Very friendly staff, great selections of meats. Buffet food was great as well. Atmosphere could have been a little better

Not the burger I enjoyed the last time I came here late last year, although still under-seasoned. I had a classic half-pounder with the intention of adding my own thousand island dressing @ home. But I ended up throwing half of it away. Burgers were tasteless, not nice at all. As for the salad, limp scraps of lettuce and one pathetic paper-thin slice of tomato, the saddest burger I can remember eating. That’ll do me. I’ll make my own in future, with quality burgers and crisp, fresh salad.

Mediocre hamburger, made worse by Rio's no longer providing sauces/relishes as they did when I was reccomending it to my friends! When I asked for relish, I was given a stingy amount. I won't be using Rio's again, and neither will my friends!

Went to Rios with a group of friends. The whole order was wrong and when I spoke to the manager, he refused a refund or replacement and told us to F Off. I have never been treated so badly and will be taking this further.

My boyfriend and I stopped to eat here and we are so glad we did! The burgers are so good and they have plenty of options. The cheesy fries (chips) are also lovely. Staff was super friendly and we will definitely return!

Rio's is long established in Newbury. It has a wide range of burgers on offer, far more than the multiples. The beef and chicken burgers are way superior to their big competitors.

Ordered twice in last few months and wait time has been at least 45 minutes dispute being advised order will be ready in 15 minutes. A little honesty would go a long way! always allow extra time but arrive to find they haven’t even started cooking order yet, after 30 minutes since ordering.

Had a delivery to thatcham but unfortunately the food was freezing when it arrived. Such a shame. The burgers tasted ok but cold, chips were also cold. Waited 1hr 10mins for delivery.

Had bacon burger . soft bun, big slab of bacon and tender burger. Just amazing!! From the man told to say "Ya" when I went in ;-)

Great little independent restaurant. Came here for the first time for a couple of burgers and fries. Lots of choices, extra's and combinations. Very friendly owner. Great value for money. You can eat in or take away. Good quality meat. Food came quickly.

Having found out that a couple of friends had never had a Rio's burger even though they had been in Newbury for quite some time now, my partner and I decided to treat them, and they rather enjoyed themselves! I love the options and how nice the staff are. for me it's great that there are so many veggie options but I do have my favourites!

Popped into Rio’s for a bite to eat as working as a contractor for a customer in the area... great find as it is off the beaten track and the staff are great.

Great to see Rios still going strong. Good choice of fillings - sometimes too much choice! - nicely cooked burgers and chips. It's not fancy or expensive but you know what you're getting - a decent size meal, well cooked and at a reasonable price.

La comida no era de buena calidad y el orden recibido carne de hamburguesa estaba equivocado, en vez de pollo, dado aunque pollo claramente escrito en seguridad, no es genial cuando no comer carne.

Excelente para el precio hamburguesas relativamente bajo. Mucho mejor que la mayoría de los lugares más caros que ofrecen hamburguesas. Puedes conseguir 12 onzas de carne por £5.

A Newbury legend, excellent food, excellent staff, great burgers and brilliant combination. Can be very busy at times, but we'll worth the wait.

This little place is amazing! Went looking for something to eat and found Rios. When I walked through the door (which needs fixing, but I was assured it was on the list of things to do) I got a warm welcome despite the fact it was incredibly busy and the lady (Ruth) cooking offered a few tweaks to my burger which were amazing. I had been told this place was amazing and it was! I had a Baby Ruth, which Ruth herself cooked for me. Great burgers, great atmosphere, great staff!

...that's if you like burgers that is...but theyre lovely burgers with lots of options, nice chips, decent portions. just a great a burger bar really, not much else needs to be said.

Staff are really cool and friendly - always happy to help - they will deliver but don't leave it late to order for delivery on a Friday - they are always extra busy.

Despite appearances on the outside, Rio's does the best burgers around. The staff are always friendly and the menu is as extensive as anything you could hope for. The portions are good and service is brisk.Nowhere else comes close. Give Rio's a try and you won't be disappointed.

Amazing burgers in the heart of Newbury friendly staff only a small seating area beware they are usually very busy 10-15 minute wait we usually do a telephone order and it's always ready when we get there a must try if you're ever in the area

Rio's is amazing! We now Travel over 40 minutes Just to Enjoy one! Great Quality and Prices. A great range of burgers to choose from and I have never been disappointed! The drinks are always Ice Cold aswell - 5 Stars all day long.

Ordered a burger for delivery. They were 20 minutes earlier than estimated at time of order, which was great! Good customer service! Only criticism, ordered chips and they were quite bland and dry. Next time I'll order mozzarella sticks! Burgers are always tasty! A good all rounder!

