Very tasty, sufficient portions, but a bit more expensive.

Excellent food, very attentive service

The staff of the place was unwelcoming and it took half and hour to send the food we ordered. By the time food arrived, it was cold and lost appetite. Very Disappointed because we came to try this restaurant for the first time but now this won't be even recommended for trying out!!

It was amazing food and service. We loved it and enjoyed every dish. We had Naan and chettinadu chicken, chicken 65, Kothu baroota, fried rice, cocktail and finally we had wonderful gulabjamun with coconut Ice cream. I remember my native food (Tamil Nadu - Namakkal)taste. All the staff are very kind and sweet. Wonderful experience I have never gotten like this before in any of the restaurants. Special thanks to the manager. Thanks for everything.

Foos is decent but prices are way over the top. £7 for 2 very small chickpea samosa is scandalous. Ingredients would cost about 20p. Lamb curry & rice £18 which is the most i have ever paid for a curry.

This is an excellent restaurant that we use often. Good food and lovely staff. The reason for the lower review is due to the fact there's no heating on at lunchtime. This is the 2nd time in the last couple of months we have been here for lunch with friends, and on both occasions, we have been frozen to the core. The restaurant was quite busy, and all we heard were people complaining about how cold it was. Seriously, it is so cold. I understand that the owners are probably trying to save money, but it should not be to the discomfort of the customers. In the cold winter months, a warm, welcoming atmosphere is needed. Love this place but will certainly be looking at an alternative place to eat at lunchtimes during the colder months.

Thanks to Chef Gurpreet Singh who made us so proud to be Indian and specially punjabi and he made such a good curries as per our request as we are 4 people badly craving for Proper indian taste from last 1.5 years and finally our search is finished.. GOD BLESS gurpreet singh and one bad thing I want to say is service from a girl which is Awful as she is so blunt in answering and shows us attitude but apart from last everything is so well...

Food is tasteless and to be seated in a corner where the sun kept on shining in my eyes because apparently every table was taken for a bigger party that didn't even show while there. Won't be back again.

Service was pathetic after ordering the food and waited for 20 minutes then we have to ask at least give us water to drink, the food was cold, we ordered family dosa, sambhar was cold we ask for second time please give us a hot sambhar, but they came up with cold sambhar again, not recommended will never go here

Love Rishis. Been to all branches many times and will be coming back for lovely authentic south Indian food. Aberdeen, Glasgow and Stirling branches, give your Dundee sister some support to be as good as you are.

Poor home delivery experience every single time i had to order food. Once I ordered 2 dosa but received only one dosa and they denied any refund. Their management is so pathetic, idk how they’re still surviving in business but such poor customer experience.

Excellent experience, food was magnificent and full of flavour (very generous portions). Staff were very attentive and service was fast. Staff accomidated a member of our party's tastes by providing a milder version of a dish which was extremely kind of them. Genuinely have no complaints, 10/10.

This place is amazing the food is exquisite 👌. There second to none. Try it you'll not regret it and you won't look back. Most Indian cuisine tastes the same but these guys have a unique flavour in their dishes . Absolutely delicious. Bit more expensive but definitely worth every penny. Staff are friendly !!! Since I discovered rishi I haven't went to anyone else for Indian cuisine; there food is amazing. Great atmosphere dining in and great take out too !! Definitely 5 stars 😋. Thanks guys !!

I had my dinner yesterday night here.we are regular customer of Aberdeen Rishi's aroma but here totally different No taste in food..i don't know if chef was on holiday but totally disappointed a nd the staff was not even attentive.They were chatting and not giving attention to customer .They don't even communicate properly.

Best Indian food I’ve ever had. Chicken khorma, jeera rice, and butter naan is my meal preference. Really liked the dosa also, and the staff is always great. Highly recommend.

To begin with. It is definitely recommended. The food was excellent.we were there for almost an hour, It felt like we kept on ordering food, because it was so delicious. Imagine going to a movie expecting not much to happen, and then all of a sudden, it becomes one of your all-time favorites. It was the same for us. Great food, great ambiance, and service.

