The food at the Hing Wah is just simply the best in town, always tasty and with great quality ingredients. The chap out front is just a wonderful kind person with just the best memory. Thank you so much we don't go anywhere else.

By far the best Chinese takeaway I have ever had, I am from Upton and travel to tewkesbury for this Chinese takeaway. The food is lovely and fresh and most importantly isn’t greasy. It comes in cardboard packaging which is much nicer than other plastic packaging. The chicken is always nice and not the usually rubbery suspicious chicken you get elsewhere. The staff are always welcoming and I highly recommend. Thank you so much hing wah!

You can't beat Hing Wah for tasty food. I have tried other Chinese takeaways and always go back to Hing Wah. Their Sweet and Sour is gorgeous.

A rather limited menu more than redeemed by good quality, good quantity, friendly service and a covid-safe area. I had take-away chicken with spring onion and ginger, and egg fried rice. Allow me a criticism: a bit too sweet but maybe that’s what people like round here. As a bonus, the complimentary prawn crackers actually tasted of something other than cooking oil. I can’t swear it was prawn, but I liked it.

Great Chinese! would highly recommend. Really nice food, generous portions, reasonably priced. Family work hard. They are friendly and welcoming. We come here often even though we don’t live in Tewkesbury because it’s so good!

Customer unfriendly wanted to change the soup in the menu of 47 euros and could not, it was said only with tomato soup .. have therefore gone on another.

Piping hot and very tasty, generous portions and reasonably priced. We haven’t had a Chinese take away in a long time as we’d been disappointed so often, but this was an excellent return. Ready to collect in the time given, highly recommend.

We walked up from the local campsite after reading the reviews. Asked for a menu as we couldn’t find a menu online and the pictures of one we found seemed to be dated. After ordering we waited outside as the shop adheres to strict Covid-19 rules. Our food was prepared quickly and we were surprised to find a free Oreo ice cream pot, fortune cookies and pawn crackers. The food was delicious and we struggled to finish what we had ordered. Would definitely recommend to anyone coming down here.

If you're looking for a Chinese takeaway in Tewkesbury look no further! We ordered a selection of dishes yesterday and we were delighted. It's so difficult when you don't know the area, I've made many mistakes over the years. Hing Wah is definitely a contender for the best we've ever had. Fresh and light, no heavy sauces full of who knows what. Why read anything else, just order and taste for yourself! We had Hong Kong sweet and sour, satay, chilli beef and vegetable spring rolls, which were a highlight.

I was hoping for a better experience but I’ve had worse. The counter was COVID-19 prepared and with a smiling face made it welcoming. The takeaway was fast and efficient BUT the food left a lot to be desired. Quality of ingredients was good but for some reason they believe that all food should be far too sweet, too much sugar. They have not considered that although the English taste has been for sweeter foods for quite a few years now, unfortunately Hing Wah have taken it one step too far, even my house special Chow Ming was almost a pudding with such a sweet sauce. Having lived in Hong Kong before and eaten every type of Chinese available, this is disappointing.

Last night of our holiday and I decided to have a Chinese takeaway. This takeaway has some good reviews. I had sweet and sour chicken, Hong Kong style and plain noodles. I haven’t had a Chinese meal since lockdown so I was more than ready for a good meal, alas it was rather underwhelming. Would I go back? I think not.

Fantastic family business. They are quick and efficient indeed great fantastic food. The guy behind the counter is always friendly polite and welcoming never had an issue with anything or anyone there. Wouldn’t go anywhere else

This really has to be one of the best takeaways I have ever used. The food and service is amazing everytime.I'm vegetarian and like things quite spicy, it's never too much trouble for them to tweak a few of dishes to suite my taste.Tgey make the food with so much love they even put kisses on my food containers. My husband and I visit this take away regularly and we always receive great service and lovely food. There is an excellent choice of dishes and the meat is always of the highest quality. We have never had a bad meal and would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Tewkesbury!

Seguimos dándole una oportunidad más después de una sucesión de comidas terribles, saladas, acuosas y carentes de ingredientes, pero la última comida fue la gota final. Arroz salado poco cocido, pequeños cubitos de pollo en una gota de salsa acuosa sin sabor con un toque de cebollas quemadas (pollo al curry) y un poco de limón frito en una mezcla de mezcla para mi esposa. Ambos se fueron directamente a la basura después de unos cuantos bocados. Tampoco es barato. Vamos, Hing Wah, vuelve a donde estabas hace un tiempo cuando tu comida era excelente. Hasta entonces, lo siento, pero tendremos que ir a otro lugar.

