Chicken was chewy, prawn crackers were stale, rice was all clumped together, and the chips tasted like they had been reheated. Only positive was it was delivered quickly. First time ordered from here and won’t be back

Bit of an odd spot, at the top of a set of stairs and more functional than decorative, but can't fault the service or the food which is varied, plentiful and very tasty. Excellent value for money and liked by all the family

Tbh I didn't know this was all you can eat Chinese, but we sat down, got some drinks and ordered food, you order starter's, I had the hot and sour soup then with some salt and chilli spare ribs, my family also order a selection of starters that all come on a big platter that sits in the middle of the table, the table has a lazy Susan so you spin it around and everyone has a sample of different dishes, ribs were good, the smokey chicken was wonderfull, chicken skewers surprisingly not dry, wontons crisp and a non stop conveyor belt of prawn crackers, once you order mains you can't go back and order starter's, I suppose that makes sense so nothing gets muddled up at the table, for mains I got the beef and onions, dishes around the table, sweet and sour chicken, chicken in black bean, chicken with garlic and ginger, a beef curry and a few other things all come over with a big bowl of fried rice to share, again, I spun the table around to sample every dish, all dishes were good, nothing that blew my socks off but all just good, the beef in my dish and in the curry I will say was a little tough and a bit of a struggle to eat, at £21:95 pp I think that's really good value for money and will definitely visit again.

The service we received was abrupt and rude from the more senior staff, and we felt like an inconvenience at times even though this was meant to be my birthday celebration. I hope you will review your customer service going forward!!! Food was excellent.

Very disappointed as this was my favourite restaurant some of the mains were terrible and got sent back then to order a coke and be giving a double Bacardi and coke which being very thirsty i drank in one before realising which had been sent to the wrong table as I am not well and on a lot of medication this is so dangerous and it seemed nobody was bothered about it !! this drink could of been handed to a child.

We decided to try this place as we usually go to Stowell street and wanted a change. I booked the table and a £30 deposit was requested. There were 7 of us and we all really enjoyed the buffet with duck starter (which was table service). All the food was delicious and the staff were friendly. The deco could do with some improvements but did not detract from our experience. We were told we could have 1 starter each or a mixed platter. The mixed platter is a good idea to have a bit of everything the chicken skewers and bbq chicken were delicious. You can then have more starters (if all eaten). We had a good range of main meals which included king prawns and chicken dishes. I can honestly say all were lovely. We had a range of drinks including wine, beer and soft drinks (limited, but satisfactory). I would definitely recommend it and come again. 20% service charge was added to the bill.

The staff were great, super fast and efficient and polite. Was quite expensive for what we were after but we still enjoyed it a lot. Soup was delicious, starters were filling but nice. The mains were lovely too. Far too much food but good quality. Would rather pay a little less and get less food but that's just our opinion. We even got to see Declan Donnelly collect his take away.

Haven't been for a while, but great to be back. Lovely food and lovely staff/service. Your barbecue spare ribs were always my favourite starter, and they still are. They are amazing. The mains were tasty and fresh and so enjoyable. Many thanks for lovely evening.

We’ve been meaning to come here as it gets recommended on the Newcastle Foodie page on Facebook quite a lot. We were intrigued by the concept of the ‘All You Can Eat’ and we both had an amazing time. We both said we would absolutely go back as every dish was delicious. The staff were all also very friendly.

Great value and brilliant table service from the staff, very attentive and friendly. Kids were made to feel specially welcome. Parking is not great with time limits on some areas. Would have been five star if the welcome would have been a warmer one, and not “your late” from the lady upon arrival. Good is good though and we will return.

Took advantage of the all you can eat dining menu. All of the food was served hot and very tasty. The staff were very polite and very attentive. Only problem is the lack of parking nearby.

We eat here a lot being local and have never ever had a bad meal. The food is always spot on, fresh hot and tasty and we absolutely love everything about princess gardens. I don't usually take the Time to review as live a very busy life however wanted to shout out to one particular waiter we had last night (apologies we don't know his name) who was absolutely excellent especially with our 7 month old daughter who as you can appreciate is a little impatient in restaurants. We had a good chat about his 6 year old daughter and shared experiences especially as we are relatively new parents. He made the effort to play games and interact with our baby who absolutely loves attention. He really made our experienced relaxed and was very attentive so thank you 😊

As a family we have wanted to try this place out for some time now due to all the great reviews we have had and read about.... Don't believe the hype!!!!. Restaurant itself was very pleasant but a birthday treat was spoiled by slow service and low quality food. Tuesday night, restaurant was not at all busy only 2 other tables occupied . Our party of 5 were served drinks quickly. starters also arrived promptly but main courses took a lot longer with some taking up to 40mins . To top everything off a few days later we received a parking fine for exceeding the time limit in the car park but in all honesty it is unavoidable due to the time it takes for them to bring your food and eat it .

This was our first visit and it won't be our last. The welcome was warm, the food delicious and I would thoroughly recommend this place to anyone.

Disappointing experience due to the service and constant introduction of new rules through the meal. The concept is a buffet at your table, but as we found out you can only order one portion at once, so unlike most buffets where you can try different flavours together, this concept forces you to eat a full course before then waiting 10 minutes for the next. Naturally you don’t end up ordering as much food or trying half the things you wanted to. Likewise, when we asked for some spring rolls alongside our main we were told this was not allowed as we’d moved onto our mains. And that extra sauces were an additional charge. The food was OK when it arrived but we twice had to go up to the bar to order more food as the waiting staff spent most of their away from the restaurant floor - typically having 6 people behind the bar and 1 bringing food out and repeatedly apologising for the delays. Maybe on another night things would be better, but if you’re going to have such strict rules then these need to be explained to customers long before they’re onto their main courses.