Poor. Nan was like it had been defrosted tasted like cardboard,asked for another just the same. The dhal was nice but for £10 a meagre portion.The aloo , cauliflower was ok but potato was soft,prolly a defrost.As Tony Singh says these places are taking the pish . Would they even use fresh ingredients. If you want a decent curry cook it yourself or try the Dormy at Gleneagles.

Food was tasty and arrived quickly. Very friendly and attentive staff, and had a very enjoyable time.

For 5 stars, you've got to be Michelin. This was a very pleasant meal - Madras Marsale Dosa interesting and tasty, the Haggis Pokora was fabulous. Mains of Special Biriyani and Lamb Saag were authentic and very good. Certainly worth another visit.

Couldn't fault the service, food was good too and the atmosphere was nice. Waitress was very helpful in assisting us as we weren't sure what to eat. Staff also polite. Would recommend.

One of the best indian food in Dundee

We stopped here on our way through Dundee for a lunch and everything was perfect- paneer starter & fish curry were best I’ve ever had. Rest of party had lamb curries which were also excellent. Well done to all the charming staff - a great experience.

We ordered cauliflower Manchurian and dosa. The cauliflower was raw,not cooked properly and gravy was like just tomato ketchup and the dosa was too soggy and not crispy at all..

Really the best in Dundee by a mile. Nice staff. Great food. The railway lamb masala is brilliant - never change it! Also good value for the quality on offer.

Best Indian food and cocktails ever, I had a good Interaction with staff( Shivam, Deepak, Sneha and Akshaya), they have been very kind and provided great service.

Brilliant food, friendly service, calming ambience and in my opinion the best chai in UK. Will definitely visit every time I am in Dundee.

Sadly for our group we felt Rishi's had gone downhill. No special lunch menu and prices have shot up. I know all.prives have gone up but thought not having rice included with meal and having to pay £5 for a small dish of pilau rice wasn't good value.

The place is quiet and has a warm atmosphere. I was told about the 20 minutes waiting time for the order to be ready at the time of placing the order. And it did take a good while given the place had a good footfall for a weekday. I got one chicken biryani and the quantity justified the cost considering two ate one serving to be super full. Raitha and curry accompanied the biryani.

Great food lovely friendly service. Four guys on a golfing trip. It was early so the service was prompt and pleasant. Starters and mains good size portions and very tasty. The menu isn’t huge but quality over quantity any day.

Researching Indian restaurants in Dundee I found an article recommending the top 5 and Rishi was on that list. It is a sound recommendation; delicious food, nice menu selection, friendly staff. I also went to the other Indian restaurant listed as #1 and in my opinion Rishi's was the better option.

Good food but very limited menu. Comfortable dining area until about 9pm when crowds arrive and destroy the ambience completely. This has happened both times we have been there.

Excellent meal, lovely busy restaurant, friendly helpful and prompt staff. Will definitely go back, loads more I'd like to try but definitely would recommend all the dishes we had.

Lovely food here. The dosa's are out of this 🌎 we had the chicken dosa, masala dosa, and madras dosa. Madras was spicy, masala not so spicy, and the chicken dosa was a meal in itself. We had also ordered a chicken tikka biryani, a lamb biryani, chicken tikka masala and naan bread. We were stuffed so took a doggy bag home. We have three dogs, and we love them dearly, but they won't be getting any.

Hands down the most authentic Indian cuisine in Dundee.

Not exactly South Indian food but enjoyable and service can be far better.

Absolutely amazing food. I had the railway lamb which had been recommended and it was fantastic. My wife had the paneer curry off the specials and she described it as the best curry she’s ever had. All the staff were friendly and really helpful. We’ll definitely visit again next time we’re here.

Take out only so cannot comment on atmosphere. But food good and will definitely do a sit in soon

Had Chicken kothu paratto, didn't think much but to my delight, it was really good.

Absolutely great restaurant, all starters especially the cauliflower starter for the veggie amongst us was delicious. Portions are good size, friendly service, first Time here and although from Ayrshire we will definitely come back. Thank you for your hospitality.

