Brixton is serious eats!! The brigade of staff they have are amazing and organised at smoothly handling all the orders they get coming through the door whilst still maintaining good customer service and regular humour. Food is great and freshly made. This is porridges, soups, patties, festivals, rice dishes, meat dishes you name it First experience there was good and has not disappointed since!

Food is not nice , better off getting flavour boss. Also the staff get a kick out of winding people up. Save your money & go elsewhere

Plenty of food to look at until you order. Always disappointing from flavour to portion. I have had it with supporting most black businesses. The soup is the worse thing on offer there. No food in it but it costs the earth. I'm done.

I have been meaning to write this review for a little while now and although I only ever buy soup from here oh and their flat dumplings, I just want to say that they make lovely fresh soup, and i do enjoy it, every time. I also have to mention one of the ladies behind the counter, wish I had gotten her name, in all the times I've ordered online and had to call because I have a request or something, I always end up speaking to her, always polite. This one day, I was driving a bus, but really wanted some soup, but I needed it really quickly lol, I had a few mins spare as I wasn't in service, the same lady said she would get the soup ready for me, I went into the shop, she had it ready. The point I'm making, is that customer service so important, the lady is the one who always says 'darling' and I actually got to see, who It is I speak to, can't forget her voice as she is always consistent in how she talks to people. Thank you so much.

People behind the counter need to learn how to serve more than one person or get more staff bad attitude no wonder us black people don't get anywhere. Shocking

I don't know how to start I absolutely love this shop I normally do delivery as I work from home and the foods are always hot it is tasty seasoned I love it If you're looking for authentic Jamaican food than this is the spot On the rare occasion that I go into the store for always extremely friendly if I could give this a store a 10 star I would

I'm happy with what I ordered. My food arrived hot and cold drinks were in a separate bag which I like to see and wish more places would do. The oxtail, rice and peas is also tender, full of flavour and similar to how my mum makes it. 👍🏻 And they have coconut drops on the menu, got that hint of ginger and spices which I loved as a kid. Just pure sugary goodness. 😍 The guinness punch is quite strong and bitter whereas I prefer it a bit sweeter but still enjoyable. The fruit punch was okay and the festival was crispy on the outside. All in all, my craving for the food I grew up with is satisfied.

Went in there today 29 July, was greeted by a lovely lady who took my order which was jerk chicken rice and peas she asked if I like extra gravy which is always a yes and for the large value at £9, big portions nice coleslaw aswell and great service, hadn't been in over a year will begin coming along more again

Oh my word. I bought jerk pasta, sponge cake, a beef patty and a piece of fried chicken. The food was overpriced and terrible, I can't believe they have customers! The beef patty was the only thing that was good. The "jerk" pasta was so bland it didn't even taste one bit like jerk. The fried chicken tastes like I was eating flour. The customer service is zero, quite rude and I didn't feel welcome ordering from their shop at all. Certainly never going back again.

The size for mac&cheese is a joke for the price you are paying and it was cold dumplings are not fresh and rock hard can knock someone out

Tastes like it was cooked by Asians cosplaying as Jamaicans. Pepper steak tougher than my life to date AND it was sweeter than the SWEETCORN in the pot of coleslaw - I want to cry. You should be arrested for the state of the STALE Coco bread.

Very old food used again for sale,even if we bought many items none was at least enjoyable. Meet can be very old and not to be identified. The worst curry goat that taste like lamb or beef ,dry and old meet as in the picture. DO NOT BUY!

I am visiting the area and was desperate to have some 'home food'. I have to be honest I was a little put off by some of the reviews, but thought that the food can't be any worse than the hotel food I have had to suffer for the past few days....BUT, I'm soooo glad that I ordered. The fish soup was very good, I wish I had ordered the large. The brown stew fish was very tasty with the mixed veg that had plantain in it...very nice. The shop tried to call me to say that they didn't have any Mac n cheese, but I didn't hear the calls.....so imagine my surprise when I got to my hotel room with my food to see a note stating they are sorry they didn't have M&C but they sent me crumble and custard...and a slice of cake instead...WINNER! All I can say is on this day, you guys were 'on point'...thank you.