Después de leer rápidamente los mejores platos chinos (lo más cercano a nosotros es horrible) probamos el Hing Wah. ¡El pollo al limón era repugnante, sin sabor y tenía más de 20 trozos de piña enlatada! La carne de chile también era insípida. Hay muchas mejores, no las volveremos a usar.

Viajé desde Cornwall para asistir a una feria comercial en NEC y me quedé en Tewkesbury. Tomé un par de cervezas en la ciudad y había venido preparado para volver a llevar a nuestro hotel. Bueno, caminamos 100 yardas hasta la comida china más cercana para encontrar que estaba cerrada por tres semanas.

Lástima que no fuera bueno, tenía las costillas de repuesto agridulces, son muy sobrantes de carne, muy grasosas. Arroz frito con pollo muy salado, y no solo mío sino de todos nuestros platos tibios. Me encanta la cocina china y esta niebla es la primera vez que no puedo comer y guardar.

Best Chinese take away around. Used it for 20 years. Never go anywhere else. They work hard to ensure all customers are happy and satisfied.

Friendly faces? Really? I would agree this is the best Chinese takeaway in Tewkesbury ,but that doesn't amount to much. I have eaten the food quite regularly, and not once has the man behind the counter cracked a smile. He always looks incredibly hostile. Food is OK, not great Too salty, and probably full of MSG.

Hing Wah is the best Chinese in Tewkesbury and has been for a long time. Excellent food, excellent service. Would be even better if they delivered, but then they’re so good, it’s worth the drive into town to pick it up, so not really a problem!!

This is our favourite local Chinese take-away. Food is always yummy and on time and the people are super friendly. Depending on how much you spend you get freebies gone fortune cookies to free tub of Ben & Jerry’s. Value for money and look after customers. You can’t go wrong!

Hemos comido Chino durante años pero llevar las diferencias regionales para cocinar y estas comidas eran demasiado salada.

Probablemente la peor comida china que he probado. Tan decepcionado. Pato crujiente ordenados y tortitas, había suficiente para quizás 1 pato tortita en un apuro. No había crispyness. Todo era grasa blanca.

Nunca ir a ningún otro sitio. Tienen una amplia selección, siempre bien cocinados y sabroso, siempre caliente. Realmente esperamos que cuando tenemos una comida como un regalo. Pagas por lo que recibes. Y este vale la pena!

Parado semana pasada para probar el llevar salir de nuevo. Probamos una vez antes. No es muy bueno y caro. Mejor que los otros en la ciudad. Algunas buenas características como galletas de fortuna y helado gratis tirado, pero la comida básica no era super. Los aperitivos estaban bastante malo, pero la tostada de gambas estaba bien, como era el arroz frito especial.

Food quality is excellent. Food comes in the US style boxes and chopsticks and fortune cookies are all included. Menu is extensive. Staff were friendly and didn't have to wait long for the food to cook. Prices are on the expensive side, but the food quality makes it worth it! Will be eating from here again.

Hing Wah Tewkesbury s oldest Chinese takeaway, the food is great and served quickly, it's served quickly because it's partly cooked already blanched if you like. great if you're in a rush, but there are other local Chinese restaurants that actually cook to order. for me this it's better to wait the extra few minuets for better tasting food.the biggest disadvantage for Hing Wah is the price. they are becoming more and more expensive compared to their competition.

I have read lots of the reviews so thought I'd try it. Yes, they throw in fortune cookies and chopsticks and the food comes in nice cardboard boxes but I'm more interested in the actual food. I must admit they were extremely busy with it being New Years eve, so I am prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt and try again. The rice was delicious but the chicken balls had too much batter, the Hong Kong Sweet and Sour was overcooked and the chow mein not very tasty. Anyway I'm looking froward to trying some other dishes when they are not so busy and hope to be able to give a more favourable review.

I visit the hing wah regularly and have done for 15+ years. I have tried others but they don't come close to the food from here. I strongly recommend this takeaway the food is delicious

I have had quite a few Chinese takeaways but this has to be one of the most delicious ones. It was a few pounds more than I normally pay for the same dishes but definitely worth it!

This is not your ordinary Chinese. Cardboard cartons and chop sticks as standard, with fortune cookies thrown in, the extra's set the food of perfectly. Be aware, they do not have a menu on line, they do not need one, as the place is always packed. They also have a "Full Menu" and a "highlights menu", make sure you check the full if your meal is not on the highlight menu. As for the food, excellent. Chinese Roast Chicken is a particular favorite of our friends, plus Garlic and Chilli prawns. Phone your order through to save waiting time, and if at first you don't succeed, keep trying. The reason why it is busy is because it is good!

