Decent food. Had to wait quite a while, even though I had booked a time to collect.

Bland tasteless food, it's very expensive for quite frankly awful food never coming back here again

I was pleasantly surprised, we had a takeaway on Sunday and it was very good, and big portions! Crispy beef was one of the best I’ve had.

This place sells the most disgusting food, worst Chinese takeaway I’ve ever eaten (globally). Definitely would recommend traveling to a different village.

Absolute grease bowl went here this evening for a take out while we are on holiday and fancied a chinese. It was pure grease no flavour in the Special Curry the Chips were warm ups and the Duck Spring Rolls were un edible what a waste of £21.70 not a nice experience at all binned it.!!! Rob

Wasn’t very happy with what I ended up with. I ordered a duck curry and what I got was an onion curry with a hint of duck. My bbq ribs that I had also tasted like bisto powder and not bbq sauce. All in all not happy with what I got and won’t be going back.

Ordered two lots of chicken balls and a spring roll which both were over cooked and that greasy you could feel it in your mouth would not recommend or go again very poor 😒

Most tasteless Chinese I’ve ever had

We came to cheddar for a little get away and was recommended by a friend to eat here. We were not disappointed, the salt and pepper chicken was a bit too salty but very tasty and had the black bean chicken and chicken and mushrooms.......Best Chinese have had in a while, very flavoursome

I have used Riverside Chinese regularly for 30 years. I have always found the food to be excellent and the staff friendly and helpful.

Im sorry, But this place really sucks, Two teenage girls constantly bickering about who is going to do what (staff). The table wasn’t clean, really sticky, we asked twice for a cloth as we were happy to clean it. And when the food eventually came out, it was all bland and absolutely rubbish. Hardly ate any of it! We will never return, Given this place two chances now.

Fast service, I had duck with mushrooms and black bean sauce and it was so delicious 🤤 the portion was big and I would recommend it ! 🙂

Lovely food and a great selection to choose from.

Have literally just picked up, picked through, and fed the dogs most of the order. The aromatic lamb was very tough chicken with ginger and spring onions had lots of white onions, quite a bit of chicken but didn’t taste of ginger, salt and chilli prawn were butterflied king prawns to make them look bigger but the coating was thick and floury. Vile. Sweet and sour chicken balls were nice as was cucumber and prawn crackers!!! Don’t waste your money. A Waste of £40.

We were on holiday in Cheddar and decide to get takeaway from Riverside Chinese Restaurant , after looking at my bill I was overcharged a few pence , if the young male assistant continues this to all the customers each day the restaurant will make a good profit each week.

Possibly my favourite chinese, I keep wanting to go here when I'm in the south, I'll make plans with my in-laws to get food from here and then they will choose a different take-away breaking my heart every time. :( and then when I am back up north they go there to eat without me and my fiancé! Starting to think they hate us.

Ordered 4 items on the phone, ready for collection in 20 minutes. On pick up noticed there were only 3 items in the bag, it was sorted out quickly. Worth checking your order before you leave the shop, nothing more annoying than getting home and finding you have a meal missing. Food was very tasty and good size portions.

It was a few years ago when I last visited but I have been there several times and each time the lady serving me in the restaurant was very pleasant very fair and even allowed me to cancel my dessert (even though it was at the last minute) as me and my girlfriend at the time were absolutely stuffed from the fantastic food ! As i said ive not been there for a while but the times I have were memorable as even to this day it was the best food (let alone Chinese) I ever had . I'm being very honest when I say it was excellent value and food was at the very top of standards . If it is the same management as when I went then make a b line for it !

I’m so so disappointed in this place. People in there seem nice. I don’t like to be mean but guys you really have to sort it out. I ordered crispy chilli beef - I do not say this lightly - it was the worst chilli beef I have ever had. Please please change your recipe- it tastes like it was just caramel sauce. Zero beef in the strips. And why is you egg fried rice so sweet? Perhaps other dishes are better

First time takeaway, amazing best chinese meal, really good food large portions, meal for three between four and still had leftovers.

Very hit and miss, one week great the next either under or over cooked. Would have given 3 stars but after tonight's order they get a one after over cooked beef and soft chewy chicken balls. Plus telephone ordered for collection, told food would be ready at 8, waited over 30mins didnt even get an apology.

Very good service and food amazing

I've been going for many years and used them just for take aways. It changed hands and ever since the quality has been hit or miss but tolerable. Today however was the last straw. Decided to take the kids and eat in. We had to leave because it stank of cigarette smoke. Not sure if it was from before they opened their doors or if it was coming from someone in the kitchen but it was strong and smelled very strong. I decided to take a look at their standards rating online....looks like they have been downgraded to 1 star....well that explains that.

Staff couldn't answer what things where and didn't want to find out.. No taste and a sticky mess. One of the worst Chinese we have had ever.. Long wait.. Even tho it was just us 2 in the restaurant

Our group of 8 went for a sit down meal last night. What a fantastic experience. Staff were all very friendly, patient and welcoming. Ordered a set meal for 4 (4 of our group were fussy young children (lol)). Portions were more than ample (even took a small 'doggy bag' home). Food was great, tasty and looked good. We were not rushed nor felt they wanted us out and spent most of the evening here. Shame we don't live closer. We would defiantly come back here. Well done to all the staff. Don't take any notice of some of the other negative comments. A great big thumbs up from our group (even the fussy children)👍

We have been using this take-away over the last couple of years but unfortunately the last two occasions have been a very poor experience. The food has gone downhill. Tasteless and very oily. We spent £30 on food Friday night and the family didn't eat half of it. The chicken chow mein was a box full of greasy plain noodles, liquid, onions, mushrooms and slimy chicken. Everyone felt rough over the weekend and just feeling better Monday morning. There are much better take-aways in the area.

The starters were among the best I've ever had! We had Satay Chicken and Prawn toast, and I have to say, both of them were were probably the best ever in a Chinese - restaurant or take-away! It's a shame the mains didn't complete the experience - after those starters, we had some Egg Fried Rice, Chicken in Batter with Honey & Garlic Sauce, and some Roast Chicken Chinese Style (all pictured). The portions were VERY generous, but unfortunately, all three were incredibly bland, and it put a bit of a downer on the whole evening. The service started well, but by the end, we spent so much time waiting that we eventually left on our own - even though we were the only ones left in the restaurant. We'd definitely go again, but order our starters as mains!

Had a fantastic meal sat in their restaurant, service was great and the staff are friendly. Food was boiling hot, incredibly tasty and arrived at our table in record speed. Will definitely be going back. Prices are great and portions are large.

Ordered 4 different dishes and none of them had absolutely any flavour. I could taste flour and even plain rice didn't taste like rice!!!

Called here to sit in after cheddar gorge and was very pleased with the food and prices. The food was served very hot and quick and the staff are very friendly. Don't be fooled by the exterior.

Food was quick affordable and really good quality. Deep fried items were not too greasy and portions were very generous. Great value.
