Bombay Joe's in Dundee City

Best Indian restaurant in the city by a country mile. The standard of the food is so superior. I had a lamb saag and the meat was falling apart. Always great service, delicious food, and in such a perfect location. Every time I come home I’m sure to order from here.

100% disagree with the last two reviews. Always wonder if these people complain at the time to give the restaurant a chance to put it right or if they just jump straight on here…? We visited as a couple very recently. Absolutely epic! New to the area and found this little gem of a restaurant. Wonderful service, top quality food. I ordered the mixed platter for my main - so much meat and all perfectly cooked. The service was great, very attentive and polite staff. We will be back!

Got a delivery from here, late, cold, no flavour, garlic naan was plain, chicken korma was a veg korma. Spoilt my night. Avoid like the plague, there are plenty of better takeaways around here.

This is my favourite Indian restaurant, I like the smaller setting, service is excellent and the food was amazing, in particular the jumbo prawn dishes.

Loved every dish ive had, as has the rest of my party(s) every time. My mum hasn't stopped going on about the Agra Taj since - best Paneer Tikka ive tried also. Great service, and when getting a takeaway delivery is always on time😀 Keep it up guys.

Ordered Bombay Joes. Though it was at last moment, so didnt bothered to ask the amount. I saw their add on JE, where the dilivery charges were £0/- Anyway, as per time the order waa delivered. After half n hour receiced a call that the order was mixed with some one else. So the driver came to deliver again. A) Dal makhni made me Vomit, perhaps of food poisoning. The owner refused to accept that the same pan of Non-Veg was not used. B) Ordered 3 Butter Nan, received one Butter nan, that too Rotten/Burnt from one side. I should have taken pics of that. I told the owner, neither I am asking refund or any free delivery. Instead of apologising, he threw the blame on me. He was not sorry for Delivering someone elae food to me, which was Non Veg. Take measures to order deliveries from Bombay Joes.

Really enjoyed our first dine in experience at Bombay Joe’s. We have had as a take away on a few occasions. The food was fabulous, the restaurant was very busy, but still the service was friendly and efficient. Never felt rushed. We will definitely visit again.

March 2024 Called in to order a takeaway and saw the various awards on the walls.This made me expect first class meal but I was disappointed. Ordered two chicken korma with pileu rice (asked for extra cream in sauce). The korma was best described as bland having very little taste with a thin watery sauce. The rice was OK but not as flavoursome you can get in other establishments. Carryout was priced at nearly £30 so all in all this made a one star meal.

Great meal with friends. Not been here in 15 years. Will return as food was lovely.

Fantastic as usual, never had a bad meal here. Would thoroughly recommend. We were seated quickly, offered drinks straight away, offered more drinks when bringing the main course. We never had to ask the server to come over for anything. Great service and we were well looked after.

Went on a Saturday night at 19.15h having booked. We were ignored and kept waiting at entrance while staff chatted to a friend; very poor welcome. Ordered two side dishes with peshwari nan. As previously noted, very expensive but it was very nice.Waited almost one hour before it arrived. Had to ask twice for the nan which arrived after we had eaten some mouthfuls. No one asked how meal was and we asked three times for bill before getting up, putting our coats on and going up to counter to pay. I hate this. It was very busy which you would expect on a Saturday. However, decor not inspiring, no atmosphere and customers sitting on top of each other. Wouldn’t return but maybe better to get a takeaway.

Just had 2 overly priced currys delivered, Took an hour and a half to arrive. Currys were tasteless with no flavour. Will not be ordering again

First in a while since we’ve had a carry out.food was first class and I’ll definitely be visiting it more often.

Food was fantastic, probably the best we have tasted, Pashwari naan was amazing, staff were so nice and attentive.

Decided to go for a date night with my husband and seen the good reviews for this restaurant. Unfortunately we were extremely disappointed. We would go as far to say this meal was the worse we have ever had. The food is extremely expensive for the quality and quality you get. £7 for onion bhaji that was exactly like the one you get from Tesco. £15.95 for a chicken passanda... this curry was the worse thing I've ever tasted. It was like eating warm cream. No seasoning or flavour. Just warm cream. The chicken was terrible too. I had to add mango chutney to it to make it edible enough to have a few mouthfuls. Not once were we asked how our food was. In fact the waiter was sat behind the bar alot. My husband in the end got up to ask for him to bring the bill and stood at the bar looking at the waiter and the waiter remained there texting on his mobile, and didn't even look up. In the end my husband abruptly said can you bring the bill. The waiter came over and took the plates and still didn't ask if everything was alright. So we got up and paid. After we paid my husband said 'are you not once going to ask how everything was' and explained that it was the worse meal and we would never return and also said about the service not being much better and about how the waiter was too busy texting. The waiter said 'it's just our delivery drivers as we also do takeaways that's why I am on the phone'. He did apologise and say sorry for the food and the service as we were leaving but it didn't repair the damage. Almost £70 our of pocket on an overpriced inedible meal. Absolutely awful experience.