This is our "go to" chinese takeaway and has for the last 30+ years been consistently the best in the town.

Went to this take away while visiting relatives in the area. I didn't have a menu and strangely there isn't one available online anywhere! With only a phone number & location known, I gave them a call to order. Firstly, I asked if they did a Chicken Satay as a main course? No, sorry. How about Char Siu Pork? No. Yellow Bean sauce? No, but we have Black Bean sauce! OK, I'll go with Chicken in Black Bean.On collection I pick up a menu from the counter along with my order and leave. I get back and look into the menu and immediately see that, one, it's only a 'highlight' menu for some reason, not everything? What's the point to that? Secondly, chicken Satay is right there in the menu!The food was pretty good even if it wasn't my first or second choice, not the best Chinese I've had but perfectly edible. Not sure I'd return, there are a few other places in Tewkesbury and would give someone else a try first.

The menu selection is good and a number of the dishes more commonly found only in restaurants are available. The little touches are also great, chop sticks and fortune cookies, mean you can have a restaurant experience at home. We usually have the chicken and black bean sauce and chicken curry...very nice! We would definitely recommend them!

I know that many people put salt on their food before they even taste it sometimes but it was far too salty for me. Shame as I think its probably nice underneath it all but could not taste for the salt. Please cut down on the salt and let your customers add it and then we will come back.

I have used this Chinese for about 5 years and the presentation of the meal is lovely ,however about 12 months ago I was so looking forward to visiting my favourite Tewkesbury Chinese but was so disappointed in opening the meal when I returned home.Presentation was top notch but the amount of Salt in the dishes was astronomical to the point it was impossible to eat ,I never add salt to any takeaway meals as it's not ever required,but unfortunately the Hing Wah are adding far to much salt and I can not use this place anymore.Since most of the food ,meats in the dishes are prepared well in hand before they produce the meals I see little point in offering some constructive criticism but will do next time I pass the shop.It's as if the salt top on top of your salt jar fell of when adding it to your meal.I'm a avid Chinese food fan and could literally eat Chinese every day,but this is the final straw myself and my girlfriend will no longer use this Chinese until they refrain from the massive salt content in there meals which totally destroys what should be a lovely tasting Chinese experience.

I stay in Tewkesbury on business on a regular basis and normally eat at the local restaurants, but tonight I fancied a takeaway and after a quick search on tripadvisor i decided to try the Hing Wah and wasn't dissapointed. I had the starter banquet for one, which had prawn toast, ribs, mini spring rolls and crispy seaweed. It was lovely. I also had the Hing Wah special chow mein. As soon as I opened the lid I was face to face with a mountain of meat and fresh vegetables! The quantity and quality was spot on and I would definitely recommend the Hing Wah

There were 8 of us so it was a large order.We tried the ribs, chicken and sweet corn soup, crispy shredded beef, chicken and sweet corn, chow mein, beef with black bean sauce and chicken curry.We even got some complimentary Ben & Jerry's ice cream for dessert. Everything was good. To quote my 10 yr old son "this crispy beef is even better than from our Chinese restaurant at home". I would not hesitate to get good from the Hing Wah again if I was in the area.

I absolutely love Hing Wah! Everything they make is delicious - I have never been disappointed. It is really the best Chinese I have ever had. It is all high quality and they are super friendly. Even when we move away from Tewkesbury, I will still be going to Hing Wah as it is that amazing!

We wanted to celebrate Chinese New Year with a very nice meal- sadly this wasn't what we got. We had the mixed starter which was all over cooked and oily. We ordered chicken satay and this was chicken with watery sauce (not peanut as expected) and copious amounts of green pepper. The vegetarian chow mein was tasty. The fiery rice was nice, but dry, the prawn crackers were greasy. May be we were unlucky, but I was expecting better.

I love this place! Fast service and the food is great. We tried the chicken with peppers in black bean sauce, chicken curry, lettuce leaves with Chinese filling, the awesome soups (chick n noodle and chic n sweet corn) and chow Mein. Noodles. . We also recieve free fortune cookies and crackers too! Very tasty. Appears expensive at first but it's not really ... Also served In those cool cartons you see the Americans eating from on tv.

I love the Hing Wah. It has been my favourite Chinese takeaway in Tewkesbury for over 20 years. Even having moved out of Tewkesbury, I still drive the 20 mile round trip for their special fried rice!

