Ristorante Vittorio in Newport

Don't bother coming here if you have allergies. Told the waitress I have an allergy (as it is my responsibility to tell restaurants/food places otherwise they wouldn't know) she then told the chef who was right opposite me and he proceeded to roll his eyes and looked very annoyed and pissed off that I said I have an allergy, then walked off without saying anything. He made me feel like I upset or made him feel frustrated by finding out I have an allergy. I understand if I was being really picky but I ordered my meal with no changes or alterations, all I did was say I have a nut allergy just to be safe and of course picked a nut-free meal. My allergy is life-threatening, I wasn't trying to be awkward or annoying! The pork was nice but expensive. The interior looked lovely inside. You'll probably have a great time if you don't have any allergies but just be aware the chef will find it as an annoyance if you do. This type of reaction does not give confidence to customers with allergies if the chef reacts like this when they're meant to be cooking and preparing your food! Please train him to not behave like this in front of customers, especially when they are right in front of you!

Food a little disappointing.It was very busy and service was sketchy due to staff shortages.Had to go looking for waiter to re order drinks. Pasta dishes lacked flavour and seasoning.Probably won't return.

Pretty disappointing, looked forward to a family owned independent resultant, the food tasted microwaved and when asking for recommendations our waitress said “don’t know” and left it there.

We visited on a Saturday evening, the restaurant was busy but from the moment we arrived service was very attentive and friendly. We all had starters (meatballs and the burrata) and shared bread and oil, all were delicious. There is a good choice of Italian red wine which we very much enjoyed! I believe we had the Valpolicella Ripasso. For mains we had the Sea Bass, Gamberoni pasta and the Lamb which was on the Specials Menu. The Gamberoni and Sea Bass were lovely, really fresh, unfortunately the Lamb was slightly overcooked but otherwise ok. Definitely try the garlic bread it is sublime! The restaurant is really comfortable and atmospheric and the service was excellent throughout. I would definitely recommend, we are already planning our next visit (I want to try the pizza!) 🍕

I absolutely love this place and go there for everyone of my special occasions and date nights. The food is delicious and an explosion of tastes. My favourite to start is the creamy burrata that just bursts open with flavour enhanced by basil, tomatoes and balsamic to die for, but to be honest I have tried all the starters and they are all so good, love the calamari, the bruschetta and the arancini, full of flavour. My go to main is the Gamberoni the creaminess of the languostine sauce is just a dream to eat and one I regularly order and never regret, the pancetta e funghi is also so flavoursome and another favourite for the mister who also is a fun guy 😉 but tonight we had a treat with the specials board of almond semi freddo, oh my the flavours and textures was amazing, like my favourite turron, brittle and snickers bar rolled into a heavenly dessert…this so needs to stay on the menu. This is Newports best kept secret and the best Italian restaurant I have ever sampled. The staff are lovely, welcoming and friendly and super helpful in offering recommendations when you just can’t decide. I love this place!

Celebrated my mother's 60th tonight. An absolute pleasure from start to finish. Everything was cooked perfectly, brought out together and the service from Rebecca and the staff was second to none. I highly recommend the Slow roasted Pork and the Nutella Cheesecake. Well worth a visit you won't regret it.

This is the first restaurant I visited when arriving in Newport 5 years ago. The staff have always been friendly in this family run Italian but the atmosphere was rather dead on a Saturday night. The room was stifling hot and the food okay but not noteworthy- a little bland if I’m honest. We were doing a recce for a special family event next year but have crossed it off our list. Shame really.

We come here quite regularly and fair to say we have never been disappointed!! The food is spot on and full of flavour every time, so many great dishes, the truffle fries have also become a favourite for me.. The staff are brilliant and so friendly and welcoming too.. Definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for authentic Italian food 😋

We travelled from Australia to celebrate our anniversary with family and friends and couldn’t have picked a better restaurant to spend it at there was 14 of us and we booked our food prior to coming from the party menu all correspondence were done while we were still in Aus and all meals were correct, piping hot and delicious. The food was nothing special and rather bland. The food orders were wrong (which happens) but they added one tiny piece of squid to make my dish a Scoglio with a thin, tasteless sauce. The service was a bit like the Victoria Wood ‘2 soups’ sketch which added to the humour of the place but we certainly wouldn’t rush back there.

