Goa in Dundee City

Disappointed, usually enjoy Goa, Tikka masala was like Heinz tomato soup and chapattis were stale (threw them out) .

Disgraceful charging £4 for a delivery that was almost an hour late. I would like a refund please

We received a flyer advertising Goa in Broughty Ferry. After years of regular meals from Bombay Joes we thought we'd try Goa. I ordered a takeaway for delivery. And was given a time of 7:55pm expecting somewhere between 7:50pm and maybe 8:15pm. I called at 8:35pm asking where our meal was, I could hardly hear the person on the phone due to loud background noise. He told me the takeaway was ready and waiting for a driver, assuring me that it would still be hot, he then said the driver had arrived. We are only a 3, maybe 4 minute drive from the restaurant. Almost 15 minutes later the meals arrived. They were very average, barely warm and cold nann bread. We won't be back.

Delivery driver was really friendly and very apologetic but the food had clearly been sitting sweating in the bag for ages. Soggy lukewarm food really wasn’t great. Goa is amazing as a sit in restaurant but they just can seem to get take aways right at all. Shame as their food is normally amazing.

Appalling collection - order not prepared on time despite 1.5 hr notice, noone asked my name and it was brought out and dumped without telling me - shambolic! Food very good but I’ll be off to Bombay Joes next time.

Excellent restaurant! The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and very generous portions. They even gave us 2 extra poppadoms on the house. Highly recommend!!

I say the same thing every week because Goa’s meals are consistently delicious every week and the delivery drivers are proper gentlemen and the food is always delivered piping hot 😊

We travel across to Broughty Ferry monthly from Perthshire and part of the joy of our visit are special trips to Goa. From stepping through the door the experience and the food is nothing short of outstanding together with the warm familiar welcome we receive from the attentive and courteous team there. From our Popadums and zingy Pickle Tray to Kebabs and the deliciously piquant Lamb Chops to our favourites - Moonlit and Butter Chicken together with superb Roti and crispy Paratha - the food experience is a journey of amazing flavours and deliciously satisfying high quality produce cooked to perfection to traditional recipes. The Team know us well now and remember our favourites, which makes ordering simple as we start our gastronomic journey!! Service is prompt, attentive and courteous and nothing is too much trouble - even to packing up the remainder of our meal - which we refer to as 'Treasure’ - to take home to have for supper the next evening!! A delicious treat to enjoy after the event! Thank you Goa for the wonderful food and dining experiences we've shared with you so far - we look forward to many more. Once again we have had another nice meal tonight. I had the jumbo prawn korma with coconut rice and it was beautiful and so tasty. We also had the sharing platter and that was really tasty. We also had a garlic nan, pershawri nan and poppadoms with salsa and mango chuckney and it was so tasty. The staff were lovely and attentive.

My family and I have been here several times and we have always loved all the meals as well as the friendly staff. Good portions with rich flavours that never stop surprising us. There are plenty of gluten-free options and for other intolerances as well. Highly recommend it!

BE CAREFUL _ THE STAFF STEAL - we were with a group of freinds and property of my wifes was stolen by a member of staff. The restuarant owner did nothing about it and we were constantly fobbed off and they didnt care about it, retrurn phone calls or show any concern . Very dishonourable.

Goa is absolutely fantastic. We are regulars and it is the go to restaurant for when we have friends and family visiting. The starters and main courses are delicious, and the service is faultless (you’re never waiting long at all). Very good value for money. It can be busy at the weekend because it is so good, so you should phone or book ahead in advance. Ignore any reviews of less than 5 stars!

There is a warm friendly atmosphere in Goa. Staff are all superb. It is our and our family's favourite place to eat. Food is always delicious. We can not fault it in any way.

Tried booking for Saturday 3rd August online. There was availability at 6pm. No response from Goa. Phoned to confirm, only to be told that they had no tables. No point in offering time slots online if they have no availability. Very disappointing.

Called impromptu to request a table for 2 for Saturday evening. We were told that one would be available at 8.30pm, so we waited the two hours and drove into the ferry, but when we arrived, the restaurant was completely full, and looked very cramped and noisy. The waiter told us that it would be at least a 15 minute wait as they were running behind time. Before we could reply he left us to serve another customer and didn't return. We sat in the seating area for a while but weren't acknowledged, so we left and went to Bombay Joe's instead, who thankfully had a table available, where we had a fabulous meal and were very well attended to. We won't be back to Goa, as this is not the first time this situation has happened, but we've given the benefit of doubt previously. Poor organisation on management's part We cannot comment on the food in this instance, but the whole scenario was just disappointing.

We ordered a carry out at 6.40 and we're told it would be an hour for collection. We duly turned up at 7.40 and were told they were running a bit late. We waited and waited and choas ensued. People were turning up for booked tables and were told they would have to wait for 45 mins for a table. We saw 2 lots of 6 people walk away rather than wait. Food for delivery was sitting in bags for at least 20 minutes before being taken away. Eventually at 8.40 , 2 hours after ordering our carry out was ready. I complained that they shouldn't say an hour for collection if they know they can't deliver. I for one won't use them again. They don't really care as they are so busy.