Great food and usually ready when you go and collect. We always place the order by phone and worse case have a 5 minute wait. There is always plenty of meat in the dishes and all the dishes are full of flavour and as they should be. Highly recommended.

We had been wanting to visit Hing Wah Chinese Takeaway for some time, but living in Gloucester, we didn't know how hot the food would keep, until we got home. We needn't have worried and Hing Wah didn't disappoint. The first thing we noticed was just how clean and bright the waiting area was, with comfortable chairs, or stools, to sit on. We had a choice of newspapers or magazines to read, whilst waiting for our meal, although we decided to watch the TV instead! We found the staff to be extremely friendly and very helpful, especially when asking for advice on non MSG and low salt meals.We settled for the Mini Starter Bites (delicious) as an appetiser, King Prawns with Bamboo Shoots, Crispy Peking Duck, Hing Wah Special Chow Mein, Firecracker Fried rice, Chips and boiled rice. After a relatively short wait, given just how busy the takeaway was, we were called to collect our meals. WoW, what a surprise, our meals were presented in a large Chinese style box, with all meals separately contained in 'American style' Chinese cardboard boxes (not cheap foil or plastic), chop sticks were also provided, we were given free prawn crackers and with the 'complements of the house' said the staff, we were also given a large (500ml) tub of Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Ice Cream, as we said, wow! Great service.When we arrived home the food was still hot, though the ice cream was beginning to melt lol. We shared out the food with our children (adults), we can honestly say that we've never known them to be so quiet during dinner, they were all too busy eating. Everything, absolutely everything was eaten, what more can we say, we'll be back, for sure, we'll be back. Highly recommended.

From the customer service to the food, this is possibly the worst chinese food i have ever had. The young gent behind the counter was rude, not even a please or thank you from him.To start we had hot and sour soup which had 2 flavours, vinegar and dry chilli flakes, hence this was inedible.Then we had a mixed starter for 2. The samasos were old, dry and reheated, seaweed was like dust mixed with sugar! The ribs were hard, dry and completely inedible.Lastly we had beef in satay, which was mostly green peppers and cucumber! Very odd combination, which didn't work well, a few very small thin pieces of beef!I have not bothered to complain or ask for my £30 back, as i have the impression that they don't care about they're food, customers and repeat business.

I had a takeaway here that unfortunatey I could eat very little of due it being so salty. I did not take it back as I had been less than impressed with the customer service I had received when I got my order, and was not convinced I would get anything out of complaining to them. Far too expensive for what you get, I'd rather get supermarket versions and save a lot more money.

This is a great little takeaway that we have used probably more often than we should. The menu is varied and has a nice selection of more unusual items on it. Portions are good sized and are servred in cardboard cartons as seen on american sit coms.Personal favourites are the Peking spare ribs; Prawns with chilli and salt; Singapore chow mein and the special seafood stir fry.

This is a takeaway only so no restaurant seating, however the food is up there with the best Chinese restaurants in Gloucestershire. With the usual menu choices, and willingness to go off menu if they can theres plenty of choice. We had crispy duck rolls, which were +very+ good, Kung Pow chicken which was delicious but might be a little too sweet for some people's tastes, personally I loved it but needed something more spicy / savoury as a side dish. Szechuan was AMAZING - all in all, the selection I had last time was as good as some of the best Chinese restaurants I've eaten in. Food is served in Cardboard containers like you see in the movies (designed for the purpose) which, I'm sure is more environmentally friendly that plastic or metal containers. Food is always piping hot by the time I get it home (10 minutes plus).Visit the Hing Wah and you won't be disappointed when you next fancy a Chineese feast.

I've visited a lot of Chinese take outs in Gloucestershire and beyond. This one is takes 1st prize for me. Little overpriced, but the food is always excellent. Doesn't have a restaurant to eat in and doesn't offer deliveries which is a shame.

this used to be the only chinese I used to go too, then we had a really bad meal which basically tasted like a couple of spoonfuls of salt had been thrown in. it was that bad that we drove back to the chinese to return the food, this really put us off and we haven't been back for approx a year. this time the food was fresh, and very tasty, but it pricely for the portion size but some would argue for the quality of the food the price is acceptable.

We always choose the Hing Wah for our takeways (despite having a different Chinese takeaway within 3 mins walking distance of our house!!) I'd rather drive into Tewkesbury to the Hing Wah because the food is gorgeous and always freshly cooked. You can order by phone to collect and it's always very quick. Lovely food and friendly staff.