We celebrated my sons 18th birthday at Vittorios and the food was outstanding. The steak, chicken breast, pasta and pizzas were lovely. All the staff were amazing. Very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be visiting again. I would highly recommend Vittorios to anyone

Food was good and desert serving was generous. Advisable to make a booking if more than 5 people dining. The place can be a bit busy and nothing of similar dining options within the same street.

Not sure why it’s taken so long for us to visit but finally made it this evening! First impressions were great setting great and staff friendly. We felt the food was ok but wished there was more emphasis on the quality rather than the quantity. It is so close in being great but no dish made you feel it was anything special. We had another great meal here on Friday night. Everybody’s meals were all delicious, I had a lamb rump from the specials board which was perfectly cooked and sauce was really tasty. Great ambience and attentive staff - tables are all spaced out and feels very safe. Definitely worth a visit, you won’t be disappointed!

Our family had a really enjoyable meal here last week and want to commend both the chef and friendly staff for both the lovely food and for making the restauranrt feel very safe for eating in the current circumstances. It was good to come back and enjoy the old favourites like the Polpette and Melanzane followed by some delicous pasta dishes inc Salsiccia and Lasagne.

Last minute decision, so we needed to sit down at 5.30pm because they were fully booked after 6pm. Excellent service from a friendly experienced team. Lovely food, we had meatballs and calamares for starters and seafood pasta and pizza for main course. All superb, together with an excellent Sicilian red wine.Totally recommended.

This is my favourite Italian Restaurant in S Wales. Food is excellent, there is always a good choice on the menu for every taste. The service Is impeccable & friendly. The atmosphere Is welcoming and relaxed but it’s not a place to wear your old jeans and scruffy T shirt in.

What can I say... it's not often that you visit an Italian restaurant outside of Italy where the food is so authentic, made with love and tastes unbelievable!! The gamberoni linguine was absolutely beautiful, and of course, the tiramisu was the perfect end to a lovely dinner! The staff were so attentive, especially considering what a busy Saturday evening it was. A lady sat on the table next to us had even tipped her drink all over the table and herself, and the staff all rushed to help her and were so thoughtful! Can't believe I've lived in Newport all these years and this was my first visit, will 100% be back again soon, thank you so much!!

I’m not one to go for pizza in a restaurant, but after seeing the pictures of chef Owen’s pizzas online I wanted to try one and I’m so glad I did! So tasty and the dough is amazing, the price is so reasonable too. Our table had a variety of things from pasta dishes, fish, steak, also starters and desserts, and everything was absolutely spot on. The tiramisu was stunning. Service was great too, and the restaurant has a cosy authentic feel. Can’t wait to come back again soon.

Thank you Vittorios for an absolutely perfect introduction back into some resemblance of normal. My friends Booked here for a meal for 6 people to celebrate my 30th Birthday. Due to COVID restrictions I have not eaten out anywhere since March and was slightly nervous to be back into the normal swing of things. Vittorios made us feel comfortable safe and secure with amply distanced dining, good controls and is spotlessly clean.Now onto the most important part - the food. Just WOW. I am a very fussy eater, and have to say the food was absolutely superb. I went for a garlic bread for starter and fillet steak for main. Every single forkful was delicious. The steak was cooked to perfection, with all accompaniments the perfect addition to the excellent cut of meat. Prices are so so reasonable for the quality of food. We all had something a little different, and it was a testament to the chef that we all enjoyed every meal we had. Owen and his team of consummate professionals are welcoming, friendly and professional throughout and followed all measures to make sure we as guests were safe as well as staff. An extensive drinks menu meant that all persons had something to chose from. Thank you so much for our evening. I had an amazing time celebrating my birthday in an establishment which is an absolute asset to the local area!!

I can’t remember the last time I left a review here. But this is well deserved. I visited tonight with my wife and 3 year old daughter. The fact that my daughter ate a whole plate of bolognese, is in itself a 100% good food guarantee. I ordered the salsicia for starters and wish I’d also ordered it for main and dessert. The flavours. Wow. A medium steak followed, which unfortunately left no room for dessert. The steak however was cooked to perfection and the sides just enough. Amazing food. Great service. Cannot wait to go again.

