Nice place nice food, nice staff.

I don’t ever leave reviews for anywhere but we were so disappointed with this meal. Just had a takeaway from here £28 for chicken fried rice, crispy beef, chips and a salt and pepper chips. Prawn crackers were stale. The rice was inedible tasted dry and like it had been recooked, I’ve never tasted a chicken fried rice like that I could not eat more than a few mouthfuls, what a waste of hard earned money.

Have eaten at this restaurant many times over the years. However we will not be eating there again. Our last meal was the second unacceptable one we have had. The starters for two were inadequate and expensive. The main course was in gravy instead of sate sauce and the rice was nearly inedible. All in all an expensive waste of money.

Just excellent, looked closed from the outside because the downstairs business was shut up but don’t be fooled - it was really good

While I didn’t get a scone, I did get a barrel of laughs from our waiter, very funny man and should be proud of his welcoming positive attitude

Really enjoyed the food. I'm really picky about the quality of the meat I eat (I hate fat and gristle) but found the sizzling steak dish amazing - so good in fact that I was back within a month for more!

Sadly, not the nicest Chinese I’ve had. Lacked much flavour and the prices were very high. I had my food as takeaway. The restaurant was undergoing refurbishment so I’m not sure if this impacted and maybe they weren’t operating to normal standards.

Salt and pepper squid was well cooked. The main character Sui pork was very dry and the vegetables stir fry was tasty but in a stodgy sauce. Good flavours with lots of room for improvement

I ate there yesterday Saturday 08/06/24 18.15. I ordered salt, pepper and chilli king prawns for a starter they were hot and delicious. For a main course I ordered roast duck in plum sauce, it was hot and delicious. Also Singapore noodles with no mammal meat, chicken, prawns and vegetables only. It was hot and delicious. Portion sizes were good and quality excellent. Service was friendly, efficient and professional. There was no service charge automatically added so I left a 10% tip. I can highly recommend the Mulan for a pleasurable eating experience.

The food here is amazing, I've been going here for many many years and the food is always fantastic.

Staff friendly enough however thats where it ends.. food is mediocre at best, and that's being complimentary.. The place seems a bit tired and run down, including the food. Won't be returning, am afraid. 😐

we had been let down by the restaurant we had booked into and rang the Mulan late in a Friday evening very hungry! They were very helpful and fitted us in, served us very quickly and the food was fantastic! Service was great

Three of us went here on Sunday night. We chose it because it is one of the few restaurants in Morpeth that is wheelchair friendly, and because it was open on Sunday evenings. It was absolutely fantastic! Nice decor, very efficient and pleasant staff, great menu choices and really excellent food. We all thoroughly enjoyed our evening, and would certainly recommend and return to this restaurant.

Great food good service fair price

Not the best experience we have had the food was OK but a bit bland. I had to keep asking for cutlery. The place is a little dated and it was cold with no ambience and you could hear everyones conversations as we were about to start are mains I asked for some water, when I started to drink from it my wife noticed a very small fly inside the glass. We left are meal as this was very disappointing to see. We explained to the front of desk the young man was very negative and was so unhelpful, I did say I was unwilling to pay the full bill he threatened to call the police several times. We ended up paying over £60 we will not be back.

Absolutely stay away, visited this restaurant this evening… after entering the restaurant we were seated, the restaurant was freezing cold on a wet night, no background music you could hear everyone’s conversations, however we opted for Banquet menu A .. I did think it was really weird by having paper tablecloths! Each course as you can imagine was just getting worse it terms of spillage .. was not changed once.. no table settings on the table?? A set of chopsticks each .. 3 times I had to ask for cutlery .. of poor condition the food was cold and tasteless and the worst they brought is water with flys in .. this was before the main course which we then could not eat due to the fact we had been drinking water with flys in and had not realised… to avoid the guests knowing our problems we went to see a so called Manager in the reception part of the restaurant so guests could no hear our disappointing experience… he was really negative and said you have to pay for your meal??? We were never not going to pay for the meal but was unconcerned about flys in the water, cold and poor quality food all he kept saying are you threatening me??? Turned out where he was not interested other than payment I fix pay and left but let me tell you don’t go it’s disgusting no ambience, and no clue how to overcome customer experiences .. I will never be back disgusting

Great food, lovely staff and nice view! We visited Mulan last month on a kind of last minute date night! The food was fresh and tasted great. The prawns in plum sauce are amazing! The portions were great. In terms of price is a bit on the high end side but worth it. Definitely we will visit again on another special occasion.