They will serve or treat you better if you are spending much otherwise they gonna keep asking you that are you done? When you gonna done? That’s seriously ashamed. Even though i told them that i need time still they keep coming and asking you. Poor service and some team members there

Food was generally good but there was a sharp increase in price at one point. Staff should have the courtesy to mention this when placing an order immediately after you'd hiked up your prices. In fact, you should always mention the order total when it's being placed, not when it's being picked up.

Fantastic atmosphere in a really busy restaurant with first class service. Food was excellent but I couldn't finish it. Been a few times now and will be back again.

My husband and I had a booking at Rishis, Dundee for 6.30pm. After being taken to our table, the waitress took our drinks order. Once we had our drinks our food order was taken. We opted for a simple starter of poppadoms and the chutney tray. As the waitress took our starter plates away our main courses were put in front of us. We felt this was a too quick as we, personally, prefer to have a 10 to 15 minute gap between courses. The food was okay but once our main courses were finished we asked for the bill. The whole evening had felt as if it was rushed. We were there no more than 45 minutes. Very disappointed.

The front of house staff and menu have changed since I last ate here, but when I asked about their old dishes they were able to make them despite not being on the more simplified menu and the quality was just as good as before.

Was most utterly disappointed when I received my food I’ve had better home cooked curry’s! This is over priced, far better Indian cuisine in Dundee. Service wasn’t ideal either one of our drinks were spilt on our table and that’s not the biggest concern I waited so long on it to be cleaned I thought I was going to need to get an apron on and clean it my self. I expected more from this place! Very much doubt I’ll be sitting down to a meal in Rishis again

We have eaten here these last two Sunday nights because it’s so close to Travelodge Central Dundee. It’s a busy restaurant but the manager and staff are very good at their jobs and we only saw happy customers. We enjoyed a bartenders special house drink Thiruveni no alcohol made with pineapple ,grape juice and ginger.Very nice. Masala dosas piping hot fresh crispy and well filled just as we have enjoyed in South India many times and served with Sambar, coconut chutney etc. I needed a pudding to finish and the mango and yogurt came in a glass dish and looked amazing. The dessert had a proper name which I can’t remember but it tasted exquisite ! So good we have to come back again.

Been here with kids for a quick lunch. Ordered masala soda, mango lassi chicken momo and so. Dosa and lassi was ok but though I am vegetarian but my daughter had momo but as she said it was not a fresh, was from frozen the dumplings and that also not a freshly made and very little quantity, it was bought from Chinese shop the frozen dumplings which contains very plain chicken mince, no spices there as it should have in Nepali Tibetan momo. Lassi was ok, I has masala dosa it was so so. The ingredients in dosa was boiled potatoes and chickpeas but no masala, though it said masala dosa.

The best indian food ever I ever had in Scotland. Rarely you find proper indian food in Scotland, Rishis is one of its kind. The service was excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Ambiance was very good, felt like a restaurant in india. I want to visit again and again.

Had a wonderful experience on our last visit to Rishi’s Dundee restaurant with 6 of our friends last week, lovely food, excellent service and attentive staff. Seems the restaurant was busy that time and though we haven’t booked they managed to get us the table. Surprisingly they got to know about our friends birthday from our conversation and treated him with a birthday song and a piece of cake. Definitely will come back.

Sad to share a very unhealthy series of experiences with Rishi's restaurant. Craving for Indian food has pulled me and my friends to Rishis. Appreciate the food and effort in bringing the South Indian taste to Dundee. The spread of delicacies is really good. But the back-to-back ill-treatment received from the restaurant staff is really disappointing. Unfortunately to have fallen the victims of a very bad attitude and ignorance in terms of not facilitating table for dine-in, quoting we haven't pre-booked and poor attention while serving was the first couple of instances. It can be well understood the priorities or preferences for pre-booked customers, especially during busy hours. But, the unprofessional treatment was shooing us off the restaurant. The recent instance was for a birthday dinner when a table for 5 was pre-booked. On reaching the restaurant and mentioning the booking made, a very cold response from the staff-in-charge made us wait and even re-confirmed our booking out of a suspicious look, which made all 5 of us uncomfortable. We were charged an additional 10 pounds at the end, as a service charge, asking of which the staff revised and produced a new bill without intimating what it was and no further communication. It was very unpleasant during our 3 out of 4 visits made to this restaurant. Indian students visiting this restaurant deserve normal treatment like any other, in my opinion. Also, with the good dosas, try to serve fresh chutney at room temperature, not the cold ones!