Never heard the response to an allergy concern query be "have you got your EpiPen?" Safe to say, wasn't filled with confidence so our group swiftly exited. When the booking was made, we were very clear about one of our party having these concerns. No response was received from the restaurant so thought maybe it's a mention it on the day type of scenario. Could've at least responded saying that all the food is cooked in the same oil and saved us the trip. Not impressed, I'm not expecting every need to be catered for but some communication would've been appreciated. Will be steering well clear. I ain't even got allergies but the whole, "everything is cooked together" put me right off

Looked everywhere for a decent smoked Chicken after trying the dish with family in Northampton and I was failing until a friend recommended Princess Gardens in Ponteland, I will definitely be back 😀 great food and excellent friendly service (take away) will be booking a table for friends next time.

My partner wasn’t even in from work when it arrived that’s why we stayed a time.

First time trying here. Was lovely staff really friendly and the food was lush ! Restaurant was full when we arrived we had pre booked , so would advise to book in advance especially for a weekend. Loads of dishes to try and as long as you finish your plate you can order more. The smoked chicken was outstanding, Tried 3-4 dishes from the appetisers and mains. Really good value for the price . Will definitely be back !

Had beef chow mein and chicken chow mein and salt and pepper chips. Not much meat in them both, mostly veg and average taste. Chips were bland and tasted reheated. Only used as our Chinese was closed. Won't use again.

Always lovely food, sometimes late when they’re busy at weekends but we don’t even mind as it’s so good! Good communication. Delivery driver is always so friendly and explains why late if needed. Once you order here you honestly won’t go anywhere else! Fresh, delicious, non-greasy food every single time.

We have been here numerous times now and have never been disappointed. The food was amazing and there was plenty of it! We had a member of the party who was vegan and they catered well for her. Can’t thank the manageress and young members of staff enough, they couldn’t do enough and were always checking if we were alright.

Buffet is great value and the food was amazing! Will definitely be back again soon!

This is by far the best Chinese restaurant that I have ever been to. The food, the service and everything about it was brilliant. The waiting staff are fantastic and nothing is too much trouble for them and they are genuine people who work extremely hard. I would have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant to anyone and I can't wait to go back again. The barbecue ribs are superb by the way.

I was back in the UK 2 weeks ago, on my last Monday we went to the Princess Garden for dinner, we had tried calling to book but had a problem with our phones and we couldn't get through. However as we were flying out the following day we thought we would go early and wouldn't have a problem! We got there at 6.30pm and the restaurant was packed! The girl on the desk at entry was lovely! Spoke to her manager who asked if we would mind having a small table,we said that wouldn't be a problem. They asked if we would mind having a drink in the bar while they got the table ready. They promptly bought out prawn crackers for us to have with our drinks while they prepared the table. Another larger table left earlier than expected and as this was a larger table they quickly prepared the table for us. The service was fabulous! The food delicious! Have to say we had been back in the UK for 6 weeks and my husband had said he wanted to go for a Chinese sit in meal before we left, hence this was our last night! I wish it had been our first as we would have been every week that we were home! Fantastic service! Delicious food! Dreaming of next year when I will be back on holiday! Thank you for a fabulous last night!

We ordered quarter duck - very dry and overcooked, the cucumber & spring onions that accompanied the dish were slimy. Salt & Pepper ribs - full of gristle and got left. Sweet & sour chicken - tasted of vinegar and was inedible. Salt & Pepper chips were stale & appeared to have been reheated. First and last time at this place, total waste of money…. avoid!! When I rang up to speak to the manager I was told ‘sorry about that’ and then quickly hung up on, not the most sincere of apologies.

Food amazing as always! can’t fault the food however the curry sauce which is the main part of my Chinese has changed from what it used to be like it seems oily and a brown colour too to the edges of the tub like gravy or excess oil or something hopefully just a one off on this occasion.

Food was inedible. Chicken was dry bits of foamy cardboard. Beef and black bean was like brown bog water. It had definitely all been microwaved to reheat. Yuk. I’m actually shocked at the good reviews. The New Rendezvous down the road is millions better than this place.

I ordered from here two nights ago, they charged me £22. Said my order will be delivered at 23:15. I didn't receive my order at all, tried to call the restaurant and they closed at 23:00. I've still yet to get my refund from them

Chicken chow mein was awful. Chicken had a spongey middle and mainly veg, very few noodles. Won tons were 95% burnt rolled up pastry. Very expensive and very disappointing.

Got a set meal for two (Beijing banquet). The soup was nice. The chicken skewers and ribs were so dry it was unedable. The seaweed and prawn toast is soft and not crispy as it should be. The beef and black bean is nice but nothing special. The sweet and sour chicken was absolutely terrible. Special rice was nice but again nothing special. The spring rolls were very greasy and stodgy. If it cost £20 and not £53 I would have let it go and avoided them in the future. However it was £53 and we thought for that price we were going to get something special. That is why I felt the need to post an honest review about how bad it was. This is the first time I have ever done a review. I will never go back to Princess garden, Ponteland. Ever