I was very happy to find out that the veggie burgers at Rios are in fact also vegan :D and very tasty indeed! I had the patty with pineapple, mushrooms, lettuce, tomatoes and onion- with some extra sweet chilli sauce and it was delicious, and unbelievably good value at around £3.50. The chips are always on point- and there is also an option to add a hash brown to your burger :) would highly recommend for anyone that doesn't eat animal products but wants something cheap and tasty to eat on the go (or there is seating) will be a regular, Thanks!

This was such a surprise, the burgers are really delicious and made with a large variety of different ingredients. There are quite a few people making the burgers and the best way to think of these is bespoke burgers rather than fast food. It reminded me of the high quality fast food restaurants in New York where they are extremely popular, very busy but manage to produce really good food.

Their burgers, particularly the 6 and 8 oz aberdeen angus burgers are incredible. The combinations are epic, plus you man basically make up anything you want based on their huge list of available ingredients and they will make a price for it.

Sat in the office today and the radio presenter said it was "national fast food day". Within seconds we'd decided we had to join in and our first choice as ever, was Rio's!I've never had a duff burger from Rio's and today was no exception! I had a 6oz vampire which came loaded with mushrooms, cheese, garlic mayo and salad. Both my colleagues had New Yorkers - 6oz burgers with mushrooms, bacon, cheese, onion and salad. The 2 friendly and happy staff members had a slick system running with one taking the orders and the other cooking. It was lunch time, it was busy, but their teamwork saw everyone served quickly and efficiently - all cooked to order, and such fabulous value for money.I'm not a huge fast food fan but Rio's is different! It's proper meaty, tasty burgers with a massive variety of toppings, all such good quality and with generous portion sizes. If you like proper burgers full of flavour, you really cannot go wrong with Rio's. It's slightly hidden away but it's a real hidden gem.

How disappointing... there's been some hype about this place and we hadn't tried it before so we thought why not... we phoned up to be greeted by a girl on the end of the phone who was rude and abrupt. I asked if they delivered, the answer was yes for £3. I asked do you take card payment, the answer was yes for a 50p charge. I then started to proceeded to order and she didn't respond, lots of background noise but was clearly not interested in taking the order. I phoned back and said you just hung up on me, the response was what do you want to order? I thought, for £3.50 I've not even ordered anything yet... I won't bother... oh and by the way delivery will be ATLEAST and hour as if to say do you really have to order with us? Crazy, all the hard work in building up the hype to be let down by shoddy service. We wanted to order but it was impossible. Good luck if you can...

Heard a lot about it from friends & colleagues, have walked by many a time before. Took the plunge last weekend !!! It is a cute little take-away joint tucked in a rather narrow ally on the busy Bartholomew street in Newbury. Freshly hand-made burgers are simply delicious. The best i had over a long time. Tried the chicken phoenix and firecrackers and both had great flavors.

I have been going to Rios since they opened, when Mark first set it up. Having moved away I don't get there as often as I used to, but generally when I am in the area I make the detour to grab a burger & chips. They have a wide range of options, including my favourite, a Disney, and are as good today as they were when I first started going there, over 25 years ago.

Massive range of fillings to try (I've not tried them all yet). Best burgers I've ever tasted and the staff are great. A must if you are in the area and hungry.

The best variety of burgers in town. It is always very busy and you usually have to wait whilst your burger is being prepared but is a takeaway treat for us.

During a long drive I felt a pang of hunger and a quick Google search highlighted Rio's as being the nearest suitable spot for a manly burger! The wife and I parked up nearby (30 minutes free parking) and walked into the cosy cafe. There's more than just take out here. There's room to sit in and enjoy the smells as well. The gent running the place was extremely friendly and clearly knew his business. Ten minutes later, we were back on the road with a chicken burger for "She" and a mighty Hangover burger for me. We parked up in a country spot and enjoyed the most delicious burgers ever! No massive grease drips or gristle. Just good quality food that was well cooked. Filling and friendly. Definitely going back for another and there are about fifty different ones to choose from. Terrific!

If you are visiting Newbury for more than a day, or are there for night out, this is a must visit. Great burgers before the likes of GBK made it fashionable and still with a range that can teach the big chains a thing or two. Friendly staff who are happy to give advice or make up just about any burger combo you can think up.

What a good hamburger should be - packed with flavour and assembled with some thoughtful choices of extras. About as far removed (in exactly the right direction) as you can get from a flaccid, fast-food MacBurger with reconstituted fried potato.

Excellent choice of burgers, beef, chicken, lamb, with various fillings, all cooked to order while you wait. Chips too, if wanted, but I find the burgers so filling, I don't need anything else. Staff friendly, plenty of choice available. Very reasonably priced

As almost all the reviews here state, you can't go wrong with a Rio's. An insane selection of regular beef, chicken and veggie burgers. All the standard sides you'd expect and specials on offer means you'll always find something to your taste. Service is friendly and quick & you can see your food being cooked in front of you. If you're in Newbury and want some fast food, check this place out first.