The food was good. Honestly could have been better with non veg dishes. We ordered Schezwan chicken fried rice though it was not on the menu. They said they could make it but the taste was average . But other veg dishes we ordered such as Madras masala Dosa, Jeera rice, and paneer curry was really yummy 😋. Again request for quick service.not sure if it was weekend so the service was late or because less staff, it took almost an hour to get our mains to table after having the starters. Gobi Manchurian quantity was poor.

this is the best Indian restaurant in Dundee, we were in a table of 10, staff efficient and quick to take drink orders, and food orders, everything arrived hot and at the table same time, the food was delicious, the service was fantastic, all the staff are very friendly and helpful, even played birthday music for our birthday girl, everything about this place is immaculate. looking forward to our return.

Clean and tidy. Reasonable lunch menu. Hope it could be more spicy (but I am sure you could ask for it). The restroom is so clean and warm. I would go back.

Decent food and decent price for the portion especially the big prata

As always, Rishi’s is the choice for Dosa in Glasgow and when we went Dundee then there. We always like there Madras masala dosa and mango lassi. Though we don’t like much their Sambhar and Chutney as those are not so spicy but can understand that not everyone likes that spicy in UK. But overall the ambience is so good , location is so good. Parking is a little problem but you can find some spot around and even there is a parking lot just opposite the road. Also if you go during evening then there are some spot in back roads near central mosque are also free.

This is the second time I have been with my husband. Lovely food, which is reasonable in price and about average to other places we go to eat. We will go back soon.

Fabulous food and top notch service.

There were six of us the meals were served one at a time. The mixed grill was served first, which was then cold by the time the others were served. One meal was even served to another place first and then finally bought to us.te korma was spicy and you couldn't taste the coconut. I would not recommend this restaurant at all

An absolute must for indian food lovers. It was very busy and we could see why. Very interesting menu and really excellent service. I had the Haggis pakora starter and the lamb dish for main very impressive presentation. I would recommend booking and look forward to going again when I return in a few months.

Dosa and sambar are very good. But kothuparotta is not authentic.

Lovely Indian food. Railway Lamb was the best my husband has had. My Rogan Gosh was delicious too, served with yummy chilli broccoli, rice and garlic naan. Ordered an extra Railway Lamb to eat next day with leftovers takeaway. Staff were lovely and efficient.

It is hard to describe how good this restaurant is, the food is out there with some of the best I have eaten - proper Indian food (not Bangladeshi). The dosa is the best I have EVER had. Portion size is huge, value fantastic, service attentive, flavour blows you away. Every expectation exceeded. Thank you so much for a gut busting flavour explosion guys.

Food was really spicy despite not ordering a spicy meal. Loads of food - more than we could finish. Not the best I’ve had but not the worst. Crazy busy and so loud I could t hear myself think. Not the dining experience we wanted so we didn’t linger.

Was in Dundee on business so decided to eat here for a change from the hotel. Was seated quickly but there were not many people in, my starter arrived before my drink, also it was the wrong drink. The starter was okay, it was a large portion but I ate it all. My main was a vegetable biriyani and it was a ridiculous sized portion. The rice was in a large bowl with a spoon and would have served 3 people easily. The curry sauce was in a very small dish and was very disproportionate. I spotted something in the rice that looked like chicken and had to get the waiters attention. He came over and advised it was paneer, in my world that is not a vegetable. The rice also had cardamom in which I hate and have never encountered in a vegetable biriyani in all of my life and I have had a few. I just couldn't eat it. I would not come here again.

Excellent food and fantastic staff

Ordered a takeaway for collection- advised 40 mins but wasn’t ready until over an hour later. £28 - Both curries were stone cold and naan bread broke up when we removed it from bag. Extremely disappointing. Phoned to complain, no offer of refund (even part) but we could order again and he would give us free curry(?)…..why would we?

Don't be put off (politically) by the name. Excellent menu, lovely staff, great food. Booking advised.
