Rendezvous in Northumberland

Food was very good but delivery window given as 7.20 to 7.40 and it arrived at 7.55. Restaurant is 5 mins away.

other than the soup the whole meal was delivered cold. we live a 2 minute drive from the restaurant. not impressed.

Food was much nicer than expected! Wasn't too keen on the egg fried rice or thai chicken- both tasted like microwaved ready meals. But the prawn and seaweed, the beef udon and the dim sum were all fabulous. Thank you!

This restaurant used to be number one but not now the food was below average and the staff didn’t control at all bunch of load overbearing customers. Kevin the previous owner would be horrified.

Had an absolutely lovely meal here, can't recommend it enough. The staff were so lovely and couldn't do enough for us, they really looked after us. Had lots of vegetarian options on the menu, such as salt and pepper mushrooms and tofu dishes. The restaurant was lovely, decorated nicely and had a warm family feeling inside.

Extremely tasty food and ready exactly on time. Very friendly staff. Would definitely order again.

Xmas music very loud could not hold a normal conversation over a table of four it was so loud !

been there at least 6 - 8 times always had good food, The staff were very frendly and lovley atmosphere with good service. Had starter and main with rice and bottle of wine good vaule for money. Would definitely recommend and will be back again soon.

A group of 11 of us, no where near enough food, very rude staff, near enough shouted at us while he took our orders. Bad service and very overpriced for the minuscule amount of food we had

Asked if myself and partner could eat a main with rice each, considering he had a fish based meal and I had a chicken one, thought twice thinking possibly it too much, nope went home hungry as I couldn’t eat fish based rice with my chicken dish, won’t be going back

Salt and pepper chips were literally standard chips that were like cardboard with about 4 pieces of onion in. Salt and pepper chicken was the same. Hardly any flavor. Ordered from here multiple times and usually spot on but must have a different chef on. Very expensive foe the quality we received

The best Chinese outside town centre. Had seaweed, honey ribs, s&p chips, shredded beef Cantonese, rice and curry.. everything was unbelievably good. 12/10

Superb takeaway. We ordered it and it was delivered promptly. The food was delicious ( probably the best I've ever had) There was excellent communication and the lady delivering the , phoned as she approached the house to clarify the directions( it's a new estate) Will use again

Enjoyed the food. Prices are high but the quality of the food is amazing so I think the prices are reasonable for what you get. Not just your usual Chinese restaurant options (including lots of seafood options) which is nice. Service was good but I dont like the 10% service charge being added to the bill. I want to have the option to tip as and when I want and dont like restuarants who automatically add a service charge. I think lots of people probably just pay it as they feel awkward asking for it to be removed but this would make me think twice about coming here again which is a shame as the food is really good

Best Chinese food in the North East.

My first visit as I've just moved into the area. Absolutely delicious! I will be back regularly. Just to say I have been back about half a dozen times since the first review and my opinion hasn't changed. Great food.

I'm not really a fan of Chinese food, but this was a nice experience.

My friend and I shared a delicious meal last night at this restaurant. We had the Rendezvous Banquet for two and the food was superb. The service was excellent too and I was relieved to find the tables at a good distance and a request to wear a mask when entering the restaurant. A very enjoyable experience.

Fuimos a The Rendezvous anoche y esta fue la mejor comida china que he tenido en años. El personal fue muy amable, en particular "Dave", que fue muy servicial. Definitivamente voy a comer aquí de nuevo.

Fuimos aquí ayer por la noche para mi cumpleaños, comida increíble como siempre, si quieres una cena de 5 estrellas, entonces este es el lugar para cenar. El personal era muy amable y disfrutamos de nuestra noche.

He estado aquí muchas veces para llevar y nunca decepciona. La comida siempre está caliente, recién preparada y siempre con buenas raciones, de hecho, solo tenemos un plato principal entre 2 de nosotros ya que tenemos pato aromático para comenzar el 99% del tiempo. Si quieres comida china sabrosa y fresca, ¡Rendezvous no decepcionará!

A pesar de que la comida está absolutamente bien. . . ODIO, ODIO, ODIO este restaurante! ! El lugar es acogedor y está bien presentado. Como era Darras Hall New Rendezvous. Pero, encuentro a la gente pretenciosa, con un enfoque adulador hacia sus clientes "famosos". Mi última visita a The New Rendezvous fue arruinada por la mala gestión del restaurante, la falta de respeto y la cortesía común con total desprecio del hecho de que se había realizado una reserva de larga data. Mi fiesta y yo estuvimos allí para celebrar una ocasión especial, que fue arruinada debido a nuestra experiencia. Es desafortunado, porque la comida que se sirve es sabrosa y auténtica. Siempre he disfrutado su menú. Sin embargo, preferiría arrancar mis globos oculares con una cuchara que gastar otro centavo de mi efectivo duramente ganado en The New Rendezvous.

We had a nice enough meal on Saturday night but the problem I had was that when I asked for the bill, instead of getting an itemised print out, I got a receipt with a scribble on it and the total cost written next to it - I could have been paying for anything and it wouldn't have been the first time that I had paid for someone else's wine! For this reason alone, I won't be returning.

This is an old blacksmiths shop and is now a Chinese restaurant serving delicious Chinese food. Small area where you can take a drink, look at the menu and eat some prawn crackers towards the back of the restaurant. There is then a small back room where you eat or the main restaurant area - either are fine although the tables are close together as the overall size is not huge. However, the food is very good and service is too. The only slight niggle is that we booked a table for 815pm and felt slightly rushed as though staff were keen to get us all out as by the time we finished there was not really time for another sitting. You cannot really go wrong choosing this restaurant if Chinese food takes your fancy and you are prepared to pay a small premium to enjoy good food. Wine bottle prices are reasonable.

Smashing food and staff were great - prices very fair and the Diamond inn topped it of with a great stay - you should try it, as it was great pity the old man had to return to Paris but hey ho it was a good night.

We have been going to the Rendezvous for 25 years and it is excellent every time - there are not that many restaurants where you get a consistently excellent experience. The service is great, although you might have to wait a bit longer to get seated on a Saturday night, they always seem to find you a table and the food is delicious. Kevin is always very welcoming and the menu covers a vast range of dishes - the Beef in Black Bean Sauce is our favourite. They do take away as well which works out quite expensive but it is worth it.

Prawn cocktail hardly any Marie Rose sauce, dry bread, garnish too big then given knife and fork to try and eat it out of a glass. Linguini bolognaise bland, very bland. Drink arrived just left on table not even a little poured out for us. Side order was forgotten and we had to ask for it. . Then awful smell of smoke, it was drifting in from outside. They gave us a complimentary drink each. We have had nice meals here before but tonight was a let down.

Food OK but Mandarin Bay much better. Food here more expensive, not as good and not the same quantity. Would probably not return.

The New Rendezvous does not have the same atmosphere as the 'old' one, but I always enjoy dining there. Kevin always greets you warmly and is very attentive. Food is lovely, especially the duck pancakes, anything in plum sauce and the lemon chicken! Still a favourite!

Kevin has moved on from his successful New rendezvous on Darras hall into the village. I like the location and the food is as good as ever, but, for me the atmosphere is not the same. Probably just too many happy memories of the previous restaurant. Can recommend the salt and pepper king prawns or fish!
