Very nice Sri Lankan restaurant in Sutton. The chicken dum briyani was my favourite.

Very good menu and vivid collection of food.

I usually go to a slightly cheaper Sri Lankan food place.. But good lord have I just had the best chicken kottu outside of Sri Lanka itself. Well worth it. I'll be back

Just came to pick up my favourite egg & fish rolls and veggie rolls. Me and my family absolutely love them. Didn't realize the restaurant was so spacious and had a great atmosphere as I haven't been here before. Definitely will return with the family for dinner

We recently visited Jaffna Spice in Sutton (last week Saturday around four oclock) and decided to try their Lamprais (or Lampriyani) dishes – two meat options and one vegetarian. From the moment we opened the neatly packed banana leaf-wrapped parcels, we were blown away by the sheer amount of food and the incredible flavours. The rice was perfectly spiced, infused with authentic Sri Lankan flavours, and complemented beautifully by the accompaniments. The meat was tender and well-cooked, with spices that balanced heat and depth without being overpowering. The vegetarian Lamprai was equally impressive, showcasing various curries and sambols full of flavour and texture. What stood out was the attention to detail – the food wasn’t just delicious but felt like a genuine representation of Sri Lankan heritage. The portions were generous, making it excellent value for money. Jaffna Spice has mastered bringing authentic Sri Lankan cuisine to Sutton. We will certainly be returning to explore more of their menu. It is highly recommended for a unique and flavourful dining experience!

Nice welcoming staff, with a cosy atmosphere. Service was very quick and the food was of a high standard, with staff making sure all your needs are met at all times

Good place to have dinner with friends

We ordered online at 2:00pm. The delivery came 67 minutes later, a total distance of 1 mile. It was a dreadfully bad performance by Rio at full price & we woulsd recommend that others do not order from them.

Food was amazing. Loved the ambients of the place. Staff were so great and happy to help. Some dishes were pricey for the portion. The Devil King prawn was very £10 i think for 5 king prawns.

Great people, Amazing super fresh authentic South Indian food…value for money is unquestionable and every time I go I don’t look at the menu anymore I just ask them to give what that think I should have according to how hungry I am!

We absolutely love this place and come here every month! Most authentic dosa in town! Don't miss out!

Amazing food. Revisited many times and it never disappoints

Its been a year since I ate last at rio . My my what a dissapointment the food I got served was not good at all the pharata was shop frozen they tried to palm me of with chef just made it 🙃 so dissapointing never again would I buy food from here its a poor show rio.

Very authentic food/cuisine, both veg and non-veg options are available, many places/tables (capacity), good atmosphere but an air freshener will go a long way to keep the place fresh, very reasonably priced food. Parking is not available so you will need to find nearby (limited parking in Sainsbury's, Asda etc.) Ps : image attached in review is veg. Friday special thali

Rasam was served cold, hated prawn noodles it had no taste and very bland, podi ghee dosa was good and faluda is also ok ok, the sizzler was good.

This is a real little find , the food is lovely , be warned very spicy can be hot so if you are like me a bit of a heat wimp go mild and tell them in no uncertain terms MILD ! They are lovely , it's always got shrilankan people in there eating which to me says a lot . It's so reasonably priced you can get a great meal with drinks for around £20.00 . We now go at least one every 2 weeks .

Very tasty food. Specially kottu rotti and masala dosa are very tasty. But glasses , cutlery are not clean. Staff are no frindly. No smile. They must get good trainning.

Good food. Tasty & delicious shame they are not Ubereats or deliveroo. Ordered takeaway over the phone. The driver couldn’t find the flat so had to go downstairs & collect the food. The staff there are useless they don’t know what they are doing messed mu order twice had wait more then 30 minutes for a takeaway

Chicken and Mutton Kothu was good, ordered king Prawn devil dish, had only 6 small prawns, very small portion for £10.