First time trying GOA and the food was fantastic, my partner said the Madras was hot and done properly. Everything arrived on time and piping hot, well worth the money, we'll definitely be ordering again

Mains warm but good, starters mild, had to reheat and lost its texture. Called restaurant about late delivery and they just said they were busy.

So completely and utterly disappointed with tonight’s meal. We have been loyal Goa customers for a very long time. We often order take away, come in for meals and buy vouchers for family members. Ordered our takeaway tonight and my husband drove the 20 minutes from our home to collect it. He arrived home and we found there were items missing. Chips, salad etc We called to advise and were asked if we could come back for them. We said we could but we live 20 minutes away so asked if a fresh curry could be prepared as the original one would be freezing and 40 minutes old by the time we came back home. The man who we spoke to on the phone had a really terrible and argumentative attitude. They point blank refused to provide fresh curries - despite the fact this was their mistake. We were given 2 options - come and pick up the chips and other items we had paid for but they had forgotten and come back to a cold old curry or pay £30 for a curry and eat it with half it missing ?! Basically like it or lump it. Mistakes happen, that is not an issue but as a business you should rectify it. We will not be back. Years of loyalty to be treated like that. Awful. To top it off we told them to leave it - we will make do and not be returning. The rice was all clumped together and chewy and the curry was disappointing.

Goa food is the best food I’ve ever eaten, it is consistently delicious, delivered on time, piping hot and the delivery drivers are always very pleasant and respectful

Was recommended to try Goa by several people. Can honestly say this is the nicest Indian takeaway I've had in about a decade. Well worth the extra 10 minutes to broughty ferry to get it. Special shout out to the korma sauce and fish pakoras.

We were out for a family meal, myself my partner and his 2 daughters 18 & 20 when the 18 year old was refused a 2nd cocktail as they felt as she had just turned 18 and not been drinking long it was not appropriate for her to have a second! She was with her father who is better placed to make that decision. They said it was illegal to serve her, totally ridiculous and incorrect. How dare they when she was clearly not intoxicated having had only one drink. Absolutely spoiled our evening.

Driver needs to read delivery instructions and not just leave on doorstep

My wife and I ate at Goa whilst having a weekend break in Broughty Ferry. A wonderful experience, the premises and the food were excellent and the staff were even better. Thank you very much Goa, we shall return. DB

Overall lovely meal waiters were accommodating and helpful however towards end of the meal were given the bill without asking then they hounded us to get paid we hadn't finished our drinks then he was waiting on my wife coming out of toilet to hand her the machine very disappointed there was 2 empty tables so they weren't desperate for the table we were only in restaurant for 11/2 hours

Food from the Goa is just so delectable that I treated myself to an extra meal last night!! It is always delivered by smiling happy delivery drivers on time and piping hot 😊

The meal I got from Goa was disgusting I ordered chicken tikka masala the sauce was off & instead of getting Pliau rice & I got egg fried rice the meal went in the bin I won’t be using GOA again totally disgusting

First time in this resturant when in Ferry on holiday, food and service was excellent, staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely visit again when in the area.

Starters were excellent, and from there meal.went downhill. Not one of the mains ordered was correct. My rice was stone cold, so sent it back. Rice was returned but not the other half of the main. So the other replacement was given, and the two curries tasted totally different. The chicken was in tiny pieces and obviously reheated and hard. All the Nan breads were burnt on the base. We at least got £30 off the bill. The service was poor beyond belief. To be honest, it's one of the worst curry experiences ever. So never again. I would suggest looking elsewhere with good food and excellent service.

Very very disappointing and upsetting for our guests. Ordered delivery at 7.30pm . Phoned repeatedly throughout the evening to be told the order would be delivered “soon” or “15 minutes” etc. arrived 10.00pm!! Totally out of order . Regular customer up to now but will no longer be a customer. Derisory discount offered . Total disgrace because the food is not the issue but customer service most definitely is!

We had such a lovely evening. Went there for the first time and I think it is easily the best Indian restaurant I've ever been to. The flavours are amazing, servings very generous and the staff is super friendly and attentive. We had lamb chops and Chicken Pakoras to start with and also were served Poppadoms with deliciously spiced onion chutney. The starters were all amazing, especially the lamb chops. For mains we had moonlit chicken, Goan special and Kashmir chicken, all first-rate. The naan was wonderfully fluffy. We can only recommend this place and will definitely return.

A huge selection to choose from and the staff are friendly and very efficient. I had a chicken curry and the food was very, very good. I highly recommend giving Goa a try and you won't be disappointed.

Got a takeaway from here. Large portion sizes, struggled to finish it all! Excellent taste, my dish was really flavourful and my husbands had a good kick to it. Definitely would order from here again. Out teenagers really enjoyed the food which is rare!

I’ve been in many Indian restaurants in theUK and abroad as well as eating Pakistani home cooking but this place takes the biscuit. The food is attractive, varied and excellent, staff very friendly, helpful, intuitive and attentive. (Not overly so). The atmosphere is good and the seating comfortable. All in all an excellent place to dine out. We will certainly go back. Probably worth a phone call to book as I’m sure it will be very busy most evenings.