We went here after reading reviews about it being the best Indian restaurant in Dundee. Disappointingly we found it to be over rated. The food was expensive and mediocre. We found the poppadoms and chutney expensive with them charging over £5 for the chutneys when in most Indian restaurants you get them included with the price of the poppadoms. The menu continued to be at least £2 over what we would expect to pay. The rice was luke warm and the curry nothing special. I found this along with the high prices disappointing. By all means go and find out for yourselves but we definitely won’t be returning.

Describe to me the best meal I’ve ever eaten in my life, and Bombay Joe’s is in the top 10 list. The incredible service and portion size is 🔥🔥🔥 I’ll come for a sit in and a take away!!! My choice for when meeting friends and they ask where to go. It’s a cozy place for sure.

Food not great.. presentation not appealing... loud phone kept ringing. Loud Bollywood music on TV in background. Certainly not the Bombay Joe standard we have been used to in the past. Expensive for what we got !!

Chose to eat here for the first time and I can say I was not disappointed. The curry I had was amazing (chicken Kashmiri ) and my husband had a tandoori platter which was also spectacular. The service was friendly and attentive and had a good mix of ensuring you were satisfied but also leaving you to enjoy your privacy and your food . The only down side was the size of the food choice on the menu so I really struggled to chose as I wanted to try all If it! Will need to go back to try another dish. One of the best Indian meals we’ve had. And the naan bread is the best I’ve ever tasted . Light and buttery . Very impressed.

Delicious food, amazing mango lassis, lovely service. There is a really varied menu with something that will please all tastes. I would especially recommend the garam masala curry with lamb and the peshwari naan. We will definitely be returning to Bombay Joe’s!

My wife and I ate at bombay joes on a Friday evening. The staff where very pleasant and friendly. The food was exceptional in quality and taste, go when you are hungry or you will be taking home a doggy bag. Improvements I would suggest, table cloths, uniforms and monitor the volume of the background music, it was a little loud for the amount of people in the restaurant at the time.

Had an excellent meal with family at Bombay Joes. We were visiting from Canada and were looking to enjoy a great curry. Bombay Joes did not disappoint. The food was delicious and the service was great.

Whenever we visit Broughty Ferry, Dundee, we always find time to visit Bombay Joe’s and it never disappoints. The choice and quality of the food is outstanding and the service is friendly and informative. Bombay Joe’s has won awards in the past and deserves to do so again.

Visited as we staying very close by. It is very unassuming from the outside, just a doorway between shops. We had one of the best Indian meals we have ever eaten. The service was excellent and all the dishes were cooked to order and absolutely delicious. Really fun atmosphere, a total find in Dundee. We will be back.

Fantastic food and top notch service. Came here for a last minute booking with 20 people when other establishments couldn’t accommodate us - the guys couldn’t do any more to help, went above and beyond. Great food, great service, worth every penny!

Dine in. We called at the last minute, and they managed to accommodate us. I loved the food, and my son says the Chana Massala (v) is the best curry he has eaten. We live in Wales but detour to Bombay Joes in the Ferry when we can. The first time I went, I thought it was a little pricey, but i didn't think so on this visit. In any case, this is high-quality food and worth it.

Been in Angus for 12 years discovered by accident. Wish I found this sooner, brilliant menu, excellent staff and the food just wow. As I said probably the best Indian restaurant I have found in 12 years of searching Angus.

Celebrating our anniversary & staying in Broughty Ferry we booked the restaurant. The atmosphere & setting is very clean with modern Punjabi videos playing. Food was excellent, delicious flavours. Helpful service and chat about the growth of the business. We would defo recommend Bombay Joe's and will certainly return!

Great, interesting menu and the food doesn't disappoint when it arrives - very well presented and so tasty. We had one vegetarian and one chicken dish with naan rather than rice. One naan between two was ample and the portions of the main dishes were also good. The restaurant is very well appointed, providing a good atmosphere and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The restaurant has won awards and I can see why. Highly recommended.