Worst customer service on Sunday evenings. There’s a young guy that works there ( mild complexion working around closing hours specifically around 9:30pm) And a new Jamaican girl who took ages to serve me and customers. He acted like it was one big party and continued to stare me down as a form of intimidation talking in youngster paywall which made me very uncomfortable. They need to realize that we ( the public) pay for there salary and a lesson in customer service @ may” help him”.

My favourite Jamaican restaurant on this app however I would say the apple crumble isn’t apple crumble there is hardly any apple in there and there’s a sponge type of texture which is more like a bake-well tart and not much crumble either. I guess everybody needs theirs differently, but this version is not for us.

Had had a stew chicken delivered. It was more like stewes chicken bones. It was inedible. Really unsatisfactory.

So pleased that this restaurant is on Just Eat is the best Caribbean restaurant in South London been going into the shop for many many years so happy to see they are delivering would highly recommend their food

The food was alright. However there was unpleasant hard pieces of onion or onion skin in the food that was not editable. I wondered what it was because it was see through like plastic but it came apart like a onion. I also got given the wrong drink.

This was my first time ordering, I don't usually like leaving reviews but I'm hoping it will offer an opportunity for improvement. I ordered 3 desserts with custard, 2 cakes banana and ginger and a crumble. Unfortunately, one cake the darker coloured one was inedible as it felt and tasted dry and stale and the second cake was dense and had bits of eggshell in. All three desserts were generously portioned but I was disappointed in the quality and taste having paid just over £6 for each. Hoping my experience was an isolated one.

Food tastes good. Shame forget my Rio can drinks but was refunded without any hassle. Very speedy delivery.

Brown stew chicken was no where near brown stew. Chicken was raw! And pink how?! Rice was soggy and mash up like soup. If this food makes me sick I will 100% writing a complaint to head office. Terrible

Terrible customer service and inconsistent pricing.

Firstly: I PRAISE the AMAZING delivery driver who BICYCLED from the restaurant + STILL delivered my order on time even though he had A GREAT distance to travel! He's GOT to be the GoaT! Secondly: Before C-19, I was a regular walk-in customer of Brixton Caribbean Cuisine + had been for years. The shop was ALWAYS full but customers didn't mind waiting as the food was tasty, reasonably priced with reasonable + standard-sized portions. Today I placed my second online order + I'm sad to say I was disappointed. Aside from LOTS of small sharp bones in my curry mutton, there was FAR TOO MUCH pepper in it. I ordered one LARGE portion of curry mutton which cost £14.70 + one SMALL portion of rice + peas which cost £6.20. The total (plus a £1.99 delivery charge) was £22.89 FOR 2 ITEMS! The so-called 'LARGE' curry mutton container arrived in a container the size of which they USED to use for a SMALL rice portion. The size of the so-called 'SMALL' rice + peas arrived in a container which was EVEN SMALLER than the size of the container they USED to use for a SMALL rice portion. I did not even KNOW such SMALL containers were available!! I understand that prices the restaurant pays for ingredients, gas + electric etc may have gone up, but as a business, I suggest you should 'take one' for your own team + absorb some of those costs so you can either retain and/or grow your customer base. Making the customer bear the full brunt of rising costs, just makes you appear as if making a profit is your only goal, when you WOULDN'T BE making ANY profit AT ALL if it weren't for your customers keeping your busines afloat. You are pricing yourselves out of a market in which you were (probably) in the top 5 in Croydon. Sadly, this was my last order as it was REALLY expensive considering what I received. Having said all that, I sincerely hope that you manage to stay open + will either consider reducing your prices, or return to using fair-sized portion containers, or both!

food was tasty but the oxtail meal came with very little gravy and it could of done with a little more cooking so it would be falling of the bone. Arrived very quickly.

