Food is awful. Everything is salty and doesn't taste good

Tasty food specially the wings & strips comes up with reasonable prices.

I'm was Friday at 20:30 , all Table dirty and I wait about 30 min and the food was really bad . Not first time this experience, I order 2 meals one chicken strips and chicken wings (mild) and its coming lemon taste whit verry chilli.

The Asian lady at the till kept lying to us about how long it will take to get the food ready. We ordered 2 whole chickens on their own. Was told 4 minutes at first when I went to collect and it ended up taking 20 minutes probably even longer. Baring in mind I ordered over the phone 20 minutes prior to actually going there to collect.

Our food arrived 45mins after we ordered and they weren’t even busy when I asked the lady on the till how long she said 5 minutes but it took another 10/15mins the booth seats were broken and moving but the food was really nice.

Great food, as a regular though, can definitely say service and treatment for customers should be better

First the restaurant was very dirty the table were not wipe and the toilet was very dirty I ave never seen anything like that,l should have take a photo. Poor customer service my first time and last very expensive for average food.

IT WAS HORRIBLE, staff was horrible, place was unclean, food really oily, please do not buy here, the food was one thing but the staff were HORRIBLE

Accompanying the chicken was a bed of flawlessly cooked rice. Its fluffy texture and subtle infusion of fragrant spices complemented the chicken beautifully. Every grain was a treat, contributing to the overall satisfaction of the meal.

Been few years since had my usual peri period chicken rice box. I was not disappointed. Still v good food. Box looked small but it was filling. Good customer service. Friendly good people. Food very good. Value for money whereas alot of other places have undersized food portions and overcharge. I have high expectations and this place deserves 5 stars.

Went for lunch today, chicken and rice box. First time. Excellent service, the young lady at the counter was patient with me as it was my first time and was extremely kind and helpful. She deserves a pay-rise. Very filling chicken and rice box, good for the money I paid.

Its ok ok...serving staff is not properly mannered and attitude is not good. Sometimes cleanliness is also an issue. Whomever is managing the show is clearly disregarding customer service feedback.

The most poor customer service any restaurant can have. Was very rude to my husband who went to collect a takeaway. I have seen several reviews with same opinion. I wonder why the management is not taking any actions to correct their employees showcasing such bad attitudes

My friend ordered a takeaway which was ready , but they said it was given to a delivery driver where the order details clearly showed “collect from Restaurant”.I had to go and comeback again to collect it because of their carelessness.when I pointed out their mistake, one of the staff started abusing me, not giving any value for their customers. We are not spending money to watch his arrogance.Also not accepting screenshot of order details which I went to collect for my friend who is Covid +ve. Don't know what they are expecting to show if the customer cant come directly to the restaurant. Never ever,ever and ever will recommend this restaurant will explain my experience to everyone I know.

If I could give no stars I would, literally ordered two hours and ten mins ago. I called them to see what’s going on, and it was apparently on the way. But they mentioned it would be there within the hour, don’t give a estimate time to get the orders in when you can’t fulfil the requirements. Two different staff spoke to me, all I got was were busy, sorry nothing else I said someone could of called and let us know, as we was waiting, no courtesy call nothing. Rude obnoxious arrogant staff, clearly customer service is not first class. Also food eventually turned up, stoned cold, sent the order back. Would rather eat beans on toast. Absolute JOKE avoid this at all cost unless you want cold food, and wait forever for it. I have been a loyal customer for ages But this time NO chance… Keep your food

Tasty chicken and rice box. Unfortunately the mango drink dispenser was broken and my second choice drink was out of stock. Staff were friendly and vary apologetic.

Very poor service. They kept me waiting for 35 minutes sitting here. Keeping the delivery running. No priority for people sitting hete. People can wait. But nobody like wasting their time. Not gonna eat from here anymore.

The worst customer service I have ever experienced, as I approached the counter. The female staff member kept asking me ever 10 seconds yes,yes,yes,yes. I felt like I had to rush my order and I didn't order what I wanted. The food was ok . The tables were all dirty and so was the toilets. Respect for customers has been lost in this establishment. Therefore I will never be visiting this place again.

Absolutely terrible food and terrible service. Past experience with this place has been terrible so I thought let’s give them a chance again. They missed some of my order again , gave the wrong flavours again , and made a complete mess with the packaging. I highly recommend you to avoid this place