I am a lifelong fan of Rios burgers - nothing out there quite beats the freshness or quality! I love the huge variety of burgers and toppings you can chose from, although I tend to stick with my favourite (Malibu - pineapple, bacon and bbq sauce), my husband enjoys sampling a different burger each time (he was really surprised by how tasty the Pacific burger with prawns was!). Service is always friendly and Mark always goes the extra mile.Keep doing what you're doing guys, you're an asset to the burger world ❤️

Service was friendly, if a little informal. The burger was presented nicely with the paper wrapped around the bun but, whilst waiting, I noted the brand of burger they use and discovered that the 'gamey' taste came from the cow heart that is in the mince. Not the premium quality ingredient I was expecting. I also discovered that the beef is Halal slaughtered so animal welfare standards are completely disregarded.

Popped in last night as pizza express had a long wait for food, 2 visit for us and again was lovely! Superb quality for the price! I went for the chicken burger - Blue Bird for a change and wow! Chicken breast lightly coated in a batter, so juicy, with lettuce, mayo and crumbled blue cheese Oh My!!! Amazing, will be back again soon ;-)

I've been going to Rios since 1995 and can honestly say I've never had a bad meal. The burgers are superb. Can highly recommend the Deluxe Disney. (Bacon, Cheese and Onion) The staff are always happy and friendly. Both Mark and Ruth are passionate about what they do and it shows. Best Burgers around by a long way.

I've been going to Rio's for years, and especially over the past year it's risen in both it's quality of tasty, tasty food and it's quality of good service with a sense of humour that the staff provide. The menu leaves you standing agog at the amount of the choice... and then you have the specials. Personally, I think The Hangover is the best thing to grace their menu, but I do loves me a hash brown or two in a burger.It's a local institution and long may it continue to be so!

This burger bar certainly deserves more reviews and recognition. It's a very popular place for locals and a decent alternative to Mcdonalds and Burger King. They serve a nice range of fillings for their flame grilled burgers as well chicken and vegetarian burgers. The chips are decent and plentiful and the prices are very satisfactory. As is the customer service especially with the manager. He's a very friendly chap who always engages in conversation when you're waiting for your order.My only problem is that the place is a bit too tucked away and a bit too small. There's only one table there so if you're hoping to eat there you might find someone else already sat there. But with the recent addition of home delivery and talks of expansion I can't complain.

I eat here at least twice a month. As I usually have the same thing (bbq sauce cheese burger) i only gave a fight comment on the consistency.. I feel that it's a good place but it is at its best when the owner is cooking (good guy) and can be a bit hit and miss at other times.Always busy!Still go back twice a month so worth a visit. I have my lovely grandson over visiting me from Slovakia. He loves burgers and they don't really have McDonald's where he lives so he said grandma I want a burger party. I was going to go to the usual burger franchise in Newbury when my son said go to rio's burger bar it's great. I had no idea where it was and I have lived in Newbury 30 years but I am so glad I found out finally. The service is great very friendly staff and the burgers are on a completely different level to the microwave burgers from McDonald's and Burger King. Really nice tasty burgers like proper American hamburgers and some great choices of toppings. My beautiful grandson was blown away and he summed it up perfectly he said " Grandma this is the yummiest burger in the whole wide world. And you are best grandma in the world for bringing me here can we go again tomorrow please grandma! Really worth trying out this place we will definitely be back.

Great service and delicious food. We ordered food for delivery to our home, it was delivered earlier than expected and it was nice.

We regularly get a rios burger for a treat now that we are local. Huge choice of burgers...beef,chicken and veggie and a selection of side dishes. We lived out of town for a year but it was a must have when we came back to visit family. Cheaper than the fast food chain alternatives and way way better. Give it a go you won't be disappointed.

A good independent burger bar that is part of the furniture in the Newbury takeout landscape, they have a massive menu of burger choices although it would be nice to see a bit more variety in terms of ingredients to bring it up to date, chorizo, Cajun etc

Went to Rios again last night and again the 2 lads working there were fantastic. It was busy about 6.30pm on a Thursday with the phones ringing, people picking up orders& people walking in and the service remained brilliant, both friendly & professional. Rio's take out in Newbury is really nice hangout for some awesome American style burgers! The menu offers a great variety of veg and meat burgers. Almost all the burgers are named after American places or things. The specialty of this joint is that the burgers are grilled rather than fried which makes them feel light even when are huge in size. The staff is friendly and the wait is not too long for you to get your meal. The cheesy chips available at this place are one of its kind: too good.A must visit place for your burgers in Newbury, I would further go ahead to say that you get best burgers in Newbury here!

I usually eat here on a weekly basis. Sometimes the burgers haven't been up to standard, but that's only when it's been very very busy. The deluxe is worth every penny. Will probably eat here till the day they shut up shop!

Best burgers about, rio 3000 is a meal in itself! Blueston is a good too for the blue cheese lovers!!!!!