Visited on 16/06/23, and I must say that the food were fantastic. The staffs made me and my family felt at home. Good food at reasonable price.

We had ordered food for 25 people for home delivery to Redhill. Kumaran from the restaurant was involved in the order, he was very helpful in menu selection and provided reasonable price. We ordered both vegetarian and non vegetarian starters and main couse food items. The food was packed neatly and delivered hot. The spice level was also mild as we had requested and was also had authentic south Indian flavor. The food quantity provided was sufficent more than required for 25 people. The items we had ordrered were Gobi 65, Devilled Panneer , Chicken 65, Devilled Chicken, Panneer fried rice, Chicken Biriyani, Kerala Parotta, Chicken curry and Fried Aubergine Curry. The food were excellent and the guestes liked it very much. The standout were Parotta and chicken curry. I would definitely recomend this restaurant. Take away went in the bin. Mixed grill at £18 was actually disgusting. And then eating the other meal found a burnt crispy old chip! Lovely. Should have looked on here before ordering.

Food was not hygiene to eat. All the chilli i got in my food was rotten. I ordered lassi and they just give some buttermilk and sugar. Avoid going this restaurant.

Best south Indian food available.

Poor service. Unfriendly welcome and didn’t come to take our order when we waited for 15 minutes. We left before having food. I give 3 star kindly as didn’t taste the food. We went to Bab Bab korean restaurant a few doors up and it was wonderful.

I had my chicken curry delivered when I opened it the chicken was on the bone it looked Disgusting I could not even try it I spoke to just eat who delivered it because I did not want it they was not interested so I took my meal back to the restaurant myself and said about on there menu it does not say the meat is on the bone I have never had curry with bone I did say about a refund then the man said he would cook me a curry without bone so I said ok when I sat down to eat at home what a surprise the spice was so so hot no one could of eaten it it was Disgusting never would I recommend that place to anyone

Some of the dishes were very bland and tasteless, I tried chilli paneer super bland and could eat much, whilst my friend tried nethalie fry ( anchovies fry) again no spices and no salt even. Kudal curry ( curry made out of lambs / beefs intestines )was the worst one with sand in the curry, I guess chef didn't even bother with washing the ingredients. I would never try those again there.

Too much oil and salt. Doesn't taste good at all, too salty. Good 3 different biryani: chicken, mutton and paneer. They were all the same but with different pieces. it was coloured oil rice with either chicken lamb or paneer. No flavour except salt.

Enjoy lunch there, loved the indian foods with authentic taste and environment is excellent.

I’m sorry to say it was a disgrace , we should have walked out right after we sat down, from filthy menus , gin & tonic with no fruit or ice to filthy toilets , terrible service and all around terrible food , we wasted £66 , one of the first times in my life I didn’t leave a tip , we struggled thru the starters and hardly touched the main courses , only redeeming feature were the poppadums and to be fair if you can’t get those right ,,,,,, we will not be back , I would hate to think what EHO would find

Had one of the worst experiences from Rio last Saturday (11/02/2023). I was ill and decided to order a chicken briyani as I wasn't well enough to cook myself. The chicken briyani was salty as hell and unbearable to eat! The rice was salty and so was the chicken itself. I had made a mistake ordering this specific dish from here and they often use naay, indian butter/oil. It's what's give its a shine on the rice. They had used alot of it on the food and consequently unsettled my stomach. Sri lankan don't tend to use it compared to Indians so you should be aware of it. I had a extremely weird feeling in my stomach for a few days due to the oil/butter. This experiment had put me off eating out at restaurants as you can't really trust their cooking methods or products. I called and complained. They said for me to come back to get a new one but I refused and asked for a refund which they gave me. Also I wouldn't actually even call it a briyani. Just rice with chicken pieces. Rather than cooked the chicken taste and feels as though they had fried it. So almost you can call it a stir fry. Be careful when eating out 👍

Visited the restaurant again today. The dishes we ordered were very nice. The atmosphere is very nice and the staff are very friendly.