I’ve just been spoken to so incredibly poorly by the manager from Rio’s Peri Peri on Gold Street in Northampton (who would not give me his name - the sign of someone guilty). The manager fully shouted at me(!!). I do not want to be spoken like a child like that in the slightest, which I’m sure you can imagine. The manager shouted at my husband and started making excuses for our delivery of the wrong drinks and sauces. Having being loyal customers of theirs for over +70 orders he then started to patronise us over the phone saying it was one mistake and to just drink the drinks and have the sauce. We said we didn’t order them and they were most probably another customers order and we just wanted to see if there was another solution to which he said just wait 40 minutes and I’ll send you the right bits. To which we stated we would have finished eating by then. He started to loose his temper for some bizarre reason, and started nit picking at our past orders as my husband likes his food extra saucy (& they always send our paneer very dry). It was as if he was doing us a favour (with that same patronising tone) sending us food that we order as paying customers. Then he started making things up like saying I’m a racist when I told him I’m Indian myself. It was like talking to a brick wall. I was explaining to him that I can’t drink full fat/sugar drinks due to diabetic reasons as he told me to literally drink the Pepsi, it’s no different, ‘just drink it’. To which when he said that, I lost it. He cannot tell me what to put into my body when I know best. It was absolutely disgusting. I asked does he know what diabetes is? Being Indian myself, I was trying to explain how I am Indian and it affects the majority of our community. To which he replied, I’m not Indian I am Nigerian. And I tried to make him understand he simply cannot tell me to drink it. Then started to shout and make remarks that I’m racist and telling him he’s uneducated (?!?). I could not get a word in any way, side, shape or form. All we wanted was to be heard and some kind of solution or discount to be given on our next order (seeing as we are such regular customers). He only mentioned a discount when I told him he’s lost a lifelong customer - the whole was so terrible that we don’t want to put money into someone’s pocket who speaks like that to their customers. Not to mention, I’ve never had a manager speak to a loyal customer like us like that in my entire 33 years of life. There was no understanding, no apology (until right at the end) & putting the blame onto US. Which is downright pathetic. We feel absolutely distraught on Valentine’s Day being shouted at and then him not listening & understanding what we had to say. I have already reported this to trading standards & will be calling our local offices tomorrow. The manger cannot handle such situations like this. I dare to think how this would make someone with mental health problems would handle such conversations.

I ordered food and picked it up by the time I got which took 10 mins I realised the chicken was soo over cooked that the skin was Burnt so you couldn’t eat it and the chips were soo dry like they gave old chips …. Anyways I called them up to inform them that it was really burnt and they’re were insisting I should have not ate the food and took it back and got a refund…. I tried to explain them I had hungry kids at home n going bK at 6pm to return the food would be impossible as it’s traffic time and I just took the skin off and fed the kids. There’s me thinking they would be like don’t worry we’ll send you fresh food but they were more bothered for me to return the food(covid?no) I said il take pictures …. Nope they was not interested they actually thought I was trying to scam them over £30 worth of food? I thought the customers are always right?

Honestly, the best food I’ve ever come across. My friends love the chicken and it always looks so good (even to me, as a vegetarian). Love that the menu has ACTUAL tasty vegetarian food. The service is amazing and the restaurant has such a nice ambiance / atmosphere. My favourite place to go to / order takeout from!

First time here. Loved the look of the restaurant. Bright and modern with good music. Food was very good. Far better than the greasy spoon across the road with the clown face as a mascot.

I always eat Rio’s when I order takeout at home and today I had the unparalleled pleasure to see the place in person. It was like one of those tours people take when they visit a Guinness factory or something and they get to see the magic happen in person. The food at Rio’s is quite simply the best Piri Piri in Northampton and if anyone disagrees with me I will personally hunt them down and take them out. I would do that for a sweet smell of daddy Rio’s’ delicious spice. Mr Rio, your Piri Piri Pitta Bread is so good I would actually fight a small battalion of toddlers for a bite of that soul cleansing divinity. I would steal a war veterans wheelchair if it meant I could sample the awe inspiring Piri Piri Fries at Rio’s that are so utterly flawless that they tear the very heavens asunder and reveal the screaming face of god. There is nothing I won’t do for a Rio’s. I’m unstable and will do literally anything. Also the place is really nice in person. It’s like a McDonalds but the food is actually good.

Ordered last night, the worst wings ever had 5 wings £4.99 and each wing is the size of a thumb. will never order again, I cannot believe that this restaurant got 233 reviews. you pay £1 for a thumb size wing

Just called up to let them know about the order being wrong and the manager basically said they can't do anything because we didn't call up the night before even though we did and they were not picking up! Worst customer service ever...don't order from here. Just taking people's money and putting brown lettuce in your burger

Quick service and delicious food!

This place is not COVID-19 safe. On the door of entrance is say no face mask no Serving. But when I got in to the place. They were 3 people without face mask and there were staff without face mask when serving and cooking food and there was no NHS tracking and trace and most of the tables was not social distancing

I always have take away from here and i order hot peri peri chicken (whole chicken). One half was fine but the other half seemed to have a different sause, it was more sour and had a lemon taste. I called up to find out if a mistake had taken place, but the guy at the end of phone kept hanging up on me and pretending he could hear me. Had to call a couple of times but he just kept hang up on me! We order from here a lot so i know the taste of the different sause. Really bad customer services Wasting my money.

Normally quality chicken but i had the Portuguese chicken burger and when it came it was very blaned and dry the bread fell apart asoon as i picked it up and the chips where hard and cold

Honestly the guy picked my order and then did some shots and then realised he had an order to deliver and finally after an hr or so he comes and doesn’t knock. Who does that? Of course my food was cold and their lovely customer service wasn’t a help 👍🏼

Amazing chicken & rice every time!