I would start off by saying that this is by no means a ‘bad review’, I think Vittorios is the one of the best restaurants in Newport and definitely recommend it. The food has always been really great. However, last night I was left disappointed for the first time. The menu has been changed and no longer includes meat mains, so only pasta and pizza. It was my boyfriends birthday that we booked for, and he likes neither of those things very much, and always goes for the chicken option. So he ordered pasta, only to see that the table next to us all had meat dishes. As we left we saw the specials board, at the other end of the restaurant from us, that nobody had bothered to point out to us.. It was a shame because we would have definitely gone for what was on there (& would’ve spent a lot more money).Also, we did wait a long time for both courses, which I was expecting anyway with the eat out to help out scheme going on and it being so busy, but one waitress came to us and said ‘are you still waiting’ but didn’t bother to even apologise when I said yes, which I thought was quite rude..We will definitely still be back,and these comments are more so that other people at least know that there is a specials board, and it’s not just a pizza/pasta menu.

Vittorio’s was a restaurant I frequented in my 20’s now as a mum of two, it is my daughters favourite restaurant. We have been twice in last two weeks. The owners and staff of this family run restaurant are very welcoming whilst remaining professional at all times. The food is delicious. It is a gem of restaurant and feels like the real Italy. Tonight we overheard a couple complaining about everything before storming off, the way they spoke to the owners and staff was despicable. The owner tried to positively resolve the issues to no avail, the couple were so rude to the staff and it really was uncalled for. Vittorio’s thank you for a gorgeous meal, thank you for being so welcoming and your amazing hospitality - we will be back.

Absolutely wonderful evening! Highly recommended ! A select menu with the chef spoiling us with little taster dishes throughout our evening. We selected the Cozza as our starter . Followed by our mains the Calabria pizza and the Scoglio . Finishing off with Tiramisu. Return visit very soon .

Pasta was perfectly cooked, flavours well balanced and good portions. Nice atmosphere. There is a park just a few minutes down the hill where you can have a stroll after to complete a romantic night out.

I have been to this lovely family run restaurant numerous times and can honestly say I love it the food is delicious always piping hot and tastes so good. It’s child friendly and lovely and clean the staff are always welcoming and nothing is to much trouble.

Popped in for lunch on a very wet Friday. Excellent choice of dishes including a good lunchtime menu at a very reasonable price . Lasagne was excellent - hot and very tasty. Had to have some cheesy garlic bread with it too. Desserts on lunchtime menu were good. Obviously if tiramisu is on offer it would be rude not to have some. All round great lunch which we hope to repeat soon.

If your looking for tasty real Italian food this place is a must. Went for valentine's night, great atmosphere, and the food and service is second to none! They really cannot do enough for you. The waitresses were rushed off their feet, as no doubt was the kitchen, but keep it well hidden! They were very attentive made sure you were happy without being intrusive. Italian cooking is about fresh ingredients, good flavours and food from the heart. With a wide range of daily specials, some traditional dishes done with a bit of a twist, friendly service and the feeling of a real family restaurant in Italy Vittorio's is the real deal. Family owned and run, it offers authentic Italian food. A great place for an evening with friends and family - good food at sensible prices. Try the meatballs, pizzas but leave some room for the profiteroles or risk disappointment. Many excellent celebrations and casual lunches too - why would you even think of going somewhere else?

We booked for 15 (including 2 children) for our son’s 21st birthday celebration. The staff were helpful making the booking as we had two allergies in the party. They also put up a banner and photos for us and gave us a great spot, we also asked for prosecco on arrival which was all easily arranged.

We’ve been coming to Vittorio’s as a family since I was a teenager. It’s a special place that just keeps getting better. It’s one of my Dad’s favourite places & my favourite restaurant when I’m home in Newport. This is partly the food (their lamb is one of the wonders of Wales ) but also the staff, lovely owner Anna (pictured here with my Dad, Neil Todd) & her amazing staff, Maria, Guido, Julia and Sandra.
