Pepe's in Northampton

Terrible experience. Went here with a few colleagues for a quick bite to eat and it was abysmal. Firstly one of my colleagues asked if they were able to serve gravy or something similar with the food (they weren’t) and they did not provide a direct answer to the question. She ordered a lemon and herb chicken dish, this should not be spicy, and it was. I have a medium spice tolerance (have no issues eating jaelopenos but don’t like anything hotter) and I agreed this was far too spicy, even if it was a mild dish, and it wasn’t even that. My food never arrived. When I asked about it I was told I never ordered the food and that the order never came. I ordered it directly with the unhelpful man at the till, never have I been gaslit at a restaurant!! My colleague reordered the food for me and when it arrived (mild loaded fries) it was covered in chilli’s and was absolutely burning my mouth. For something advertised as “flavour without the burn” this was frankly false advertising. Also, why does it take 15-20 mins to make loaded fries? It’s supposed to be a fast food place, and it’s just chips with sauce and chicken!!! Overall disappointed, will not return, and I believe a lot of those with me will not be returning either. Edit: In response to your reply, i say, we raised issues with your staff when we were there. they were dismissive, told us our issue was our fault then ignored us and walked away.

I always order the half chicken peri-peri meal, which is the best thing on their menu—never disappointed. The service isn't the best, but it's worth the wait.

I recently had a disappointing experience at Pepe Chicken Northampton. The chips were overcooked and tasted like they’d been sitting in a hot box for far too long. The chicken was dry and lacked the usual quality I’ve enjoyed at other branches of this franchise. To make matters worse, the service was unfriendly; the lady who served us seemed miserable and unwelcoming, which is not what you’d expect in the hospitality industry. Overall, this was the worst experience I’ve had at a Pepe Chicken location, and I won’t be returning anytime soon.

I honestly can’t believe the awful quality of food I received from this place. The chicken was a complete disaster—so dry it felt like chewing on cardboard. I wouldn’t be surprised if it had been cooked days ago and left to dry out. The rice was just as bad—hard, tasteless, and clearly past its best. It was like eating cold gravel. And the fries? Disgusting. Stale, soggy, and utterly lifeless—clearly reheated multiple times. It’s almost insulting that they thought this was acceptable to serve. This wasn’t just a bad meal; it was a complete joke. For what I paid, I expected a meal at the very least edible—instead, I received something that tasted like it came straight out of the trash. To say I’m furious is an understatement. Save yourself the money, frustration, and stomach ache—avoid this place like the plague. I wouldn’t even feed this to my worst enemy.

30 quid for cold chips and lukewarm chicken delivered in 1hr 40 Wont make that mistake again

I just wish one day Pepe’s Northampton branch don’t let me down. They mess up somehow on every single time, without miss. Any other branch you go to, you will be impress, I his branch can never put their act together. This time I was given all burnt chicken. If for any reason, it got burnt, fair enough. Don’t flipping give it to your customers, make them fresh. Just got home with my food and found burnt food. Probably they were too busy having discussions among themselves.

Delivery bang on time. Food very good except the chips, they were pretty dry and tasteless, but didn’t really want them anyway so no drama!

The food was great, the delivery driver was nice but the one thing that ruined it was the massive delay of over an hour.

I have always been a fan of pepes piri piri. But recently over the past couple of orders, i have noticed that the quantity of the paneer rice box has reduced substantially. It was really disappointing. I feel for the same price it is not worth buying nearly only half the amount.

Order arrived 10 mins late and when it did it was missing a chicken wrap. I phoned back straight away and the woman on the phone said sorry and that we could claim a free wrap next time. I said there was one person without food and for it to be sent asap instead. She said they only had 1 driver and it could take some time for it to arrive. It arrived about 90 mins later. I would have expected them to give us something complimentary to make up for their error and the inconvenience but nothing.

Absolutely horrible customer service! Would not recommend ordering , even the wait time in the restaurant takes ages. Just ordered 2 hrs ago and still haven’t received food and called them but the lady was so lost she said she would check but ended the call. Horrible just horrible.

