We popped in when visiting the locks at Fort Augustus and they were about to close within 20mins but could not have been more welcoming and friendly. None of us are vegans but all their cakes (and there are a lot of delish options) are homemade and vegan friendly. Tea is also reasonably priced for a pot for two. Enjoyed a chat with the owner who gave us some great advice about golf courses near Inverness which we took and thoroughly enjoyed.

My wife and I came in here on our charity walk from Lands End to John O’Groats. We were joined by our friends and had a lovely coffee. The service was great and it was lovely and clean with a pleasant feel.

Visiting Fort Augustus on a nice busy day we were looking for somewhere for a cuppa and a cake only when we came across Ripples. With seating outside overlooking the Amal this was a perfect place for a relaxing cuppa and scone. Don’t be fooled they do only do drinks and cakes (no sandwiches) but definitely worth the visit….so much so that we went back a couple hours later for another cuppa and to share a cake…the blonde was delicious as we’re the earlier cheese scones with butter and chutney. There is only one loo but have to say it was spotless even on a very busy day…

You must stop here for desserts and coffee. 10 stars. I’m going to have to figure out a way to get back to Loch Ness just so I can stop by here again.

We had some really delicious cake and tea. I would definitely recommend the banana chocolate cake and the apple caramel cake. The service was really nice and I would definitely stop there again.

Lucky to find that dinner was available on one of the nights. The meal was excellent. Extremely well cooked, presented and served. Don't miss the opportunity to eat there if you can. Elaine is a great cook/chef.

Food was nice and service was, for the most part, friendly. One server seemed to be having a bad day. Brusque and barely civil. Very expensive for what was served.

Agree with the other reviews. This is an unlikely place to find at the end of the world. We felt welcomed and in the main enjoyed our stay. The only downside was the cost for the 2 of us. £200 for a snack, breakfast, plate of curry and a bunkhouse bed with no shower and a outside toilet seemed breathtaking expensive. To put this into perspective, we go to a nice hotel each year for a winter break, that's more than we pay per day at the hotel with vastly more civilized amenities. I do understand there are logistics involved at Cape wrath. However for an 'ordinary' local Scottish person I'd be looking to stay at sandwood bay and make a lunch trip to the cafe as I simply can't justify the cost/value. However, it is altogether improbably situated and a must experience if you are doing a long walk. Just be prepae your expectations.
