Riverside Chinese Takeaway in Northumberland

Ordered take away, Beautiful food, best special fried rice I’ve ever tasted, arrived early ,red hot food, delivery man was really nice and chatty

We had a mixed starter and noodles. The starters were overcooked, samosas and spring rolls had no discernible filling and, unlike a previous review, the skewers with plasticky pre-formed chicken and thick brown sauce were definitely not to our taste. There was also a chemically tasting watery sauce (sweet and sour?) with a strange gluey lump in it. The noodle dishes were a brown, sticky mess with large lumps of bland tasting meat. No sign of crisp stir fried vegetables Sadly, all went straight into the bin. First bad review I have ever posted but we both make and eat a lot of Chinese food and this was by far the worst meal we have ever encountered. On a positive note it was all very hot, huge portions and it was very reasonably priced so maybe you get what you pay for.

Best chinese takeaway in the area, So good used it a second time. Loved all the food especially roast duck and pineapple and satay chicken on skewers

This was my first visit to this Takeaway and it wont be my last. The service was quick and friendly and the meals were excellent. Sweet and sour chicken was still hot when I got home and there were very generous quantities of chicken. My wife had a Special curry and again, very generous quantities of meat. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals and the price was very cheap compared with other Takeaway's in the area.

Pre-ordered food for 12 people. Food came exactly on time and it was absolutely gorgeous! Everyone's meals were so lovely. Would definitely order from here again. Thank you!

Absolutely amazing Chinese. Food tasted fantastic one of the best Chinese we've ever had, full of flavour and get a lot for your money. We were even given free food with our order. Would highly recommend this place Menu is also attached as we couldn't find a menu anywhere.

The freeman is very kind and the food is fresh and delicious.I recommend that every one should go to riverside at Lynemouth.

Ordered to our caravan site. Delivery was on time and the food was delicious. Plenty left for the following day and tasted just as nice reheated. Will be ordering next time we come and hopefully will have the same experience 👍

A great Chinese on our doorstep, our regular. The salt and pepper crispy prawns is my favourite. Clean place too.

I used to live in Lynemouth and enjoyed the food here very much, so much so I travel 45 miles to enjoy one as often as I can. My local restaurants do not compare- good food, large portions and excellent service.

This is a great Chinese takeaway. Been using it for years and never had cause to complain. The continuous stream of local customers is a good indication of its popularity and sustained quality. Good food, good portions and friendly service. Nothing more to say really.

We had a delivery of 10 meals for our extended family. While none of it was bad ,it wasn't exactly great either. I wouldn't have known my meal was a Sweet and Sour if it didn't say so on the wrapping - it tasted okay, but was not what was expected. The curries ordered were very yellow and very mild. Lots of free prawn crackers though! For the 10 meals- including rice - the bill was only £76, which is pretty good value compared to my local back home. However, as the overall family rating was "distinctly average" I wouldn't have minded paying a little more for a more flavoursome meal.

We were staying in the village of Cresswell and Lynemouth was the nearest place for some Chinese food that we could find so we thought we would give this place a try. We ordered 3 meals from this place. A Chicken Curry, Chicken in Blackbean and Beef Satay, with each dish costing c.£7. I requested the Chicken Curry to be made spicy (just a personal preference) but maybe they forgot to add the chili as the curry was very mild. The curry sauce was rather watery and the chicken most certainly did not taste fresh but tasted frozen. The Chicken Blackbean had a salty taste and again, the chicken tasted frozen. On the positive side, there was a nice amount of veg (peppers and onions) and they were nice and crunchy. The Beef Satay was marginally better, although there was a distinct lack of beef. There are takeaways / restaurants in Ashington just s few miles further so I will try one of them next time.

We had beef chow mien, singapore chow mien, fried rice and some curry sauce. Star of the show was the beef chow mien. Fantastic food and hot. Will be back.

We were on our holidays in Ashington, I looked up Chinese restaurants on trip advisor to see which in the vicinity had the best reviews, riverside Chinese seemed to be well liked so we thought we should give it a go. The wait time for our food was nice and quick, the price was very reasonable ( far cheaper than a chinese costs us here in Aviemore ) and the food itself was rather tasty, all 4 of us ( 2 adults and 2 children.) really enjoyed our meal. Thankyou

Enjoyed a selection of meals from Riverside Chinese. All were consumed without a single complaint, I can recommend the chicken satay.

i have been going here for 2 years but my girlfriend has been going there most of her life due to living close by when she was little (she is now 26). we do not eat here much but when we have we have never had a bad meal from here the owner is friendly and very helpful. would highly recommend this to anyone to give it a try you will not be disappointed.

Always reliable for good Chinese food, we use fairly regularly and are never disappointed. Usual menu and reasonable prices.

Been meaning to call into here for ages and so glad we did. Loved every bit of our meal even the breakfast leftovers. Clean, friendly and good food at a good price.

Would definately recommend very reasonable and really nice chinese food could maybe have done witha menu online but not really a problem as everything we ordered they had.

Saturday night take away, what more could you ask for, phone in order and either pick up or delivery is very quick

We went on holiday and stayed at a local holiday home in nearby Cresswell for a week over New Year and the owners of the property recommended this Chinese so we ordered on the first night after our 4 hour drive. We ordered food for 13 with a couple of suggestions from the takeaway owner and it was delivered within the time limit specified and was all lovely.......highly recommend !

Staff are always friendly the food is well priced and have never had any issues with any food purchased here, used countless times

Standard chinese takeway food, very surprising considering its location on a run down street in a run down town.

This is amongst the best local Chinese takeaways that we have visited.

We are regular users of the riverside and once again we were not disappointed spring rolls are Devine and the duck pancakes are out of this world defiantly my favourite. Lots of chicken dishes for the children to try. We use the delivery service always piping hot thanks guys

We were in the area and found this Chinese tucked away on a side street in the town-hamlet of Lynemouth less than a mile away from the seaside. Venturing in there were no menus, no online presence so can't share what dishes are available, and parking-access is a mare , it's a little pricey for a takeaway but competitive for the area, which are the only reason I have down graded it. The food itself was hot and tasty and arrived quickly. Service was excellent. So if like us you fancy a Chinese picnic with a view overlooking the sea at Druridge Bay then persevere go. You wont be disappointed.