What a wonderful family meal. My husband and I took our two children for a meal last night and it was genuinely faultless. The service was amazing, they were so friendly and incredible with our children too. The food was absolutely amazing especially the salt and pepper prawns!!! All four of us had such an enjoyable evening. We will absolutely be back and this will now be a regular of ours. Seriously just couldn’t fault it. Thank you again for such a lovely night and to the wonderful staff.

I took my husband there for is 81st birthday had a delicious meal and staff were so friendly . Not cheap but good quality and worth paying extra .

Mulan is a little out of the town centre, but it’s well worth a visit. We received a very friendly greeting and the generous helpings of food were to a very good standard.

We had a wonderful meal while holidaying in Northumberland. The service was great, very friendly and accommodating. The staff were very engaging with the children which is always lovely. The food was delicious and the portions were very generous. We all thoroughly enjoyed our experience and would definitely recommend and revisit.

We went as a big family group for my partner's 50th birthday, Mukan staff were absolutely brilliant very efficient and the food was delicious great atmosphere will recommend this place.

Went on a date with my partner. Staff were incredibly helpful and professional, but still managed to be very friendly and not stiff. Food was amazing, all hot and flavoured perfectly, can't wait to have it again! We had the set menus for both appetisers and mains and cannot reccomend enough.

Popped in with my 7 year old daughter for a quick lunch. It was a delight from start to finish. The food was delicious, fresh and very reasonably priced. The set menu for lunch had some good options. My friends and I had a meal here tonight. The food was absolutely delicious and the waiters were attentive and friendly. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

I have been coming to Mulan since it opened. The food used to be amazing. However, tonight we turned up at 8:20pm and was informed the restaurant closed at 10pm. We were advised of the closing time when we booked, which made us feel uncomfortable, but were assured it wasnt a problem. We made a complaint about the food in general after sampling a few dishes that were brought out. We felt the food was rushed, the ribs were majority bones, fatty and chewy, beef and chicken was also chewy and dry and not acceptable, (most likely reheated) Duck was certainly CRISPY, Shocking. Chips smelled like burnt oil. When making our complaint, I was accused that we'd lied about the food quality for a discount because we had ordered too much food and couldnt eat it alI???? (speechless) Secondly, told in an aggressive manner to pay my bill and leave! We will not be returning!!!! It was concluded by a member of staff saying 'THEY WERE STRUGGLING' And 'WE HAD WASTED THEIR STOCK' I appreciate that we are all sturggling with ths cost of living, but when charged well over a £100 for food you dont expect abuse for consructive critism for 'wasting kitchen stock' WE WILL NOT BE RETURNING. ABSOLUTELY SHOCKED WITH OUR SERVICE FROM MULAN AND IT WAS FOR MY WIFES BIRTHDAY WHICH LEFT HER IN TEARS. 0 STARS TONIGHT! This place is struggling due to the cost of living and I feel very sorry for them as theybwere sucj an amzing place to eat, I blame the government!!!!!!! I really hope this place gets better and redeems itself.

After a very disappointing experience in a local restaurant we rang mulan at 9.00 pm on Saturday night to ask if they could help us and more importantly feed us. They were very helpful and able to seat us immediately (knowing how hungry we were) they served us very quickly the food was super, service was fantastic and the whole atmosphere of the restaurant was excellent. It was well priced excellent quality thank you .

I ate here last night and the food was very average-poor. The Pak choi had that gloopy sauce on it that you sometimes get in UK Chinese and it seemed like they just used the same sauce for the chow mein. It didn't have chow mein sauce so I had to make some when I got home as it tasted plain. Portions are small , beef was grey and it's expensive. I'm afraid I won't bother going here again. Maybe the chef has changed as it used to be very good? The hot and sour soup was very nice, the ribs were ok just a very small portion. Let down by chow mein and Pak choi sauces.

A party of 7 of us visited Mulan for my 60th birthday. Service was absolutely brilliant. The food was hot, plentiful and really tasty. We enjoyed banquet B . If there's something that you don't like on the banquet staff are happy to swap out things. As stated earlier, service was really good,we didn't have to wait long for the food arriving at the table. As the staff knew that it was my birthday an ice cream dessert complete with candle was bought out for me. A lovely touch which I greatly appreciated. We shall be returning to eat here again.

