as a non - vergetarian I still find more than enough choice. My son and daughter are not vegans, but eat a significant amount of non - meat / non - dairy products for health reasons and this is another reason why Riverside is a great option for us.

I like this garden centre because it’s close to city centre, easy access to. It’s not big but you can find anything you need in garden. Especially for the cafe, sit outdoors and relax. I tried Chai Latte, seems too sweet for me, I will order normal coffee next time.

I enjoyed this Garden center. An out of town experience in the town. The site is well stocked and the plants are well presented and cared for as living produce rather than bulk stacked and racked until they die. Prices competative and a pleasant Cafe with equal care for humans spacing... So it's sad I can't afford to go there anymore as it is now within the CAV zone. My smelly diesal ( for which there is adequate free parking ) would cost £9 and the bus is £5 there and back again. A dissapointment for me. I hope they thrive with a flurry of Tesla drivers.

A good city location for a garden centre - with excellent advice on what grows well where. The focus here is on plants and trees, unlike some garden centres that focus on anything but plants. Valentine’s Day from hell!!! Me and my boyfriend booked to go here for Valentine’s Day. I had a reminder email on the day that we had our booking for 7:30. We drive over an hour to Bristol especially and what do we find…. The lights are off and no one’s ‘home’. We are absolutely appalled we had no communication saying they were closed, no sign on the door explaining why they weren’t open, nothing! There were 4 other couples also stood outside looking bewildered and extremely disappointed. There was no answer from the phone number on the email so we were stuck trying to find a walk in on one of the busiest days of the year for restaurants! I messaged them on Instagram, they did not reply till the next day and they said they had let customers know they were having electrical issues which is a lie because we had no such correspondence and I checked junk folder and everything. Also there were multiple other people who hadn’t been informed either so clearly they had not told people. When I tried to explain that on Instagram, they read and ignore the message and that was 5 days ago. Clearly they don’t care about customer satisfaction and don’t seem to grasp how unprofessional it is to turn up to a restaurant that as far as you are aware should be open, with Google backing that up when you look online, only to turn up to a dead restaurant. We travelled in especially and they just didn’t care. I advise you ‘scope’ out the restaurant the day before to check it is actually open.