Rio's Takeaway was very clean, staff was following covid19 instructions properly but need little more training on taking orders, lack of customer servicing knowledge was very obvious. Order for hot flavour on peri peri chicken and for burger but seriously it was more like lemon and herb flavour which was very disappointing.I Spent £18 on food but feels like i wasted my money. Anyway do try them with caution,might be after reading this they do improve their service.

All i want to say is that the chicken wings is too salty and i ordered five pickles with that chicken wings, totally wasted pickle, the rio special pickle is not tasted as before---- may be they have changed the chef,,,,, Never ever order again,,,

If you are looking for really spicy food with some delicious flavours, then this is your place. I tried chicken peri peri wings and it was superb.

The chicken was really great, we love the sauce and hot rice sadly when I went to the toilet it was clogged and was very nasty so we decided to have our food be taken away and just eat at the hotel room, this happened last october 19, 2020 around 5-6pm, I really wanted to tell the staff about the incident but their were customers eating, Im really sorry but overall we have enjoyed the barbecue chicken.Thanks and hopefully they can do something with that discomfort room I mean comfort room.

Rio’s is my go-to place for when I need some amazing food. Quick delivery, delicious food and amazing service every single time.

They the worst chicken place in Northampton using no gloves and watched men cooking wearing no face mask and coughing all over when questioned about got very rude and hostile to wards the customers noting concerns. Avoid rios gold st.

I Pacificly ordered the chicken peri peri hot flavor for my mother cause she is Allergic to what they got in the lemon an herb when I rang and asked to change the order or if I can get refund the started to threatening to come to my house i have never had such bad service from any place like this gold st rios.

Phoned order through and the man said he would give the two sides I ordered with the family meal, except when I went into shop to collect the man who took the order started asking where on the website it says two sides and not two fries. So I showed him and he continues to argue that was old. I Told him it wasn't my issue and he should have said when I placed the order, but the man proceeded to say he would only give fries. He blatantly lied and so when I asked for my money back "the boss" (apparently named Tom, when he is Asian and English isn't his first language) said I was banned from both Northampton sites !?!. Complete fool this Tom and the guy who took the order must have clearly been Jerry.Just go to their neighbouring chicken take out, Freddy's, next door.

Food was 40 minutes late, most of it was cold, some of it was poor quality and inedible and best of all some of the order was missing!!!! Called up to chase and the two stores in Northampton had no idea who was cooking it even though we ordered from Gold street. Awful service, how hard can it be to cook some chicken to match what was ordered and deliver it hot in under two hours!?!?!

Ordered food to be delivered at 20:15 for Iftar. But the order was delivered at 18:30 ( 2 hours before Iftar ) which is unacceptable. Spoke with the customer service instead of admitting their mistake, made excuses. Poor customer service.

Must say, foods very nice as I go piri piri . chops are woke of the nicest ones for sure and staff in Northampton has very friendly staff. I'm a regular there now :) Edit: they keep messing up the order.. this is getting too frequent for me to keep the 5* I originally gave. Not nice.

The quality of the food is good. Custom service was polite and helpful. My reason for only giving 3 star is because the public toilet is a shamble. Toilet are always filthy when I go there. No toilet paper. Hand dryer machine does not work properly.

Pleasingly fresh and tasty. Nice change from the usual fast food. From jalapeño heat to lemon n herb mild. The sweet chilli sauce was custom blended. Choice of plain or coated fries if you want to keep the heat down. Fancy a whole chicken or two with that fanous piri piri flavour. Worth a second visit. Could do with a makeover ithe seating area but sound food offering and takeaway ready.

Rio food is very nice but service is disappointing. I ordered the rice box today with lemon and herb flavour. They gave spicy instead by Mistake which is understandable, but issue is how they did not correct it and took the order back "SCRAPED OFF THE Spicy SAUCE AND ADDED LEMON-HERB ON THE SAME CHICKEN " which is out of order, absolutely rubbish, stingy and cheap of them ! Very disappointing! Could taste the spice still.

Well I am never ordering from Rio’s ever again! Two sundays ago we ordered food at 7pm and it took two hours to turn up to us after having to call twice to find out where it was, when it finally turned up it was freezing cold! I called to tell them our food had turned up 2 hours late and cold and I was going to ask for a refund but they told me that if I ordered the same again another night they would replace all the food we had for free, we called this evening to re-order the same meal and they said they wouldn’t replace all the food, and we would have to pay the majority of the price. We even said we would pay for the cold food but we wouldn’t pay to replace the “hot” food we previously ordered and they still wouldn’t honour what they had said previously on the night. Absolutely fuming.

Very good food and very nice staff

ITS THE FIRST TIME I’VE EVER HAD RIO’s, it’s very tasty but 4 of us all had meals and it just wasn’t enough, you would think as they have only just opened in Oxford they would be more generous with the chips, literally didn’t even fill the tiny bag!It’s safe to say i won’t be rushing back or recommending them either. It’s no more filling than mcdonald’s.

Amazing place for chicken and rice lovers. I tried mild, hot, very hot and extreme hot and all are quite nice. Even quarter chicken is quite yummy. For veggie lovers paneer rice is a delicacy. Overall quite good.
