Food was an hour late. Person on the phone said it was because "food is cheap, driver is slow and I live far away" it's 7 minutes by car... rude, food was mediocre and expensive I wouldn't recommend

Food is disgusting and the worker is very rude, do not eat at this place, also very dirty inside not looked after.

The best fish and chips I’ve had in a long time, fish was fresh and batter beautiful and crispy, chips were out of this world the best tasting chips by far! friendly staff and excellent service.

Uk number 1 for fish and chips , not even Henrys of hunstanton comes close to this place , very polite and helpfull staff , will travel again to this chip shop

Terrible delivery service, an hour late so far and still no sign of them. We have tried to call them 15 times so far and has only been answered a few times and no one spoke to us they just ended the call after about 5 seconds.

Disgusting how they treat their customers, ordered for delivery and got yelled at and threatened by the manager.

Ordered takeaway took nearly 3 hours to arrive. Quality at best average. Please avoid save your money genuinely you would be better to open a tin of beans.

Staying up in the area so thought I would try local chippy. Horrified at the prices for a basic Fish & Chips. Local to me I pay £8.30 where's here Cod was £8.00 plus £3.00 for Chips. If I could give riverside godmanchester 0 stars, I would. Not only have they overcharged (£11 for a medium fish), but the service was slow and the fish was very very poor quality. The level of grease used is outrageous. We called the owner to complain and he bombarded us with phone calls and then finally upon answering he said to me ‘hey lady, fish is expensive’. He was an exceptionally rude man and I would avoid this place like the plague. Rude, arrogant, over priced, very poor quality food. I have serious concerns about this restaurant that they will be reported to environmental health. We were offered no refund for our troubles and I’ve never been spoken to so rudely. Please avoid this place - it is not worth your time or money.

Ordered a takeout at 6pm, arrived 2 hours later!!! (No apologies) Chicken nuggets tasted like rubber, very soggy. The crispy onion rings should be called no crisp onion rings, again soggy & very rubber like. Chips were not very nice, again incredibly soggy. The batter on the fish was revolting however the fish inside was ok. But most of it ended up in the bin as it was totally inedible, will never order from here again. This is the first time I have ever felt compelled to write a review it really was that bad!!

Absolutely wonderful fish and chip takeaway on a miserable, wet and cold late April afternoon during CoVid-19 lockdown (in case you’re wondering I’m a doctor and had just visited a patient not far away, so it was en route home). Chips were crisp on outside and soft inside. Really fresh cod - succulent and perfectly cooked. Mushy peas were good too. Extra points for the cardboard box instead of soulless, polluting polystyrene. If I could have given you six stars, I would have.

Had fish and chips here before a few years back and no fault at all. Ordered them via just eat today and they were AWFUL. Soggy batter on the fish, dry batter on the sausages, etc etc. Also, and more importantly, one of us had three mouthfuls of fish and had three HUGE bones in each mouthful. We have been using riverside fish and chips since moving here a few years ago. The food is always great and the service too. Tonight was no exception. There was a problem with our order which we were not even aware of. Not only did they phone me to let me know but replaced our food and gave us a few extras. Highly recommend.

Very slow to serve and inattentive to the customers. Food was average but large portion size. It’s a shame as it is a wonderful building in a lovely setting. Thank you but we doubt we will be back.

Been there a couple of times, always a last resort chippy in Huntingdon for me. Food very average, place doesn't enthuse me of cleanliness, very lacklustre service.

What can I say, we enjoy the pizza, we enjoy the shish kebab, we enjoy the fish and chips. Great for an impromptus picnic across the road or for a sit down fish supper too.

We visited this place yesterday evening, we walked in and were served relatively quickly, however, the staff were not very friendly. We live locally and when we got home (about 2 minutes away) we were disappointed to find that our fish was cold and the batter remained stuck to the paper. The chips were good and still piping hot but we ended up leaving our cod. We will not be returning here or if we do (as it’s our local) it definitely won’t be for the cod. For peak time on a Friday night, especially, we expected freshly cooked, or at least hot, fish and chips.

We decided to stop in Godmanchester from Yorkshire back home in the South. Tried the pub for a snack but they didn't serve food so we plumped for the fish & chip shop.

