While traveling some of my co-workers told me about this place and how great it was and how I should definitely visit it while I'm here. Well I took their advice and I'm very happy I did so. Customer service was excellent. I will definitely be back.

We very much enjoyed having tea and cake here. Great service and delicious cakes. They stay open late for dinner on Fridays and we would have loved to stay for that.

A very nice café. It would be my favourite, if I lived in Inverness. Good coffee and spectacular homenade cakes. I only regret myself of not having bought their recipes book...

The day's soup was delicious - squash with lime and coconut. The table was sticky though and the service wasn't great - the lady forgot our order. She did come and apologise though. Value was ok. It was a nice change of food style.

Stopped in for coffee and home-baking and weren't disappointed. The coffee is excellent. There was a choice of cakes, some gluten free. I had a berry and polenta cake, and it was lovely. Hubby had a roasted veg and humus sandwich, which he said was lovely.

I've been having lunch in Inverness about once a year for decades, and have never found a really good vegetarian place - until now. It's just lovely. When I see cream of cauliflower soup on the menu it's normally with a sinking heart, but Riverdale's was delectable. Also an excellent tofu BLT, some damn fine plum tart and a latte good enough to satisfy my jaded metropolitan palate. The folk in charge are deeply nice, and reacted to our small son's attempts to dismantle the furniture with a heroic forbearance, indeed a seeming enthusiasm. And the café itself is very pleasant to be in - one-third hipster to two-thirds hippie, which is surely the right proportion.

Came here as my daughter is vegan think this probably is the only vegan option in inverness it was 3pm unsure if table or ask at counter this would be better defined!Wanted the rice and veg special on board but it had just run out so my daughter got humus and roasted veg sarnie she said it was nice but overpowered with garlic I tried it was overdosed I decided not to have anything other than a drink but will go back in next time for soup or special should they be available. The baking looked great but will go back and try it

Recently visited this cafe. Was served amazing vegan food which is hard to come by in inverness. Vegan chocolate cake is awesome you would never tell the difference. Service with a smile and friendly atmosphere. Good selection of healthy organic food. Totally loved this place.

If you are a vegan and traveling in Scotland, you will love this place. I ate there several times, and the food was always great along with the coffee and tea. Also, the staff are very friendly. If no one comes up to your table, you are always free to go to the counter to order. I actually ordered a couple of items for take away so that I would have food while I traveled by train back to Edinburgh and for lunch the next day. Since I do my work online, it was a great place to sip something hot while I worked. Additionally, I met some interesting people there. The one downside is that they are only open until mid afternoon. I thought the prices were fine, and I live and eat in a very affordable city.

In a city with almost no choice for vegan dining, I was excited to try this but ultimately somewhat let down. My partner & I both had mixed vegetable & lentil soup which was a bit bland and watery. We also had a chocolate & nut square which was much more enjoyable and was a better example of their chef's skill. Coupled with the somewhat steep price, I probably wouldn't return as a guest - but as an Inverness resident I probably would, if only for lack of alternatives.

I stumbled across this place while out and about. I walked inside and its small and quaint. The lady was just writing up the menu boards for the day and was really friendly. I wasn't quite sure what I wanted, then I saw these Chocolate Squares that looked amazing. I had to try one. I am not a vegan myself so I was a little curious how if they would actually taste like real chocolate and my god were they amazing. I will be craving these for weeks now.

Nipped in to try lunch with my mother after hearing about this place. Shame its advertised as organic and not vegan, many people are unaware it is predominantly a vegan cafe. Appeared a nice quaint cafe, sat down at a table and after 10 minutes of being ignored by staff someone finally came over. No special on the board and looking at the menu very little choice. Maybe its just me but the only choice of sandwich/toastie being houmous&pate or salmon&cheese is pretty poor. It was that or soup. The choice of fillings was not appetising at all and looking at others plates the portion size was poor for the price. We made our apologies and left. Maybe if we had stayed we might have been pleasantly surprised but I doubt this. I would advise the cafe to change their advertising from organic to vegan as it would avoid people like me being disappointed.

Didn't realise this cafe even existed until a few days ago, found it on Happy Cow website. Lovely and welcoming although quiet for a Saturday lunch time. I have been loathe to eat out in Inverness since becoming vegan but had no worries here, the chef has been vegan over 25 years and we had a great time chatting and he even gave me a recipe! My daughter and I shared a main course and then had cakes. Everything we ate was tasty and our plates were clean. Yes the main course was a little pricy but we were happy to pay it for the deliciousness of all the food and the chefs tips. Will be back and soon. Definitely recommend

Had a lovely meal made by the chatty, very interesting chef Phil; followed by a great chat. There was no problem accommodating the needs of someone with intolerances, so I will be back.

If you have a healthy appetite but slender means go somewhere else for that non-meat treat. The lunch we planned at Riverdale was dissappointing, the ingredients may have been organic but the hot dish of the day was un-appetising and the portions were very meagre at the cost of £7.35 a throw. It's a pity that cafe's trading on the basis that they are organic and catering for vegans, don't deliver the goods! Vegan food is fabulous and vegans are very discerning, when they are given a choice and they also like to eat just as much food as non-vegans.So on behalf of vegans everywhere, come on Riverdale ask your cook to "ramp it up" a bit you really could do this so much better.

Lovely friendly wee cafe. The food is all home-made, including the cakes. Had a lovely cup of coffee and a cake. The food on the blackboard looked healthy and interesting. My husband says to add it was one of the best cups of coffee he's had in a long while!

It's a pretty scummy dive bar. (In response to owner's comment - Dive bar isn't necessarily a bad thing, but good for folk to know what they're walking in to. Football, football fans and occasional fights. Other dive bars in Inverness have more atmosphere and soul IMO but it is what it is. It's the kind of place you go to get messy, but stay away of you're in any kind of alternative subculture and don't want to get harassed by Inverness's scummy drunks.)

Visited 3 times in 5 days and probably spent more on coffee than we did on merchandise (and Tiso is an excellent shop by the way). Excellent coffee, lovely cake selection and a truly fantastic full English/Scottish breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful. View to the Cairngorms outstanding and our doggy companions most welcome.

Really enjoyed a visit here, with very good breakfast and efficient and very friendly service. With it being on a main road on the outside of Inverness and with easy free parking, it makes it all the better.

As someone who has worked in the food and catering industry for years, I find it astonishing that there are recent incredibly negative reviews regarding this restaurant. Our experience was nothing short of 5 stars. The food was exceptional, the quality of the produce, the execution and the presentation. It was a lovely mix of top quality seafood, traditional Scottish fare, with some Asian touches thrown in and it worked a treat. Service was bang on. Not over the top, just well timed, very professional and friendly. The restaurant itself is gorgeous. Housed in a lovely old stone building - a relaxing, calm atmosphere that hums along nicely, lovely location and outlook. My husband and I (both fish and meat eaters) chose different options for each course and really couldn’t fault a thing. If you are hesitating because of the negative comments, don’t - enjoy the experience. It’s not cheap - this isn’t somewhere you would dine everyday, so we opted for the lunch fixed price menu. Would return in a heartbeat. We have been travelling through Scotland for 3 weeks, and have had some absolutely lovely meals - but this one is the best.