Order was an hour late, told twice it was on way, arrived lukewarm and dry. Paid £60 to have to reheat in microwave. Food was of a very average standard. Nowhere near good enough food or service!

We have been going to goa for years and usually it’s good and I can’t get over Terrible delivery experience we had and the customer service we had last night. We ordered our food for 5:45pm on arrival to collect they said there was a mistake and that it was ordered for 6:45pm (they were more focused on there restaurant than the service of there takeaway customers),we had a taxi running outside so had to leave we were told our food will be delivered shortly and not to worry… wow were they wrong! It reached 7:30 and still no sign. We called several times and no one would answer, eventually after numerous attempts when we got someone we asked to speak to the manger and the excuses of why we couldn’t were absolutely shocking! “There in, there not in, there on holiday, in hospital, nope there coming in” We were told again on the phone the food is on route this was at 8:30pm and they hung up on us. The food arrived at 9pm and the order was completely wrong undercooked and most of it ended up in the bin the samosas had not been cooked and nan was not cooked. I am just absolutely stunned at the lack of customer care from the staff and we were not even refunded a penny or even offered extra food or just anything! Overall I will not be wasting my money again with this place and from what I can see on trip adviser I’m not the only one recently to have this terrible experience, Goa you need to have a serious look at how you train your staff to talk to customers and how to provide a resolve and deliver a service that your promising with delivery times and correct orders

Ordered a take away at 5.30 on a Saturday night, was given a collection time of 7pm.. got there to collect it, waited half an hour and then a member of staff said they hadn’t even started the order. Other people had been waiting 90 mins plus. Absolute chaos and cannot cater for demand.

Absolutely awful service. We got a takeaway delivery we ordered at 5:30pm and it did not get delivered until 8:26pm. We phoned the restaurant multiple times and no answer. We also contacted the facebook messenger page with no answer either. Once the order came it was missing x3 things. Absolutely shocking. Next we will time order from somewhere else.

We ordered our meal at about 6:10pm and it was supposed to be to arrive between 7.35-7.55. When it didn’t, we phoned the restaurant and they said it was just being prepared. By 9pm it had still not arrived so we requested our money back. The food arrived at 9:55pm by which time it was too late. We sent it back.

I ordered food at 18.00, the restaurant said it would be ready for collection at 18.35, I waited in the restaurant until 20.30 until my food was ready. There were customers that were seated post 20.00 getting food before we received our collection order. There was no communication between staff and we were unable to get an update on our food while we waited with 10 other customers in the same position as us

Placed the order at 17:55 the restaurant began deliveries from 18:10 my order turned up at 20:45 and was missing the drinks. Food was ok but the evening was essentially ruined by the time taken and missing items. I’ll be going to bed angry & thirsty tonight unfortunately. I wish I’d just cancelled it and ordered a pizza, I’m kicking myself now.

Spot on again! When my husband and I visit Broughty Ferry my husband and always try to visit Goa as the food and service are excellent. Last night’s visit was no different, freshly prepared food, value for money and friendly attentive service.

Amazing food, amazing staff and very welcoming. Young girl that served us (26/02/2024) was lovely and very polite. Gentleman offered us complimentary drinks 🍸 which was a lovely gesture.

Beautiful meal. I had the vegetable karahi with garlic and chilli naan,which was delicious. The service was fast and efficient, the staff were pleasant and the food was freshly cooked and fantastic. It's one of the nicest curries I've had for a long time.

There were a lot of pakora rather than fewer, bigger ones. The size of them meant you didn’t really taste very much. The bhuna was not very nice at all and tasted vaguely like lemon juice or vinegar. It wasn’t nice at all unfortunately so I will likely go back to the Jahangir in future where it’s consistently good. The naan was also overcooked. Altogether it wasn’t a great meal but other reviews lead me to believe this may just have been a blip, which is a real shame.

What was to be a lovely Valentines Dinner turned out to be a disappointment. Mediocre Indian Food at a very Costly price ( The Online Website fails to state that the ‘Menu’ Prices listed are for Carry Out and Delivery only. Instead of being allowed to relax and enjoy a drink to start with - We were continually interrupted by the waiter to take a food Order. This resulted in what we tried to prevent - The Meal arriving before we were half way through our Drinks. Felt we were being rushed through our meals to get more tables ready and available ! Our Table was cleared and cleaned as we tried to finish drinks. Have enjoyed Indian Meals at restaurants for many years now - but will give this establishment a swerve in future.

Had a lovely Valentine's meal courtesy of the friendly and attentive staff. The restaurant was beautifully decorated for the occasion, and the food was second to none. This was our first visit and we'll definitely be going back. Thank you Goa :)

Went to Goa on valentines night, the attention to detail was amazing, red roses on each table heart balloons around the restaurant they really went all out to make it romantic. The service and food was AMAZING as always. Highly recommend and already planning my next visit.

I have always ordered a takeaway from GOA but never ate in the actual restaurant until tonight. The food was amazing (as suspected) and the staff were absolutely lovely and really attentive.