Excellent!. First time visiting. Amazing menu, all our different dishes were very tasty with plenty of food. Service was exemplary. A very lovely atmosphere and decor in the place too. An absolute gem. I wouldn't hesitate to be back and would definitely reccommend it!.

Great little restaurant. Food was excellent and naan bread different to any we had seen previously. Only complaint was the price charged for what was a relatively cheap bottle of wine.

We arrived without a booking and they were more than happy to seat us. We noticed they had won best curry in Dundee for two years and we were excited to try it. The menu was filled with a huge number of options for both meat eaters and vegetarians. The food was amazing and we ended up ordering too much since the portion sizes were surprisingly large. Luckily they packaged up the leftovers and we got to enjoy it the next day. Amazing food and amazing service. Definitely recommend.

Very slow to deliver after placing order on line with a freind having to return home without eating on latest order. Previouse deliveries have been wrong with missing items from past orders. Food generally is good with generous portion sizes.

Placed an order for home delivery, inadvertently I sent the wrong address & after a call it was redelivered within 15mins….excellent service & much appreciated!

Absolute waste of money!!! Chansni has no flavour apart from Sweet n Salty!!!! Chips reheated & dried up and Pilau Rice had no taste whatsoever 🤬🤬🤬 also Keema Nan the meat just falls out. Stopped going here as standards were falling - but thought we'd give it a go again CLEARLY A BIG MISTAKE!!!

Have a lovely meal last night. Great selection of curries. Really tasty and the staff were all pleasant. Restaurant was also nice and clean through seating areas and in toilets. Would recommend it.

Had a family gathering here tonight and the food was outstanding. No problems with the order whatsoever considering we were ordering for 12 people. I personally opted for the "Janter Manter" and what a delicious curry it was. Credit where credit is due. I'll be back for sure.

I Just had a takeaway delivered from Bombay Joe's which was excellent and with all the extras included in the price very good value for money. I would recommend them to anyone. Thank you Bombay Joe's for a great meal (more like a banquet)

Incredibly expensive and average restaurant. £10 for kids meal (chicken nuggets and chips & ice cream). Ordered prawn puri which contained tiny prawns swimming in a not so great sauce. Lamb bhuna and peshwari nan nice enough and staff very attentive but for the money I'd expect food to be of a higher standard.

Staff very attentive and you get more food than you can shake a stick at! To be honest the portions are definitely big boy size and you couldn't possibly be disappointed.

Superb. Great, friendly service. Maybe it's the amount of time that's passed since the authorities have allowed us to no longer be under house arrest, and as a result, not being able to frequent restaurants, but this is a meal that will remain in my memory for a long time, for all the right reasons. Exquisite vegetable samosas and the paneer chilli masalla was incredible.

I chose Agra Taj which had a fresh and sweet flavour. Would recommend to anyone wanting an alternative to the popular Korma. My husband had Garam Tikka Masala. I had a taste and it had a deeper, more complex flavour with a comforting level of spice. Garlic naan and pilau rice to accompany. Everything was delicious. It was a takeaway tonight so just in and out for me but I've been many times and always get the warmest welcome.

Because of the times in which we find ourselves ,an oasis is BOMBAY JOE,S.The wife and I decided that an Indian would fit the bill,and they certainly did this with one of their set meals (takeaway) ,and at very competitive prices!!Beautiful tasty curry,and in 20 minutes! My friends and relatives will be getting the NOD.Next time we have to dine-out.

Fantastic food! Omg actually struggled to stop eating. Garlic naan was one of the best we’ve ever had. Tikka masala was full of flavour without being cream heavy! Madras was hot as it should be but so full of flavour the heat didn’t matter if you enjoy a hot curry! Service was fantastic, nothing was too much trouble! 100% will return, easily one of the best curry houses we’ve visited!

We had a fantastic meal here. Service was friendly and fast and our food was wonderful. The menu offers dishes I've never seen anywhere else - we just had to try the haggis pakora and were delighted we had - and portions are so generous that we staggered home with a large doggy bag. The chicken thali was a thing of beauty (you can even choose your spice level) and the spiced onion naan bread a revelation. We only wish we had a Bombay Joe's on our doorstep.

OMG - What a fantastic curry. Great service and advice about dishes. Ordered as we would in the UK only to be pleasantly surprised by the size of the portions and the quality of the food. Would definitely return for a second visit

Enjoyed my food very much but personally thought meals were quite expensive.

Went for high tea with my husband both of us had a great meal plenty of it and very tasty. Lovely choice on menu to suit everyone place very clean and staff friendly would return if in Broughty ferry again also reasonably priced.