Amazing food the best food I had in a while

Ordered on the app for 5.30 delivery . 5.45 called to be told will be 10 to 15 mins. I live 10 mins away and also lady on phone was not bothered. Horrendous service deleted the app, strange you confirm order and then say takes time. Ordered at 4.50 I could have driven there ordered waited and come back before it took them. Arrived, amazingly it was cold and the pitta my wife had was wet and sloppy. Another got your money and we do not care about service. Do not want freebies or money back, just wanted lady on phone to say sorry we are running late but it is on way.

The staff is rubbish And rude and disrespectful with costumes I call the 10:20pm for delivery and the say we closed and on app saying is opened till 11:00pm better closed forever

Ok but not very warm. Told it was ready much earlier than estimated time so by the time we drove down there it had been sitting for a while.

Unfortunately the whole chicken was burnt in some areas.

Staff very slow and non. Responsive, I forgot my wallet in my car which was directly outside of the shop after placing my order. I said to the lady, I'll be 30 seconds. I'll just get my wallet and she started shaking her ahead at me. I have been here on many occasions. And I find the staff. To be very slow and non informative as to how long the food will be. On the other hand the food is always pretty good.

Driver was really in a hurry.... he orderd like a boss to come downstairs as quikly as possible, he was saying come quick quick quick... literally used that word for 5 times...really dont like his attitude...otherwise food was good giving you 5 stars

Food is decent, nothing compared to the other branches though. Service is terrible. Staff are slow and rude. Waiting times are awful and god forbid you ask for a dip with your meal without paying the 50p they ask… Every other branch charges 50p for their sauce also but won’t hesitate to give you 1 or 2 with your meal when you’re already spending 10£ for chicken and chips.. Just get some new staff who will actually take your order and work to get it out rather than sitting around

I love the pepes food as i recently moved to Northampton and i came one day tk eat eith my family and we had family platter . The sitting environment was very comfy staff was very helpful to decide my order and food was really nice😋 . I will definitely come next time 🥰

Good food and good delivery driver

Unfriendly rude lady at the counter, as she took our order and walked away, she started talking about us and laughing with her colleagues assuming we don’t understand.

Rude service. They talk bad about you while you are stood right in front of them.

Order arrived 20mins earlier than expected. Food was tasty. Chicken was moist best ever for a delivered takeout. Flavours were good too.

delivery attempted nearly a whopping 80 minutes from ordering. Was refused as I walked out the door for work.

First time ordering and they missed off 2 lots of wings from my order. Called shop, very unhelpful and lady on end of phone could barely speak English and had no idea how to Google a postcode to establish address. Had to tell her my name and address several times to no success.

I have ordered half peri peri chicken and chicken rice. Chicken with rice was really good but peri peri is not cooked properly. I waited almost 30 min for the order and once I reach home and see the chicken is not done properly. Please be careful next time when you do the chicken.

I always order food there with same instructions but staff kept forgeting every time, when asked to double check they keep telling me same excuse they have made it carefully… very disappointed… if you can’t make soecifically just tell me straight away I can find food somewhere else…

Bad Time at Pepe's Piri Piri in Northampton Today, on March 16, 2024, I had a really bad experience at Pepe's Piri Piri in Northampton, a place I've been to many times before. Even though I got there before they were supposed to close at 11:00 PM, at 10:45 PM, the person taking orders was rude to me. Instead of being nice, they just said the restaurant was closed. I felt embarrassed and let down by how they treated me. It's sad to have such a bad experience, especially when I used to like the food at Pepe's Piri Piri. Today's visit made me think differently about the restaurant, and I might not go back because of the bad customer service.

The food was excellent and not and not covered in Greece.

Just had food from pepes wellingborough Road and we have ordered about 56 pounds worth ..everything was OK except one issue we asked specifically to add paneer in the rice box I was serving to my family then I realised there was no paneer in with the rice so I called them and this is the reply they came up with, they said they've given me the chicken and rice paneer which I said they didn't but then someone else said we have checked the cctv camera that he put the paneer in by himself. So wanted to show you that we have ordered chicken and rice with paneer (hot) and they have given us EXTRA hot box so what does that tell you? Instead of apologising he was rude and I asked for the manager he said he was the manager (Mustafa) so you can see the box has extra hot and the receipt has hot written.