Good food, polite staff and pretty tasty food. The service can be better and more prompt. We ordered for 4 people and all the food came at different times. The prices on the menu were incorrect and they wanted to charge more as they have not changed the menu price. A lot of scope for improvement. The lamb dish had tiny pieces of lamb.

Very authentic food both sri lankan and Indian . Had a good breakfast and ordered loads of food and paid a very fair price. The food was amazing. Would definitely go again.

I have spent some time in Tamil Nadu and this struck me as being one of the most authentic meals I’ve had elsewhere. It was very well spiced and flavoursome.

Food has the authentic taste. Never tasted anything like this before. You need to let the chef know if you need less clarified butter and the chef cooked it perfectly as was requested. Nice place for family dinner with authentic flavour dishes. I 100% recommend it to people who love authentic curry food.

I ordered king prawn tandoori and paid £10. I got 5 regular small prawns and the taste was awful as well!! I got conned so please think twice before burning your money.

The serves was ok but it could improve and the food was nice but when the desert came my face dropped down It’s not worth £3.50 (Vattalappam)

If you're a pure vegetarian pls stay away. Vada tastes ok, kothuparotta is bad and Gobi Manchurian is the worst. My opinion maybe totally wrong for non veg. But for veg, this isn't the place.

This is our favorite place to hang out as a family. Both vegetarian and non vegetarian options are available . So there is something for everyone.the prices are reasonable and the service is good.

This is the best Masala Dosa I have eaten on these shores. The dosa itself has the slightly sour fermented flavour that is the sign of a great batter. It was also crispy with a great filling. The sambar was perfect, the sambal spicy, and the coconut chutney delicious. A great authentic experience.

It's a simple looking white table clothed resturant but don't let that fool you, the food is amazing. Service is good too, front of house very helpful and asked how hot we would like our dishes (spice wise). Prices are good too!!! All round I recommend highly!!!

Not good at all . recently ordered sea food buriyani they put only 2 prawns and 2 skinny cut squid rings. And poor taste.

Friendly suggestion, Don't forget to order chai (Tea). Tea is awesome here, I know it's all weird to talk about tea but I took it twice, trust me. Loved the main course as well ( Rasam soup, Masala dosa). All the best to the team Rio!! Cheers!

Food delicious but time taken to get food is too long. Very slow in delivering food to table or for takeaway. Been there few times and same issue.

To sum it up: *The portions was small for the pricing * Flavours of the dishes lacking * Dishes were dry. To add to this, I could also smell the strong scent there are mices in the restaurant. From the cupboard behind the bar. Wouldn't visit again. Sorry guys.

Delicious tasty food served in nice environment. If you want to taste real Authentic Sri Lankan food, I will recommend this restaurant for sure because food is spicy & hot as Sri Lankans like most. If you want less spicy, you can ask them too. I tasted biryani, Koththu and Chicken 65. It was so delicious. I love the environment of Restaurant the most. It was with a nice melody songs playing in the background with beautiful settings of paintings, flowers and table arrangement.

Nowadays this place getting worse to order and collect its took me 1hrs 20 minutes to get my food not again

So pleasant to find something new when searching for dinner when on the road. Simple unassuming place at the bottom of the High Street offering Sri Lankan menu. Different dishes on the menu that I wasn’t familiar with so nice to get some friendly advice from the staff. Not disappointed. If you like spicy then you will love it. Will definitely go back when I am here again

Great srilankan restaurant we been there for first time best kotthu rotty i tried their special kotthu rotty very tasty and kids love their pappadam and source very tasty spicy briyani ,flalooda very nice we will come again

Amazing South Indian food, taste is so much near to India' taste. We are regular customers and our favourites are masala dosa, idli, mutton sukha, kerala paratha, egg paratha ❤️ Even the tea and coffee are great, service is very quick, thanks to Pandi.