I've given a 2 as the taste and quality of the food is inconsistent. 3 weeks ago I had curry goat and it was lovely. Although the large portion on that occasion was small and way too much bones. More bones than meat. Another inconsistency depending who serves you. Yesterday had curry goat again and clearly different chef. Too much pepper and not nice flavour. Almost inedible but as I live in S Norwood, too far to return. They really need to sort out portion sizes and taste. It's too hit and miss. I want to like this place but find it hard.

The food was okay but ordered through deliveroo and paid extra for a large portion size and coleslaw but was served small with no coleslaw. I can understand they don’t really care about customers but it’s a shame that a business practice this kind of dishonesty. Avoid this place if you can !

I enjoyed my order but the Vegetable Red Peas Soup, Medium was missing.

The goat and rice was nice a little watery but nice and a good size. The coleslaw is nasty, it’s got sweetcorn in it and it’s spicy for some reason. The beef patty was dry, crusty and tasteless.

I just went to Brixton as I had a few minutes to spare before my train came and it’s been a while since I visited since moved away. When I entered the shop there was 1 person serving & 3 people in-front of me, 2 behind. I waited a moment before deciding to leave as I wouldn’t make my train in time. Not the staff shouting me down with “OI’s” & “OI, WHERE YOU GOING?”. Aside from the fact it took me leaving the shop to get someone’s attention, that isn’t how you speak to customers. Although the food is good and i’ve been going there for 10+ years, the customer service is sub-par making the whole experience unenjoyable.

My order was completely wrong& a lady called me because she got my number of the receipt on the bag so our orders weee mixed up.Not happy

Love the Ital soup,will always make it my first soup choice. The stream fish is well seasoned with good,good flavouring. It comes with the option of "hard food" or rice. A very,very good Caribbean Take away.

Bought red pea soup today. Far too much red peas. Spent time fishing them out. I normally go to another shop for but decided to try them. Won't be going back.

If I could have tailored more meal more I would probably order from these guys every other day.. for example swap out the flour dumplings for cabbage and pumpkin .. i ordered the Callaloo and salt fish meal (Breakfast hours) got a large hoping for more callaloo and salt fish but got two huge dumplings which I don’t eat

Recommended Foods: Fish tea, Ital red peas soup, Salmon with Rice & peas and Pumpkin, Okra stew. Recommended Drinks: Irish moss (without milk), Sorrel & ginger, Soursop juice (without milk) and Guinness punch

Only place that ever seem to have peanut porridge available. I enjoyed it but was more milky that most so lacked a bit of flavour. Partner had bananna porridge and liked it. Ordered sprats too. Not the freshest tasting but was still good overall. Hard to find them. Love that soursop fresh juice has non dairy option. Partner ordered sorrel. Both juices enjoyed. Prices do seem a bit steep for what you get. £30 for 2 Medium porridge, 2 fresh juice & 1 sprats portion. Deliveroo obviously take a cut etc but still seems higher than necessary. Haven't tried the rest of the menu to comment although reviews don't seem brilliant. ATM would stick to what I know is OK as a bad experience would put me off ever coming back. Not going to try the rest of menu until reviews improve. 10 years ago food was great but customer service has never been good hence why we order instead of going in.

Ordered fried dumpling filled with ackee and saltfish….i might as well have ordered dumpling alone…they drop in the tiniest of ackee and saltfish in the middle, just got the leftover doughy dumpling and that’s it. Need to proportion it properly and serve enough ackee n saltfish with the dumpling.

This is their mac and cheese :/. Definitely, it's not worth the price. It's such a small portion. To me, it looked and tasted like if it was just boiled pasta and cheese on top. It's horrible how the food is not fresh either. They just warm up in the microwave, in the same plastic container you are given.

I watched the driver go around the whole area and delay the order for over 45 minutes. The signal was lost five times. The food was cold. I expect better from just eat. Why didn’t he call if he was lost?

Did not receive the 3 ginger and guava drink ordered.

I was passing through and fancied a quick stop for some food. Ordered large goat curry and rice. The container was filled full of rice with a drop of curry in the corner. The blatant ripping off customers is staggering so definitely won't be back. Its a great shame as the food was good but can't support a business that is hell bent on short changing customers.