I haven’t been to this restaurant in years and it certainly did not disappoint! After only calling to book half an hour before our table was ready on arrival, staff were so attentive and friendly and the food came so quick! Portions were huge and delicious! Great price aswell!

I keep trying to find a good Chinese/Thai restaurant in Morpeth area except to find they are all average and expensive, so on recommendation tried The Mulan, we found the food choice extensive and what we chose was tasty fresh and hot when collected but very expensive. It was a cold night outside but nearly as cold inside so not very inviting. Sorry to say we are still looking.

We ordered a fantastic takeaway from here this week and collected it from the restaurant. It was ready bang on time, fresh and hot and one of the nicest chinese takeaways I've had in a long time. Restaurant quality and not your average takeaway. It was more expensive than the average takeaway, but was happy to pay that given the quality of the food. We will be back and maybe eat in next time.

Yet again another amazing meal. Full of flavour and the portions are more than enough. Fantastic service from the staff who are So polite and friendly. Been numerous times to Mulan's you're guaranteed suburb food and service. You can eat in or takeout. Highly recommend you give mulans a try if you're a lover of Chinese food.

We went for my son's birthday. The staff were lovely with him and made him feel really special. All the staff were brilliant. So efficient, polite, friendly and professional. The food was amazing. All beautifully cooked and full of wonderful flavours. Without doubt the best meal out I've had in many years. I can't wait to go back and try more dishes.

Didnt taste of much, would not go back

Was a bit disappointed as Mulan used to be great. Place is dated and rundown and a bit unclean.Crockery and cutlery looks old and shabby and the food was not very good at all for the price. Staff were attentive and accomodating.

Wanted to try this place for ages and wish I hadn't. We were going to get a banquet takeaway but the rest of the family wanted pizza. So they did that and I thought oh well I can try it out this time, then order for everyone another time. Pleased that happened as it was such a waste of money. Nearly impossible to park legally, but just managed, then waited 20 mins after the time it was meant to be ready. Whilst worrying about the car. Then they came out with takeaways and put them on a shelf behind the bar. It was quite obvious who was waiting for takeaways but they just wandered off leaving them. When a waiter came back me and another guy asked if they were ours. Well two of them were. Took it home and started to eat it, frozen compressed chicken horrible, loads of green peppers, prawns char SIU, no beef as the guy who took the order said there was. It was banal, tasteless and of poor quality. My wife said is there much difference between that and the Fortune cookie (Morpeths shed on wheels) I said aye £7. Plus the Fortune Cookie has flavour. Never again, it's had it's chance.

Got a takeaway which was absolutely awful onions not cut up sliced beef of a very poor quality and hardly any of it. The mushroom’s were old and poorly cooked as were the 4 dishes that we had. I was so disappointed that I rang and complained to the manager who stated “ I couldn’t care less mate” Don’t waste your time and money

This place is the bees knees. We very busy on a Saturday night as expected but the place has a really friendly atmosphere, the manager seemed to know many of the patrons, greeting them by name. Food was absolutely excellent, fresh, crunchy veg with great wok hei. Try the chicken with seaweed, and the garlic chilli prawns. We will be regulars here I guarantee.

Very poor curry, tastes like soup and was watered down. Littered with peppers which spoilt it, and carrots/ onions were raw. Nah!

Received a warm welcome and helpful service. Food was fresh, very hot and very clean. Food was full of flavour and not at all greasy. Our stand out dish was the vegetable pancakes with hoisin sauce. The flavours and textures were superb and for us far exceed even duck pancakes. There are plenty of vegetarian options and for vegetarian eaters there should be no cause for concern. Vegetable hot and sour soup had a tingle of heat and a deep richness that complemented the crunch of the included veg and vegetable tom yum soup was bright and refreshing. Vegetables with black bean sauce was filling and well balanced with a serious depth of flavour. Atmosphere is relaxed and suited to most social occasions. Heartily recommended.

Went for a family meal tonight for my sister in laws birthday. I have to say it was outstanding. They followed all the government guidelines for covid. Every dish was amazing, the service could not have been better. They even topped it off by surprising my sister in law with a birthday dessert. The total cost of the night was well below the expected. Well done to all at Mulan, will most definitely be back ❤️
