River Avon in Wychavon

We have been using River Avon Chinese for years and would never go anywhere else. Tina is such a great hostess and the food is incredible, not once have we ever been disappointed by the food or staff, would highly recommend to anyone! We have been coming here for years and only recently did I realise I’d never left them a review, so I do apologise!

Best Chinese in the area. Have been dining there for over 30 years.

Unfortunately there are stairs, so be prepared. But it's so worth it. Set inside a timber framed structure ( possibly tudor in appearance) with authentic Chinese decor, this restaurant gives 100% , the staff couldn't be more helpful, clean spacious seating, and the food was delicious, highly recommend, enjoy.

Lovely night out with friends. Got one of the sharing meals and it was perfect size and delicious flavours. Food was freshly cooked and veg crisp. Not overly salted. Service was excellent but not intrusive. Hope to return when next in the area.

A first floor restaurant in the main High Street with decorations that create a truly Chinese atmosphere which is comfortable and relaxing. Very welcoming and friendly staff, the menu offers a wide choice of tasty Cantonese food at reasonable prices: well-presented, the service is quick and timely managed between courses. Recommended.

Haven't been here for at least 15 years. Nothing has changed and the food and service was still excellent. Even when busy they still deliver a fantastic service . All credit to all the staff that work there.

Visited here with family in January, very busy but service was quick, if a little impersonal, food was very nice, if a little pricey.

It is some years since we last visited having move away. The restaurant has never failed us - the warmth of welcome, the speed of service and the quality of food remains at a very high standard. It is clear that the staff care about the customers. Thank you for making a special evening even more special.

Authentic Chinese restaurant with great service. Food tasted brilliant. Mixed starter platter was fresh, tasty and good portion for two. The squid was so tender! Great place, highly recommend.

I was celebrating my 60th birthday tonight (9th December 2023). this was my choice of venue because not only is the food good, the staff are so warm and friendly, nothing is ever too much trouble. It is such a lovely restaurant, relaxing and friendly and when the lights go down to sing 'Happy Birthday' it is fabulous. I love the venue, I love the staff and I love the food, Highly recommend this restaurant you will not be disappointed. After so many good reviews we thought we would give it a try , very disappointed ( beef was tuff , chill chicken was not eatable. ) rice was lovely and staff very friendly.

This is a hidden Gem in Evesham. Food is very good and clearly freshly made (rather than reheated). Dine in or take away, worth a try if you have not been before.

I have dined at the River Avon for many years. Warm, comfortable restaurant with very friendly, helpful service. Varied menu. Food cooked very nicely and well presented. Nothing too much trouble and was pleased my order was converted to vegan friendly. Reasonably priced too.

Lovely food, service & value. Attentive but not too attentive. Went for a birthday meal and even though we hadn't mentioned it was a birthday, they must have heard us mention it, we were then surprised by a lovely chocolate cake. Will definitely return.

Best Chinese restaurant for miles. Also does takeaway service. If your going to sit in, highly recommend booking weeks in advance as very popular.

We are not local to Evesham, we were there for a weekend away. We chose River Avon based on the good reviews but were very drained in the food. I can only think that we have been spoilt by having access to excellent Chinese food in Birmingham. People around Evesham must have not tried really good Chinese if they think this place is good. The hot and sour soup was sickly sweet and gooey like a sauce. The chicken and mushroom soup was bland. My chicken chow mein was bland and sloppy. The chicken chunks were obviously the ready cooked frozen sliced chicken you can buy in the supermarket. The noodles were in a sloppy sauce that tasted nothing like chow mein it was just chicken bisto. Chicken sweet and sour Cantonese style was overly acidic and the lumps of chicken were chewy. It was very busy the night we went so i I suspect corners were cut. We were very disappointed.

Dated interior, food was cold and certain staff had a very condescending attitude. I assume they are only in business due to the lack of Chinese restaurants in a small town.

Great food and great service. Awesome Cantonese duck and duck with plum sauce. Kids enjoyed the chicken balls and dumplings. Plus the fish tank with carp was a hit with our kids :)

Haven't eaten here in years due to lockdown but there's nothing like it. Great friendly service. The decors still as it was years n years ago, not that it's terrible... 🤣

My mums birthday gathering at a time to suit all. She knows the place and understands the basics when it comes to a Chinese Restaurant, mind you she clarified the last time she frequented the river avon was 1978. You guessed it she didnt know any staff or had a usual table. We had a table for the 9 of us, not cramped in plenty of space even for a toddler to run about. Food lovelly, changing around the set meals etc. was not a problem for the staff. Nice experience, quality food and value for money.

Quite disappointed, used to be really nice Chinese food, but tonight it was bland, the sweet and sour sauce tasted very vinegary and the chips were rubbery Not sure if just a one off or if they have changed

Lovely atmosphere, the staff were friendly and attentive, the food was amazing, did not feel rushed at all between courses which made this a much better experience overall, so we could enjoy each course with a break in between. Highly recommended

Last weekend we enjoyed another great takeaway from The River Avon. Great service and all felt very Covid safe. Really lovely, tasty food. The starters we shared were fabulous; Yuk Sung, Aromatic Duck with pancakes, Wantans, Ribs, all excellent. Thank you Tina and the team.

Had yet another fantastic meal on new years eve. Although Tina and her staff had to abide by restrictions it took nothing away from the atmosphere and fun evening we always have. Thank you Tina and gang still the best food and welcome.