These guys just stare at you when you’re waiting to order. They don’t come serve you only stare at you and you have to raise your voice and complain before you get served

Missing spicy rice from my order I called restaurant.They refused to send and told me to wait if they have delivery on same post code they will send. Very disappointing.

Ridicules behaviour of staff all unprofessional food is not as it should be , they charge you for mayo and chill food is alredy expansive we had a combo meal for 3 ppl they served only 1 mayo and 1 chilli for 3 ppl serving when we ask for another sos they staterd misbehaving.

A good place to have some street foods, like Chicken peri peri, Rice, Fried Chicken,Burger, Rolls etc. Eat in or take away.

I like the food, but the service was disappointing. The person serving was impolite and declined my request to change the drink from a disposable glass to a can, stating that it was already done, and couldn't be altered. When I inquired about how to manage the drink without spilling it during takeaway, he casually suggested, "Just grab it in your hand."

more than 2hr to get my food ordered at 1pm on a Wednesday, I called twice about it and the lady on the phone was rude dismissive of the wait and was talking to other people during it as if we're not important, when it arrived it was cold and dry, the guy still made us pay half for what reason? could've gone to mcdonald's got an order and got home in a quarter the time i waited for this cold sloppy food. driver was rude as well. argued with me for the 10p extra to make the price half would give negative stars if i could

I have ordered beef burgers for collection after having it these burgers are smaller in size and cold. Are we paying for more than 7£ for this sort of burger. Totally rubbish.

Waited over half an hour for a chicken burger. There was only one other customer in the shop. Burger was OK but not worth the wait.

I could have been give ZERO if there is a option. First of all the guy who took our order is very rude & we got the rice which has no flavour and chicken quantity was not as same as before. I just simply say avoid this place as they don’t care about customer. I am requesting the franchise OWNER to look into it and train your employee how to treat/great a customer. Shame on you (the person who served us).

The staff is so rude it's shocking. Ordered 2 portions of wings (which I ordered before numerous times) and after 5 mins they told me that they don't have any left and I need to choose something else of the menu. I told them that I wanted a refund as there was nothing else I liked. After that the women comes back and says that they 'found' exactly 2 portions of wings, but in reality they pulled out a whole tray full of wings! So it leaves me wonder, could they not bother to make the wings?!?

Service was extremely poor the last two times I’ve been here. Used to love Pepe’s but recently food has been poor quality and the service of staff here is ridiculously bad. They need to learn how to speak to customers better and deliver good food. Won’t be coming back here again!

It is good ordered few occasions have been back hence ye it's good the spicy rice is a big no taste like plain rice with a sprinkle of chilli powder had it 2 times no love for the rice but the rest is good commercial style but decent

Got Gourmet burger meal and a Rice box. Burger was very nice, but hardly any chips in meal, and Rice box had nowhere near the amount of chicken pieces as normal. Phoned up, was told 'thats the standard amount given' ??

Very very rude staff, no cleanliness, no hand soap in toilet, wet floor from where my child slipped but they were not bothered. We paid for ketchup sachet which was a big shame after spending almost £70. Chicken was no doubt fresh and tasty but chips were hard and dry. Don’t recommend this place to anyone

The food is nice but just to let everyone know and avoid disappointment, THEY CLOSE AT 10:30 NOT AT 11:00. Shop maybe open but the they switch off grill and start cleaning at 10:30.

I was in area area stopped for some food arrived at 22:25 was told the takeaway is closed and they have switched the grills off opening times on the website and on the door says open till 23:00 how can they close before the closing time

Tasty peri peri chicken at affordable cost. Food quality seems to be consistent with other Pepe's. Wraps and quesadillas are always underfilled, reflected by their cost.

Since we began eating in and buying to take away 18 months ago, we have had a great experience eating food from this restaurant. We moved to Northampton from Watford, and were familiar with Pepe's menu. The quality of the food and service at the Welly Rd location surpasses that of the branches in Watford. The staff is friendly and helpful. We look forward to many years of custom.

Food is good but nothing special. Service is the same as above but the time it takes from a walk in order to receiving your food is a joke. 30 minutes is not fast food. The place was empty but Just Eat and Uber Eats delivery agents were busy.