Quint little place we visited whilst staying at Wyton Lakes Holiday Park. Managed to park the motorhome outside. This fish n chip shop was a lovely find which I ordered a takeaway. Really great place and would come again.

We keep going to the Riverside every week about Fourteen of of us there's a good veritable menu not just fish the foods good service good and the wines cheap overall value for money.

This restaurant is average ,can't say that the food is bad but definitely not anything special .the fish is often cooked fresh as you order but it's quite thin and not big chunky flakes like others and sometimes there seems to be very thick batter which is often quite greasy .

Bought good-sized portions of fish and chips and enjoyed them sitting by the river in Godmanchester on a beautiful summer's evening.

Long wait for average food - bloke who I think owns it is pretty rude - better chippys in Huntingdon - won't be going back.

We moved to the Huntingdon area about 7 months ago and are still looking for a good fish and chip shop when we drove past the Riverside Fish and Chip shop and thought we would give it a try.

Our family love it here - they do more than just fish and chips so the whole family is catered for and the food is a good quality. Yes if there's a big queue you may have to wait but it's great to eat in and just look out over the causeway or in better weather have a takeaway and sit outside over the bridge and watch the world go bye (especially if kids want to play the play ground!)

Having used Riverside for take-aways and dining in for many years we were disappointed with a recent take-away.

Wanted to eat in so sat at one of the tables. It was very busy so after 20 minutes I went up to the counter to order as noone was available to come to the table. Now this I'm not bothered about, it was busy so no problem. However what I do have a problem with is then getting a funny look, having to wait a further five minutes to order (I was at the front) and then the guy tried to take the order of the man behind me who had just walked in. Then we had to wait another 25 minutes (within which time the takeaway had got quieter) and still no food. The final straw was when a group walked in and sat down and had food within minutes. This is clearly a locals only kind of place. Can't comment on the quality of the food but the couple beside us didn't seem too thrilled with it. We walked out and went to Barney's Plaice and had some lovely food instead.

We go weekly and have done since they opened in 2003 so you could say we are regulars. We like their Kebabs and as I cant eat fish I have a pie or sausage rarely can one complain about a wait despite the popularity at weekends. The seating gives room for small parties we have had 14 people on one birthday celebration. I have found a change of staff and that might explain the poor report from STAN HESKETH 1 above If you have reason to complain better to do it there and then gives them a chance to correct it.

Recently moved to godmanchester and got fish and Chips on move in night, very nice lovely fish and chips not too greasy very pleased to have a good chippy in our new home.

Where would we be without the good old Fish and Chip Shop? Having used this establishment for years I have never had a bad experience here. It also does the usual extras and additions including pizzas and Donner Kebab. Eat in the small restaurant with a bottle of wine or takeaway.

Eaten many times as take away. The food is fresh and what you'd expect from a local business. There can sometimes be a little wait if ordering something from the menu that is less popular.

Purchased a selection of food using the takeaway service. Chips were spot on, good quality. Donner kebab meat was not! Some burnt, others greasy. Pizza was very odd in flavour. A small chicken kebab is very small! Burger was ok. Think if I return I will stick to fish and chips!

This is a really nice fish and chip shop. We have been going there for years and it never disappoints. The fish lovely and fresh and cooked to perfection. If you eat in the small restaurant section it's comfortable and service usually quite fast. They do lots of other meals pizza etc so suits most tastes.

Stopped off here to buy chips. They were made from potatoes and deep fried. Available in small or large portions, I chose large as sharing with my brother. They included salt and vinegar at no extra cost. They tasted nice enough but nothing special. The place was clean but owner a bit on the miserable side, maybe because all I wanted was chips. Would go again and maybe even try a pickled egg next time.

We go the this fish restaurant every Thursday Sammys left and his Uncle is running it the service is excellent never had a bad meal allways hot and well cooked great variety of fish chicken and more and it's not expensive plus you can get a beer or wine.

People have been telling my wife and I that Riverside is one of the best fish and chips places in the St Neots-Huntingdon area, and now we know that it really is. Super crisp fish, although the chips could have used just a little more time in the fryer. Menu is strangely al la carte, but a lot to offer like kebabs, doners, and pizza, and even burgers. What's more, both of us felt fine all day, which was not the result following my last couple of fish and chip samplings. Great place for the area.
